A Divine Gathering in Remembrance
We gather in remembrance of a divine incarnation. This is the anniversary of Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī. India's soil is sacred, having given birth to countless saints and all twenty-four incarnations. Mahāprabhujī was an incarnation of Lord Viṣṇu. The creation began with Svayambhū Śiva, the cosmic consciousness from which all universes manifest. During the churning of the ocean, a poison emerged that threatened all creation. Lord Śiva drank and neutralized this poison through yogic kriyā, earning the name Nīlakaṇṭha. From that Himalayan lineage emerged the great saint Alakhpurījī, whose presence blesses the region and gives the Alaknandā River its name. Our spiritual tradition flows from these ancient sources. Through the blessings of Alakhpurījī, the great yogī Devpurījī performed miracles in Rajasthan. Mahāprabhujī's birth was foretold by Śiva to his mother, Chandan Devījī, and he incarnated on a Dīvālī night amidst divine signs. We honor this through a night of devotional song and Bhakti Yoga.
"Hardly one village will you see in India where there has not been a great holy saint incarnated."
"Śiva means liberation, Śiva means beauty, Śiva means truth: Satyam Śivam Sundaram."
Filming location: Jadan, Rajasthan, India
