How to be happy
0:25 - 1:12 (47 min)
Recorded on
Evening satsang from Jadan Ashram with some electric failures but good sound. Sadhvi Shanti remembers her Sannyas Diksha in Kailash Ashram 20 years ago. Thursday is the day, dedicated to the Guru, the masters. The bhajan -OM Brahma Shiva Alakha Anadi- composed by Holy Guruji, describes the Guru lineage of Yoga In Daily Life. A short story about judgment and another one about contentment are giving us a practical understanding how to be happy and developing acceptance.
Be humble and God will come
2:15 - 3:01 (46 min)
Recorded on
True devotion manifests as humility, removing all pride. Human brotherhood requires harmony, not conflict. Respect all paths while seeking unity. Great teachers like Mahāprabhujī and Devpurījī bestowed blessings and knowledge, leading many to happiness and prosperity. Their nature was divine and humble. Devpurījī, embodying Śiva, lived with utter simplicity, performing miraculous acts to teach. He once provided water from dry sand and restored a buried animal to life. These acts demonstrate divine grace accessible to the devoted. A proud king claimed no one suffered in his kingdom. God tested him as a beggar, revealing the king's hidden ego. The lesson is that pride blinds one to the divine presence. Therefore, never think "I am good." Abandon ego and negative speech. Cultivate humility, for God resides there. "One should never be proud and not think, 'I have everything.'" "Don’t say to anyone, 'Go away, you are a bad person.'" Filming location: Strilky, Czech Republic
We need a Guru
3:05 - 3:49 (44 min)
Recorded on
Yoga requires a guru for true guidance, not mere physical practice. The Bhagavad Gītā states both the formless and manifest paths are equal, but for embodied beings, sādhanā is easier with a guru's clear instruction. Modern yoga often lacks this, focusing only on āsana and prāṇāyāma without ethical foundations or genuine knowledge. Many teach without having been properly taught themselves. The guru's grace is essential for perfection; techniques alone are insufficient. Avoid negativity and gossip. Strive to be a light. If you cannot do good, at least do no harm, and you will remain on the path. True yoga integrates prayer, ethical living, and the guru's guidance into daily life. "Guru kṛpā hi kevalam—when the kṛpā of the Gurudeva, the blessings of the Gurudeva, that is the greatest." "If you cannot do good, then at least don’t do bad. Then what will happen? We are standing on the path, neither going this way nor that, and then automatically it will go to the white path." Filming location: Slovenska, Slovenia
How should we start our day?
3:55 - 4:38 (43 min)
Recorded on
The wealth lies in the vision of the Guru, a treasure of conscious bliss beyond all ritual. This is the core of spiritual practice. All yoga practices aim to elevate human consciousness to a state of universal love. Begin the day by consciously awakening the body upon rising. Honor the earth as a mother and use water to awaken the nervous system. Greet parents to foster familial unity. Then have darśana, seeing the divine in your spiritual symbols. This conscious approach brings peace to the household. Extend this mindfulness to respecting your food and your work. At work, solidify your roots like a tree endures various conditions; your stability affects others. Even the joyful greeting from a house pet reflects the heart's genuine connection. Knowing "I am human" throughout the day prevents negative actions and fosters mutual respect. "O japā tapa yoga nahīṁ banāyāve, karuṇā nidhi dayā pramāṇave." (Neither repetition, austerity, nor yoga can accomplish it; only the treasure of compassion and grace is the proof.) "Only when we know that I am a human are we awakened the whole day." Without Gurudev, there is no right path
5:35 - 6:17 (42 min)
Recorded on
The singular path to the divine is universal, yet often obscured. Negative thoughts and worldly conflicts, especially in this age, create thorny obstacles. Merely visiting holy places or performing rituals is insufficient without inner purity. The essential guide is the Guru, who provides the key to clarity. Without this guidance, one remains lost despite all efforts. External appearances and religious labels are not the inner cloth of realization. True progress requires surrender to the master's direction. "Gurāsā bīnā kārīj naisarī"—without Gurudeva, no path will be clear. "I have colored you inside. You do not need the outer dress." Filming location: Strilky, Czech Republic
God is the father of all creatures
6:25 - 7:31 (66 min)
Recorded on
Spirituality is rich food for development, not easily digested but granting health and happiness. Satsaṅg clarifies doubts through discussion of the divine, beyond all dualities of form or belief. God is one, whether perceived as personal or impersonal; the impersonal is the ātmā, where non-duality is knowledge. Seeing God's light in every creature is essential—loving them is loving God. A mantra is a seed requiring cultivation. Two seekers received a seed to safeguard. One stored it statically, and it was lost; the other planted it, nurtured it, and harvested abundance. The true disciple actively cultivates the seed in the field of the heart, clearing thorns of doubt and stones of ego, watering it with devotion. Practice is essential; theory is insufficient. Yoga supports the body for spiritual life, distinct from mere sport. Purify inner desires like passion and anger, cultivating good qualities like righteousness and discernment. Human life is for giving love and removing fear. Live in the present, without expectation, and forgive the past. "Where there is duality, there is ignorance. Where there is non-duality, there is oneness; there is knowledge." "Tons of theory are nothing compared to a gram of practice."
Love and Spirituality
7:35 - 8:41 (66 min)

The path to immortality is spiritual, not physical, and human life is the final chance to achieve it. Physical immortality is impossible under natural law; what is born must die. True immortality is the soul merging into the supreme Brahman, becoming everlasting Ātmā. This is difficult, taking many births. The soul is bound by karma, creating destiny through action and reaction. Human life is the last milestone to escape this cycle and achieve oneness. Spirituality is not merely ritual; it is 24-hour purity in all action, thought, and behavior. It means seeing God in everyone, living with compassion, and harming no one. The human intellect, properly educated in fundamental dharma and human qualities, is key. Life's real richness is contentment and generosity, not material wealth. True spirituality is expressed in selfless love and kindness to all creatures. Yogic science describes the body's energy systems, like the 72,000 nāḍīs and key channels like Iḍā, Piṅgalā, and Suṣumnā, which can be balanced through gentle practices for health and consciousness. "Spirituality is 24 hours. Whatever we do should be pure: eating, drinking, behaviour, working, relations, etc." "Do not do to others what you do not like to do for yourself." Real Knowledge Is Self-Realization
8:45 - 9:31 (46 min)
Recorded on
The search for immortality is a search within, for the nectar already present in the self. Time is a man-made calculation based on primordial vibrations, yet the true self is timeless. The struggle depicted in myth is for amṛta, the nectar of immortality. This nectar exists as wisdom, sacred words, and knowledge, but it is sought externally while residing within. The ego must be eradicated to realize this. Like a honeybee taking nectar from poison, one must extract wisdom from all experiences. Dharma is action aligned with this truth, protecting all life and maintaining equanimity. The essence of all teachings is love and non-harm. The living master embodies this direct wisdom. "Within you is the ocean of bliss. Within you is the fountain of joy, and within you is the immortal Ātmā. Just kill this little 'I', this little ego, and lead a divine life." "Brahma-satyaṁ jagat-mithyā. Whatever happens in this universe is all temporary. Truth is that which is the Ātmā." Filming location: Jadan, Rajasthan, India
Taste of the Divine Nectar
9:35 - 10:38 (63 min)
Recorded on
The spiritual path is about tasting true realization, not pursuing powers without discipline. Amāvasyā is powerful for sādhana seeking siddhi, but without discipline, such practices harm like overeating. Our path is sāttvic yoga, ensuring harmony and development without harm. Modern yoga often lacks depth, taught by those with mere certificates, unlike traditional guru-paramparā systems. Self-realization's taste makes worldly pleasures bland. The soul is a traveler, a Bhavrā bee, wandering through births. One must develop discipline to become the purified swan, not the crow. Life is a journey where temptations like ice cream make one miss the train to liberation. Satsaṅg offers the unique taste of divine knowledge, like a rare chocolate. The year ends; reflect on achievements. Maintain a strong saṅkalpa and willpower for self-realization, as everything needed is within. Guṇḍāgiri is the essence, the nectar from the supreme. "Yoga in daily life is a complete system that all of us together design, work with, practice, experience, and pass on." "When you get a taste of self-realization, oh my God, you will be delighted." Filming location: Strilky, Czech Republic
Forgiveness, Kindness and Mercy
10:45 - 11:55 (70 min)
Recorded on
Mercy is the root of dharma and the essential inner talent to awaken. Human life possesses a distinct talent called mercy, dayā. This quality is the foundation of all duty and religion, while ego is the root of sin. Cultivating mercy leads to forgiveness and kindness, lifting consciousness. Anger and pride create suffering and internal conflict. Spiritual progress requires consistent practice to awaken this inherent compassion. All creatures share the divine light, yet humans have the intellect to choose mercy. This choice determines one's freedom and happiness. The journey involves opening the heart through awareness and devotion. "Dayā dharam kā mūla hai, pāpa mūla abhimāna." (Mercy is the root of dharma, ego is the root of sin.) "Tulsī dayā na chhoḍīye, jab laga ghaṭame prāṇa." (Tulsī, never abandon mercy as long as you have life.) Filming location: Alexandria, Virgina, USA

Swamiji's afternoon satsang from Strilky, 15th of July 2010
13:10 - 14:08 (58 min)
Recorded on
The human being is composed of five sheaths, from the gross physical body to the subtle causal body of desires. The physical Annamaya Kośa requires healthy nourishment. The energy body, Prāṇamaya Kośa, is the vital force binding all layers together; when it departs, life ceases. The mental body, Manomaya Kośa, is unstable emotion, connected to greed, anger, and hope. The intellectual sheath, Vijñānamaya Kośa, is the powerful human tool that creates both technology and destruction. The fifth, Ānandamaya Kośa, is the causal body of desires, which perpetuates the cycle of existence. Ten vital energies, or prāṇas, influence health. Ten senses—five for perception and five for action—are the instruments through which we experience and act. The intellect must govern the mind and senses with discrimination, or it becomes a slave to attachment and creates suffering. Every impression from the senses passes through all five layers of our being. Positive intellect, cultivated through proper education and meditation, sows understanding and kindness, while negative intellect breeds pride and harsh words that wound deeply. "Prāṇa is the source of life. Prāṇa is life." "Desires are the cause of all troubles. Desires must be there, but desires are also there to be controlled through intellect." Filming location: Strilky, Czech Republic
Sanatana Dharma
15:10 - 16:09 (59 min)
Recorded on
Sanātana Dharma is the eternal, universal principle, not a man-made religion. It is the cosmic consciousness that creates, balances, and sustains all existence. This divine principle, called Brahman, is formless, nameless, and omnipresent, dwelling within every entity as the inner light or life. The entire universe, governed by this law, emerges from a primordial sound or resonance. All creation, including humans, arises from the five elements, yet the essential self within is one with this consciousness. Great saints and incarnations manifest to guide humanity, often enduring great suffering, as seen in the lives of Krishna's parents, Mary, and Jesus. Their struggles exemplify the path of unwavering faith and service. True spirituality transcends all man-made boundaries of religion, culture, and nation, recognizing the divine in all, especially honoring the feminine principle as the primary creative force. The purpose of human life is to realize this oneness and serve creation. "Sanātana Dharma is that which is balancing, harmonizing, and keeps one in the oneness or unity." "God says that every living being is my essence, my light, myself. This is Sanātana." Filming location: Wellington, New Zealand
Christmas Is To Create Better Social Relations
16:15 - 17:15 (60 min)
Recorded on
Festivals are spiritual symbols placed between seasons to guide human activity and prevent negative thoughts. Major celebrations like Christmas and Dīpāvalī arise when seasonal work ends, creating idle time that can lead to destructive thinking. These festivals serve as active working therapy, occupying the mind and community. They commemorate divine light and wisdom, as seen in the return of Rāma or the birth of Jesus. The external lights symbolize the inner light of wisdom and good qualities within each person. One's own body and spirit are the true festive tree, with limbs as branches and virtues as lamps. Maintaining spiritual practice fuels this inner light, while negativity drains it. Ultimately, divine principles like love and contentment are freely given, while human-made divisions create conflict. True spirituality embraces all expressions within a universal framework. "The great one never speaks about their greatness. Similarly, the diamond doesn’t say that I am a diamond." "Therefore, we should be like a santara, so that in our heart we embrace and keep all the religions." Filming location: Strilky, Czech Republic
Christmas is the festival of Unity
17:20 - 18:15 (55 min)
Recorded on
Christmas reveals the incarnation of love, light, and oneness. Rarely is its true spirit known. Most celebrate without this knowledge, leading to conflict in God's name. True worship respects all religions and incarnations equally, seeing God in everyone. The Hindu tradition exemplifies this by honoring all paths. When we know Jesus as the embodiment of mercy, we cease causing suffering. God is one positive energy known by many names. Our duty is to adore this universal presence. Festivals exist to cultivate love, kindness, and shared understanding, uniting families and communities. Human fear is profound and diminishes our strength. Spiritual faith, an injection of God, counters this fear and maintains peace. Culture is carried by people and brings joy; we must respect all cultures. The real celebration involves praying for the lonely and serving others, surrendering all actions to God to become instruments of light and peace. "To worship that Jesus and that Christmas is real worship. If we do not respect others, then they suffer." "Love unites, and jealousy divides. Love creates harmony, and doubts create fear." Filming location: Strilky, Czech Republic
Theory and Practice: The Two Horses of Realization
18:20 - 18:46 (26 min)
Recorded on
Realization requires both theory and practice. Theory provides the map, inspiration, and techniques, but without practice, we cannot move. Practice is the essential action that brings theoretical understanding to life. We need both elements integrated. Meditation manifests in two primary forms. Passive meditation involves sitting in stillness and self-inquiry. Active meditation is performing duties and creative acts with full, loving attention, such as caring for a child or creating art. This engaged action is also a spiritual practice. In life, we must manage our reactions. When faced with negativity or strong emotion, wisdom involves pausing, allowing inner storms to pass, and choosing not to retaliate. True strength is in calm non-reaction and forgiveness, which ends cycles of conflict. Self-inquiry meditation asks "how" we are, examining our thoughts and actions to find peace amidst disturbance by reframing our perspective. "Tons of theory are nothing compared with a gram of practice." "When a dog bites you, you cannot bite the dog." Filming location: Wellington, New Zealand
Awakening of the peace and compassion within us
18:50 - 19:35 (45 min)
Recorded on
Awakening compassion and peace within is our subject. This awakening is inherent, like a fountain of joy inside. Yoga is union, a way of life beyond physical exercise, where the individual merges into the divine ocean like a river. Every creature contains God's light. Alongside divine qualities, negative energies develop within us, parallel to positive growth. Fear is the root seed of all negative qualities, with the fear of death being strongest. From fear arises attachment, then anger, jealousy, and revenge, which destroy our well-being. Knowledge of the immortal self, the ātmā, is the light that dispels this fear. True peace arrives only when fear is gone, and it is found within, not externally. We must sacrifice greed and fear, with forgiveness being the best protection. "Within you is the bliss of the ocean. Within you is the fountain of joy." "Fear is a seed, fear is a root, fear is the cause, fear is the origin of all our negative qualities." Filming location: Auckland, New Zealand
Only the One is the truth
19:40 - 20:53 (73 min)
Recorded on
Dharma and family harmony are central to navigating modern life. Dharma is of two kinds: selfish and selfless. Selfish dharma forces personal desires, leading to transient outcomes like frequent divorce. Selfless dharma supports parents, children, and neighbors, creating stability. Modern life brings family disharmony, often from differing values between generations. Explain your perspective clearly to parents; they love you and seek your happiness. Avoid external childcare like babysitters and kindergartens, as they weaken family bonds. A parent should primarily raise the child. If both parents work, wealth is not guaranteed, but one income does not mean poverty, and family unity brings happiness. Strengthen family ties by involving children in gatherings and teaching them to love their nation and neighbors, fostering community. Our inner spiritual journey is vital: remember you are the Ātmā; the world is a dream. Practice mantras and stay on your path. "Dharma is of two kinds. One is selfish... The other dharma is to support everyone." "Brahma Satya, Jagat Mithyā. The supreme, only the one, is the truth. And this world is just a dream." Filming location: Zagreb, Croatia
