Benefit is in the valuating
The value of spiritual practice lies in your own devotion, not in external objects. An object's price fluctuates, but the object itself does not change; your profit or loss is determined by the value you assign. Similarly, God and the Master remain constant. Your spiritual gain or loss depends entirely on your bhāva—your respect, appreciation, devotion, and love for the divine. Doubt creates loss, while faith creates benefit. Your liberation is in your hands; heaven is temporary like a hotel stay, but mokṣa is everlasting. A story illustrates this: disciples with jealousy asked a Master if a bird they held was alive or dead. The Master replied that its life was in their hands. Your spiritual progress is likewise in your hands. Faith can move mountains. Grace collects where there is humility, not ego. The luckiest day is meeting the Master, which awakens you from ignorance. Love for Brahman is the aim of life, a devotion distinct from worldly love. Your inner atmosphere is created by your thoughts; you can master them to change from unhappiness to happiness.
"Bhāva means your respect. Bhāva means your appreciation. Bhāva means your devotion."
"My dear, if the bird is dead or alive, that I cannot tell you, because its life is in your hands."
