Memories and experiences on the yoga path
0:00 - 0:48 (48 min)
A spiritual journey unfolds through grace, duty, and unwavering connection to the Master. Returning after twelve difficult years abroad brings profound gratitude. The path began with a mantra initiation decades ago. Guidance came to help establish an ashram, leading to the first yoga class in a home in 1999. Teaching has continued and grown since that time, offering something unique that students recognize as authentic. The Master embodies perfect completeness, and His divine aura provides unmatched wisdom. The path is safe; one must not stop walking it even through storms, standing firm like a deeply rooted tree. Life presents contrasting experiences—from a dharmic childhood to a materialistic society—all as lessons. The core instruction is to maintain dharma, to do the right thing in all circumstances, drawing strength from scripture even when facing loss. A profound devotion was realized in a moment of selfless offering to the Guru.
"Every moment in His presence, we dive into His Divine Aura and receive wisdom found nowhere else."
"The real hero is the one who, even while doing the right thing, loses."

We mark 25 years of teaching Yoga in Daily Life here, a voluntary mission from an authentic Indian school. We secured our own space, now becoming a blessed ashram. We have brought yoga to schools, libraries, and communities for all ages through dedicated effort. Yoga is ancient, a science of body, mind, and soul, intertwined with Āyurveda as natural knowledge for health. It is not passive meditation but active practice for concentration and peace. Its universal message is recognized internationally. We must return to natural living, embracing yoga and Āyurveda for well-being, seeing all cultures and people as one family under God.
"Yoga is the science of body, mind, and soul."
"Vasudhaiva Kuṭumbakam,' which means the whole world is one family."

Shiva Tattva
2:45 - 3:19 (34 min)
The endless cycle of creation and dissolution guides the soul toward Śiva. Creation, Sṛṣṭi, and dissolution, Vilaya, repeat across Yugas. God incarnates in each age through Yogamāyā. Viṣṇu appears with symbols of blessing and destruction. The cycle cleans the field of existence before Śiva, the Svayambhū, manifests again. Vast scriptural knowledge was largely destroyed, yet an ocean remains. Theoretical knowledge is limited; practice is essential. Countless Yugas have passed. The Jīvātmā, the individual soul present in all life, is Śiva-tattva. This essence multiplies endlessly. Gods perform their duties in a reciprocal play. Through disciplined Sādhanā, especially mantra in Kali Yuga, one can overcome suffering. Earthly life, from womb to old age, is marked by difficulty and attachment, a Tapasyā. The aim is for the individual drop of Jīva to merge with the ocean of Śiva. Sustain life with duty and love, but seek Self-realization. Hold to your path, reject doubt, and use your inner light. Guide future generations on this path to end the cycle of rebirth.
"Kali Yuga keval nām ādhāra, sumir sumir narhoi bhavapāra."
"So this drop is the Jīva, Śivatattva. And the ocean is Śiva. When this drop falls into the ocean again, the Jīva becomes Śiva."

Take the responsibility of your life
3:25 - 3:58 (33 min)
The path of yoga requires abandoning excuses to take full responsibility for one's life. People consistently lie to appear better, blaming trauma, astrology, or external conditions to avoid change. This excuses reveals weakness and a lack of self-control. A true yogī rises above all such circumstances, transforming even the worst conditions into the best. This demands present-moment awareness and becoming a detached observer. By observing internal signs before emotions fully manifest, one can choose a different response. Do not wait for a future moment to act or improve; utilize the present. Acting instinctively places one on an animal level; pausing to remember a higher principle activates human consciousness. Seeing the unconscious patterns within allows for their transformation, which is the essence of yoga.
"Everybody lies because we always want to be seen in a better light."
"Everything is predictable if we are observing and if we are aware."

Awakening of muladhar
4:15 - 4:57 (42 min)
Chakras are energy centers where consciousness resides, defining character and problems. Your destiny (prārabdha) is created by past karma before your body forms. You control your present karma through action, speech, thought, and influence, but once acted upon, deeds become destiny governing future life and all current problems. The Mūlādhāra Chakra is the root foundation of consciousness based on that karma. It is the earth element, colored red for energy and Mother Consciousness. Its awakening brings safety, wisdom, and pleasurable energy, not physical sensations. The chakra's symbols include a four-petaled lotus representing the four ways life enters the world, an elephant symbolizing wisdom and prosperity, an inverted triangle for energy flow, and a coiled snake representing past, present, and future karmas—the dormant Kuṇḍalinī Śakti. Śiva (consciousness) and Śakti (nature) seek union here. Exercises like Bhujaṅgāsana and Śalabhāsana activate this chakra, strengthening the back and influencing the root center for physical and mental balance.
"As long as you are not doing anything, it is still under your control."
"The awakening of the Kuṇḍalinī means wisdom. You become very wise, you become self-confident."

Atma resides in all creatures
5:05 - 5:34 (29 min)
The soul's journey is from individuality to unity with the divine.
Our tradition sees all with love. Historical forces, from Muslim rulers to the British, have tested this unity, yet the essence remains. God is not present in only one place; God is omnipresent. The soul enters the human body after passing through many life forms. The human birth is a rare opportunity. The relationship between the individual soul and the supreme is like a drop and the ocean; they are ultimately the same substance. Upon death, the pure soul merges with the supreme consciousness, while others return to the cycle. Every helper in life, from a parent to a driving instructor, can be considered a guru guiding us. Our duty is to raise children in righteousness and to show compassion to all creatures, great and small.
"God is not there only once. God is not there only once."
"A drop of water and the whole ocean are the same inside."

Go to satsang
5:40 - 6:08 (28 min)
The path of faith is proven through direct experience and sustained by satsaṅg. A master provides simple initial practices, like a mantra. This must be done with heart and soul to feel the connection and blessing. The first step of sincere practice opens the soul to the master's consciousness. Faith in the master's guidance is essential. External circumstances are not a measure of spiritual merit, as illustrated by a parable. Two neighbors received their wages; one spent his on worldly enjoyment in kusaṅg and found a gold coin. The other attended satsaṅg but broke his leg. A sage explained the one in kusaṅg was destined for a vast treasure but received only one coin due to his company. The one in satsaṅg was destined to be killed, but his karma was mitigated to a broken leg. Never compare fortunes or judge the path by temporary outcomes. Satsaṅg opens the heart center and unites the soul with the highest consciousness. The quickest way to God is through bhakti, devotion, growing with the innocence of a child. Unconditional love for the master automatically extends to all creation. When acting for the master, close your eyes and trust he is with you.
"When you say the mantra with heart and soul, you feel the love and blessing of the Master."
"Never look at what others have or do not have. Never compare."

Singing bhajans by Swami Gajanandji
7:35 - 8:12 (37 min)
Devotion is the direct expression of the heart's longing for the divine. The song is an offering, a plea for refuge in the guru, who is the true shelter. Through repetitive chanting and praise, the individual consciousness seeks to dissolve. The devotee acknowledges personal incapacity for rigorous practice, surrendering entirely to grace. Worldly attachments and the snares of illusion are recognized as binding. The sole request is for the guru's compassionate hand to provide crossing. Liberation is described as the burning away of latent impressions and the cessation of identification with elemental principles. The act of singing itself becomes the transformative path.
"O Swāmījī, you live within, you live in my heart."
"Japa tapa na hove mujhase, yahī Prabhu ārajāhe."

A relaxing movement practice for the body.
Lie down with legs straight and together, hands straight back. Remain relaxed and do not adjust clothing. Bring both legs straight up, then down, keeping the body still. Place palms under shoulders, bend elbows, and raise the trunk before lowering again. Raise both arms and legs together while inhaling deeply. Interlock the thumbs and hold the feet behind the back, then rock forward and back. Practice stillness and maintain straight legs. Conclude by sitting up normally and relaxing.
"Relax. Be very relaxed."
"Inhale very deeply and stay as long as you can."

The Essence of Yoga in Daily Life
18:00 - 18:35 (35 min)
Yoga in daily life is the integration of spiritual discipline into every action. You must know your purpose. I taught yoga abroad and required a commitment to vegetarianism, refusing to teach those who ate meat. In India, some who never ate meat now do. Upon waking, affirm "I am a human being." Water is divine; a few drops remind you it is within all. Apply it like an injection to feel Jagadīś in your body. Do not let animals into sleeping rooms, though a cat or goat is good. Protect animals and India. Sanātana Dharma exists only in India. Many Indians abroad worship and have left meat. Practice yoga daily. Protect animals, protect India. Do not let animals into the house. The alternative to mobile confusion is to say Om when using the telephone.
"Water is Jagadīś. Jagadīś, Sarveś, Jagadīś, Bhagavān."
"The alternative is to say Oṃ. Say Om whenever you pick up the telephone."

The divine names invoke presence and remembrance.
Chanting connects the seeker to the sacred essence. These names are not mere words but vessels of consciousness. Repetition purifies the mind and aligns it with truth. The practice is an offering and a call for grace. It awakens the heart from spiritual slumber. Devotion through sound becomes a direct path to realization.

Vegetarian kitchen in praxis (part 1)
20:00 - 20:53 (53 min)
Vegetarianism is presented as the optimal path for health, mental performance, and planetary survival. Animal foods lack protective antioxidants and amplify environmental toxins. Cooking meat creates harmful free radicals. Dairy consumption correlates with higher osteoporosis rates, a calcium paradox. Scientific consensus now confirms plant proteins are sufficiently digestible, even for children, eliminating past concerns. The average protein intake greatly exceeds requirements; plant sources alone provide adequacy.
Practical cooking focuses on making vegetarian food appealing using familiar spices and meat substitutes. Smoked tofu can replace smoked meats in dishes. Seitan, made from wheat gluten, can be prepared as strips or rolls to provide a expected "piece of meat" on the plate. For flavor, fry tofu or seitan to create a crust, then marinate in sauces like tomato with herbs or ginger with soy sauce. Dry-roasting spices in oil unlocks their flavor. Pressing tofu removes water for better flavor absorption. Boiling dry soy chunks removes bitter oligosaccharides before use.
"Foods of animal origin do not contain antioxidants."
"The actual protein requirement is about 50 grams. If we excluded all animal foods and ate only plant-based, we would still receive sufficient protein."

The form of God is the vibration
21:00 - 22:00 (60 min)
Oṃ is the divine sound, the origin and essence of all creation.
Oṃ is the primordial vibration, the sound-form of the absolute. Its written symbol contains a Bindu, representing both the point from which the universe emerged and the drop of immortal nectar. Yogis meditate upon it eternally. It grants desires and liberation. This is not a sound we create but an existing reality we resonate with through chanting. The practice of Nāda Yoga uses outer sound to journey toward the inner experience of Oṃ. At the highest stage, this sound is perceived directly, transforming into light and expanding consciousness. All true mantras contain Oṃ. It is described as the Word present at creation, the formless source that manifests as the three qualities composing the world. Spiritual practice without connection to Oṃ is considered fruitless. Chanting purifies, illuminates, and awakens divine bliss.
"Oṃ is the divine name. Oṃ is God."
"Oṃkār bina, sādhanā sapahote bikārī re."

Pranayama and flute music
22:05 - 23:14 (69 min)
Prāṇāyāma requires consistent, disciplined practice, not a single intense session. Beginners often complete rounds quickly, but with relaxation, the breath naturally slows, extending the practice time. Use a timer, not a fixed round count, and observe your own rhythm. Never force the breath, as forcing yields no benefit, only resistance. Yet, discipline is required to overcome laziness; apply common sense to avoid both fanaticism and inertia. Practice one type of prāṇāyāma consistently for months to master it. The effects become clear with sustained, longer practice. Sound vibration, like chanting Oṃ, has proven physiological benefits, such as stimulating nitric oxide production, which masters understood before modern science. The process of spiritual refinement, like crafting a flute, involves patiently removing inner obstructions to reveal one's true nature.
"Never force prāṇāyāma. You know, from the Guru Gītā, if you force the prāṇāyāma, you will not gain anything, only contra."
"If you want to manage everything, you will lose everything. But if you keep one thing, you will master this."

Soul is One
23:20 - 0:32 (72 min)
Evening satsang with Vishwaguruji from weekend Yoga Seminar in Novo Mesto, Slovenia. We are all like paras. We can create good qualities in others. When paras touch the iron it becomes gold. Guru is more than paras, Guru can transform the disciple into Guru. If not, either Gurudev is not right, either there is a distance between the Master and disciple. The physical body is called annamaya kosa, while the energy body is called pranamaya kosa. Water is water in each of the forms. Similarly, Soul is one.
