Life is a change

Concentrate on your sādhanā, for time is impermanent. Compare your practice over the past year honestly; your body and aura reveal the truth. Time is lost if not used. Everything changes: health, happiness, and destiny. From king to beggar, beggar to king—such is time's law, as shown by historical figures and the story of Rāvaṇa. His great sādhanā brought power, but his ego led to destruction. Ego, in any form, destroys. Time waits for no one. Therefore, be careful and pray to remain in life's middle stream. The law of karma dictates change, regardless of belief. Now, prepare for Guru Pūrṇimā by becoming pure and spotless within. Utilize this time for spiritual practice, not social pursuits. To benefit most, sleep early, eat less, and maintain silence. Make a resolve: do not think or speak negatively. Welcome all visitors with a warm heart, free from jealousy, to receive the blessings of this time.

"Time will not wait for us—not so near, not so far."

"Do not think negative, and do not speak negative—about anyone, even not about yourself."

Concentrate on your programs, the purpose for which you came here. Of course, we meet here after a long time—friends from different countries—and you wish to speak with them. That is all right. But too much talking is a waste of time. If you repeat your problems to someone again and again, it will not help you solve them; it will create more problems. Concentrate on your sādhanā. We meet again after one year for this summer program, this long-term program. Now, ask yourself, compare yourself honestly: how much practice have you done during the whole year? How many āsanas, prāṇāyāmas, meditations, and mantras have you practiced in the last year? How many āsanas have you been practicing? Your body tells me now. You do not have to tell me how many āsanas you have practiced; your body tells me. And how many prāṇāyāmas and meditation mantras you did—that tells me your aura now. What is to be done? If we have not practiced, now no one can help you, because the time is gone. One year is lost. We know that not every day is the same; every day is different. Changes we must expect in our life: from good to bad, and from bad to good. Happiness and miseries, good health and illnesses—everything is changing; our destiny is changing. We cannot remain in the same position all the time. It is said: God can make a king a beggar and a beggar a king. Rājā se raṅg, and raṅg se rājā. That is possible. One day, a king will become a beggar, a prisoner. And one day, the prisoner or the beggar will become the king. Time will bring the change. If you observe this modern civilization, you can also see. Ten, twelve, or fifteen years ago, the president of the Czech Republic, Mr. Havel, was in prison during the communist regime. Now he is the president of the country. At the same time, consider what happened in Romania. The president of Romania was once very powerful, like a king, and one day he was shot. Time changes, like a crazy dog. In the past, too, there were many stories. They thought they would be king of the world forever. There was a great king, Rāvaṇa, in the Rāmāyaṇa. Rāvaṇa was a very mighty king; he had power over the dead. No one could kill him, and death was afraid of him. All nine planets and constellations were in his service. He told them, "Always have a good constellation on me. If any star projects a negative radiance on my birth position, I will blow you up." The king of heaven, Indra, was always hiding himself from Rāvaṇa. No one was wiser than Rāvaṇa. His sādhanā was so strong: he cut off his own head ten times with his own hands and offered it to Brahmā. Each time he cut his head and offered it, a new head appeared. He did this ten times. On the tenth time, God asked him, "What do you want?" He said, "I want immortality. I will not die by anyone, nor by death. No enemy, no human, no animal can kill me." But God said, "There must be some way to bring you closer to death." Rāvaṇa said, "Do not worry, I will deal with death." He was the king of Sri Lanka at that time. Then his ego rose. The distraction of humans begins with the ego. Distraction begins with the ego. He thought, "Now no one can defeat me." And he was then killed by God Rāma. So nothing is forever. When ego comes, that thing is destroyed. Ego can come in many different ways: ego of age, ego of beauty, ego of physical power, ego of social power, ego of political power, ego of material power, ego about your knowledge, your studies, your positions. Ego destroys everything. Time will not wait for us—not so near, not so far. Some people are blind, and they think everything will remain as it is. But time will not wait for us. Rājā se raṅg, and raṅg se rājā. From the king to the beggar, and from the beggar to the king, God can do it. Therefore, we should be very careful. We shall pray to God. We should pray to God that we remain in the middle stream of our life. Mahāprabhujī said in some of his bhajans: You know that Brahmā is the creator. He has a very high position; he is the Holy Father. But it is said one day Brahmā will become a small ant. And this small ant, which is here one day, will become Brahmā. No one is there to change this law. That is the law of time and the law of karmas. Therefore, changes are there in life. Whether we believe or not, belief cannot change the reality. No language, no tradition, no belief, no philosophy, and no religion can change the reality. Truth is the truth, and that truth is this today: What have you done the whole year? Either you have done nothing, or you have done something, which you see now with me. Now we are in this Guru Pūrṇimā Purva. "Purva" means the time—the week, month, season, or the time. Everywhere, in every ashram, at every master’s place, disciples are preparing for Guru Pūrṇimā, satsaṅgs, and ceremonies. You are the fortunate ones, that we will be whole this Guru Pūrṇimā, together the whole week. Guru Pūrṇimā is very soon, in five days. You have to enter into this light now—into the full moon light, fullness, completeness. But you can only enter if you are pure. The sun is white. When a white bird flies towards the sun, after a while it disappears; you do not see it anymore. But the black one, you can see. So you have to become inwardly white, nirañjan—spotless. If you have jealousy, doubts, complexes, greediness, anger, or sadness, then your whole year you will be like this. Therefore, be a yogī and utilize your time to make your sādhanā here. You did not come here to find a boyfriend or a girlfriend. You have been in your home countries all year to find friends. Here, you should concentrate more on your real aim in life. This week will be a very spiritual week. If you cannot manage to be spiritual, then at least you should not destroy the atmosphere here. Therefore, attend all the programs and try to become desireless. If you cannot become completely desireless, then at least you should be a little bit less lazy. Otherwise, many kaleśas will come into your mind. Let us be together and have a very spiritual, beautiful week. I can tell you now who will benefit most from it, not at the end of the week. Those who will most profit or benefit from this program will be they who go to sleep at the right time. Azok fognak a legtöbbre profitálni, akik időben mennek aludni. Najse koristi dolog program, imači oni koji budu išli na spavanje na vreme. The right time to go to sleep, and eat less. Akik időben mennek lefeküdni, kevesebb édesnek. Less eating will protect you from the tāmas guṇas, and early sleeping will protect you and help you to get up early in the morning and do your meditation nicely, not in half-sleep. So, I have already given you the tip. Those who will be the winners, who will gain more spirituality and benefit from this sādhanā camp or seminar, are those who will go to sleep early and keep mauna. I tell you, and I will observe who is keeping mauna and who is talking too much. And who goes to bed on time? That is it. I have told you all the secret things, how to gain good benefit from this program. If you like, you can make one saṅkalpa: two things you will not do during this seminar. That will make you holy, at least as long as you are here. Two very simple things: do not think negative, and do not speak negative—about anyone, even not about yourself. Do not let negative vibration enter your mind, your brain. Do not think negatively, do not speak negatively. It is very simple. Going to sleep early is very simple. You have prepared a bed here; how nice. You can get up early; no one prohibits you. You have no work, no obligations. Eat, sleep, and practice—that is all, three things. I know it is not easy to eat less, but still I can suggest it. It is very easy: just do not think negative and do not speak negative. Let us try this this week. Many of our spiritual brothers and sisters will come for Guru Pūrṇimā. You should happily look forward to seeing them and welcome them. Thursday is Guru Pūrṇimā. It is a fasting day, but we get whole day prasāda. I think we shall stop this fasting and enjoy good fruit. On Guru Pūrṇimā day, you will be like a host. You will be a good host with a warm heart and a cool mind. You must welcome everybody in such a way that they never feel so welcomed anywhere in the future. Do not be jealous: "My God, why did he come here again? Oh God, again she came here. She came last and went first to Swāmījī." I can feel it. Therefore, I tell you already now: do not spoil this divine pearl of Guru Pūrṇimā with negative qualities. I will observe how you welcome all friends from different countries. Some groups will come in the morning and go away by noon. They will come around noon or afternoon and go home in the evening. Some will come to the evening satsaṅg and stay until 9, 10, or 11 in the evening. Some will sing bhajan the whole night, and the next day you will be sleeping the whole day. It will be very nice, and the blessings of Mahāprabhujī, Devapurījī, and Gurujīs will be showering on us—all three of them, in different ways. Devapurījī’s blessings can be like a hot sun shining. Devapurījī’s blessing may be nice moonlight. Holy Gurujī’s blessing is like a beautiful moon. And Mahāprabhujī’s is a nice big umbrella, like a cloud and nice rain. Mahāprabhujī is like a big, small cloud. So it can be raining, it can be sunny. But I think it will be a nice, warm evening and day. Let us make a beautiful Guru Pūrṇimā feast and welcome all with a big heart. Wait with a big, warm heart for everyone who will come.
