Yoga is a science

Yoga is the science of body, mind, consciousness, and soul, a universal principle of balance and harmony. Our subject is Kuṇḍalinī and the chakras, the hidden powers in human consciousness. The chakras are centers that receive and circulate cosmic energy through the body. We possess five bodies or layers: the physical, energetic, mental, intellectual, and causal bodies. The causal body holds desires and the potential for divine bliss. The soul is a collection of karma and qualities; it does not dissolve until self-realization is attained. Chakras must be purified through mantra and practice for the Kuṇḍalinī to awaken safely. Without proper guidance, this awakening can cause imbalance and distress. Life is love, and love is God. Creating friendship and walking the path with love is essential. The world is a field of karma for development, yet one must remain detached like a lotus in muddy water. The first chakra, Mūlādhāra, is the root foundation. Its red color represents concentrated energy and the earth element. The lotus symbolizes remaining untouched by worldly temptations while fulfilling one's duty. The four petals represent the four aims of human life: dharma (duty), artha (wealth), kāma (righteous desires and progeny), and mokṣa (liberation).

"Yoga without spirituality is like a body without a soul; no achievement can take place without spirituality."

"If you protect your dharma, dharma will protect you."

Oṃ Sukharam Kevam Gyanam Uratim Dvandatitam Magganasadrasham Tasmasyadi Lakshyam Ekam Nityam Vimalachalam Sarvaddhisakshibhutam Bhavatitam Matrigunarahitam Satguru tam namam yam śāntiḥ, śāntiḥ, śāntiḥ hī. Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān kī ce. Salutations to the cosmic light, the Lord of our hearts, omniscient and omnipresent. In his holy presence, dear brothers and sisters, good evening. It is a divine evening, a blessed day, and a most beautiful constellation for us because we are here, dedicating our time for the time being to our real purpose of life, where we can think of God, think of ourselves, and think about all other creatures. Yoga is the science of body, mind, consciousness, and soul. Yoga without spirituality is like a body without a soul; no achievement can take place without spirituality. And we humans do know what spirituality means. Yoga is a universal principle of balance, harmony, and unity. It is not merely physical exercises, breath exercise, and relaxation, but something beyond all this. Our subject in these few days here is Kuṇḍalinī and Cakra, to discover the hidden powers in human consciousness. Yesterday we began with the subject from the very beginning, meaning from the endless universe and the universal consciousness, the balancing principle, the divine will, the creation, how the elements were created, the different planets, our planet, and life on our planet. The difference is between the three lives: water, earth, and space. Then finally we came to the human, the human body, human consciousness. And we spoke yesterday about mind, what is the mind. Now we shall continue about the subject, the Kuṇḍalinī. So first, I think it would be good if we can have this six-minute video, and then I will continue my speech. Also, yesterday it was spoken how the chakras are created in the body, where the chakras are located, and today we shall come a little nearer to the first chakra, which is known as the Mūlādhāra, and what means the kuṇḍalinī. What happens when it awakes? So this is, I hope that we will finish this point this evening. Please, can you start the video? Light off. You have so much light, it costs unnecessary energy. Thank you. But you want to have video, that’s fine. A wheel which is circulating, moving, or continuing. A continuity without interruptions. Our being in this universe is from many, many lives, thousands of years maybe, or millions of years. We are on our journey through the universe, involved in our life with individual consciousness. We are developing and developing. The individual is a part of the cosmic Self. The practice of yoga means reunion. Yoga means union, and the practice of yoga means reunion. We are part of the cosmic self. Between that cosmic self and us is only the quality, which every human has a different quality. Chakra, which is rotating constantly, is how the energy from the cosmos is received and circulated in the body and transmitted further to the different functions. For the different functions of the body. Our body doesn’t have only physical functions; it has more. We have got five different bodies. We call it Kośa. Kośa means the quarters or the layers. Annamaya Kośa, Prāṇamaya Kośa, Manomaya Kośa, Vijñānamaya Kośa, and Ānandamaya Kośa. Annamaya Kośa means the body of the nourishment of this physical body. Prāṇamaya Kośa is the energy body, which we saw in this video, energy. Manomaya Kośa is the mental body. The mind has different functions. Yesterday, mind was explained. What exactly is the mind? Vijñānamaya Kośa is the intellectual body, our intellect. Ānandamaya Kośa is the causal body, the body of our desires. Now, this Ānandamaya Kośa, it has two levels. One happiness, ānanda or joy, which we normally try to fulfill in this life, in the material world, but the joy of the joy is little joy compared to the sorrows of that joy. Where there is joy, there is limitation. It’s limited. It doesn’t matter which kind of joy. But there is a second, called bliss, everlasting happiness. Is there really everlasting happiness? Yes, there is. So that everlasting happiness, the bliss, divine bliss, is representing the divine self within us, the ātmā, self. Soul is not ātmā. Soul is only the collection of our karmas, destinies, and our qualities. When we enter into the cosmic consciousness, or we get the self-realization, at that time the soul dissolves. Nothing remains. That takes the quality of the cosmic One. If the physical body dies, it does not mean that your soul has also now attained liberation. It can be, or it must not be. That depends on our way of living and our practice. Whenever I come, I always give a nice example to understand this more. You see here this glass, very clean, and very clean water inside, transparent. Nothing is inside, only water. The person who brought me here, water, put 10 grams of salt inside, solid. But meanwhile, the salt is dissolved, and we don’t see that. We think salt has become one with the water. Now I drink, yes, inside is salt, and salt didn’t become one with the water. It means the salt changed the form, but didn’t change the quality. Saltiness is still there, and therefore, out of these five Jñānendriyas, which were spoken of yesterday, one of the five Jñānendriyas is our tasting. Our tongue, our gums, tell there is salt inside. Similarly, when this physical body dies and our other bodies and salt, and whatever you may think, all is gone, and we think all problems are finished. No, problems are not finished. The karma in the form of destiny, the problems or happiness, goes with us like the shadow of the body. So the qualities, they are in the astral world, these qualities go with us, and those qualities decide, according to the qualities, in which direction our destiny will lead our soul. Where, in which form, it will be born and what will happen in the life? Chakra is that which is purifying our body, mind, and consciousness. Chakra has to be purified through practice of mantra, prayers, or some yogic kriyās. Then the kuṇḍalinī will awake. The energy will awake, but when beginning awakening, you never know how it will awake. What will it awake? If you have mantras, if you have spiritual guidance, then be sure that your awakening will be pleasant and stable. If you have no spiritual guidance, if you have no personal mantras which you have to practice all the time, then there will be an imbalance. And that imbalance of energy, which you saw in the beginning, can cause unpleasant feelings. If it was only done through the senses, intellect, and mind, then it is not endless misery, but endless misery. But the world will cry for you. So now, count on your fingers how many friends you have who can give life for you. And how many enemies you have? That you can’t count on the fingers, because there are too many. Love is life. Love is life. If in life you have no love... It’s not life. Love of the friends. Love of the nature. Love of other creatures. Life is love. Love is life, and God is love. And love is God, and God is love. Because what is within us is living, it is God. And that can only be happy and felt when love is there. How many friends do you have? So, make more and more friends. In order to make friends, you have to become a friend. Mahāprabhujī said, "If you are five meters far away from me, then I am also five meters far away from you." Mahāprabhujī said, "If you are five meters far away from me, then I am five meters far away from you." So distance depends on you. If you think you don’t like others, others don’t like you. This is your hobby. Therefore, create more and more friends. Then there will be no wars. There will be no fighting. So many of us are sitting here from different nations, and none of us have weapons with us. We are all friends, and we are all happy together. So, world peace, our happiness, and our friendship depend on us individually. It’s in your hands. And therefore, now, at the end of this year, according to Christianity, this year is ending. So remember all your friends. Don’t forget to remember them. And wish them a prosperous and happy new year. And by next year, you should have double the friends. In Hindi, we call it dosti, friendship. Dosti means two, and sati means the truthful. One is going on the path of truth and takes others also on the path of truth. So, we are all on the path of spirituality, the truth. And we shall walk with love, understanding, and harmony. Mistakes happen from everyone. Don’t think that you don’t make mistakes. There will be one day when the person will stop making mistakes. And that day will be the death. As long as your friends are living, they make mistakes, and forgiveness is always there. One stops forgiveness at the time of the death. It will tell you, "Sorry, goodbye." Therefore, I can tell you, the richness in life is the friends, but not as the cheaters and not as the back-biters. But first, you have to make a step towards that. So we don’t know what will happen to this life, but as long as we are in this body, we do our best, do good things, positive things, meditate and pray. Meditate and pray. Repeat the name of God. So I pray to Mahāprabhujī to bless us, as always He is blessing us. And accept the token of our devotion, our love, that his divine light always guides us, that always his saguṇa form is in our visions, and his nirguṇa form is always guiding us. Wish you a blessed and merry Christmas, with much harmony, peace, happiness, and contentment in your family and society. We wish you a very, very happy, successful, and blessed New Year. And looking forward to seeing you again. Here or there, definitely somewhere. Take care, and God bless you. I know. Then do it, it’s alright, do it. But you will not achieve that which you should achieve, and therefore practice correct technique. The mantra, which is the energy the master gives you at the time of initiation, that energy... It is something like if your car doesn’t start because your battery is down, then you bring the other car or battery, and you connect it, and that energy of the other battery will start your car. Then you can go, and then your battery will function again. So we need first push, first awakening, which is dormant here, or from this part. All chakras are very, very important, very, very important. We will come to these chakras, I hope, in a few years through. Because every chakra has its own phenomenon and explanation, which is very important. I went for a driving car to learn how to drive. And the driving teacher took me somewhere, a place where you can just move and drive the car. But for one hour, he was only talking. And I said, "Yes, let’s start." He said, "Moment, moment." And I said, "Yes, I know now." He said, "No, no, wait a moment." He explained everything. And then he said, "Okay, try." And it was not functioning. So he said, first you must have the theory, knowledge, and then practice. Put the theory into practice, and then realize this, and practice is very important. So first was the theory of flying, that we would like to fly like birds. Put it into the theory, and then put it into the practical knowledge. Now, you see the airplane. For me, this is a wonder. It is a practice, practical knowledge. From Los Angeles to Auckland, we flew twelve and a half hours nonstop, 945 kilometers per hour. A big plane, double take. My God, everyone had enough to eat and drink and a place to sit, and everyone had heavy luggage. You know how many thousands of kilos were there? Flying without anything, that is a practice. That is practical. Theory and practice, so yoga should be both the theory and practice. So it’s called Brahmaniṣṭha Śrotriya. Master Brahmaniṣṭha is known, the knower of the truth, and Śrotriya who can inspire us. So not only inspiring us, but can lead us. Both we need, Brahmaniṣṭha Śrotriya. And then things function. So the kuṇḍalinī from here begins. So that’s serpent power. Now, please, yes, yesterday, just very short, yesterday we talked, chakras have on the foot soles, from toes to the heels, and our ankle joint, chakras belong to the earth, from the ankle joint to the knee, to the vegetation, and from knees to the hip. Joined to the animal kingdom, and from the hip joint from Uladar till the Viśuddhi cakra belongs to the human consciousness and is mixed with animal consciousness qualities. And from here upward are the divine cakras. We are stuck somewhere here, and we are confused perhaps here, so let’s come further. Brother, please, Mūlādhāra Chakra, thank you. Well, this is something. Now, this is a methodological picture drawn here. So when you will see your chakras, I don’t think that you will see. It can happen that you will see, but in the case, if you see your chakras, then it will not be exactly like this. So if you don’t see like this, don’t be unhappy. That you are trying for years and years, and you deserve it. So I would suggest, if you want to see this chakra exactly like this, then you have the book located in the chakra. But some symbols are given here. The colors, the symbols, which have their meaning, and that is what is meant and endorsed in that level of consciousness, in that particular chakra. So, this is called Mūlādhāra cakra. So, we come again word by word to what it means, very clearly. First, we come to the name, Mūlādhāra. Mūl means roots, or mūl means the main cause. What was the main cause or main purpose? And Mool means Mool Prakṛti. Ādhār means the base, like this building has a strong foundation, ādhār. The entire building, all the structures, are based on it. On that foundation, the human consciousness or individual personality is based on this chakra, Mūlādhāra. Mūla means the roots, and the roots are very important for our trees to exist. If the roots are cut off or rotten, the tree is also rotten. So this is the name, Mūlādhāra. It’s a beautiful name. Now we come to the color. The color is red. Red color is the color of the energy, Śakti. Energy is again feminine and therefore Śakti, but Śakti is feminine and her color is red. This red color means it is concentrated energy, and our planet, our earth, which is a red planet, is a red earth color. Earth is red, and so Mūlādhāra is earth because this is the earth chakra, the earth element. These five chakras, which we saw from the beginning, Mūlādhāra till Viśuddhi chakra, these are the five elements. Earth element, water element, fire element, air element, and space element. A very nice, beautifully combined set of all elements and functions are put together in this chakra. It is beautiful. It takes a long time to understand. We should first understand and then try to awaken. So red color is concentrated energy here. This is Mūlādhāra. Now we are coming. This is a lotus flower. What does the lotus mean? In Indian mythology, the lotus has very spiritual meanings, divine meanings. It is said that the lotus flower is offered to the god on the altar, or to the god itself, by the divine creatures or divine beings, Apsarās or some devas. Like you have heard, or you believe, there are some angels. Are there some angels? Yes or no. Did you see them? Yes or no. Without their being, this world wouldn’t come. Angels, there are angels who are protecting us, coming. These are astral beings. They exist. They are here in the present, complete in this hall. There are many, many holy angels moving here. Many holy spirits are here. If you can see, you are free to see, please. But in order to see those angels, we have to awaken some of our chakras, the heart chakra and the ājñā chakra, to listen to them and everything. So, angels every morning in Brahma Muhūrta, before the dawn, the sunrise, when the first dawn breaks out, that time the angels come and collect this lotus, and they bring it to God. Secondly, the lotus blossom is a beautiful blossom. And in Indian mythology or in Indian belief, we call God Kamal Nayan. The eye of the Lord is so beautiful, like a beautiful lotus blossom when the lotus opens, like his beautiful eyes open. Well, another meaning of the lotus is now coming down. This is, you know, that lotus plant cannot exist without water. And that kind of water, which is not very clean, is a little muddy, a little dirty. And in this dirty water, muddy water, a beautiful lotus. Water—we spoke yesterday about the moon principle and water. Water means māyā. Maybe there are some ladies, their name is Maya. Please don’t be angry with me. Maya means illusion. Maya means temptation. Maya means darkness, and maya means confusion. Maya, water. Water is that energy, the temptation. Now, this world we call Bhavasāgara, the worldly ocean, the worldly ocean. And the worldly ocean means our worldly situation, our life situation. And unfortunately, we must say the worldly situation is not so clean, is it? We are stuck in. Now, if we want to develop, then we have to incarnate here in this world.
