Yoga is now widespread, but a misconception has arisen that it is only āsanas and prāṇāyāma. In focusing solely on these, many have lost sight of their true purpose, practicing something akin to acrobatics instead. This acrobatic display is not yoga. True yoga connects body, mind, and spirit to the cosmic. Many pursue acrobatics, with their activity containing perhaps only 25% yoga. Yoga comes from the yogīs, and the yogī is Śiva. We must recognize the foundation brought by great sages. To engage in real yogic practice, you must have your master, your yogic guru. Some now reject gurus, becoming disconnected from right principles. Our "Yoga in Daily Life" system offers a complete path, encompassing deeper spiritual knowledge and the grace of the Guru. Sādhanā, or practice, is everything in life. When you practice sādhanā in everything, you will attain liberation. We need the Guru's grace to progress. Chakras are energy centers where consciousness resides, defining character and problems. Your destiny (prārabdha) is created by past karma before your body forms. You control your present karma through action, speech, thought, and influence, but once acted upon, deeds become destiny governing future life and all current problems. The Mūlādhāra Chakra is the root foundation of consciousness based on that karma. It is the earth element, colored red for energy and Mother Consciousness. Its awakening brings safety, wisdom, and pleasurable energy, not physical sensations. The chakra's symbols include a four-petaled lotus representing the four ways life enters the world, an elephant symbolizing wisdom and prosperity, an inverted triangle for energy flow, and a coiled snake representing past, present, and future karmas—the dormant Kuṇḍalinī Śakti. Śiva (consciousness) and Śakti (nature) seek union here. Exercises like Bhujaṅgāsana and Śalabhāsana activate this chakra, strengthening the back and influencing the root center for physical and mental balance. Place them in a bowl and add salt, chili, herbs, garlic, lemon juice, and asafoetida. Blend the mixture, adding a few drops of water if too hard. Fry spoonfuls in hot oil for a few minutes until browned. For chutney, blend green chili, garlic, herbs like parsley or coriander, and nuts. Add salt. It can also be made with tomato or paprika. For yoga tea, boil half a liter of water with black tea and spices like cardamom, cloves, pepper, cinnamon, and ginger. After boiling, add a similar amount of milk, cover, and boil again.
