The Awakening of Inner Potential
Humans possess a unique intellectual capacity and an even more miraculous inner potential, hidden from most. Awakening this potential—the Kuṇḍalinī—means awakening inner knowledge and consciousness. This occurs when the cosmic energy within the body is purified and directed upward. This same energy pervades the cosmos and accumulates in the body at vortices called chakras. While thousands exist, eight are primary in Kuṇḍalinī yoga: five along the spine for normal existence and three above for spiritual development. Through yoga, prāṇāyāma, meditation, kriyā, and mantra, we can harmonize these centers. However, the guidance of a spiritual master, a guru who removes ignorance, is essential on this path to enlightenment, which is the ultimate aim of human life.
"Awakening of the Kuṇḍalinī means to awaken one’s inner knowledge, that innate potential which exists in each and every person as our birthright."
"The Sanskrit word guru means the remover of darkness. It is that one who removes the darkness of our ignorance and kindles in us the light of wisdom."
