Gurupurnima celebration 2011/ Part 4

The true Guru is the immortal Word, the śabda, which is the essence of all reality. The physical form is a temporary instrument made by that Word to awaken beings. The disciple's true nature is the ātman, destined to merge into that śabda. Liberation is attained instantly upon meeting the true Satguru, whose grace settles all karmic accounts. The Guru is the eternal protector and the only refuge, ensuring the disciple transcends death. Following the Guru's command for service and remembrance is the natural expression of that liberation. The root of all worship, mantra, and liberation is the Guru's grace.

"The real form of the Guru is the śabda itself."

"The Satguru who bestows the Name, no one can snatch it away."

Tell the bound ones that this āśrama is your own home. Not everyone needs so many people to gather for the gym. The restless, the busy—those who grow in their own realm, you have seen the disciple, have seen the mine; the disciple is of the śabda, the śabda becomes Brahman. Truly, the real form of the Guru is the śabda itself. The body is made by this śabda to help the beings of the world understand. This body is held only to extinguish and ignite; both the guru and the disciple must ultimately leave it behind. The guru is immortal, eternal, unchanging, and the embodiment of truth and light. The disciple’s true form is the ātman, which in the end will merge into that very word. The guru is, in essence, the word itself; they are this world. I have taken this body only to awaken the jīvas and to guide them. The soul merges into that very śabda; similarly, the human soul is but a ray of that śabda. The Satguru is the śabda, and the śabda itself is the Satguru. Within that very śabda lies the true nectar of immortality. The Satguru imparts teachings to his disciples through that same śabda. They say that only when we meet the Gurū can our love for them arise. It is their love that can connect us to the love of that Paramātmā, upon whom the Sadgurū leaves His imprint. Such souls do not have to go with the messengers of Yama. No one can take away the name that the Shatgurū bestows. Neither the wind can blow him away, nor can fire burn him, nor can thieves or robbers plunder him, nor can water drown him. The Satguru who bestows the Name, no one can snatch it away. Such Satgurus come themselves to take the servant at the time of death and do not allow him to go with the messengers of Yama. The Satgurū is our true friend, our protector—not in this world, but in the realm of bliss, the devotee also helps us and guards us forever. The Satgurū is very affectionate, a companion, a lover as well, so that even while living, one does not separate from Him; ultimately, one does not go with anyone else, nor does anyone help anyone else. Such satgurus, such satgurus always help and protect us. When the boundless grace of the sadguru descends, all accounts of our karmic debts are settled. That is why the sadguru and saintly Mahāpurushas have said: three pieces of vegetable to eat, without loan, tulasī green, jaggery, guvar, baste, Indra, bāpaḍo, kun. In the presence of a sadguru, saint, or great soul, even the throne of Indra, the king of gods, is insignificant. The offerings of three small vegetables, bhaji, bhin lon, tulasī, harde, and raguvar rain down from Indra’s realm. If one is fortunate enough to have the darśan of such a sadguru, then liberation is attained—liberation beyond all else. My liberation happened on that very day; I met the Guru, and my mukti, my liberation, was accomplished on that day itself, the day I received Gurudev. When we met, when we met Satphurṣ, that day my liberation was accomplished, my liberation happened that very day, having met the Guru was auspicious. Now such a Sadguru’s refuge is never abandoned. After coming into the refuge of such a Sadguru, our mokṣa is already attained, so doubt arises. After meeting the Sadguru mokṣa is indeed attained, mokṣa being attained. After that, whose bhajan should I do, whose remembrance should I keep, and when should I give charity or serve—this decision was made that very day. It is only the guru’s command; I follow the guru’s command. The guru’s command is to serve, to do bhajan, to remember, to have compassion. This is the guru’s command, and I follow that command. Therefore, my liberation happened that very day. By the grace of Gurudev, I have received boundless blessings, so I offer my respectful salutations to Guruji Maharaj and dedicate this speech. Whatever understanding you have, share it as much as you can; do not feel ashamed, nor question where it came from. This is the joy of the supreme beings of Sadguru Dev in the present moment. So do this: sit with your hands joined in a gesture of reverence, and those who know the ārtī of Gurudev will recite it together. Those who do not know the ārtī should either close their eyes or keep them open and meditate on Gurudev. Remain seated, join your hands, and offer your prayers. You may be a little different—light a candle, ring the bell. Who will perform the ārtī? You all will sit, and I will stand. Light the incense sticks, brothers, for Gajānand Bhagavān, for the great Puriś Mahādev, for Devaśvara Mahādev, for the lamp bearer Bhagavān. Guru Swāmī Mādhvanan Jī, Bhagavān Kapil, Bhagavān Śaṅkarācārya, Bhagavān of eternal truth, Om, victory to Gurudev; the humble ones do not waver in their devotion. Victory, victory to the lotus feet; victory, victory to Kaṇḍā Bāvā, the devoted servant who beholds them. Victory, victory... Gurum devātāya sabbā, Gurum devātāya sabbā. The body is indivisible, beyond form, untouched, without support, free from impurities, pure in essence, silent—salutations to the all-pervading, transcendental, illuminating wisdom, the eternal truth. O Dharṇa Parāvara, O Pāṇa Paravandhi Nandana, I bow to You, the refuge of the lamp, the giver of refuge. Victory, victory to the compassionate Lord Shiva, the auspicious root of the ear, Sri Deepa. Gyana Vaira, Shraddharabho Vandho Sharana Gurudeva, Sri Deva Purisa Shukudaya Yoga Yogatī Jeśmṛti Prabhu Jāni Bāla Ti Mira Gaye Arujat Ravī Bhāī Jñāna Srī Dīpa Prabhu Sarī Vīnatī Sun Joga Namo Namo Gurudevajī. Millions and millions of salutations, moment by moment, to the Lord. I humbly pray to the ocean of goodness. Just by taking the name of the Lord, everyone experiences immense bliss. You are the true Satguru, the disciple’s life and soul. The supreme great Guru, the Lord of the three worlds, the deity of gods, the purest among saints, always engaged in service. The Satguru is the embodiment of all virtues. All the beings of this world raise their hands in supplication to You. What is a king, what is a servant, all are mere shadows; what is a king, what is a servant, all are mere shadows. Who can truly know Rāma and Kṛṣṇa? Even the guru does not appear three times before the true Satguru. The Satguru is the perfect Brahmā; those who do not recognize this are lowly and base. This body is like a barren field, and the guru is the mine of death. Even if one meets a hundred gurus, it is all in vain without the true Satguru. The Guru’s form is like the moon; the servant’s eight feet are incomparable. The lotus feet of the Guru—Om Gurur Brahmā, Gurur Viṣṇu, Gurur Devōṁ Maheśvarā, Gurur Śākṣār Para Brahmātara—Salutations to the revered Guru. The knee is the seat of the Guru’s worship; the root is the Guru’s feet, the origin. The Guru’s grace—Om, the lamp, the light, the supreme Brahma lamp. Sarve Mohanam Dipanam Sajyate Om Namo Prabhudipa Vinasi Api Brahma Api Vishnu Apokalashkira You are the river, you are all the waters, you are the essence of all waters, you are the knower of waters, you are the wise one of waters, you are the yogi of the earth, you are the god, the goddess, you are the brave illuminator, you are Brahman, the liberator, you are the treasure of the universe. You are the knower of the waters of the Vedas, the dweller of the waters, the giver of the hundred names of the waters. Stop talking and come forward, four or five of you, three or four, come with the prasād. Distribute the prasād to everyone, call someone to help distribute the prasād. See, there is no hand in it; it is open. Hold one and distribute to another. Alright, dear son, Kāśivād son, Bas Ariyom, come, Sakan ji, webcast okay. Or Wi Deep Narāyan Bhagavān, when we sing bhajans in Hindi, when I speak, my devotees who have come from foreign countries do not understand Hindi, yet they remain completely silent and attentive. If you say "pinch silent" in English... It is a very effective technique to silence them. If someone speaks, just apply pressure firmly. Do not apply any uneven pressure; apply steady pressure for three to four days continuously. If it persists, then just say, "Either speak or apply pressure." Otherwise, it will not stop right in front of us. Wherever a person turns on a computer, you can see that there are about 218 countries. In any of these 218 countries, if anyone turns on their computer and searches for Swāmījī TV Television, Swāmījī Television will immediately appear, whether you have a computer here or on your device. You can watch it sitting on your mobile phone as well, Swāmījī at www.swamiji.tv. Śānti will speak in two languages; first, she will speak in German for those devotees who only speak German, and after that, Śānti will share about her medical diploma. Everything is done in French. She is a very good speaker of French. When she speaks French, even the French people feel... So you keep listening, and if someone speaks, just ignore or dismiss it. So now our dear Shantiji will give the message for Guru Pūrṇimā through our webcast, which can be seen anywhere around the world. First, she will speak in German for 10-15 or 20 minutes, it doesn’t matter—we have the whole night. After that, you all know or may not know, Shantiji has completed her study and earned a doctorate diploma in the French language from a French school in Vienna. Her French is so perfect, so excellent, that even native French speakers are amazed at how well Dr. Shantiji speaks French. So first, he will talk about French and English. He will speak about French for about 15 minutes because of Africa, French, Quebec, Canada, Algeria, and so on. I told the Indians that though our European Bhaktas... They do not understand Hindi, yet see how silently they are sitting. But these people, they are talking all the time, so I taught them a technique to keep them silent. If someone is talking with them, you twist their skin with your nails, harshly, tightly, like a cobra bite. Dip Narayan Bhagavān’s Sadvi Svāmījī Sāntik’s friend. The root of meditation is the form of the Guru, the root of worship is the feet of the Guru, the root of mantra is the name of the Guru, the root of liberation is the grace of the Guru. The supreme bliss-giver, the ultimate bestower of joy, the only true form of knowledge, is like the sky, free from duality. This is the mark, one and eternal, pure and immovable: Om Deep Jyoti Parabrahma, Dipam Sarve Mohanam, Dipam. All beings gather at twilight, the lamp of all truth shines, and the enlightened one attains perfection. Now you... Pūrṇimā, pūrṇimā... O Master, and the Master is the Guru who leads us from darkness to light, and it is the day when we... It is very good if you can be with the Master. I have been with Svāmījī for 34 years now, and every day with him is a great surprise. I have received so many gifts, so many wonderful things that I am always completely surprised and filled with happiness with all the blessings that I receive. We are facing a difficult time at this moment, as you all know, and it is the moment to devote our concentration to our Sādhana.
