Realize that you are a human

Human life is the door to exit the cycle of suffering.

You must ask yourself serious questions: Who are you? What is your purpose? This existence is a great circle of time, the Kālachakra, containing 8.4 million forms of life. All creatures revolve within this cycle of rebirth and death, nourishing the lord of death. Your own actions, your karma, determine your journey. Human birth is a rare chance within this circle. Yet, desires itch like distractions, causing you to miss the door to freedom. The aim is liberation from this cycle. Intellectual knowledge or physical practices alone cannot achieve this. Only spiritual development brings purity. This is accomplished through sincere prayer, a personal consultation with God. Prayer brings light and energy, dissolving darkness. You must decide to seek liberation. Practice mantra and discipline under guidance. Correct your diet and way of living. If you miss this human chance, karma will lead you to another form. The ultimate tragedy is to die without realization.

I am happy to see you, and I wish to speak of something very serious. My nature is such that if I do something, I must do it completely. To do things half-heartedly is a waste of time and a pity. I believe you are all spiritual seekers. Perhaps you do not understand this spirituality, or perhaps you do. Maybe you do not understand yourself, and you may not understand God. Many of you are at critical junctures in your lives. I will pose questions, and you must answer them for yourselves. That is very good. Have you ever considered: Who are you? What does it mean to be human? What is the purpose of being born as a human? Do you believe one is born again and again? Do you believe you existed somewhere before this life? Have you ever wondered why you have good luck, or why you always have bad luck? What is the reason for your good or bad fortune? These are common questions one asks oneself. Are you happy, or are you unhappy? What makes you happy, and what makes you unhappy? Be honest now. Go to your heart, ask yourself if you are happy, and answer truthfully. That is all. You can see your reality in your inner mirror. If you cannot see it, your mirror is still too dusty. A day will come when you will think very deeply about what I am telling you now. I am telling you something very serious. Please listen. What I am telling you is not my own words; they are the words of God. Which God? There is only one God. One God who incarnates from time to time. There are 8.4 million different types of creatures, 8.4 million different forms of creation. Do you understand? There is one cycle, a zero, a very large circle. A circle means endless, continuity. Every number has an end, but zero has no end; it rotates, it continues. If I give you a ring, can you tell me where it begins? We cannot say. This great circle has 8.4 million points, and these are the different creatures. This circle is the circle of rebirth and death: Kālachakra. Kālachakra means the circle of time. Time waits for no one. It does not matter if one is a president or a prisoner. This circle does not remain in one spot; it is constantly turning. And there is karma. Do you know what karma is? Karma means your actions—whatever you are doing, speaking, eating, sleeping, running, swimming, talking. Good deeds, bad deeds, even inaction—everything is counted as your action. Your actions influence your life and the lives of others. Karma is personal; you cannot perform karma for your father or mother. They are your own deeds. These 8.4 million creatures are divided into three categories: Jalchar (living in water), Thalchar (living on and in the earth), and Nabachar (living in the air or space). Even a fly is included among the 8.4 million. When they die, they are born again—rebirth. If you do not understand rebirth, can you understand recycling? This modern word 'recycling' is rooted in rebirth. If the recycling process is stopped or blocked, pollution begins. We should not produce anything that is not recyclable. Everything should move continuously. Where there is energy, there is movement. Where there is movement, there is life. Where there is life, there are changes. Now, all of us sitting here belong to that circle. Out of 8.4 million, one creature is the human. It does not matter if one is Hungarian, African, Indian, or American; all are the same—human. Everyone must go through this process, whether they want to or not. There are things that do not depend on your willpower, my dear. You may not want to grow old, but you cannot stop this process. Some people wish to become old. I once thought I would practice so much yoga that I would not age. But every day when I look in the mirror, I see more gray hair. I am disappointed. So, certain things in life you cannot stop, whether you want to or not. You have died many times. You have been born many times. Why are you afraid of death? Who told you to be afraid? How do you know? We are all afraid of death. Even in dreams, we do not want to die. Anyone who is not afraid of death must be unwell. Never commit suicide. Never say, "I don't care, I will die," or "I want to die." If you do such a thing, you are mentally unwell. We are afraid of death, and we do not want to die, but death is cruel. For death, it does not matter how you die. Do you understand? In fire, under water, by a tiger's bite, a building collapsing on you, an earthquake, a car accident, illness, suffering, pain, cruelties, many knives in the body—death does not care. Death is waiting to claim you. Perhaps we are not afraid of dying itself, but of the process—how painful will it be? So, all these creatures—how did they die? How did you die in the past? How did you travel through the astral world and come again into a body? In every life, you had a father and a mother. In every life, you may not have had a spouse, but you had parents. They were different each time. That circle with 8.4 million species is hanging in the mouth of Yamarāja, the king of death. All creatures are his nourishment. He is peacefully eating everyone. How painful is it? He does not think. You are screaming, moving your hands and legs, suffering. He says, "You are my nourishment." Finally, that soul—your soul—incarnated in a human body. Human life is a door to exit the circle, to free yourself. There is a story of a blind man who entered a great hall and wanted to leave, but he did not know where the door was. He had a technique: he put his hand on the wall and began to walk slowly in a circle. He knew that when he touched the door, he would recognize it and go outside. In one hand he had a stick; the other hand was on the wall. When he came within half a meter of the door, he scratched his head and kept walking, his hand on the wall. He missed the door, but being blind, he did not know. He walked on. When he came near the door again, he began to scratch under his armpit. Again, he put his hand on the wall and missed the door a second time. He walked again, and when he came near the door, he had an itch on his stomach and missed it a third time. The fourth time he came near the door, he was so angry. He said, "My God, how big is this hall? I am tired from walking." He waved his hands and shouted, missing the door again. At that moment, someone entered. "Who is there?" "I am, sir. Please tell me, how big is this hall? I cannot find the door." He said, "You found the door, but you missed it." The blind man said, "Are you blind, or can you see?" "I can see. I am a stupid one." "We blind people are more clever than you. My technique is the best. My hand is on the wall all the time. How is it possible that I missed the door?" He said, "Yes, you did. You were scratching different parts of your body, and you missed the door." This hall represents the world. Many times, you are born as a human. But the itching of desires—desires for money, name and fame, a partner, children, education, and so on—you did not concentrate. You forgot the aim of your life, why you came here. You wanted to exit, but you missed the door. Therefore, this human life is the only door to get out of suffering. Now, how? Everything is very good, but please tell us how. How to get out of this circle of rebirth and death, this suffering? We do not know where we will go after death. We think we go to heaven. Have you seen heaven? How does it look? Did you reserve a room there? Who is waiting for you? Or hell? Have you seen hell? How does it look? Did you reserve a room in hell? Is someone waiting for you there? Perhaps heaven and hell are fairy tales. Or perhaps not. The question is this: in the present, we are suffering. We are human, and we should know what it means to be human and why we are born as humans. For this, we must decide one day: "Yes, after this life, I wish to be liberated. I do not want to come between the teeth of Yamarāja, the king of death. I will not suffer anymore, and my mother will not suffer anymore from carrying me in her body and giving me birth. I will liberate my mother, and your mother, and your father." For this, you have to decide first. After all trials, the best way is the spiritual way. Tons of theories will not help you. Tons of theories are nothing compared to a gram of practice. Intellectual knowledge will not solve the purpose of our life. Doing only sports, āsanas, and prāṇāyāmas will not solve the purpose of our life. You can study and study, but it will not solve the purpose. Only one thing will: develop spiritually. What does spirituality mean? Spirituality means purity. Pure. There is no impurity. Light is light; there is no darkness. So we have to make our consciousness, our mind, and our heart pure. Through what? Prayer. When you pray, you have a personal consultation with God. When we prayed here this evening, you were receiving the spiritual power of that Master. His quality, His personality, comes to you. As you come closer to the light, the darkness disappears. Prayer should come from the heart. No yoga practice will be successful unless you pray. God is one in different forms. You see the moon in the sky today. If you place many cups filled with water—a black cup, a green cup, a red cup, a yellow cup, a white cup, a small cup, a large cup, a long cup, a round cup, an oval cup—in every cup you will see the reflection of the moon. Not two moons, only one. Five hundred cups will each have one moon, but in the sky there is only one moon. So it is with God: the one God is in all, and all are in Him. God Kṛṣṇa said, and other gods have also said from time to time: "I incarnate, I manifest myself. I incarnate for the sake of my devotees and to destroy the darkness and evil power from this world." So when you pray, you receive immense light and energy. Prayer should be done many times a day. But if you have no time, at least do it in the evening and in the morning when you rise. You see, people who believe—Muslims, for example—pray several times a day. It does not matter where they are: in an aeroplane, on a train, at a railway station, an airport, a supermarket, or a forest. When the time comes, they take their small cloth, their āsana, go to a peaceful corner, and pray for a minute. In God's eyes, there are no Muslims, Christians, Hindus, Buddhists, Jews, or Orthodox—only humans. Our religion is humanity. So, prayer. That will liberate you from the cycle of rebirth and death. If you miss this chance, you do not know in which life you will go next. You cannot say, "I will be born again as a human." No. You will be born in whatever form your karma leads you. A human can be born as a small ant. It is not about the body, but the quality of the soul. The soul is not big or small. It can be a thousand times smaller than an ant, so small you cannot see it, even formless. Karma will lead you there, my dear one. Many things happen in life, good and bad. But the most terrible tragedy that can befall a human, a tragedy so great you cannot imagine, is for a human to die without God-realization. I do not wish this for you. I wish for you that you will have this realization and come out of the circle. That is why I am here today. But it will only be possible if you do it, if you follow it. Muslims pray a few times a day, but a yogī prays 24 hours, constantly, in the form of the mantra. Your mantra is your prayer. Twice a day, or once a day, you should pray the complete prayer we did here today. I was surprised this evening. There are many old disciples in Debrecen who do not know the prayer by heart. What are you doing here? What have you done for three, four, five, six, two years? Do you have your mantra? You gave me the responsibility. When you become my disciple, I have a responsibility. I am your spiritual lawyer, and we must win. If you cannot win, you will blame me. So you have to be truthful and practice. I could tell you many things about yoga. Practicing neti is very good for cleaning the nose. Dhauti is very good for cleaning the alimentary canal. Basti is very good for internal cleansing. Marjari is good for ladies. Cobra pose is good for men. Sarvāṅgāsana is good for the thyroid gland. It is scientific. It is good against high blood pressure and diabetes. But what will this help you with? One day you will die, whether you have diabetes or not. Realize that you are a human. Whenever God incarnates, He incarnates as a human. When you attain realization, there will be no difference between you and God. So we have to work until that point. Do not think you are already realized. No, we are not realized. We are on the way. When you are completely realized, when you have God-realization, if you wish and touch this microphone, it could turn into a plant. We are not realized. We can wish, but nothing will happen. That is it. You cannot become holy by thinking. If liberation came merely from thinking you are liberated, the world would be empty. It is not like that, my dear. Discipline. Practice mantra. Obey the words of the Master. Realize what the Master is. Understand the Master's words. Then serve the Master and receive His kṛpā, His mercy. Then something will happen. Also, you must correct your diet. Do not eat meat. Do not eat dead bodies. Those who eat dead bodies... they are like Yama in this world. Humans are protectors, not destroyers. Those who eat meat, eggs, fish, and such—for them the door is open to re-enter the circle of 8.4 million. Please do not miss this chance. I tell you, be merciful to yourself. Keep the Master's picture with you. Whenever you see Him, even in a picture, it enlightens your consciousness. When you pray and light a candle in front of the altar, that energy comes to you. During prayer, when you place some prasāda—some nuts or fruit—on the altar and later eat it, it is like nectar. It is a healing process. That food becomes healing food for you. Eating, drinking, sleeping, and procreating—animals are also very active in these. Then where is the difference between humans and animals? So think it over. Ultimately, you have to decide. My duty is only to tell you so that you will not suffer in the future, so that you will not have the pain of death and birth. Whenever I am in Debrecen, I ask these questions: Who am I? From where do I come? Why did I come into this world? What is the purpose of my coming? Am I doing the right things for which I came? Do I know where I will go? If not all questions, then just two: From where did you come in your past life? And where will you go? Let us say you will die in one hour. We will be very sorry and unhappy because we will miss you. What does "we miss you" mean? It is because we do not know where you are. The physical body lies before us, but you are not that. How clear things are in our life: the body is there, but we say you are not here, you are gone. Who is gone? Can we keep the body? No, we cannot. We will burn it or bury it. We miss you because we do not know where you are. We cannot make a phone call, send an email, or a fax. Nothing. Lost and gone forever. Oh, my darling, lost and gone. Can you tell us now, before going, where will you go? Do you know? Then we could find you there. You do not know. Death is like jumping into darkness. You see everything. You feel pain, pleasure, happiness, unhappiness. And how you are, no one can help you. That will be your condition. Therefore, we wish that when we die, our soul dissolves in the light of God. The drop falls back into the ocean and becomes one with it again. The origin of the drop is the ocean, and it returns to the ocean. So, think over what I have told you. If there is something you did not like, please do not feel offended. If you are offended, please forgive me. I told you purposely, definitely purposely—not to offend you, but to help you. I tell you, it will be a great pity, a great tragedy, if you die without realization. Some have many desires; some are very young and face many temptations; some have intellectual egos; some cannot understand. These are your obstacles, my dear. You must set all else aside and come to one point: mantra, japa, practicing, and praying. Everyone should get the prayer text. Next time I come to Debrecen, you should pray by heart, without a piece of paper. Then you are the devotees of Debrecen. Otherwise, it is a depression. I wish you all the best. Find your way. Find spirituality. If you wish mantra blessings from me, of course you are most welcome. Or seek them elsewhere, where you feel comfortable. But with me, I am strict. I will always ask: Did you practice? Are you following the disciplines? Because I take responsibility for it. I think tomorrow there will be some time for mantra initiation. Those who wish to receive mantras should do so. Then you must follow the Master. So, think over what I told you. Nothing will go with you. Not your partner, your children, your parents, your studies, your company, your money, your house, your jewelry, your beautiful dresses, or your body. Your ego will not go with you. Your jealousy will not go with you. Your greed will not go with you. Everything will stay here. You will go again, very poor, alone. That is it. So, think of yourself. Bless you. I bless your evening and wish you good night.
