Gurupurnima celebration 2011

The true form of the Guru is the Word. The body is assumed by that Word. The Guru is unaging, immortal, indivisible, ever-present truth. The true form of the disciple is the soul. In the end, it merges into that very Word. The soul is a ray of that Word. The Satguru is the Word. The Satguru bestows the Name. That Name cannot be snatched away. The Satguru alone comes at death. The Satguru is the true protector forever. Liberation is attained on the very day the Satguru is met. After liberation, bhajana, remembrance, service, and compassion are performed. Those acts are not for liberation. Those acts are simply following the Guru’s command. Liberation already happened.

“Satguru is the Word, and the Word alone is the Satguru.”

“I am simply following the Guru’s command: to serve, to sing bhajans, to remember, to be compassionate.”

Part 1: The Guru is the Word: Reflections on Guru Pūrṇimā This ashram belongs to all of you. All of you are responsible for it. Actually, there are only five people who are responsible for it. Those shoes in your class belong to you; you are responsible for them. No, it is like this. Jo tum celā dekho, dekhe kī khān, jo tum celā śabda kā, śabda brahma kare man. In reality, the true form of the Guru is the Word itself. The body is only assumed by this Word to make the beings of the world understand, comprehend, and become conscious. Yeh śarīra guru aur śiṣya donoṁ ko yahīṁ choṛ jānā hai. The Guru is unaging, immortal, indivisible, ever-present, and shines with truth. Guru ajar amar hai, akhaṇḍ hai, abhyāsī hai, satya seṁ prakāśī hai. The true form of the disciple is the soul. Śiṣya kā asalī rūp ātmā hai. In the end, it will go and merge into that very Word. Anta meṁ jā kar usī śabda meṁ hī jā samāegī. In the same way, the soul of a human being is also a ray of that very Word. Isī prakār, insān kī ātmā bhī, us śabda kī hī kiraṇ hai. The Satguru is the Word, and the Word alone is the Satguru. Satguru śabda hai, aur śabda hī Satguru hai. Within that very Word lies the true nectar. The Sadguru instructs his disciples only in that very Word. Only when we meet the Guru can our love for him arise, and it is his love alone that can attach us to the love of that Supreme Soul. Jis par Sadguru apnī chhāp lagā detā hai. The Sadguru who bestows the Name—Sadguru jo nām bakṣīs karte haiṁ—na havā uṛā saktā hai, aur na pānī ḍubā saktā hai. The Name that the Satguru bestows, no one can snatch away. Satguru jo nām bakṣīs karte haiṁ, usko koī chīnn nahīṁ saktā. Such a Satguru, at the time of death, himself comes to take the servant and does not let him go with the messengers of Yama. Aise Satguru martu ke samay sevak ko khud lene āte, aur Yam Dūtoṁ ke sāth nahīṁ jāne dete. The Satguru is our true friend and protector, not only in this world but also at the moment of our death. He helps us and takes care of us forever. We have many relatives, friends, and lovers, yet while we are alive we can become separated from them. In the end, we go with no one, and no one can help another. That is why Sadguru Śānt Mahāpuruṣa said that before the Sadguru, even the post of Indra Rājā is nothing. In this way, when we receive the darśana of the Satguru, we have attained liberation; then there is no further liberation to be gained. My liberation happened on the very day I met the Guru. My liberation occurred on that same day we found Gurudev. When we encountered the Satpuruṣa, our liberation was accomplished that very day. Abhā āve to maiṁ sab kī karūṁ bhalā, jag sārī meṁ to unkā hūṁ bhikhārī. Joṛī hṛde māṅge rahūṁ, māṅge rahūṁ har vārī, maiṁ to unkā hūṁ bhikhārī. Aise Sadguru kā śaraṇ Kabīr nahīṁ choṛe. After entering the refuge of such a Sadguru, our liberation is already accomplished. Aise Sadguru kī śaraṇ meṁ āne ke bād, hamārī mokṣa ho cukī hai. To Śaṅkara peṛā uṭhī hai, Sadguru milne ke bād. Mokṣa has already been attained. Once liberation is achieved, then why continue with bhajana? Whom should one remember? To whom should one give charity, perform good deeds, or offer service? Mokṣa to ho cukī hai, mokṣa hone ke bād meṁ phir bhajan kis kā karnā? Sumiran kis kī karnī? Dāna, puṇya, sevā, kis kā karnā? To Śaṅkara kā samādhān hotā hai, maiṁ mālā bhajan sumiran kartā hūṁ. Ye mokṣa ke lie nahīṁ kartā hūṁ. Ye mokṣa to us din ho gayā. Keval Gurū kī ājñā hai. I am simply following the Guru’s command: to serve, to sing bhajans, to remember, to be compassionate. Gurū kī ājñā kā pālan kartā hūṁ. Gurū kī ājñā hai: sevā karnā, bhajan karnā, sumiran karnā, dayā rakhnā. Ye Gurū kī ājñā hai, aur ājñā kā pālan kartā hūṁ. Therefore, my liberation happened on that very day. I met the Guru, and all became auspicious. Now if they come, I will do for everyone. Come, O innocent sustainer of the world, I am theirs, utterly helpless. Speak of the compassionate Sadguru. I will now narrate a little about the Anāthakoṭ Mahāpuruṣa in a short while, by the order of Gurudev Jī. To Gurujī Mahārāja, I offer my faith and expand his words. As far as my intellect allows, I have shown and told; do not consider that a mistake, and from where else could I bring it? To Gurujī Mahārāja, kī maiṁ ek śraddhā pramāṇa kartā hū̃, aur vāṇī ko vṛddhi detā hū̃. Jāne kī jitnī buddhi hai, utnā dekh batāī, tāko bhūlā na mānye, aur kahā̃ se lāī? … the bliss of today belongs to the supreme persons of Satguru Dev. Satguru Dev kī sarvasattāmā puruṣoṁ kī āj ke ānand kī. Now, join your hands. Those who remember the āratī of Gurudev, recite it along with them. Those who do not know it, close their eyes or keep them open and meditate on Gurudev. Stay seated with folded hands and pray. Purījī, Purījī… Samrāṭ Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān Dhāraṇā Parāśavara Pāna Paravandhi Nandana Jai Jai Deva Dayāla Śiva Kāruṇa Sumaṅgala Mūla Śrī Dīpa Jñāna Vaira Śaḍarabho Vando Śaraṇa Gurudeva Śrī Deva Puruṣa Sukhadāyaka Yogayogati Āp Satguru Mein Śiṣyaṁ, Āp Mā Praṇadat Paramahaṁsa Gurudev Jī, Tīnalok Ke Dev, Surnar Muni Sabh Sant, Nitya Utkartā Sevā Satguru Samdhat, He Sabh Jag Mangana Hāt, Kyā Rājā Kyā Bhāgya, Sab Hī Kadara Kare O Prabhudīp Praṇāma Brahmananda Durvāsī, Bolī Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān, Śrī Śrī Devī Svarmāṇ, Hindu Dharma Samrāṭ, Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān, Kapila Bhagavān, Śaṅkarācārya Bhagavān, Satya Sanātana, Savarṣi Muni Mahātmā, Kī Jaya, Mahāprabhudīp. See if it is there or not; it is open. Hold one person and give it to one person. Okay, great, son. Thank you, son. That’s it, Hari Om. Come, Sakant jī. Yes, I will distribute the prasād. Wavecast, okay? Yes. When we sing hymns in Hindi, the devotees who have come from other countries do not understand the language. Even then, they remain in pin-drop silence. And we know that they are very angry and are waiting for us to come. But there is a very good technique to keep them quiet: if someone says something to you, you have to hit him hard. Don’t hit him hard for three, four, five days. That’s it. So, who said, “Don’t hit him, don’t hit him”? Now, in front of us, Swami Śānti Jī will speak in two languages. This camera before you can be seen anywhere in the world if someone turns on a computer. There are about 218 countries. In any of these countries, if someone turns on his computer or goes to Swāmījī TV, it will be seen immediately. Here too, if you have a computer or a mobile phone, you can see it better. Swamiji, www.swamiji.tv. So, Śāntījī will speak in two languages. First, she will speak in German for those devotees who only understand German. And after that, Śāntījī, who holds a doctorate and diploma in French from a French school in Vienna, will speak. French is a very good language; when she speaks French, even the people of France open their eyes and ears and wonder who is speaking so well. So, she will speak the message of Guru Pūrṇimā in both languages. Keep listening, and if someone speaks, you have to be careful. So now, our dear Sādhvī Śāntījī will give the message for Guru Pūrṇimā through our webcast, which goes around the world. First, she will speak in German for ten to twenty minutes—it doesn’t matter, since we have the whole night. After that, she will speak in French, and then in English. But before that, she recited: Dhyāna Mūlaṁ Guru Mūrti, Pūjā Mūlaṁ Guru Pādaṁ, Mantra Mūlaṁ Guru Vākyaṁ, Mokṣa Mūlaṁ Guru Kṛpā. Brahmanandaṁ Paramasukadaṁ Kevalaṁ Jñānamūrtiṁ, Dvandvātītaṁ Gaganasadṛśyaṁ, Tasmai Śrī Gurave Namaḥ. Ekaṁ Nityaṁ Vimalam Achalaṁ Sarvadīkṣākṣibhūtaṁ. Oṃ Dīp Jyoti Parabrahma Dīpaṃ Sarve Mohanaṃ Siddhip Naram Gwanakid. Then, speaking in French and later in English, Śāntījī said: Bonjour, chers amis, tout le monde. I am very surprised that I have the honor to speak in French, because it has been maybe ten years since I last spoke it. So please excuse me if my language is not as perfect as it could be. Our good morning comes from India, through the webcast from Jadan Ashram, the largest ashram in India that Swamiji has created. Since yesterday, we have been celebrating Guru Pūrṇimā here, and you know that Pūrṇimā means the complete, what is completely whole. This is the occasion to offer a very big thank you and to give our devotion to the Master. The Master is the Guru who leads us from the shadow to the light. It is wonderful if you can be with the Master. I have been with Swamiji for thirty-four years now, and every day with him is a great surprise. I have received so many gifts, so many wonderful things, that I am always completely surprised and full of happiness. With all the blessings I receive, we are passing through a difficult time, as you all know, and it is a time to give concentration to our sādhanā. For me, that is a very great example. To be in love, to give love, and to serve others is what is most important. In the Bhagavad Gītā it is written that if you serve others, if you do karma yoga, sevā in whatever way you can, it is the fastest and simplest way to realize God. On this day, I also think a lot about Holī Gurujī. I had the opportunity to be with him for several years. He was the greatest bhakta I have ever seen. Holī Gurujī did his mālā for twenty-four years. When I was with him, we could not speak together because he didn’t speak English and I didn’t speak Hindi, so our language was the bhajans. He taught me a great deal about bhajans; he was a living Bhajan guru. I think we should take this from him: the greatest bhakti I have ever seen. He gave a great example of bhakti. He repeated the mantra all day long and always sang bhajans. So if you have problems, if many things disturb you and create difficulties in life, the simplest thing is to sing. When you chant a mantra, a general mantra, or when you sing bhajana or kīrtana, repeating the name of God is the best medicine to reduce all the shadow in our soul. This is what Holī Gurujī always did. So the more you do, sing, and try to turn your gaze from the world inward—Brahma satyaṁ, jagat mithyā. Never forget this. Never forget: it is God who is love, who is the soul; it is God who is our soul, our destiny. Try to separate from the world, and separating from the world means entering into your soul and seeing what is inside, and what is inside is the Ātmā. So you are the Ātmā, Cidānandarūpa, Śivo’ham, Śivo’ham. Even if you only sing this, you are in another world. That is what I wanted to tell you from here, and I send you all the love of Swāmījī throughout the whole world. Be good disciples, do your sādhanā, and focus on the love of life. You are with us; we love you all, and we are a very big family, a happy family, a family full of hope and love. Siddhi Pūraṇa Bhagavān, thank you very much. Rāmī Śāntījī, in his French language, explained the glory of Guru Pūrṇimā. I know you very well. Who is Māmī? Mātājī. If you call me Māmī, I will not call you Māmī; I will hit you with a stick. If you call me Mātā Jī, go away! I will not call you Māmī. If you call me Māmī, I will kill you. Then call me Pitā Jī. If you call me Pitā Jī, I will not call you Māmī. If you call me Māmā Jī, I will call you Papā Jī. I will not call you Māmī or Papā; I will call you Pitājī or Mātājī. So, Dr. Śāntījī, in French, explained the importance of Guru Pūrṇimā and the disciple’s ultimate goal: ātmā jñāna. As the supreme Guru Bhagavān Śaṅkarācārya said, “Cidānanda rūpaḥ śivo’ham śivo’ham.” She explained it very well, and you are sitting calmly—hence her name is also Śāntī. Now Śāntī Jī will give a message in German. There are countries where only German is spoken. Those people do not understand English, French, or other languages. So now Śāntī Jī will speak in German. Good? I can understand a little bit of what you are saying; I can’t fully understand, but I will try. Good? I don’t have any German, but I will try to improve. Pīṭhāsūn. Thank you. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān, Kī Jai, Śrī Alakhpurījī, Śrī Siddha Pīṭh Paramparā, Kī Jai, Viśvaguru, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Paramahaṁsvāmyam, Aśvarānandajī, Guru Deva, Kī Jai. Swamiji made a special pūjā for the European bhaktas. Yesterday, there were already spiritual songs here, and Swāmījī has been speaking all day, constantly bestowing blessings. It is a wonderful atmosphere; thousands of people are here. Something special happened today: a strong monsoon rain arrived on Guru Pūrṇimā Day. I remember, I think it was two years ago, we were also sitting at this place in Jadan Āśram when a very strong monsoon rain with wind came. Mahāprabhujī, Karatā Purījī, Siddha Purījī, Siddha... This weather always means blessings. It is simply a blessing that comes to us from the elements, and this wind comes from the Himalayas and the north. You know that our Siddha Pīṭh Alakhpurījī, our Guru lineage, goes back to the seat of Alakhpurījī in the Himalayas, and I see that simply as a blessing from the Himalayas. Siddha Purījī, Siddha Purījī... We must go through it, the tīkṣā, that we have to hold on to; it is our task to stand through the wind, the storm, the earthquake, everything. Holī Gurujī is very present for me in this āśram and at this time, because he lived here for many, many years. He is always present for all Karmayogīs, for all who are here, and his radiance is noticeable everywhere. When he was still alive, he was a pole for all of us where we could rest; when you came near him, you were immediately in complete peace. Swamiji always had this ashram in his mind. I met him thirty-four years ago, and a few years later, there was a small group—we were maybe twelve or fourteen people—and one day he took us with Katharina and made a drawing of his Om Āśram. At that time I thought, he was a young Swami, and there was no possibility of finances or anything like that, yet he drew up this project, and I actually didn’t believe it. I thought, the young Swami, how does he want to realize all these things? But where there is a will, there is a way. Swamījī simply carried out the mission of his master through all the years. He brought thousands of people to spirituality, and he built here a huge āśram, which is not for him but for all of us. Purījī, Purījī... He is very strong in this ashram, whether he is there or not. And now, last but not least, Mātājī is also here with us. She embodies the female side, Śiva and Śakti. She is a wonderful mother, a wonderful woman. Mahāprabhujī Karatā Purījī, Siddha Purījī, Siddha... Purījī. It is nice when you come here often and can be in this atmosphere. Part 2: The Supreme Goal: Teachings from a Guru Pūrṇimā Satsaṅga The place where we are gathered is itself a great gift for all of us. I would like to remind everyone that spirituality means keeping the spiritual goal ever in mind, and above all, listening to the words of Śaṅkarācārya and studying his writings. In them, it is perfectly and wonderfully described what the goal is and which view and philosophy stand behind Yoga and Divine Life and Advaita philosophy. As one of the stanzas says: There is neither food nor the nourished, nor is there the master nor the scholar. For in truth, there is only the highest cosmic consciousness, Jīdānandarūpa, Śivo’ham, Śivo’ham. And our task is to realize this goal through the exercises, through the sādhanā that Swāmījī has given us, and to find your inner Ānanda, the highest consciousness of blissfulness — Purī, Purī... If I may share a second, perhaps small, recommendation: it is the twelfth chapter of the Bhagavad Gītā. At its end, it is described very precisely how we should be: always friendly, always loving, without criticism, always satisfied — in heat or cold, in praise or blame, always equal. This is a wonderful chapter, and in the last verses it is stated with great precision: Adveṣṭā sarvabhūtānām and so on. This is something truly wonderful. It is not important what others do; it is important only what I do. You cannot change other people; you can only change yourself. That is why it is vital to keep our goal in mind. To achieve that: do good, be good, see good. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Jai. This was Svāmījī Śānti, Dr. Śānti. Dr. Shanti jī is a dental surgeon, a specialist of the teeth. She has only one principle: not to pull teeth out but to leave them as they are, to restore them and make them strong. Dr. Shanti has one principle: not to extract teeth, but to preserve and repair them so that they always remain good. You see my children? They have good teeth because I have known Dr. Śāntījī for the last 35 years. Often we fight; I wanted to pull one out, and she said no. She also takes care of the hospital in Jadan. Indian doctors work in Jādaṇ Āśram; they have become experts there. People come from far and wide to Jadan Āśram to have their teeth treated. Gurujī used to tell a story about language. In the time of the British, in a small city where they had offices, Indians too worked there. One day was the birthday of one of the Indians. Two English officers were invited. The Indian called them for breakfast. Two people came, but one Englishman’s wife could not; she said she would come at 10 o’clock. The English went to the office. The Indian asked his wife: “The memsahib will come now, so I will come at 10 o’clock.” He said that repeatedly. Then a Marwari who worked there, misunderstanding the language, thought the English lady was asking for “good morning” in his dialect — which he took to mean gud (jaggery) and maṅgrī (a sweet). So he ran home, brought jaggery and a kind of sweet, and placed them on the table. The English lady kept saying “Good morning,” and he kept offering more. Later she asked for “water, sister.” The Marwari, still not understanding, thought she wanted a bucket of water for the jaggery. He brought a bucket. Finally the foreign lady stood up, said “Idiot,” and left — mad. The moral is: when a person does not understand the language, he ends up as a laughingstock. Gurujī would add: the one who understands the words understands the language; otherwise it’s all confusion. That was a story. Now, Lakṣmījī from Italy will deliver the message of Guru Pūrṇimā in Italian and sing a bhajan. Please listen in peace. She says: “Śabda se lainā, śabda se dayānā, śabda se karnī hain bāt. Bāt mārī helī, śabda sanai mārī jāt rāhe, mārī helī.” Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān, Satya Gurudeva, Kīrtan. Lakṣmījī then gave the following message in Italian, which translates to English thus: “Good morning, dear friends, brothers and sisters, spiritual seekers from all over the world. A special greeting to all the Italians who are listening to us. This greeting I send from this divine land, India, Jādaṇ, where I have the good fortune to be for the occasion of Guru Pūrṇimā. I am very, very happy to be here with my master, Swāmījī Māheśvarānanda, author of the system Yoga in Daily Life and a divine soul. To all spiritual seekers, a joyful greeting. Swamijī asked me to translate this bhajan for you. I will do it with a few simple words that come from the heart. The greatest joy is to be at the feet of a true master, of a saint, and Swamijī is so — in form, in spirit, God with us. The bhajan says: ‘I do not have desire — I do not have desire for the things of the world, of the sky, of material possessions, of everyday objects, of what we can gain endlessly.’ No, we do not seek these; we seek something more — simply to be at the feet of the Master, to follow our spiritual path, whatever it may be. I have found my way. Everyone has their own way. This is the safest, with a self-realized Master, a Guru — Purījī, Purī… — in a very simple way, because God wants simple things, things done with the heart, with simplicity, small gestures. Yet in these difficult times we need a guide, and we can find this guide in various people. Mahāprabhudīp Karatā Purījī, Siddha Purījī, Siddha… Allow me also to invite you to consult our website yogaindailylife.org. Because God and realized souls like Swāmījī are for everyone, for all souls, for all spiritual seekers, regardless of the religion they profess — whether Catholic, Hinduism, or any other. So let us not seek impossible things, but seek the simplest things, those that come from the heart and are possible only when God makes them possible, only when Gurudev, a saint, with his presence, his example, his infinite love, gives us this possibility. And thank you to all who are present here, to the absent, to the past — as St. Francis said: ‘Past, present, and also to the future ones.’ Thank you. Blessed Indian soil, thank you. And long live Italy too.” This was our Lakṣmījī from Italy. In the Italian language, she explained the importance of Guru Pūrṇimā. How fortunate we are to have witnessed and celebrated the festival of Guru Pūrṇimā here. The venerations taking place are very good. She spoke in a beautiful language; those who speak Spanish — in South America or Spain — or Italian can understand it well. So, thank you very much, Lakṣmījī. Now, let us change the language a little. Our Chandan Singh Jī from Sandara village has come — are you seated? Chandan Singh Jī from Sandara. And now, before you, our one and only scholar, our very dear disciple, Śrīmad Bhāgavat Jī, Jyoti Bhāratī Jī. On this Guru Pūrṇimā, come, son, give him the mic. The one sitting here is the granddaughter of Kheemanan Jī; Kheemanan Jī is the disciple of Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar, the senior Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar Gītā Bhāratī Jī of the Mahānirvāṇī Akhāṛā. He is the disciple of Gurujī, and she is Kheemanan Jī’s granddaughter. Then Jyoti Bhāratī Jī began his discourse: Gurur Brahmā, Gurur Viṣṇu, Gurur Devo Maheśvara, Guruḥ Sākṣāt Parabrahma, Tasmai Śrī Gurave Namaḥ. Pūjya Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar, Śrī 1008, Mādhavānandjī Mahārāj Jī kī Jai! Pūjya Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar, Śrī 1008, Maheśvarānandjī, Maheśvarānand Purī Jī, Mahārāj Jī kī Jai! Sarva Bhakta Jano kī Jai! Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā is a subject of supreme mystery. By considering the essence of scripture, worldly wisdom, and the sayings of great beings, I have reached the conclusion that in this world there is no scripture as beneficial for welfare as Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā. Among all the sādhanās that have been taught, one stands out: śraddhā (faith). Only those who take refuge in the Lord and constantly contemplate the Gītā can truly realize its profound efficacy. The person who, with a pure heart and loving devotion, recites this sacred scripture, and who, free from grief and attachments, practices its teachings, attains to the abode of Śrī Viṣṇu. Reciting the Gītā and living the path of Prāṇāyāma certainly destroys all the sins committed in previous births and in this life. A daily bath with water removes only the physical dirt of a human being. But the bath taken but once in the form of the wisdom of the Gītā — in that water — liberates the soul from the cycle of worldly existence. The Gītā has emerged directly from the lotus mouth of Bhagavān Śrī Viṣṇu. By drinking this Gītā‑Gaṅgā water, one does not have to take birth again. It is like a complete cow: Gopāl Nandan Śrī Kṛṣṇa is the milker, Śrī Arjuna is the calf, and the great Gītā is the nectar‑milk of that cow. Siddha Pīṭh paramparā, Viśokanandajī, Śrī Madhvānanda Purījī — those who fill their hearts with love and devotion and recite the Bhagavad Gītā can experience its grace and enter into the very form of the Gītā. It is fitting for all women and men to take the devotee Arjuna as their ideal, to cultivate the divine qualities of Arjuna within themselves, and to chant Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā. They too will taste its grace. Śrī Kṛṣṇa Candra Ananta Bhagavān has said that his most confidential glory is there for the benefit of all. The mind of one who, in the best way, offers the best time to God cannot give up the thought of God even for a moment. Because whatever a person considers supreme holds love within it, and wherever there is love, the mind dwells. Therefore, the foremost duty is to understand the supreme, confidential grace of the Lord, to wholeheartedly renounce attachment to the perishable, to this miserable world, and, taking refuge in the Supreme Self, to excel in bhajan and satsaṅga. Oṁ śānti hi śānti hi... Satguru Devakī Jai. Now, the one who is sitting before us is a young Mahātma, whose name is Devpurījī Mahārāj. Swamījī wished to give him this name, and so he kept it. Now I will tell you a little about the Gītā — for ten to fifteen minutes — what its actual form is, what the Gītā is, and what it contains. I shall highlight its primary and secondary features in Sanskrit, and then touch upon the second and third chapters. Just as his Brāhmaṇa initiation is done, he has already started reciting the Gītā, and here he will complete it. Oṁ Pūrṇam Adaḥ Pūrṇam Idaṁ, Pūrṇāt Pūrṇam Udacyate, Kṛṣṇaṁ Vande Jagat Guruṁ, Oṁ, Oṁ... The Gītā is direct divine speech (divyavāṇī). The Gītā is a transcendent scripture (pāramdarśī grantha). The Gītā is a boundless ocean of knowledge. The Gītā is a means for attaining devotion to the Lord. The Gītā also explains the science of the body and the principles of the Self. There is a difference between the Gītā’s liberation and mere conceptual liberation. By contemplating the Gītā, your sorrows disappear; when the mind is brought under control, one becomes directly the form of Nārāyaṇa. Indeed, the Gītā is the heart of the Lord, the core of the Sāvitrī, the relationship between the individual soul and the Supreme Soul. It is greater even than the Gāyatrī. The Gītā is the essence of the Upaniṣads, the queen of the Sūtras, the culmination of the Vedas, the compiler of all, the eternal scripture for all beings, a scripture abiding in truth and forbearance. Now, what is there in the Gītā? It contains eighteen Adhyāyas: the first is Arjuna Viṣāda Yoga, the second Sāṅkhya Yoga, the third Karma Yoga, the fourth Jñāna Karma Sannyāsa Yoga, the fifth Karma Sannyāsa Yoga, the sixth Dhyāna Yoga, the seventh Jñāna Vijñāna Yoga, the eighth Akṣara Brahma Yoga… The Gītā has two parts: the Mantra portion and the Brahman portion. In it is Antaryoga; in it is Brahmajñāna. In it is the dialogue between Śrī Kṛṣṇa Candra and Arjuna. The Gītā also contains the names of Bhagavān’s own: Anantarūpa, Acyuta, Harisūdana, Kamalapatra, Keśinīsūdana, Keśava, Govinda, Jagatpati, Jagadīśa, Janārdana, Deva, Deva, Dekinandan, Paramātmā, Prabhu, Puruṣottam, Bhagavān, Budhvavend, Bhūtend, Mahābāhu, Manmohana, Madhusūdana, Mādhava, Yādava, Yoga, Yugam, Yogeśvara, Vāmadeva, Śrī Śrī Bhagavān, Hṛṣīkeśa, O Hari, Hari Hari — the chanting of whose names removes sins. These are the names of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Candra Bhagavān. And in the Gītā, Arjuna too has many names: Guru Namban, Guru Chait, Guru Parir, Kuntī Putra, Kauṇṭeya, Uddhava, Dhanañjaya, Dhanurdhārī, Naraśreṣṭha, Nara, Parantapa, Pāṇḍu Putra, Pāṇḍava, Puruṣa, Vāgra, Puruṣa Chait, Bhārata, Bhārataśreṣṭha, Bhāratabhūṣaṇa, Mahābāhu, Rājan, Śrī Suṣeṇa, Śveta, Mahān, Phala, Guru, Viṣṇu, and Vijaya. These are the names of Arjuna. In the Gītā, the words spoken by Śrī Kṛṣṇa, the relationship, and Bhagavān are all mentioned. The Gītā also speaks of whatever is born, of Mātrā, and of Brahma. In it lies the right path to liberation; in it is the impermanent nature of pride, honor, and the ephemeral world. Part 3: Guru Pūrṇimā and the Bhagavad Gītā: A Discourse on Duty and Spiritual Completeness In the Hindi translation from the ancient devotee Śrī Sanjay Bhole, according to the yaptoransar, reaching the truthful one who holds the netra—Śrī Arjuna’s husband, Lord Madhusūdana—said: “Hey Arjuna, you have been given the right. To live in the state of sutta mithun, because neither Śrī prasod has come, nor sahar has come to give, nor kīrti has come to do. So, hey Arjuna, do not claim the right to live; it is not worthy for you. Instead, rise up for the war.” Then Śrī Arjuna said: “Hey Madhusūdana, I am a student in this land, and how will I fight with Droṇācārya, who is like a father? For both of them have not come to be worshipped in this land. Even after killing Hanumān and the Bhagavad Gītā, I consider viśvakant kalyān to be a kailā. “Kyāṅki rujiṣṭha sanayam vartor kāmru bhogā koī to bhogūṅgā, ho amlok yeh bhī ne jānte ki amar ilī kyā karnā śaitā hai, atvā yeh bhī ne jānte ki ham jīteṅge, hamko vey jīteṅge, ho urjit ko mār kar bhī ham jīnā bhī ne jāte, vey hī chatraṣṭ ke putra amar samne khaḍay hāṅ. Isle kaitha rupdosh karke upatthe dhyāna kese mohi chitwa? I ask you, whatever you need, whatever you have, whatever you have...” Arjun, Antaryāmī, Śrī Kṛṣṇa Candra Nānakānta Bhagavān ke bātī, of this Lord, I will purify myself completely before Śrī Govinda Bhagavān, isse sabhā īśvara kā chūpā gayā, uske prabhutva the Pārthavānśī Arjun, Dātarāj, Antaryāmī, Śrī Kṛṣṇa Candra Nānakānta Bhagavān. No, in both the scriptures, the one who is addressed as Arjuna is laughing. Therefore, He says: “O Arjuna, you are grieving for those who should not be grieved for, and you speak like the learned. The learned do not mourn for the departed, nor do they mourn for those who have not departed.” Toh kī ātmā nitya, isle śok kāna ayukta hai. This soul cannot be burnt, nor can fire burn it, nor can water wet it, nor can the air dry it, because the soul is pure, because the soul is pure, and the soul is pure, and the soul is pure. Nitya Saur Vyaprak Achar Likta Rainawala Ho Sanatanay Om. Śrī Paramātmā Namaḥ Karmukh Nāmak Jisthira Sādhyāye Prārambha Hindiyanwada. This Bhadra Arjuna has read that, “Hey Janārdana, if you don’t follow the rules of your karma, then why do you put me in such a terrible karma? And you are making my intellect miserable. That is why I have said one thing: the one with whom I get welfare, you cannot sacrifice your karma according to any disease.” Kal, śeḍat agar ātmā unati ke liye āge bāḍo, sukh śānti kā bandā hai tumme he. De Gyan Jyoti Bharati, Jan Bandhan Tarti, Sab Bhakt Milkar Prem Se Utaaro Aarti, Geeta Pado, Geeta Pado, Geeta Pado. Om Shanti, Shanti, Shanti. We are very fortunate. More people were expected to come, but due to Anbal Gopal’s words, we have to worship Swāmījī and take dīkṣā there as well. That is why we must go to Swamījī’s āśram. We have been occupied with this for the past two days. Today is Guru Pūrṇimā, a very auspicious day. You are very fortunate. You have done excellent work before. In this kind of satsaṅg, you are sitting and taking advantage of Pūrṇimā. What is the meaning of Guru and Pūrṇimā? The meaning of Guru is to make us attain knowledge through ignorance. What is the meaning of Pūrṇimā? In Pūrṇimā, it is said that just as the sun and the moon have the same shape, it is called pūrṇa. In pūrṇa, the second is called mā pūrṇimā. Both the sun and moon have the same shape in the morning and evening—this is called Pūrṇimā. And why is it celebrated in the month of Āṣāḍha? There are many Pūrṇimās: Aśravan, Bahādur, Asād, Kātī, Meksar, Phutma, Fāgan, Cait, Pasāg, Jit—there are twelve Pūrṇimās. So why Āṣāḍha? What I mean to say is that when we sow seeds in the fields, when we sow seeds in the rains, and when we sow in this Āṣāḍhīna, the fruits of the seeds grow a lot. In the same way, in the heart of the Guru Mahārāj and in the heart of the disciple, the seeds of knowledge that he sows grow a lot and spread a lot. We are very fortunate that Swami Mahātma Nanjī, who was the Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar of Param Pūjya Hindi Samrāṭ, his disciple is Swami Maheśvarānandjī, the Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar. He has played the drums throughout India and the whole world, making the great ones proud. Today, you are being promoted in 150 foreign countries. We are indeed fortunate. I live in Bombay a lot. Whenever Swamiji’s newspaper comes, I send him a message asking, “Swamiji, why did you appear in this paper?” He has come like this. There is much to say, yet we will not speak at length now. Our next program will be requested by our Swamiji, and he will explain it to you. Thank you very much. Since the time of Māta Jī’s pramblin, these two children have completed the 18th chapter of the Gītā. Jyoti Bharati, a disciple of Swamījī, has completed the 18th chapter of the Hindi Contrast. He has perfect memory of Sanskrit ślokas and promotes the Gītā throughout India. We live in Bombay, and he is ready to promote the Gītā there. Such small children are living the Gītā. All this is happening by the grace and blessings of Swāmījī. We are very thankful that you have come to meet us and gained the opportunity to absorb so much knowledge. Om Śānti, Śānti, Śānti. Keep the garland down. Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī, Deveśvara Mahādeva Kī, Dharma Samrāṭ, Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān Kī, Satya Sanātana Dharma Kī. You have just seen our two new Deepak Yuvāmaṇḍal: Jyoti Bhāratī and his younger brother Deepak Bhāratī. These two little Bāl Gopāl saints have done such a wonderful exercise by contesting the Gītā and explaining it to you all. Mahāprabhujī kī Karatā, Mahāprabhujī kī Karatā... They are the form of the Supreme Soul, and the same soul is the mixture of the soul and the non-soul. The soul and the non-soul is the mixture of the soul and the non-soul. The soul and the non-soul is the mixture of the soul and the non-soul. The soul and the non-soul... Non-soul is the mixture of the soul and the non-soul... The non-soul is the mixture of the soul and the non-soul... Non-soul is the mixture of the soul and the non-soul... Whether man or woman, knowledge, spirituality, and soul—there is no distinction between them. If they do good deeds, they are called dharma-souls, and if they do bad deeds, they are called pāpa-souls. In Sanskrit vyākaraṇa, pāpa means one who does not get a place in hell; in hell also they have to stand on a waiting list. But what is called blackmailing in English—that blackmailing is done by the conscious or subconscious mind of the earth. Your children abuse you, and that abuse will one day take the form of a curse: “O Papa, O Papatmā, you will not find a place even in hell.” He kevalam, he kevalam... Why do you call your father, who has done good deeds, your father? He has given birth to you as a human being. A father who has done good deeds—such a father will never hear his children say, “Bami, Papa.” Every Muslim child reads the Qur’ān and prays in the morning. Does your child read the Hanumān Chālīsā in the morning? Does your child read one chapter of the Gītā, which takes only 10–15 minutes? Kya āpka bachchā subhe ūṭh karke pāñch bār Gāyatrī kā mantra kartā hai? Instead, they know which actor is in which television cinema, who is the hero or heroine, and remember their names—but how many ṛṣis of justice do they know? I do not know. Inside the Gītā, there are Arjuna, Bhīma, the Pāṇḍavas, Duryodhana, the Gītā, Pitāmaha Bhīṣma, Draupadī, and others. Because the child who calls you a sinner—you also call him Pintu or Dintu. Joko voh thane kae papa thun kae ge tittu, vah, ae vegya, ae vegya paapi ne vey vegya, titta ne vegya, bitta ne vegya, Gītā. So why do we spoil our dharma saṁskṛti? Take a saṅkalpa that my child will call me only mātā pitā. Clap your hands; why have you let loose the pigeons? If you have Hindutva in you to become a father, and if he is truly your son, say, “I am your father, I am not your sinner.” What is the use of getting married then? Because Kṛṣṇa is known as Gītā, and the mother is known as the father. So teach the child to call the father and mother. Nowadays, it is said, “auntī” or any other “auntī”; if there is no auntī, then have tea. Puri Jī, Puri Jī,... Puri Jī. If our mother, daughter, and mother-in-law are connected, there will be peace and happiness in our society. Nowadays, there is only one word: Madam. There is no meaning of Madam. Madam says, “Do business.” Madam says, “Marry.” Madam says, “Cheat.” There is no connection among them. Our culture connects but does not break. So, Sajjanõ, see these little, tender children—what great practice they must have done. Thanks to their grandfather, Khemānand jī. He is very enterprising; he has shaped his life, as they say, standing on his own feet, by his blood and sweat, he made his way. You worked in Ahmedabad, inside the mill. He used to go to satsaṅg, serve Gurujī, read the Gītā, study books, practice Vedānta. He is a very good speaker, called Vedānta Keśarī. So, Kheemanandaji has taught these two small-eyed children so well that they will serve as a protective shield for our country and Sanātan Dharma in the future. Thank you very much for this. Oṃ Śānti, Śānti,... Śubh Rātri. Bholā Śrī Svāmījī, Viśvaguru, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Maheśvarānandajī, Mahārāj, Kī Namaparabdhepadayararamaadevar. Deep Narayan, Deep Narayan Bhagwan Ki Jai, Deep Narayan Bhagwan Ki, Deep Narayan Bhagwan Ki,... Swamiji Maheshwaranandaji Maharaj Ki, Chanchiri Bhi Bol Do. Now, Abhi Hum Lok French Bhāṣā, Italian Bhāṣā, German Bhāṣā, Hindi Bhāṣā, Marwāḍī Bhāṣā, Ādi Ādi Bhāṣāon Mein Guru Pūrṇimā Kī Mahimā Gān Kya Hai? My students all over the world, in at least 218 countries, are waiting for me to give them some blessings in the English language on Guru Pūrṇimā. So you sit quietly; those who want to go can get up and go. Those who want to sleep, go to the garden and sleep. It is raining cold; you will be happy. O blessed self, dear spiritual seekers, practitioners of spirituality and yoga and of their life, brothers and sisters around the world, this blessing is coming to you from the Holy Land, Bhārat, Jādan, Rājasthān. You have been listening to the Guru Pūrṇimā message first from our dear Swāmī Dr. Śāntījī in French and German. After that, you heard our dear sister Lakshmi from Pardwa, Italy, speaking in Italian. Then you heard these two young kids who spoke very nicely about the Bhagavad Gītā. Today is that day, today is that time, today is that satsaṅg which we were waiting for one year—means to celebrate, to experience, to witness the celebration of Guru Pūrṇimā. The meaning of Guru Pūrṇimā: Pūrṇa means completeness. Whatever comes from the complete is complete, and what remains is also complete. Similarly, that completeness, Pūrṇimā and Mā, means the mother—that cosmic mother, the universal mother, that cosmic consciousness, the Mūla Prakṛti, the Śakti, the universal mother, Ānanda, Ānanda Brahmāṇḍa Śāstra Sūrya. In that endless universe where there are thousands of sun systems, that Ānanda, that space is Mother, and that is Pūrṇa, that is completeness, and that’s why it’s called Pūrṇimā. The aim of the celebration of Guru Pūrṇimā is also to achieve completeness, to become one with the cosmic mother, to become one with the cosmic self, to realize the oneness that is called Brahman. Ekobrahma Duttinasthi—only the supreme reality, the supreme truth, the supreme—that is called Brahman. Where there is duality, what is changeable is not reality, and what is not changing, that is reality. The eternal, everlasting, that is the cosmic consciousness, that is the Purāṇa. Blessed are they who can be today with their master, with their Gurudev. Lucky are they, though they are not physically together, but in their thinking, in their feelings, in their meditation, in their sādhanās, they are with their Gurudeva, doing the Mānasik Pūjā today. And lost are they, unlucky are they, who do not know that and do not even know today’s Guru Pūrṇimā. They don’t know what their mantra is, they don’t even know where their Gurudeva is. They do not know still what is the Master, what is Guru Tattva, and what is Disciple Tattva. Right side from me, in a white dress, one Swāmījī is sitting here, Narasiṁhda Jī Mahārāj. Wonderfully, very nicely, he explained the two in one, and that’s called śiṣya or guru, the disciple and the master. In reality, there is no duality between them. Bodies are separate, too, but in reality, they are the one Ātmā in oneness. Nirmala Sādhu Kī Marī Helī. You should be in the company of that Sādhu who is Nirmala. Nirmala: mala means impurities, and Nirmala means purity. Those who have negative thinking, negative words, ego, jealousy, hate, conflict, and so on—that is the negative one. Nirmal is like pure, clean water. When you go to pure, clean water and you have a dirty body and dirty dress, you will clean that, and that water will give you the purification, the cleanness. Nirmala, so Saṅgat Kī Jai Nirmala Sādhurī Marī Helī—you should always accompany such a person who is Nirmala, who is pure, with pure thinking, pure behavior, pure thoughts, divine thoughts, divine actions; that’s very important. So Guru Pūrṇimā is that which gives you the divine light. My dear brothers and sisters, remain, stay, watch the webcast. The whole night there will be beautiful bhajans. You will listen to such bhajans which you have never heard before. And especially these are beautiful Rajasthani melody, Rajasthani bhajans. I can tell you that after some decades, these bhajans will disappear because all people are singing the film melodies, like cinema, like videos, like this and that. These melodies, these bhajans, very few people will be able to sing. Enjoy, enjoy. Bless you, and I will see you again. Wish you a happy, happy Guru Pūrṇimā, and bless you in the name of Om Śrī Alakh Purījī, Siddha Pīṭha Paramparā, Devādideva, Swayambhū, Deveśvara Mahādeva, Bhagavān Dīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī, and our Divine Holy Gurujī, His Holiness Swāmī Madhavānandajī Mahārāj, and many others. Satsaṅg, satsaṅg. Who will come? Who will speak a little about Guru Pūrṇimā? Okay, the Sādhvī Sāvitrī will come and speak. Deepa Niranjana Sabadhukaban Prabhudipa Niranjana Naisi Mantrase. Bring it here. Prabhu, Dīpa Nirañjana, Īśī Mantra Se. Mahāprabhujī Nirañjan Sabhā Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān. Now, in front of you, Slovenia, which was once part of a very big country named Yugoslavia, and that Yugoslavia was divided into about seven parts. One part is called Slovenia. They understand the language very well. Savitri knows Italian, German, English, Slovenian, and Karvishan. She doesn’t know anything else. Even then, she will say something or the other, so five minutes. Part 4: Guru Pūrṇimā Satsaṅga: Bhajans, Blessings, and Spiritual Teachings Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Śrī Devīśvara Mahādeva Kī Jaya, Dharma Samrāṭ Śrī Parama Svāmī Madhavānandajī Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān Kī Jaya, Viśvaguru Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Śrī Parama Svāmī Jīmeśvarānandajī Gurudeva Kī Jaya, Satya Sanātana Dharma Kī Jaya. We would like to come for one or two days as bhaktas, as students, as those who offer their sādhanās, their annual spiritual disciplines. And, of course, this is another day when we begin and set our new saṅkalpa for the coming year—that throughout the entire next year we will do what Guru Dev says, what Guru Vākya says. It is not only meditation, āsanas, prāṇāyāmas, but also in everyday life, in your relationships, at work, in your family; it is yoga in everyday life. We, who have come here on a physical level from different parts of the world, are actually walkers. On our way here to Jadan, we went through many ups and downs and arrived at the goal. Today, much has been said about the goal of Guru Pūrṇimā. Swamiji has just spoken about the fact that one of the goals is that, like a student and a teacher, they are one in the Paramātmā, although they are different bodies. And because of that, today I would like to wish everyone a happy, blessed Guru Pūrṇimā. We are here in Jadan. We are twice blessed that we are here, three times blessed that we are in the society of saints and Guru Devas, and that, in fact, it is raining. Thank you very much. That is one of the greatest joys here now. We are all very happy. I wish you abundant health—mental, physical, social, and spiritual—in the next year, that we really work every day, and that we come together again. So, Sādhvī Sāvitrī will continue to speak a little later. Now we will have some bhajan. Otherwise, people will grow restless. Okay, thank you. Yes, bhajan, bhajan gāne vāle, bhajan start karo. Yā to idhara jāo, bhaja, can they sit here and sing? Hāṁ? Vāta ṭhīk cinema koṇī jāi? Vāta cinema āī? Is okay for you that? Ācārya Gorakhnāth. Hello, those who want to take the prasāda should reach the paṇḍala as soon as possible, then the paṇḍala will be closed. Those who want to take the prasāda should reach the paṇḍal bhojanśālā immediately and take the prasāda. Mahāprabhujī kī Karatā Mahāprabhujī kī Karatā... It’s okay. It’s Guru Pūrṇimā’s day. And today, especially Indra Bhagavān’s day, has become so special. Indra Bhagavān is also with us, and Guru Mahārāj is also with us. And whoever is with us, many people are sleeping. This is not right. This is not right. When will we get this opportunity, this time? It is a big mistake to lose this time. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇī Bhagavān Kī Jai. This is not joy. The one whose efforts should be so strong, the devotee who is not sleeping, should also wake up. If he doesn’t wake up, who will talk to him? The crowd. Today the sun has not risen yet; it has risen slowly. First of all, I bow to all the devotees of Brahma Niṣṭha, Brahma Śrotri, Brahma Pūjanī, Mahārāj, Śrī Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, Maheśvarānandajī Mahārāj. Today, I bow to all the devotees of Satsaṅgī, Jasmātā, Bīrāj, and all the devotees of Haridaya Kamala. By the way, exactly one and a half to two years ago, I had composed eight or nine bhajans with the inspiration of Bāpujī. But after two days, the book will remain in the house. I will go out and visit the ṛṣi again and again for two days. Still, if I remember one or two bhajans with a broken foot, then I will say, understand that I have made them with the inspiration of Bāpujī, because without inspiration, without experience, the bhajans are not made. There are many poets in Kalduga today. I will tell you the beautiful poems that I have written. Guru Pūrṇimā, Guru Bhakta Vastāī, Kiśana Vare Vastāī, Ākatī Dhoon Baḍo Koī Tīmharā Nahī aura Bena Vastāī, Rakhī Dhoon Baḍo Koī Tīmharā Nahī aura, Guru Bhakta Vastāī Bāre Maino Rā Kīvḍā Pāpa Akram. Cita Mana Prabhu Ke Caraṇa Meṁ Ho Nā Cāhiye. Aba Ate Ānī Ninda Levo To Pāpa Dhope Kena Bāleka Chaḍī. Gurur Brahmā, Gurur Viṣṇu, Gurudevo Maheśvaraḥ, Gurur Sākṣāt Parabrahmaḥ, Tasmai Śrī Gurave Namaḥ. Akhaṇḍa Maṇḍalākāraṁ, Vyāptaṁ Yena Carācaraṁ, Tatpadaṁ Darśitaṁ Yena, Tasmai Śrī Gurave Namaḥ. Guru dharī dhora, dhora pakaḍa āve nahīṁ vo rejo, dhora ro, rejo dhora ro, dhora pakaḍa āve nahīṁ vo rejo, dhora ro. He Manjura? Guru Bhaktāoṁ Āposaba? He Manjura? Sabhī Gāvālā? No, sing for me. I am very busy. One mic, Bābajī, one mic and... Sing with both hands. Sing with both hands. No, this is Sabhī Bhakta Gāvālā. It is a very simple song, a simple thing, but its meaning and feeling are very profound. Mere Guru Deva Ko Vahara Vahara Vandanā, Mere Guru Deva Ko Vahara Vandanā. Bāpa Jhaminī Āvāra Saba Jagana Vānī Cī, Guru Mukhī Hona. Aura lāja ābī jāve tau aṅkiyā maṇḍa kara lenī. Agara lare rehāṅ to aparo ghāṭo pate lare, lerā pate lare, lare. And more forcefully, and clap your hands, because clap your hands and say the words together. It would be great if you could raise your hands, but if you join your hands and bow down, it would be great if you could say ‘Jai’. Some people get up in the middle of the night, but no one wakes up in the middle of the night. If you stay awake for one or two days, you will wake up in the middle of the night for a year or two. Some people don’t wake up in the middle of the night, no matter what you do. If Brahmājī doesn’t come on his own, then what is he doing? He is doing this for his own good. One small bhajan in this way, and you can sing along with this bhajan. It is a very beautiful speech, and there is nāman in it, and Gurū Mahārāj’s yaśa kīrti is also there. And if we do namana, yaśa, kīrti, and pray from here, then only there is bliss, and only then we can be good, and we cannot be good like this. Anubhavīnāra jāna lagnā hai gyāna ujāro sundara koī kā jāna sake eka prema bhakti ko pāntā hī nyāro sundara koī kā jāna sake hai Gokula gāma ko gailo hī nyāro Gokula gāma ko gailo hī nyāro. The way to the Lord’s house is different from all the other ways. The Lord is in Ghaṭagaṭ. There is no such place in the book of Īśvara or Nimaṣa, in Kaṅkaṇā. And yet He does not take any side. He is impartial. Sundara Dāsa wrote a very beautiful thing. Pakṣa apakṣa na lakṣa alakṣa na dakṣa adakṣa na tūla na bhāro... Vāta Avatāra Kaṁsa. Prema Bhakti is the most important thing. First thing in the morning, I do not say, ‘I am not a Rākṣasa, I am not a Pāṇḍava, I am not a Kulagāra.’ There is no reason for casteism. There is no reason for small and big. There is no reason for big and small. Because if there is casteism, then there is no Śivrī. And what is his form? If someone sees a traveler in the dark, then they get scared. But if he is a sage, a monk, or a renunciate, then he gets scared. Karatā Ute To Bhagavān, Pahalī Nī Gyāna Pahalī Gayā, Śivrī Re Kī Yungo Premā Bhakti Hī aura Ute Jāna Jūtā Bora Khāyā To Voha Premā Āja Āpama Ho Nā Cāhiye. Guru Brahmā, Guru Viṣṇu, Guru Ko Āpa Cāhī Viṣṇu Mānā Cāhiye, Śaṅkara Mānā Cāhiye. Rāma Avatāra mānalo, Kṛṣṇa Avatāra mānalo, ākara koī viveka dastī the dekhe to mahāpuruṣa jitane bhī hai, o āja bhī Kṛṣṇa ke avatārī. Eka Gokulagāma Ko Gehalo Inyāro. So this is different from the way it is. It is difficult, it is difficult. So what should be done to unite everyone? Their feelings, their minds, their consciousnesses should be cut. Who can cross? Guru Mahārāja, so what should we do for Guru Mahārāja? We should be helpless. Brahmanandajī has written a very beautiful thing. Speak with love of Śrī Satgurujī Mahārāj. Speak with love of Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān. Speak with love of Śrī Satya Sanātana Dharma. Now, I would like to pray to all the devotees. Ke Bābajī, āpa Śrī Mukha se Pravacana pharamāo, aura mauna sabhā ko lābhavanta karo. Pāpiyo, maiṁ eka nī do kāle ho. Hello! Bhajjī’s orders are: one bhajan, one or two more, and you forget the name. If you look at it, everything is there. He says, ‘Pāpiyo,’ which means there is only the brain. In reality, there is no separation without the brain. If there is no separation, then there is no jñāna, and if there is no jñāna, then there is no mokṣa. In the beginning, there is only the brain. How much suffering should there be to meet the Guru? How much liberation should there be? Just like there is no one who is sick who can forget his illness and pain for a minute. He can forget, so much pain should be there, and it always comes that one day or two days or a month, not a day, not a day... Piyo, Piyo,... Piyo. Mīrā bāī dī kyo, arī papiyā tuma pīva pīva mata bola, jo koī sunelā piyārī piyārī, jine vastame biraha lagodī hai jo guru mukhā hai, to ghāyala vājyārī, ae bātāṁ durbala vājyārī, jo ghāyalī ghāṭa ghāyalī jhāne. Thārā bhola baḍā pyārā, śabda baḍo sundara hai. Agara tuma pīva pīva keve, nā māro pīva mila jāve. To me thāne nyāla kartūṁ, śāṅca maṇḍau śobha ne re. Tuma hai māre siro, taḍa papiyā pīva pīva mata bola hai. Aidī taḍapa honī cāhiye manameṁ, aura aido brev jinoi tu beraga utpana ve. Nīto beraṅga utpana ve ko, nīyo beraṅga to ve āpo. Āja gharoṁ ravana hai. And now, if there is feeling, love, and attachment, if there is yearning, then you will attain God, or else it will be difficult. In the next place, Riyāṭhoḍa, Rāṭhoḍa, some ḍhokarī. If your son comes to you, tell him, ‘Why did you leave him? He is a bad person.’ He will be a loafer. If you take Rs. 500,000 daily from home, he will come to you to do the household chores. And he will come to you to do the household chores. The ḍhokarī will come to you and say, Mahāprabhujī kī Karatā Mahāprabhujī kī Karatā... Purījī, Purījī... And no, it is not the mind that wanders, it is the ego that wanders. ‘Śānta Brahma vilasī nṛpa māna kahe’—if such peace is attained, the noose of the eighty-four (the cycle of rebirth) is broken. Recognize the sound, the melody, the resonance. You become like a spinning top. If such peace is attained, then, O Guru, the ocean of worldly existence becomes a mere necklace of pearls. Day by day... Hai Jhonro Bhāga, Ve Japāhe Dīna Aura Rāta, Japāhe Dīna Aura Rāta, Kamāī Lāga Ācī, Yā To Mukta Hojā Vāsī, Yā Mīna Kaḍe Milasī Pācī, Baḍe Gharā Meṁ Janama Sī, Jaune Ghana Jhoḍasī Āṭa, Sāgaramā Sānsāra Meṁ Mālā Motī Bāta. Bhanyāto Rāma Bhaṇa, O Rāṇe Rāma Bhaṇa. Pīvadhī parṇa basya pradeśon, kisavidh dhanu manadhīr, pīvadhī parṇa basya pradeśon. So, where is that land? Where there is no sky, no sun, and there is no light, there is only that land. That is where it is. Āyā Pīvā Jīva Sukha Pāyā Citta Mana Dhārī Dī. Iśka Eśka Hai, Koī Augara Panta Uṭhāvata Hai, Koī Mantra Agaura Jape Niśvāsara Pāvana Chūṭā Lāgāvata Hai, Koī Pūdhata Hai Narapahana Ko, Koī Dhalara Saṅkha Bajāvata Hai, Milakheṁtā Tā Apanī aura Sabhī Prabrahma Ko Bheda Na Pāvata Hai, Śānta Amiśaṁ Nitya Avatārī. And why do we take Nitya Avatārī? To bring about the well-being of the infinite beings, this is where Śānta Amiśaṁ is the Paramārthī Taravara Saravara Santa Dhana. Choṭo Barasai Mehe Paramāra Tare Kāraṇai Tāro Indharī Hai. Māmabhāgra Bhālā Ḍabadehī Dharī Jagjīvai Kāraṇale Avatāra Maṅgala Pāra Karā Bhau Sāgra Tārā Gaṇeśa Sukiyā Sukiyā Rā. Eka śabada Gurudeva kā sī, which saint is there in our Māravāḍa? And he is there. Still, we do not know. This is written by Khariyā Rastana, Maṅgalagirījī Mahārāj, Khariyā Mīṭhā Mahārāj. This is written by Gaṇeśagirījī Mahārāj: Mamābhagya Bhāla Ḍabadehī Dharījā Gaḍeevā Ikarnā Leha Avatāra Maṅgalapāra Karabho Sāgāra Tāra Gaṇeśa Kiyā Sukyārā. Aye, eka śabda Gurudeva kāre jāna kā maulāda tūla, śabda śabda parivāra duma koṭi brahmāṇḍa kā maula. India is already a Viśvaguru, and today is also a Viśvaguru. The most important thing is that all the foreign devotees are listening to the dhyāna and love of the Tāṭakī Lagāna, and we are taking a lot of love and sleep, we have seen the culture, and these people have achieved it. They have united the Jīva BrahmāṚī, they have attained Mokṣa, and we will remain like this. We are very fortunate that this Mahāpuruṣa, this Viśvaguru, in Māravāḍa, we have such a big part, even then, we are not aware of it. This means, Jaharalāla Janmarā has written a little bit of Sāgaramadhāzī. He says, ‘Santa Sāgarama, how is your bhajan?’ Lare lāgī pāpanī layā daṅgane doī, layā daṅgane doī isī kuna kuna re bhāī? Yā to bhāṭana bhāpaḍī yā thārī nindrā maiṁ, ina donoṁ re bīca meṁ diyo zamāro khoja. He says, ‘Santa Sāgarama, how is your bhajan?’ He says, ‘Santa Sāgarama, this bhajan kī karadī ghaṭī, ādhā ubā pāpa kyā dharalā? Ātmā lambī laṭī, lambī laṭī, ātmā āge baḍhane de nāye. Jai Deve, āge ne pāmaḍo to de gā, Badare Deve. Guḍire māī kamāi kinī, māṭī māṭī keve kamāi kinī, māṭī keve. Santa Sarakāra hai, bhajana kī karadī rātī.’ Prema se Bolo Sadgurujī Mahārāj Kī, Bolo Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī, Bolo Śrī Maheśvarānandajī Mahārāj Kī, Bolo Śakti Sanātana Dharma Kī. Some say Jai, but others say Nindrā, Ghāmiḍa. Now, Bābajī, I have a prayer for you. Please recite it and tell me the way. What is the time now? We have gone to 217 countries. Life is still going on. It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter. The songs are very good. Very good songs. It doesn’t matter. All the songs of the saints are very good. I will just take 5-10 minutes, and then you will sing. Dīpa Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī. Good evening and good morning. Good evening and good morning. In India, in Australia, in Asia, it is good morning already. And in other parts of the world, it is good evening. As you have listened, you have seen, you have heard many beautiful bhajans. All as a glory of Gurudeva, the glory of the Guru Pūrṇimā. Many bhajans’ meanings, you know. Bhajans where there is teaching, questions, answers, spirituality, and the name of the Guru. Such a satsaṅga is the inspiration in life. There are different kinds of souls, different kinds of seekers. For some, the singing of spiritual songs, bhajans, is boring. Some like it for a while, and then it disappears. And some like it so much that they become one with that environment. Doesn’t matter what it is, they remain, they listen. Part 5: The Unending Thirst for Divine Love: Satsaṅg and Guru Pūrṇimā They feel in their heart the thirst for divine love and wisdom. The source of that divine love is with God. As much as you receive, the more you ask for. There is never an end. If there is an end, then it means you lost the path. The thread is broken, and your progress is stopped. There were a few bhajans we sang this evening which you heard before, and those bhajans are known as Virahānī. Virahānī means the burning desires, constantly burning desires for God-realization or the fulfillment of that inner longing. A seeker, an aspirant, a practitioner, or a spiritual soul, no matter the time, day or night, if they hear the name of God or Gurudev, they become completely aware, alert, and conscious. Each spiritual thought, spiritual word, or music is like drops of rain on drying crops. Such a person is a saint, a holy person. Does it matter if they are leading a family life, a profession, or just preaching? It’s not a physical matter. It is very subtle, very divine, and beyond our imagination. There is nothing beyond our explanation; it is indescribable. Such is all, coming to satsaṅgs and spending time, even the whole night. There is no other way. It is only one way. That is satsaṅg. As Gandhijī said, there is no way to peace. Peace is the way. Similarly, there is no way to satsaṅg. Satsaṅg is the way. Only those who understand who is in love, what love is, understand. Only those who understand who is hurt by the bullet or the arrow, others do not. That pain is indescribable. Similarly, that spiritual longing, the pain of spiritual longing, is also indescribable. No one understands, and no one can support you. It’s like an ill person, day and night, waiting for the doctor. Only because the ill person knows that the remedy which the doctor will give is the way to become healthy. And that remedy is spirituality. It doesn’t matter from which spiritual saint the bhajan is; that doesn’t matter. It should be bhajan, it should be the meaning, it should be spiritual. Then the spirit has a highway; it’s a one-way street. As soon as you meet kusaṅga, kusaṅga can be with some person, or thinking, or speaking, or reading, and so on. Be sure that always the kusaṅga will have negative and painful results. That will have a result of destruction. Loss of time, and again the soul will suffer. The satsaṅg, which has a very happy, very pleasurable, very divine result. It can be with many people, with one person, or through reading or thinking. It is said, in four Vedas and six philosophies—India has six philosophies. The four Vedas and six philosophies, if you compare them all together, only two things are written. And these two things, finally, the essence, the calculation is only two: Suk diya sukho the, if you give pleasure and happiness to others, you will get pleasure and happiness. Duk diya sukho the, if you give the troubles, then you will get back the troubles. The choice is yours, and the options are there. Therefore, we shall give sukha, the pleasure. If you can’t dry the tears, don’t become the cause of the tears. If you can’t do good things, don’t do bad things. So it is the sense of satsaṅg where the human qualities are developed, the human aim is realized, and what we call self-realization. So, Guru Pūrṇimā is the beginning of spiritual development for the aspirants. Like in the material world, you have a financial year, a month. On the last date of that financial month, you have to give all your accounts. Similarly, for the spiritual aspirant, for disciples, Guru Pūrṇimā is the final, where you have to give accounts of your spirituality. Gain or loss, you have to present it to your Gurudev on Guru Pūrṇimā. And you have to begin further to continue your spirituality, your business. So, dear brothers and sisters around the world, I wish you a very happy Divine Guru Pūrṇimā. I pray to Mahāprabhujī, Gurujī and Devpurījī to bless you, that day by day your spirituality grows. So remember, only satsaṅg is the way. And keep in your mind always the satsaṅg. This is a spiritual lecture about Yoga in the Indian tradition. Bhulli Pujyā Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī, Paramahaṁsa Maheśvarānandajī Mahārāj Kī, Śrī Dīp Dayāl Bhagavān Kī, Śrī Satguru Dev Kī Pūjane Gurujī Mahārāj Ke Caraṇārvind Ek Bhajan Ke Prastuti Āpkī Caraṇam Meṁ Samarpit Karuṁ Savī Bhaktoṁ Se.
