Gurupurnima celebration 2011/ Part 2

True knowledge and cultural saṃskāras liberate the human being.

By birth, all are śūdras. Caste and character are formed by one's actions and impressions. Only one who attains Brahmavidyā is a true Brāhmaṇa. The Vedas describe four types of births for beings entering this world. All beings are the Ātman, which is Brahman. Two types of knowers exist: those who gain knowledge from scripture and those who realize it directly. The darkness of ignorance has fragmented humanity through caste. Sixteen saṃskāras are prescribed to transform a human from a state of bondage to liberation, freeing one from debts to mothers, fathers, deities, teachers, and sages. These impressions lead one from darkness to light. Culture is formed from refined qualities and saṃskāras; it protects society and the nation. One must instill right saṃskāras in children. Human life is given to attain knowledge of the Ātman and Paramātmā.

"By birth, everyone is a śūdra. Only the one who has attained Brahmavidyā is worthy of being called a Brāhmaṇa."

"The one who leads us away from the darkness of ignorance towards the light of knowledge is the true guru."

Filming locations: Pāli district, Rajasthan, India.

Part 1: A Discourse on Saṃskāras, Knowledge, and Culture Sometimes you made me laugh, sometimes you made me cry. I have come to your refuge; no illusion has ever overwhelmed me. Oṃ Sadguru Jī, I bow to you. Please accept my salutations. Hear my one request: reside within me. You are Yogeshvara, you are Parmeshvara, you are Sarveshvara, my Īśvara. Please bestow such grace upon me. Hear my one request. May the desire for the womb be fulfilled once again, Gurudev. Please bestow your grace. Let our actions be selfless, our feelings detached. Oṃ Sadgurujī, I bow to you; please accept this and hear my humble request. Chant the name of Dīpa Narāyaṇa Bhagavān, of the eternal dharma, of Mādhava Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān, of Depurīśa Mahādeva, of the distinct Pīṭha paramparā. The Viśva Guru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara has performed the pūraka, and he has initiated the janma saṃskāra. They are receiving the blessings of Viśva Guru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Paramahaṁsa Svāmījī Mahārāja. Chant the name of Dīpa Narāyaṇa Bhagavān. This is my humble request. All devotees are present here, and everyone is truly united in this bond on this stage. The president of Pāli district, Mr. Siddhi Deval, is also present, along with many great saints and spiritual souls. Everyone is seated here, including our Mamaleshwar Krishnanan Puri Jī Mahārāj, who is seated alongside Bābājī. Oh, come quickly, don’t delay with the prāṇāma. Just come quickly. There are only a few minutes left; come quickly. Don’t come in doubles. Oh, that wire, come out from there. All friends standing here and there, I have two suggestions for you: either come into the paṇḍāl and listen to the satsaṅg, or go to the dining hall and have your meal. Is there a third suggestion? No one who has eaten should come and sit in the pavilion. Otherwise, the whole day will just be spent like this; the discourse will not happen. If you are here, then at least offer some notes. Go ahead. But why should I read the Āryaṃ Veda? What will I gain? I say, in Sanātana Dharma, with us, we have our ancient revered Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Svāmī Kṛṣṇa Nanjī Mahārāj present. So, Kṛṣṇa Nanjī Mahārāj is immersed in the culture and values of Bhārat, especially in the upanayana... We will shed light on the saṃskāra that is present, all of you. Guru Brahmā, Guru Viṣṇu, Guru Deva Maheśvara, Guru Satthāt Parabrahma Tatumai śrī gurave namaḥ. Bhakti, bhakti, bhagavanti guru caturi nāmu bapveka tini kī padi bandana karūṁ nāsi vigne aneka eka girāya ratha jalavī ciṣama kahiyata bhinna ki bhinna bandahu Sītārām jī pada jinahī param priya khinna jai jai... Rādhā Rāman, victory to the youthful pair; victory to the Lord who steals the hearts of the gopīs. Victory to the mother who steals the bell, Rādhe, my mother, you are my father, my Ghanashyam. At the feet of these two, I repeatedly offer my salutations. In the morning remembrance, Śrī Svāmījī Mahārāj, devotees who have come from distant places, mothers and sisters. The humble devotee is both guru, father, and mother. A person who does not perform Sandhyā Bandhana continuously for three days, whether he is a Brāhmaṇa, Kṣatriya, or Vaiśya, becomes equivalent to a Śūdra. And Sandhyā Bandhana is not complete without wearing the Yajñopavīta. Therefore, since the Brāhmaṇa and Kṣatriya Parasoṭṭama wore the Yajñopavīta, we too must wear the Yajñopavīta. If you firmly hold onto Yajñopavīta, no fear will ever come near you. Many, many congratulations to all of you... Turn up the volume. When we have come for Guru Pūrṇimā, to listen to jñāna, and are seeing so many countries, I wonder why we don’t at least learn it in Marwāṛī. Where am I wrong? We should set an example, so that the confusion here and there is resolved in the next birth. That is the right thing to do. No, and the one who sleeps becomes a python, and the one who does evil becomes a golden mace, so brothers, you all are the twenty-four, therefore all of you shine forth. I will speak only a little, but... Those whose love reigns, whose faith is unwavering—revered Gurudev Svāmījī Mādhvanan Jī Mārāj—there was a deep connection to the āśrama, and it still remains. Deval Sāhab is a very clear thinker and such a noble soul, whether it concerns the suffering of an individual, a community, or a city... Whether or not one is a passenger, having held such a high position, Aai is what one would call a great apsarā, and now engaged in social service. She will also share her thoughts; she has had many experiences in life. From refined qualities to refined qualities, culture is formed. Some were speaking about saṃskāras. See, everyone speaks according to their own experience, but there is something about which Mahārāj said, I do not agree. Therefore, Mahārāj never gets upset, and even if He did, it would be with us sādhus. It happens that striking water with a stick is just as much as our Deval Sāhab sitting here can also pass judgment. The scriptures say that by birth, everyone is a śūdra. By birth, everyone is a śūdra, whether you consider a Brahmin’s household or a farmer’s household. Number one, caste is formed by actions, and character is formed by impressions. Only the one who has attained Brahmavidyā is worthy of being called a Brāhmaṇa. Others are not worthy of being called Brāhmaṇa—like a bird without feathers, an elephant without tusks, a flag without a staff, or a prostitute’s son without a father. Similarly, a being without the name of Hari is incomplete. By doing, doing, in the end, what is it? Just as a scholar without the Vedas is incomplete, similarly, a being without the Hari nāma is like a lamp that is not lit. There is no night without the moon, no milk without the cow, no leaves without the tree, and no earth without the ground. In this way, Guru Nānak Sāhab has said many things. The pundits, but they never said what is written inside the Vedas, whether there is a Veda in their house or not. Why should I ask such a question? Why should I ever ask if there is a Veda in the house? Oh, the pundits of Bāvajī, who are they because of the Vedas? Grandfather is also unwell, who is the Veda expert? When called, the Veda came into the house. These Vedas are of four types: Rājayuj, Uddvij, Svedaj, Aṇḍāyaj, and Jarāyus. These four types of births, that is, beings, enter this physical world on this earth through these four types of births. So this means that udvija refers to the sprout—whether it is the sprout of a seed, grass, or a tree. Whatever sprout emerges, or when the bud of a tree blossoms, that bud is also included in the same udvija. The Vedas say that even within the vanaspati (plants) there is life, and... They are also forms of Īśvara. After that, there are sweat glands, which we call kitānū, or bacteria, which arise from sweat and so on. These kitānūs are also a kind of organism. Infection is said to be a type of khān, which causes disease afterward. And the third is eggs, which are laid by animals and birds, whether... Fish also lay eggs, pigeons have eggs, sparrows have eggs too. So, the offspring that come from eggs, and the jārayuja are those born from the mother’s breast milk and the father’s seed, and are born in a complete physical form. Among them come all animals, whether it is a dog, a buffalo, a goat, or a human. After that, it is said in Vedānta that all beings are My Ātman, that is Brahman. One who knows Brahman, who has realized Ātman and Paramātmā, what knowledge has he attained? Dear ones, two types of jñānīs are described: one is lakṣārtī and the other is vācārtī. The vācārtī are those who... The one who gains knowledge by reading scriptures and listening to satsaṅg and stories is called a vācārthī. The vācārthī soul attains the knowledge of Paramātmā: there is only one Brahman, there is no second Brahman... there is only one Brahman, no second... with the village, with the village... The brother went to the village and directly, he directly attained the knowledge of the ātman. It is here that the darkness of ignorance has settled in present-day India, dividing humanity into fragments, splitting them into castes and within religion itself. There is only one religion, and that is it. At birth, one is also in the form of a śūdra, but when knowledge is attained, one becomes of the nature of Brahman. So, O noble Gurudev, the sages and munis of India have prescribed saṃskāras to transform a human from a dānava to a deva, to make the human into Īśvara. In our Vedānta, sixteen saṃskāras are described for the liberation of this jīva, for the complete knowledge of this jīva, and for the freedom of this jīva from the pitṛs. If there is bondage, then there are four or five debts: mātṛ debt, pitṛ debt, deva debt, ācārya debt, and ṛṣi debt. Until one is free from these four or five debts of bondage... Just as a traffic jam or a motor accident causes a vehicle to get stuck on the bypass, similarly, through practical experience, direct perception, and through saṃskāras, meditation, and yoga, the ṛṣis and munis discovered, by journeying through the subtle world, where the jīva goes, and what happens to the jīva. What impressions go into me, then whatever our theory is, those who have altered our scriptures for money, but the very old scriptures that are found, the one who reads them does not—what should we do? The reader says, "What is the matter, Bābā Jī? There is a problem with the attack; give us the problem and clarify it." Actually, these religious people changed our scriptures by giving money to those whom we call brāhmaṇa and paṇḍit, enticing them with greed and money, and they wrote them incorrectly. In the end, what did those people think? There was a Max Müller from Germany; he was a very good and great lecturer. Our Deval Sāhab will agree with me; he was a great lecturer and a philosopher. The Englishman told them that we will give this much money, and that document was just found; it was lying in the treasury. So he told them that you are of the Vedas. First, they had practiced Sanskrit, so they were very well-versed in Sanskrit, and regarding our Sāmaveda and Atharvaveda through Max Müller... Later on, because to study Sanskrit and our Bhāratīya scriptures, not only the essence but also the exact meaning is required. If the exact meaning and the essence become knowledge, then the translation of our scriptures can be done; otherwise, you cannot do it. Bhajanārot ha gar means... oh, it is very difficult to say, no, it cannot be said like that. If there are Hindus and Bhagavān, then Bhagavān is called so; if there are Hindus and Muslims and they are different, then they are called so. It is like a man eating bread—while eating bread, if you bring a little salt, then the salt will be taken; if you bring one or two grains, then the salt will be accepted. Bring it clean, not in a big size, not in a vehicle—that is why. We have the Śabdārtha, Bhāvārtha, and Jñānārtha texts, so what happened to Max Müller was that he encountered such a problem that when Max Müller started reading the Upaniṣads, his intellect changed while reading them. Why did this happen? Max Müller was German, and in India, the British ruled, so Max Müller... He writes that he will never do anything that goes against the truth. Even today, it is read, but our government did not want to expose it. Why would they expose it? If they did, it would reveal the truth. It is said that knowledge awakens, but if a community starts fighting, then say, no one can destroy the truth. Whether there will be a true devotee or not, the truth remains. Neither the sun nor the moon—though the sun and moon may disappear, the truth will never vanish. Neither any dharma, nor any culture, nor any politics can change the truths. That is why it is said in English that evidence will never die. So, O noble ones, humanity will reach its destined goal. What destination is there for him? To achieve self-realization, one must strive; laziness will not help. They are not lazy; they do not just build houses, have children, eat, drink, and indulge in pleasures like animals. O most wise human, if this is all you do, then what is the purpose? Human life has been given precisely to attain the knowledge of Ātman and Paramātmā. As you associate, so you become colored accordingly. Oh, Vālmīki was from a wild tribe, what we call tribes or ādivāsī families. But when he received the knowledge of Bhagavān Rāma, today Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa is considered the supreme Rāmāyaṇa, and it is written in Sanskrit language. However, that Rāma... And as for Tulsī Dāsa Jī, he himself did not even know whose he was, but it is thought that he might have been a Brahmin, and it is written in the common language, in the regional dialect, which everyone understands. So, dear ones, the human race has been divided, the human race has been scattered. We ourselves have introduced caste distinctions into it. Why not a Śūdra? There is no one who is truly a Śūdra; some say he is the Śūdra himself. When Aṣṭavakra reached King Janaka’s court, everyone laughed upon seeing Aṣṭavakra’s condition. Aṣṭavakra stood up and laughed heartily before King Janaka as well. Then Janaka asked, “Why? What is the matter? Why are you laughing?” If you remain, Janaka says that a great soul is a knower, one who remains fearless and does not fear. He says, O King, you should know that truth. Sitting with respect, the three—king, brāhmaṇa, and all—are bound by anger. Holding the mother’s hand, they do this and that, pushing and pulling. There are eight types of bodies, called aṣṭa vakra. What was he in that? The king said, "What is this hunchback? Hey brother, be careful, how can all these brāhmaṇas do this? Have they taken my skin and hunchbacked body and started laughing?" They do not know what knowledge I possess within. Therefore, it is said: ask the sādhus about the caste, and do inquire. What use is it to keep a sword sheathed? We are speaking of the knowledge, dear friends. The third eye of the self has opened; now it is time to acquire knowledge, to attain wisdom. Among the sixteen saṃskāras, this one saṃskāra is essential for every individual, whether they are Hindu, Muslim, Sai follower, atheist, or anyone else. These saṃskāras belong to the women of India, the women of Bhārat, and we... We thank those who are seated here, who are still protecting our culture today. And look, they have abandoned the potyā, they have abandoned the dhotyā, those very things—if you want to protect the culture, dear ones, only then can there be peace in the world. Because when I stand on the platform of the United Nations... Wherever I sit and speak about śavadharma and bahudharma culture, there are many kinds of neglect shown, saying that if you leave behind discrimination in Hindustan, if you are a brāhmaṇa, then you have brahma jñāna; if not, then what has happened? Oh, Bāvajī, Gurujī says, Bāvajī is a brāhmaṇa, so he is like Bhagavān Brahmā. The liberated one was born, and Bāvajī says that a birthless one was born—may you attain knowledge, for in the end, the body will also depart. Kabītā Jī said, "Man, your skin and desires are of no use; they are perishable. Oh, the skin of an animal is of no use, for it becomes a drum. Hair burns, grass burns, and wood burns—so it will all burn away, leaving nothing behind." Only the final truth is the supreme reality. Whatever is to happen will happen; whatever is to be done will be done. But ultimately, nothing remains in our hands, nothing goes with us, not even the body accompanies us. Therefore, dear ones, you must definitely instill the right saṃskāras in your children. And you should know that our culture is the mother of all cultures in the entire world. But the culture that has grown out of our culture has become distorted; other ideas have entered within Sanskrit. For example, nowadays everyone says "pāpā, pāpā." That refers to the one who does not even get a place in hell—that is called pāpā ātman. Your child calls you pāpā right in front of you. He was cursing, saying, "Hey father, what kind of father are you?" Then someone said, "Your mother has passed away, so you yourself are both mother and father." How wonderful is our culture: tvameva mātā cha pitā tvameva — you yourself are the mother and the father; tvameva bandho cha sakha tvameva — you yourself are the relative and the friend; vidyā dravinam tvameva — you yourself are knowledge and wealth; tvameva tvameva sarvam amaneva deva — you yourself are everything, indeed you are the very deity. Otherwise, some get stuck in "You are my date" and "My mom, oh my friend, you are all for me." No one should cry or suffer; that is why the talk is about knowledge. The mind should be filled with knowledge, dear brother, the mind should be filled with truth. Satsaṅg is today on the day of Guru Pūrṇimā. Make such impressions and take a resolve that my children will only call me Pitā Śrī and Mātā Śrī. If you want to uphold the culture of Bharat Hindustān and repay the debt to Hindustān, then you cannot just hold onto two words, my friends. If you do not, then it is all lost. Oh, Oṃ Tat Sat—where will our country go? Where will our culture go? The coming generations will curse you, curse you for not respecting the elders and the wise ones. Friends, I will not speak much now. The one who is present, no one should speak without understanding the words. Deval Sāhab, nowadays he is an office man, hanging about, doing the work but not saying no. Madam Panthāne is there, Madam has some authority. Only he can become the master of the leaf, and to his wife, he says Madam. Now, if anyone comes and hangs around me, madam, if someone hangs around, your leaf is there, and why does the flower wither sitting on the chair? Today, madam gave me your left side; it is your duty to give it to madam. Brother, madam is my wealth, and I am your sister. Gurujī Kuttia Gurujī Kuttia... When foreign people hear this, they laugh, thinking that these people do not even know what they are saying. But, dear ones, culture is formed from our desires and saṃskāras, and from culture comes the protection of the nation. Culture safeguards society, and through culture, our children improve. Those parents who cannot give their children culture or our saṃskāras—so they are committing great injustice towards their children, towards society, and towards the country. Gurupūrṇimā is a great festival—gū means darkness, rū means light. The one who leads us away from the darkness of ignorance towards the light of knowledge is the true guru. Therefore, you must emerge from this darkness, that... Only two or three communities have the right to the impressions of Upanayana; in the next life, progress will increase. Why curse, Nātha? Why curse? You who are Nātha, if you do not curse those eighteen births, then I will curse. Whoever wants to progress, do not cause disturbance. Śrīman Nārāyaṇ, Nārāyaṇ. Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān’s two words I will say in English for the foreigners. So, look brother, I spoke in Marwāṛī that the flame has gone out, what else? See how much patience they have, sitting completely silent, even though they do not know Marwāṛī or Hindi language at all, and these are today the brahmacārīs of our āśrama’s gurukula. Those who have been given the initiation of Jānev or Upanayana, their Brahmacārī life is not successful until they seek Vīkṣā. For them, and for you as well, the offering vessel is the same; it is not about Dakṣiṇā or a gift, that vessel itself is to be understood as Vīkṣā. So, whatever impressions our children have received here, the fees or money earned for some work will be counted and presented before you, showing how much money has been collected for our students. They will receive the blessings of the brahmacārī, as long as we are in the Vedic era. Part 2: A Guru Pūrṇimā Gathering: Discourses, Announcements, and Initiation When no brahmacārī comes to the home for alms, the household becomes sorrowful, wondering what has happened today that no sādhu or brahmacārī has come in front of the house. Here, many subscribe for their own... Pūrṇimā, Guru Pūrṇimā... For these days, Vyāsa Pūrṇimā and Veda Vyāsa are observed. For Vyāsa Pūrṇimā and Veda Vyāsa, the name Śukadeva Muni is also significant. After them, after our Śāradānās, after the Śāradānās... the Gurudev of the Śāradānās, Satgurudev... So, dear brothers and sisters, this evening we will have more webcasts in German, Czech, Ex-Yugoslavian, French, English, and Hindi languages. So many languages will be proclaimed in different parts of the world accordingly. Please stay with us, check your internet from time to time, and be ready for the webcasting. Now, I wish you all the best. It is time for lunch, so we will come to you again, and you will enjoy the bhajans. There will now be some lectures from various dignitaries, so please enjoy and maintain peace. Look at Dīpa Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, see how the bag is making a sound. Your... your sit down. Discipline is a Disciple. The meaning of Disciple is Discipline. No Disciple is not a Disciple. And the meaning of Professor is Proper Sir. So the school’s professors are kept there, and the principal is the one who has the principalship. So the principal sir said it is the proper sir, then what will Vidyār do? Look, I was speaking for not even ten minutes, then I will make it hang. There are only seven saints sitting; the eighty-nine have swallowed the eighty-nine. Oh, the upper ones and the lower ones, Gurumārāj keeps them. So if there is permission from everyone, then they send our brahmacārīs for food. Go, son, go to the dining hall and get the bread from over there. Now, I hand over the microphone to our beloved Guru, Bāī Deval Sāhab. Please be seated here, give him the microphone, this one, give him this one, offer him water. Mahārāj speaks loudly, speaks correctly. Glory to Lord Dīpa Nārāyaṇa, at the feet of the most revered Gurudevīśvara and Mādhavānanda Jī. Heartfelt salutations to the most revered Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara Mahīśvara Jī Mahārāj. On behalf of this āśrama, a heartfelt welcome to all of you. It is a blessing that once a year, the festival of Guru Pūrṇimā arrives, and on that day, we receive wisdom from the Guru, which we absorb throughout the year and strive to embody in our lives. Let us assimilate what is taught about the philosophy of life: a human being is born, and all are equal at birth. According to the actions one performs, one’s caste and impressions are formed. This system of discrimination, known as the varṇa system, and the resolution to sit according to one’s rank has been accepted by all societies. So Hindustān is progressing today; Hindustān has become a power in the world, and if people from Europe come to learn the Indian culture, we are proud that Swāmījī has fulfilled this great resolve and has set an example of being a true disciple of the Guru. Today, the āśrama you see here was once desolate and abandoned, but now it has become a prominent religious site not only of Pālī district but of Rajasthan as well. Beings of every dharma come here with the effort to learn the saṃskāras of yoga from this place and to develop a connection with society through it. One who is indebted to his ancestors, caste, and dharma, to repay these debts, it is necessary to take good saṃskāras from them. On this occasion of Guru Pūrṇimā, it is the duty of all of you to speak about the welfare of your community and society; only then will the welfare of the nation be ensured. Once again, my heartfelt gratitude to all of you. Thank you. Jai Hind, Jai Bhārat, Jai Dīpa Nārāyaṇa Mahārāj. Say Śrī Alakhpurī Mahārāj’s name, say Śrī Devpurī Bhagavān’s name, say Śrī Devpurī Bhagavān’s name, say Śrī Mādhavānanda Jī Bhagavān’s name, say Śrī Mādhavānanda Jī Bhagavān’s name, say Śrī Mādhavānanda Jī Bhagavān’s name. Millions and millions of salutations at the feet of the most revered Mahāsura Nānjī Mahārāj. On the stage, the learned sādhu saints seated at his feet receive countless salutations. I bow to my most respected Jyotiṣa Ācārya Paṇḍit Jainatilāla Jī. Deval Sāhab rightly said that Gurudev’s words... Afterwards, when we speak, it will be from the perspective of the spectator; it is not something very significant. After Gurudev’s discourse, after Gurudev’s explanation, we, being ordinary people, may say a few words, but just now Gurudev was saying about theory, theory... Now, what benefit will you get? Gurujī said that our scriptures were taken away by foreigners, so perhaps many of you do not know, especially the youth, that our scriptures, which were in Sanskrit, were very powerful scriptures, as you must be aware. In those times, even Mātā Sītā was brought by Rāma as a beggar and a mendicant, coming to receive alms in the form of begging. And in those days, he took her by vimāna—from the forest to Laṅkā by vimāna. When Bhagavān Rāma returned from there, the Puṣpaka vimāna came to take them back. So, in Bhagavān Rāma’s era, there were vimānas in Hindustān. So what did Gurudev say? He said that our scriptures were taken away, and Max Müller was such a writer, such a great scholar. Let me tell you an old story: the first in space was Russia, who sent Yuri Gagarin. So these newspaper people, like Lakṣmaṇa... So the President of America responded that the Germans are working better than our Germans. The Vedas and Purāṇas of Sanskrit, the Sanskrit literature, the books of knowledge of India, were stolen from here many ages ago and taken away. All that is with the Germans, and those Germans were the ones who used to remember it, so whether the remembrance came or not, what is this desire? Your mother, your home, your devoted wife remember you there, you feel the desire, what is this, this is just a missed call, meaning in today’s date, it is an anti-ballistic missile, you have that... In those times, they used to shoot arrows, and today, in modern science, this is called an anti-ballistic missile. If America launches any missile from here, Russia will know immediately. That is the dominance of that very science, and Gurudev has perfected all that science. He said that all the science, all the books, all the knowledge of Sanskrit has gone from Hindustān, and Hindustān was once dominant. And all the science, as Gurudev rightly said, is the knowledge of Hindustān itself. Because this knowledge went outside, today Hindustān is lagging behind. Hindustān was once like a golden bird even at that time. And the golden bird was indeed present at that time; this has now been proven. In the Padmanābha temple, who knows, there were crores of mānas—meaning crores of mānas of gold, diamonds, and jewels. When we read about it in the newspapers, trumpets sound, yet the entire annual budget of the government of Hindustān is not equal to that. Such wealth was found in the basement of just one temple, spread across four rooms. When I found it, then what was lacking in Hindustān, the golden bird? Deval Sāhab said, it was turned into a desert. We were right here, this was the collector Sāhab’s bungalow, this was the collector Sāhab’s field, there wasn’t a single tree here. I don’t know, Mādhavānanda Jī said, did you dig or not? Did you plant or not? Planted, Sāhab, for Gurudev, not for Mahīśvara. I was living in a rented place, paying fifty-four thousand rupees for one room. A BPL Rajmī gave it to Indra. In that housing scheme, even for forty or fifty-four thousand rupees, you couldn’t get a proper room, and the room was made very small. And when I saw that room, it felt like heaven, and I felt very happy. Then Mahāsura Jī said, what did you say? Since Bāvjī, the politicians are as hard as stone, when we too step away from politics, keep a room for me as well. Adding it here, closing it there, in this āśrama, all of us devotees of the Guru, whether one is a disciple of Mādhavānanda Jī, or a disciple of Mahīśvara Jī, or... Some devotee of Bhagavān is like a lamp bearer; we all are connected to these saints, related to our Jāḍaṇa āśrama. I was at Khāṭū, in that cave, I said, "Son, why does the mind not settle? Our elders do this, elders do that, but the mind does not settle. When we eat bread, there is no desire." So, I was in that cave... There, my son, a lamp was lit. I honestly, I would say with sincerity, for two to three hours I kept turning that mālā. I tell you honestly, I contested six elections, lost all six, and was burdened with the debt of six elections. But in those two to three hours of the mālā, the thought left my mind, saying, "Oh friend, life is dear, my friend." If there is a desire, a desire... So once again, countless salutations at Gurudev’s feet, and I honestly tell you, I haven’t had the opportunity myself, but where Gurudev resides, abroad, in the best country in the world, Austria, and in the office of our company Siemens there, at the Siemens office where... Siemens had an office, and in that Siemens office in Vienna, Bābājī’s āśrama is established. They reside there. This is the divine play of two Bhagavāns; it is not the play of Mādhavānanda Jī or Dīpanāna Bhagavān. This is our college and school here at Bābājī’s place, and all these girls come to see Gurudev and receive his blessings. Just look at the Hindu culture here. Nowadays, your children are becoming Anglicized, you see, they are becoming Anglicized. I do not want to talk about these things, I will not study in a Christian school, nor will I get admitted to a Christian school, I will not do it, nor will I allow it. I have told all the students of my gurukula to go and have their meal; the time for rest is over, the children are hungry, go, my child. And our knowledge, our scriptures have been thoroughly studied; even now I want to tell you that the knowledge of our Upaniṣads, Vedas, and the Gītā is written in their religious texts, and they say that this is their knowledge. What greater loss could there be for those who only speak of money? No daughter is ever considered worthy—there are daughters of knowledge, daughters of culture, daughters of every kind. Now, our Suparasa Jī Bhaṇḍārī, the name itself is Parasa, and that too Suparasa, meaning the very best, the most excellent, becomes the best, becomes the most excellent... But I will tell you two words. They also have love for me; I consider them my brothers, friends, everyone. I have always received their love and respect. Their affection and warmth have drawn all of you here as well. I always find inspiration to come here, and the inspiration is that one should see Bhagavān as the Guru, for we cannot directly attain Him. One can attain the guru as well as, through the guru, attain Bhagavān. Therefore, the glory of the guru has always existed and will continue to exist. One must have true faith in the guru, and just as these gurukuls have been established, they are a part of our culture. The efforts made by Mādhavānanda Jī Mahārāj Sāhab and later by Maheśvarānanda Jī to sustain our tradition are truly commendable. He has already mentioned that many things are being lost from our country. Why am I saying this? Because there are many foreign delegates here and they are pupils of Mahārāj Sāhab, now they have started understanding the credibility and literature, and the science and other literary theories available in India from ancient times, from the very old period which was our cultural heritage. Now these people have begun to understand and wish to understand, and having understood, they want to take it back to their own country as well. Whatever is good should always be learned, whether it is good here or good somewhere else. We should learn whatever good we come across. I have definitely seen Vienna, I have certainly been there, and they have thoughtfully established an āśrama there. They have thousands of followers there, and here as well, hundreds come regularly. The devotees of Guru Mahārāj and the way they show their devotion to the Guru... Probably we are not maintaining that. We all come like a fair, touching the feet in the cold for two minutes, but the heart is somewhere else, the mind is elsewhere. However, whatever these people are, they are 100% devoted to Guru Mahārāj and they are absolutely with Guru Mahārāj. So that is why we are very happy to see how so many English people are disciples of the Guru. We should also learn something from them. The culture that Gurumahārāj is advancing, we should contribute in whatever way we can, taking it even to foreign lands. Therefore, this is the... I offer my heartfelt congratulations and sincere blessings to them. We all feel sorrow over the passing of their mother, but she was in an advanced age. Everyone eventually departs from this world, yet she went into the hands of these very people, and all of your disciples, all of you, have served her. The blessings of that service will surely be received by all. With these words, on the occasion of Guru Pūrṇimā today, I extend my congratulations to all of you. The meal service has been continuing since 10 o’clock in the morning. Those dear ones who have not eaten must do so before leaving. And you will all be very pleased to know that especially in this area... Who are those who repeatedly come to our Jānkṣaṇa Tehsil and specifically... Nowadays, the government has made it open, so it must be less; I do not know. But so many foreigners come to us, and to convert their foreign currency into Indian currency, it is quite a hassle. One has to go to Jodhpur, Jaipur; even in Pālī, it is not possible. It happens, it doesn’t even happen in dreams. I myself, for so many years, whenever anyone comes for alms, I have to put coins in the bag. So, for your information, Deval Sāhab, the SBI branch has opened, and today, on the sacred occasion of Gurupūrṇimā, their inauguration is taking place—the opening ceremony, as they say. So, all of you... A heartfelt welcome to all of you. You are cordially invited and most welcome. A room has been arranged for them inside the hospital itself. And today, on Guru Pūrṇimā, everyone is coming one by one to offer their full respects. Along with this, our Ācārya Jainatilāla Jī Vyāsa and Śarmā Dāve are also here for you. If I say something about saṃskāra, then Dave Sāhab, you can either go inside or stay, it’s up to you. Come here, tie this, tie this. He said, "Sapte Karude." Mahāprabhudīpa does only this. The children of our Viktīyāle have received 11,000 rupees as fees for the janma saṃskāra, and if any other gentlemen wish to contribute, they are welcome. The key is there, above the key is a photo of Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa, and next to it is one of Rādhā and Kṛṣṇa. Behind it, a small brass knife is attached. Please be kind enough to bring this back here. Sanskrit and Hindi terms include: cakra, prāṇa, kuṇḍalinī, ātman, Brahman, saṃskāra, dharma, prāṇa, śakti, kīrtana, oṃ, namaste, prāṇa, śakti, kīrtana, oṃ, namaste... Prāṇa, energize them, energize them, energize them. Badrī Bhāī Jī, wherever you are in Pāvā, please come near the microphone for satsaṅga; we are waiting for you. The lamp of Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān is here. Now, everyone, please stop talking. Listen carefully, those who have not received mantra dīkṣā, whose mantra dīkṣā... Whether one wants to take it or not, whether a great sage from Marwāḍ wishes to rise, the humble one does not remain; we are here in the first moment, and in the next moment, it diminishes here as well. Those who wish to receive the dīkṣā mantra should immediately come and sit in front of Gurujī. Those who want to take the dīkṣā mantra should come right now and sit before Gurujī. The dīkṣā mantra will be given here in the paṇḍāl. Whoever wants to receive the guru dīkṣā mantra should promptly come and sit in front of Gurujī in the paṇḍāl. Say, "Jai Bhagavān," light the lamp, come forward, sit down. Those who want to take the mantra, do so now; and those who do not want to take the mantra, you may dance and enjoy. Come forward a little more, gather closer. Hey, those who have the mantra, please sit down. Come, come, hang around, O Jagadīśa, Jumralāla, no one has told Madana anything about Mātā Jī, this saṅkriyā, no one has told Madana anything about Mātā Jī. I say, it has happened twice that Bāvjī has not told me anything. I have studied in Ameṭhā, Jagadīśa, no one has told Rūpā’s people. He quickly came and sat down in front of Gurujī. "Hey Lakṣmaṇa Jī, these 11,000 rupees, which have just come from the jainiva saṃskāra of these children, from the collection during the procession, amount to 11,000 rupees. Now, with these 11,000 rupees, for these children, clothes or..." I am giving you the proper use of the books; I have not counted them, they are exactly as they were placed here. Some others, like Saitha and a few people, might have added more in the jholī, so there may be more. Alright, from this, give five hundred rupees to Paṇḍit Jī for the Pālī people, okay? And who else were the paṇḍits? Two from Ahmedabad. Taking a mantra is what makes human life fruitful. Among the sixteen saṃskāras, mantra dīkṣā is also one saṃskāra, but it has its own rules, and until you chant that mantra, there is no benefit. So, what is it that Maṇi Bāvajī gave as a mantra? If you make two mistakes, it should not happen. The more you chant, the greater the attainment of siddhi will be. You should chant diligently, and fast every Thursday and every full moon, as well as on Ekādaśī. If you cannot fast on Thursdays or Mondays, then at least observe the full moon fast. Avoid drinking alcohol; if you do, even one bottle leads to five bottles consumed. If someone drinks a bottle, or a drunkard drinks five, or does not drink alcohol, does not eat meat, does not eat eggs, then I will give you a very simple mantra. I will give a mantra that is deep and long, but if you cannot remember it, then first say, "He Paramāpita, I have to speak to You," then take it and say it aloud. O Supreme Father, Paramātmā, great unifier, Sūrya Deva, Agni, Pṛthvī, Jala, Vāyu, and all the deities as witnesses, today on this auspicious occasion of Guru Pūrṇimā, I am embracing guru devotion, a discipline I shall uphold throughout my life. O Supreme Father Paramātmā, protect my resolve, let there be pure peace, prosperity, and spiritual accomplishments in my home. O Lord, I am devoted to Your sacred feet with undivided love. Protect me, protect me, protect me. Grant me knowledge, devotion, power, and spiritual strength. May it increase day by day and bring about our well-being. Oṃ Guru Dīpa Namaḥ. Oṃ Guru Dīpa Namaḥ is a very simple and very powerful mantra. Oṃ Guru Dīpa Namaḥ. Wherever you are seated, offer your salutations from there. Wherever you are seated, offer your salutations from there. Now rise and do it again. Arīom, now keep chanting Oṃ Guru Dīpa Namaḥ continuously. I do not light a lamp for myself, I do not light a lamp for myself... Oṃ Dīpanam Prabhudīpanam Oṃ Dīpanam Prabhudīpanam Oṃ Aṅgoro Āśrama Aded. Oṃ Dīpanam Prabhudīpanam Oṃ Dīpanam Prabhudīpanam... Prabhudīpanam Prabhudīpanam Oṃ Dīpanam Prabhudīpanam Oṃ Dīpanam Prabhudīpanam... Oṃ Dīpaname Prabhudīpa Oṃ Dīpaname Prabhudīpa... Oṃ guru dīpanamā, prabhu dīpanamā, Oṃ depar nāmāī, prabho depar nāmāī, prabho... depar nāmāī. If once they say they will not come, then what will we do? What treatment do we have? Going to Gurujī is for later.
