Gurupurnima celebration 2011/ Part 9

True wealth is found in grace and devotion, not in material possessions. A laborer earns little, yet a boss with money may lack respect. When a poor person arrives, they should be received with honor, for that is true wealth. The intention to serve is paramount, not the act of giving money itself. Suffering arises from a clouded intellect and the illusion of personal accomplishment. All action and capability flow solely from the guru's grace. Thinking "I did this" fragments everything. The words of a saint hold transformative power, making kings from paupers and the impossible possible. Devotion to the guru is essential for as long as one lives; to be without the guru is akin to hell. Ego is the enemy within that leads to downfall. Our true wealth lies in bhajan and sincere service.

"The words of a saint, the speech of a saint, can make a king from a pauper, can make a pauper from a king."

"Only the one who acts truly, who dwells in the word of the Bānī throughout the entire world, speaks thus."

Part 1: The True Wealth of Grace If a laborer works for a day, he earns five or ten rupees. At that time, the salary was around one lakh crore rupees. Within ten or fifteen days, the boss became immensely wealthy. In Gujarati, it is said: there was no nānā, there was no nānā without a nānā. If there is a nānā, the boss will say, "Why are you sitting here?" Why are you sitting here? Because he possesses money. And when a poor person comes and sits, it should not be mere sitting but a respectful reception; that is the true wealth here. Now, if someone arrives in first class on a train with ten pieces of luggage, what difference does it make? So, when I came to Khāṭū, I thought I should establish a dharmaśālā at Khāṭū station. Mahāprabhujī said, "What will you do by taking money? Bābājī wants to build a dharmaśālā at Khāṭū station, to open a Rām rasodā. Your devotees come and face difficulties. If you have the intention to do something..." Then Mahāprabhujī said, "Don’t be stubborn or foolish, don’t be obstinate." He said, "Bābājī, just see properly. If you want to give, then see carefully. If you do not want to give, then you keep hesitating." The money arrived, and they were welcomed in the village, and the village was celebrating. Ten days had passed, and he had not gone to Mahāprabhujī. Then he went and took a fine chadar and mālā to Mahāprabhujī, probably giving five or ten rupees as dakṣiṇā. Father went to Jodhpur and had about ten sets with him. When he went to Jodhpur, he played the numbers game, but the numbers kept fluctuating. None of his professions succeeded; all those sets were sold off. While earning a little, he suffered greatly. Then he came to Jodhpur Khāṭū, where he fell ill and lay on the charpoy. What was the reason for all this suffering? So, Bābā, please forgive me, my intellect has become clouded; I have lost everything. Then Mahāprabhujī said, "Child, what happened to you? Well, I am asking, where did your question go? You lost all your possessions. You don’t say anything, Bābā. You do give, but I have not given you anything." "Yes, don’t bring confusion into the mind, don’t let the intellect wander." Then Bābā said, "Please have mercy now." He said it is fine to serve and receive bread, but what he truly said is that the vision is wealth. The words of a saint, the speech of a saint, can make a king from a pauper, can make a pauper from a king, can cause the impossible to happen, and can also prevent what is destined. Paramātmā, Gurudev, is everything—giving and creating. So, Mahāprabhujī’s supreme grace is all that you see; it is his supreme grace. No ordinary person can do this. And we can do nothing; the day you think that we did it, or I think that I did it, on that very day everything is divided and fragmented. Only the one who acts truly, who dwells in the word of the Bānī throughout the entire world, speaks thus. This is what my Sadgurū spoke within me: I have no science, no śāstra, no philosophy. I have not completed the study of all these, but it may be my ego speaking within me. However, by the supreme grace of Mahāprabhujī, Bābājī imparted the knowledge of English to me in a single night, and I have delivered lectures in such places as Marwā Dīmō. Where there are people who have three or four medical degrees and they sit as scientists, they also ask questions, and I say something that makes them so happy that they leave. I don’t even know what I said. I simply say that deep inside, they themselves say, "Mahāprabhujī, with eyes closed." Devapur Jī Mahāprabhujī Gurujī prays that the humble servant Dīnā Nāth, bound by your thread, O Āth Bāvajī, may you yourself speak so that no discord arises. So when it came to laying the school foundation stone in those villages, people said, "Pardān sāhab, you should do it." Since no one else was a prominent figure, Pardān sāhab said, "You could say that today the foundation stone is being laid by me, and it is a matter of great joy. And I will try, as much as possible, to establish sīlānyāsa in all the surrounding villages and places. I am placing the stone for the sīlānyāsa. Without the stone, the foundation cannot be laid." They will say, "Rām Rām," and today, by Bhagavān’s grace, I have taken the path of satyānāsa. The sīlānyāsa must be completed on the path of satyānāsa, which Bhagavān has ordained. So, the entire area is filled with the banner of satyānāsa, prominently displayed everywhere. I say this because Mahāprabhujī’s presence is such that no disturbance arises; people say, "Ghaṇāo Maharāj, please sit down," yet Mahāprabhujī’s grace and protective shadow are so abundant. People keep watching, Velbs Marāj, if someone else speaks, it is only by the grace of the guru; without guru kr̥pā, nothing happens. But the disciple should never be without guru bhakti as long as there is breath in this body. To be without the guru is no less than hell; do not speak such things, no matter how many millions... the guru’s... Nowadays, people just put on saffron robes and call themselves bābās, but Gurujī has always reprimanded this. And to think that one can become a self-realized soul like that—such a soul is not made so easily. You must have seen or heard that Gurujī, until the very end and even now, writes on the vehicle "Agrīpanāyat Bhagavān kī Jay," then says, "Speak the victory of Bhagavān." Open the wound, and the mālā kept moving through the fingers. I have also seen this with Pratyakṣa Mātājī; even when Mātājī had completely left the body in a state of absolute silence, the mālā was still moving. This means there was no prāṇa left in the body, yet somehow the fingers were moving. So, what is this, O Āṭarī, O Rudra? If this is your rosary, and that finger is moving like this, this is called bhakti, this is called the name of Bhagavān, this is called devotion. No matter how much you become accomplished, no matter how much you become accomplished, a guru is always a guru. Even if you become the president, you will still remain the child of your mother and father, your own mother and father. Whether you are a charioteer or the president, you are still a child of the Mother. So take such a resolve that my love increases day by day. If you listen to the compassionate light of the Lord, please bless us and grant this satsaṅg. O gracious ones, listen to this sacred light of compassion, listen to the light of the Lord, the compassionate light that dispels darkness. Without the light of Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, there is no deity, no divine being. Serve for many lifetimes with devotion; as much as possible, perform good deeds and serve sincerely. Serve the distressed and live life with truth; keep singing the praises of Bhagavān. Our true wealth is indeed in bhajan. Yesterday, at our place, Anmān Singhjī was there, wasn’t he? It was the blessing of Sagrāmadājī Mahārāj. Bābājī also used to say, all this is the glory of my mālā. People say, Mahārāj, we are... And Gurujī used to say that I am turning the rosary, I am the ear of listening. So Gurujī was turning the rosary for all of us. Whatever is visible, whatever there is, it is the reflection of Gurujī’s rosary. And today, I have inherited the suffering, not earned the suffering, just like parents... One should not speak, one should not speak to Gurudev, and whoever has helped even a penny in this vast life, one should not speak to them either. It is said that salt should not be disturbed. Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya Oṃ Namaḥ Śivāya... Bring the soul, bring it, bring it; take that blessing. Narendra never said anything for selfish reasons; he always remained focused on the principle. From his mouth, it never came out otherwise; it simply never did. He always learned just one letter from Bābājī: dadda. Dadda means to give; he never learned lalla, which means to take. Our Dhanjī brothers Bhīmānā and Dhanjī brother Bābājī’s disciple Akhyarājī Purohit Dhanyarivāle, having been with them, practiced devotion to Bābājī. Bābājī’s disciples are my guru brothers, and I have known them for 40 years, since I was young, about 45 years ago. Back then, they used to prepare meals for two or three wealthy men in the afternoons. But it was due to Bābājī’s grace that nothing was lost. Hundreds of people work under him; there is a huge catering service. Groups of ten, twenty, fifty thousand, even fifty thousand people go out, including Jains and others. They call them, their trucks go, their entire party goes, and their own... Danjī Bāī has also sent devotees here every year during the Kumbh Melā; even now, a group of about 20-30 people has come. These are all of very sāttvic nature, devotees, completely renunciant. If someone is troubled or needs help, they never turn away from them; they always say, "Alright, give it," so generous is their heart. And... Their wife is Lakṣmī; she is even more generous-hearted than him. They have been united, and may their union remain eternal. May Bhagavān grant them abundant strength and devotion, keep them healthy, and bless them with a long life. So, where has Danjī Bhāī gone? Come, brother, bring Danjī, bring the shawl for Danjī. And by the way, he is also from our Narendra Bhāī’s household; she too is Mā Lakṣmī. When many come, the mother-in-law applies tilak, touches their feet, brings them inside after performing pūjā, and says that this house is now yours. So, shouldn’t we offer pure devotion to Bhagavān? It is already given within. Take it—Oh Oṃ Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, it is special. Adorn with a mālā. Thus, the entire culture of the home, the conduct of the home—it is a practice; everything gradually comes together for them. Now, even the ruler was given by their ruler, so they took great care of it. Now, it doesn’t come easily; if it gets damaged or broken, then the ruler’s shop is closed. So, if someone gives a little, they say, "Go home." So, I said, "I won’t go anywhere." They want to stay separate, so let them take a separate house and live apart. These days, the brother who doesn’t understand anything has gone away. The mother-in-law and father-in-law have made the boy completely strict, but he doesn’t listen. No, if you put him in the police station, what has the time changed? Otherwise, it is for the daughter-in-law. What we have is our family of in-laws, two families actually, but that culture is deteriorating. People today lack proper sanskāra. It is through satsaṅg and granthas that one receives sanskāra, and from sanskāra, culture is preserved. Similarly, the devotees of Bābājī from Jodhpur, our Pṛtavī Singh Jī Pariyār and the entire family, have been engaged in service for the entire twelve months. So here as well, to manage that work, our Partīsiṅgh jī—look, it has been forty-eight hours, standing on their feet, who knows when they have slept. So Partīsiṅgh jī was also given a sol oḍā and their blessings from Mahāprabhujī were received, and it went on and on... And secondly, whoever comes to this āśrama, whoever has come, whoever is going, or whoever wants to come and calls on the telephone, they all ask what to do and what not to do, constantly troubling Lakṣmaṇ Singh jī. People keep bothering our Lakṣmaṇ jī again and again, and in this state, even take Lakṣmaṇ jī’s rest away. As it is our duty to maintain all this, heartfelt congratulations to all of you. Our Colonel Sāhab also comes from Udaipur and always says, "Babut Rām jī lagāo." Dhanjī Bhāī says, "Babut Rām jī kaṭāe hai." Oh, this Babut Rām kaṭī—he is a lawyer, the one who cuts cases. That Babut is not the Babut of Gurudev’s blessings. Part 2: A Gathering of Grace and Service Chandroḍā, Raṅg Raṅgī, and blessings, blessings from Bābā Rām Jī. Blessings to your entire company, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ, Mahāprabhu Dīp Nārāyaṇ’s attendants—to all of them, many blessings. And to all the sevaks—now, whose names shall I take? All of you were engaged in seva; blessings to you. May the arrangements continue, and may such work and deeds go on. The lightning quickly runs and lifts the full load; the second lightning will come and lift the thin load. So, if we all work together for just half an hour, the service gets done. Many, many thanks, and may Bhagavān bless you with abundant strength and devotion. May your journey be auspicious, and may Mahāprabhujī’s supreme grace be upon all. We will celebrate Gurudev’s sacred day here, Bābājī. They will celebrate the anniversary or the festival, and then they say to you in English, "Hari Om and go home." After that, in English, they say, "Hari Om and go home." So, to this person, I express my gratitude to all of you. Narendra Chaudhri, Narendra Chaudhri... Narendra, this is not an āśrama. Āśrama is āśrama... Oṁ, victory to Satguru Svāmī Mādhvānandajī Bhagavān, Kapila Bhagavān, Dattātreya Bhagavān, Ādi Guru Bhagavān Śaṅkarācārya, all the great sages and mahātmas, Satguru Dev, the eternal truth of the sanātana dharma. Oṁ, victory to the Guru. We bow to you, revered Gurudev, the embodiment of compassion and bliss, beyond the illusions of māyā, the form of Hari transcending the body and mind, eternal and formless, beyond time. Salutations to the all-pervading, transcendental Lord, O Deva, dispel obstacles, bestow auspiciousness, hold the staff of grace, and be the refuge of Parameśvarī and Nandā. Salutations to the radiant shelter, victory to the merciful Lord Śiva, whose compassionate hands are the source of auspiciousness, eternal wisdom, and detachment. Oṁ. I bow to Gurudev, the refuge, the divine lord who grants bliss, the master of yoga, the radiant one who dispels darkness and awakens the sun of knowledge. I offer countless salutations to Gurudev. With every blink, I pray to the Lord, and all hearts are filled with joy. The disciple surrenders to the supreme Mahāprabhujī, Gurudev. The sages and saints of the three worlds have known that the true Satguru is none other than the divine giver of the true path. Who in this world is greater than the king or emperor? Who is greater than Rāma or Kṛṣṇa? Even they have a guru. The three worlds bow to the feet of the Satguru. The Satguru of the Satguru is the Pūrṇa Brahma, who transcends the demonic, human, and animal realms. This body is like a fragile vine; the guru is the mine of immortality. Salutations to the Satguru, the true guru. The idol is like the moon, and the servant is like the eight directions; the most exalted is the lotus feet of the Guru. Oṁ, the Guru is Brahmā, the Guru is Viṣṇu, the Guru is Devo, the Guru is the direct Paramātmā. Therefore, the root of meditation is the Guru’s form, the root of worship is the Guru’s feet, the root is the Guru’s word, and the ultimate is the Guru’s grace. Oṁ dīpa jotī para brahmā dīpaṃ sarve mohanaṃ dīpanaṃ sajate sarvaṃ sandhyā dīpaṃ sarva satyaṃ. Oṁ namo prabhu dīpa vināsī āpī brahmā āpī viṣṇu āpo ke lāske vāsī, āpo nāradi, āpo sāradi, āpo śeṣaparāsī, āpo dyānī, āpo gyānī, āpo yoṣṭarakāsī, āpo ho dīva sabdīvī, āpo śūra prakāśī, āpo brahma nirvāṇī, āpo śiram ke gyātā, āpo vedoṁ ke gyātā, āpo bhakta ruvāsī, āpo satnām ka bole Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān kī Śrī Śrī Dev Purīṣya Mahā Dev Hindu Dharma Sambhrāṭ Satva Guru Svāmījī Mādhvānandajī Bhagavān kī Śaṅkarācārya Bhagavān kī Kapila Bhagavān. All sages and ascetics are embodiments of the true eternal dharma. Svāmījī Maheśvarānandajī, Gurujī, Śrī Devpurījī, Śrī Mādhava Kṛṣṇa, Avatārapurī, Bhagavān, Viśvagurujī, Śrī Mādhava Kṛṣṇa, Avatārapurī, Bhagavān, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ, Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ... Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ. All householders sit in the front; all saints who are householders will sit in the front. Those who have not undergone the rites of renunciation or tonsure will not sit above. The āśrama-dwelling householders, other saints, all sit in the front. Now, Hanumān Jī, who was there—even Hanumān Jī once experienced pride. When Hanumān Jī returned victorious from Śrī Laṅkā and reached Ayodhyā, and the Rāma assembly was held, then Bhagavān Rāma himself... They were seated in the army room, and Hanumān-jī was sitting under the large jād tree in the garden, chanting the mālā. Chanting the mālā, chanting the mālā... At that time, I flew and brought Sanjīvanī, and not only that, when Bhagavān Rāma was bitten by the nāgapāśa, without any delay, the entire brahmāṇḍa was in turmoil. If Garuḍa Jī had not come from somewhere to take him away, then Brahmā would have been destroyed. And in the mind of his Gurudev, such discrimination also arose, wondering who Viṣṇu Bhagavān truly is. Hanumān Jī pondered in his mind that if he had not been there, then Rām Jī’s victory in Laṅkā would not have been possible. Thus, Hanumān Jī kept reflecting in his mind. Do not rely on mere assumptions; many tasks do not get accomplished through them. I tell you, many of your tasks get stuck because of assumptions. Our assumptions, dear son, never fully blossom or come to fruition. But there is one last task that assumptions can indeed accomplish for you—then you will be free. Tell me, O Prabhu, the servant is ready, present, so tell me, without your estimation, no one can go there. So, O Lord, please tell me what to do. I give this one ring—go and give it to Lomaśa Ṛṣi, saying that Rāma has sent it for you. But Lomaśa Ṛṣi, what is this money? What money has come? It is just a piece of grass, a tuft of grass. The whole world is burning for days. The whole world is like a mother’s clay, mixing and blending; the world is restless, this is how the days pass. If there is restlessness, then why create barriers? If one does not lie down, then why build walls? Lying down is good; it shows such renunciation. Yes, only one who is truly renounced can be like this. Hanumān jī undertook a very difficult journey, but he reached his destination. If it is given to you, sent for you, then the goosebumps arise—this is like a reservoir of water, into which you pour, but the soul does not see it, does not pour into it. The guess will not come; this anger, after such a difficult journey, I am stuck. The oxygen, that goosebumps, the inner essence, has been mixed; the guess is that it will spread like a root, like a finger spreading apart. So, Hanumān, in the cavity of the ear, a green ring emerged, straight and curved. Then, the Lord said, "This is indeed a sign." Yes, Hanumān, Viṣṇu has incarnated on this earth many times, and whenever Viṣṇu takes an avatāra, he has to pay a tax. As a form of tax, a ring is sent. Because the saints attain success through my shelter. You think casually that I am just an instrument, that someone else is the doer. You are caught in ego, living in pride, thinking that without me, there would be no instrument. If there were no instrument, how would I have found Sītā, Sītā? Who has taken you, who has killed Rāvaṇa like that? Oh, do not be so proud of your assumptions. Tell Rāma that your text has been found, now go, your work in this world is complete. When there was ego, everything was there, but there was only one such flaw, from that flaw Rāvaṇa’s truth was destroyed—that was ego. Ego itself is so terrible. The enemy resides in the heart of the sādhaka, in the heart of the bhakta, in the heart of the human being, and it is the ego that leads to downfall. So, you have clearly seen the enemy. When ego arises, it withers the flower. Therefore, Hanumān Jī, Hanumān Singh Jī’s bhajan should also be honored by offering a pure shawl to him. Next time, sing even better, bring the brother’s chādar, and always continue to give joy to such devotees. Blessings, blessings. The āśrama is yours, so now what? The hungry Gopāla is at the doorstep, the garland of thorns is hanging—just remain steadfast in the bhajans and nāzams. So this is the time for the buses, the time for everyone, and oh Oṁ sons, now our Colonel Sāhib will say a few words, after which all of you will recite the prasāda. The prasāda is ready, and those saints, the stationed saints, they had it yesterday, the chādar; for those who did not, Bhagavān’s victory be upon you. Whatever tasks were performed, their praise was sung, they were honored, and the manner in which blessings were bestowed—you all have witnessed this. But how did this happen, who made it happen? On behalf of all the revered great souls present, I bow to my Svāmījī, the Supreme Lord, who, through day and night effort and inspiring everyone, has... He gave everyone the opportunity for devotion, blessed all, and thought for the welfare of all. Bābā Jī, at your feet, we offer our respects, and it is our prayer, Mahārāj, lifetime after lifetime. Now you must have seen Svāmījī, he has praised all the people who have worked here, he has honoured them. My only submission is just to tell you that all this is because of him, his hard work, his way of giving the ideas or the thoughts to you all... In His Lotus Feet, bless us in this very way. Thank you. Say, "Jai Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān" for the dining hall. Please, all volunteers, kindly proceed to the dining hall now. All those who wish to serve in the dining hall, please come forward. I will be there. Thank you.
