Closing satsang from Umag, Croatia

A closing ceremony and satsang from a ten-day spiritual seminar.

"You know, when you take antibiotics, they only begin to function after a few days. When we come here, we receive a cure of antibiotics to be healed."

"As Swāmījī said, the first candle is like the Gurudev, and the following candles are the disciples. In that way, by following our Gurudev, we can cross this ocean of māyā."

A speaker expresses deep gratitude for the extended seminar with Swāmījī, comparing the teachings to a healing course of antibiotics and reflecting on the symbolic trāṭak ceremony with candles. Swāmījī then addresses the international gathering, thanking the hotel staff and presenting gifts. The event concludes with a brief, impromptu talk from an expert on implementing vegetarian meal programs in corporate settings.

Praṇām Guru Dev. Warm greetings to all friends, my brothers and sisters here, and to all those watching via webcast. We have had a truly great opportunity here, all of us who were present, because many interesting things have been happening. Usually, during a weekend seminar, Saturday arrives and we are able to release our daily stress and enter into the seminar. But the very next day is Sunday, and we return home. This time, however, we had the chance, as we do in summer seminars, to spend ten days with Swāmījī and absorb more of his energy. You know, when you take antibiotics, they only begin to function after a few days. We live in a world full of many different types of bacteria, and our immune system is as it is. When we come here, we receive a cure of antibiotics to be healed, so our health improves and we can go on again for a few months until the next satsaṅg and the next cure of antibiotics from Swāmījī. So, this was a golden chance for all of us to be so many days here with Swāmījī. We also observed Remembrance Day for the day of non-violence yesterday. As you all remember from ancient times, when humankind began on this planet, fire was something special. The small flames lit yesterday are that kind of fire. You heard Swāmījī speaking about the trāṭak technique, saying that doing trāṭak even once removes our accumulated tensions and stress. We performed trāṭak yesterday, watching all those candles floating far, far into the distance. That is the way we can cross this ocean of māyā. As Swāmījī said, the first candle is like the Gurudev, and the following candles are the disciples. In that way, by following our Gurudev, we can cross this ocean of māyā. Some candles follow directly; some change direction a little. But in the end, all of them follow Gurudeva. We also have some problems, maybe some doubts. It is not easy to be in the fire all the time, especially during such a long seminar. But in the end comes the release and the purification, which we have here in the presence of Swāmījī. As you can see, Swāmījī is always full of surprises. Whoever is organized among you knows that with Swāmījī, you never know what comes next. But this is also the beauty of it—that we are not so rigid. We are not like horses with blinders that can only see straight ahead. We have width of view and flexibility. Thank you, Swāmījī, for all this and for all the satsaṅgs. We hope that before the closing ceremony, we will also have a few words and a satsaṅg from Swāmījī. I will not continue any longer, but I would like to request Swāmījī to give us one more beautiful satsaṅg, one more dose of antibiotics to keep us until the next weekend or the next meeting with Swāmījī. We have been called to a seminar in Slovakia next weekend. So we can cross this ocean and this worldly Māyā. Once again, thanks to everyone for making this gathering possible. I hope we will now have one more satsaṅg from Swāmījī. That was the change of plan I mentioned. It is a custom that wherever sannyāsīs come, they receive a token of our respect. First, we will present something to Swāmījī—a shawl. I can just repeat once again that none of this would be possible without Swāmījī. Once I heard that saints are like the queen bee. When they move, the other bees move behind them. In the same way, we move behind wherever Swāmījī goes; the Bhaktas come. We would like to thank all the sannyāsīs who also make our meeting more beautiful. (Addressing someone) You're not getting? Come on in here. Oh my god. Anyhow, every day one piece is good. So, thank you to everybody. We had a very beautiful ten days here on the coast. It was a blessed time. Now I wish you all the best and a good journey. Practice, purify your antaḥkaraṇa: mana, buddhi, citta, ahaṅkāra. Many blessings to all friends, families, and your colleagues. We will see you here or there, definitely somewhere. All the best. So, that's it. Now I say ten. I'm always very punctual. (Distributed gifts and acknowledgments to children and others) We would also like to express our thankfulness to the representatives of the hotel. We can now say they are our friends. The person who was invisible but very important for this event is the manager of this beautiful resort, Mrs. Irena Kaligaric. Thank you. And this is the manager's right hand. Thank you, Your Holiness. Hotel Manager: My dear guests, welcome back to UMAK. Your Holiness, my dear guests, welcome again to UMAK. These past days have been very deep, with deep thoughts. The last few days, many, many beautiful and deep thoughts were shared. We don't have anything else to add. After that follow our deeds. What I can say is that every one of us can make our own step towards a better, peaceful, and non-violent world. I will repeat once again the thoughts of the great world thinker: "You want to see? Be the change." We tried to be good hosts these days. How much we succeeded, you will tell us. I will not talk too long, so as not to take time from the others. We would like to give you one symbolic gift. This is a kind of symbol for the spirit and the soul. Three weeks ago, we were talking about our beautiful Istria. There are three different colors of earth here: red, grey, and white. From that kind of thought, we are giving you this gift. Please remember us small people here from... And blue—Trinity, Vishnu, Brahma, the blood, and Shiva, the liberation. Thank you. That was for the soul, but there is also something for the body. We have olives here in our resort. This is something produced by our employees. That should also be very nice for your body. (Chairs are brought) Then we would like to thank the chief of reception, Mrs. Ankica Bakić. Mrs. Ankica and her team resisted a few attacks from our yogīs. Also, we would like to say thank you to the chief of cuisine. We can say, because we were present yesterday at such a beautiful vegetarian lunch, we are proud that we can offer such a variety of vegetarian dishes here in Croatia. Mrs. Rozana is the hostess of this work. That means everything you had set up—towels, beds, and everything else—her team has done so much to make it happen. The chefs of the restaurant, so to speak, those who were in charge of getting the food nicely served, the chiefs of the restaurant. What is Emilenko? What is he? And as I said at the beginning, we never know where or what will happen. There were constant phone calls about whether we would have satsaṅg outside or inside. For that, we need electricity and the technical part, and that is Mr. Darko. But he is not here, so we will do something. And the technician, who is also always helping us as we move our satsaṅg from the tent outside on the beach and back—unfortunately, or not unfortunately, he is again working on something, so he is not present here right now. So behind him we have a little sand and a little bit of water. Once again, thank you, and I hope we see each other again next year. Now, you will tell me I'm not a good host. I didn't wish that we would meet here again next year, but I want to wish that now. You are all most welcome. So, see you again next year here in Umag. Swāmījī: So you see, unity makes happiness. This is an international place of unity. All nations, all cultures, all traditions, all religions come to this Adriatic coast here in Umag and feel happy. And so should be the places in the world—that everyone is welcomed everywhere, and everyone should feel at home, as you felt here. As the dear manager said, they were happy to be your host and were happy to have you as such guests. Wherever we go, both sides should be happy. We had a very beautiful, peaceful time here. We had complete freedom to practice, and it was also very good for our children. They had enough space to run and play. Something for not only our soul but for our body was also perfect here, especially in the dining halls. You know, the yogīs were looking forward; they were very quick at the breakfast place. To the program they come slowly, but to the dining... So it was very nice. Thank you very much. Let's see what God's blessing is, when we will see each other again. But definitely we will remember and will try to come. I personally appreciate your service, your kindness, and I pray to the Almighty for the protection of this place, your country, your people, and especially you all, the whole staff. I wish you good health, peace, harmony, love, and long life. Thank you very much, and I'm very happy to see you again this morning. You know, I never have any differences, but sometimes it comes in the mind. That's human weakness. So I'm happy to see among five ladies, one man. Thank you. I didn't mean it negatively, okay? Because now is the time that everyone has equal rights, emancipation, and that should be. It was so in the very beginning, in ancient times, and it's very good. Without ladies, I can't imagine how the world economy would be, or how the world would look. Ladies are the symbol of the mother. And mother is the symbol of love, protection, and care. So, all is balanced here. God bless you. Also, we have many children here. They were very happy. Everyone got acknowledgement. We have here two brothers standing to my left and right. They always take care of us so that everything is peaceful. I would like to once more thank them with a little sweet memory. This goes to my kitchen in Strelka. And present, keep it in your room. Good. So the new generation is here. It means we have to go. Is it Yasmin? Yasmin? Good day, Yasmin. How are you? How are you? This is Chidānand's granddaughter. She's happy, like Yogananda was coming and being happy. Good? Okay. I'm coming very soon. Don't touch my beard, okay? Look, tell Chidānand, "Make good photo." Yeah, that's it. "Make good photo, grandfather. Make good photo, one more." I think because of you, I had to cut my beard. I think I have to shorten it, brother. Okay, good, good. Learn English quickly, okay? Learn English quickly. Bye. Ciao. Ciao. Which of the chocolates do you like? This one, okay. Thank you. Put this in my car, and this is for the children. Put it on the table; the children can take it. Good journey. Have a good trip. All the best. And as usual, we all would like that some volunteers will stay and tidy up this hall. Yesterday, and the day before yesterday, there was a question about a vegetarian diet in schools, in Slovenia and I think Croatia too. We have a very expert person who has been working tirelessly for the last 45 years. We have known each other for nearly 35, 36 years. He brought vegetarian healthy nourishment to hospitals and schools as a second meal or requested meal in the Czech Republic and now Slovakia too. Unfortunately, we missed that. He was here the whole week and could have told us something more. People who are working for nourishment and for this Yoga and Daily Life Union, and also the Slovenian Union of Yoga, should get in touch with him for advice. We have some videos on YouTube, and I think we will interview him more and show you more. It could be a one-weekend-only program on nourishment with him. Many of you know him, Mr. Squirrel. Can you, thank you, Coach Rado? Rado, five minutes. Tell us the very core point. Tell him in five minutes he should tell the very core points of what to do. Rado: I'm shocked, I don't know what to say. But I think Swāmījī means our last idea, presenting vegetarian food in the biggest Slovak company, Slovnaft, which produces 5,000 meals each day. They decided they want to have higher nutritional value in meals for their employees, to be healthier and more effective. They themselves proposed having meals in categories of red, yellow, and green colors. The red category is conventional food, where it is not guaranteed—or rather, it is guaranteed—that every second person will die prematurely from heart disease and every third from cancer. The red category is where there is a guarantee that each second, people will die because of a heart attack or some civilization illnesses. Yellow foods are, for example, fish and poultry, and already 30% whole grain flour, legumes. Those should be eaten by people who are in good condition. The second category, the yellow one, is more healthy. It's for people who would like to be in better condition, and this consists of fish, poultry, and also some whole grain flour. And green foods are essentially vegetarian. Those should be eaten by people who want to have good condition. The last category, the green one, is for people who want to be really very effective and for those who are ill. Those people should eat only the green category food. It is also considered that so-called additives, colloquially called "e-numbers," cannot be in certain quality of meals. They are excluded. There is also a guarantee that the additives couldn't be in some category of food—these e-additives, preservatives, colorants, and so on. After two months of this process running—and it has been running for two months now—from the 13% of people who were choosing the yellow and green category, it has now increased to 40%. And only vegetarian food grows up to 100%. So we can congratulate them. We need this in Croatia and especially in Istria, because in Istria they have a very good wine, which I never tasted, and they have this dry pig meat, and they should get rid of it. That is against non-violence. But olive oil is very good, and wine is also very good. One interesting thing is that this project, which fortunately ran in Slovakia, in Bratislava, was originally prepared for the Ministry of School in the Czech Republic. So maybe it will happen that we will import quality food from Slovakia to the Czech Republic. Good for the Slovakian economy. But the Croatians have much better food. The Croatian harbors, Croatian fields—Croatia has many, many nutritional values in its food, little polluted. You see, it's not because I'm in Croatia now, but I realize that Croatia has a high quality of nourishment here. So you should import this quality food to the whole world. Swāmījī: Yes, we are doing. Export. Rado: So, more information you will find at the website of the Czech Vegetarian Association, which is www.ccv.cz. Thank you. Swāmījī: So in Slovakia, I will be next week, the whole week in Slovakia. And there will be, between 3 and 4 in the afternoon, if the webcast people will be existing, a webcast. About half an hour, 40 minutes, very concrete and very good one, which will be played several times at different times of the day. Thank you. Thank you. Vegetarian. Good journey. Thank you. Others: Sretan put. Hvala vam.
