Morning hours are golden hours

The purpose of human life is to achieve the highest spiritual goal. A river of divine blessings flows continuously. The capacity to receive it depends on the heart's spiritual readiness. One must collect and preserve this essence throughout life. Spirituality transcends all religions; it is the direct path to the divine. Life is more than mundane routines and physical pursuits. Time is uncertain, so one must diligently seek self-realization. Practice is essential to awaken dormant divine qualities within.

The foundational practice begins with morning discipline. Perform Agni Sāra Kriyā on an empty stomach to purify the digestive fire. Practice correct āsanas with proper breath coordination, not merely for physical form. Follow systematic prāṇāyāma under guidance to avoid harm. Meditation requires a Guru Mantra as one's spiritual passport. Without it, practice is like a body without a soul. Dedicate the morning hours to these practices for a balanced and peaceful life.

"The flowing of the divine river of blessings, the divine river of love and spirituality, it’s not only a river, but it’s an ocean."

"Spirituality is that which you cannot measure, but it is endless."

Part 1: The River of Blessings and the Purpose of Human Life Brahmānandam parama sukhadam kevalam jñānam uratim, Dvandātītam gaganasadṛśam tasmāsyādi lakṣam, Ekam nityam vimalāchalam sarvādhiṣākṣibhūtam, Bhavātītam triguṇarahitam satgurutam namāmyaham. Oṃ śāntiḥ śāntiḥ... Deep Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī, Dev Purīśa Mahādeva Kī Jaya, Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandjī Gurudeva Kī Jaya, Satya Sanātana Dharma Kī Jaya. Good evening, dear brothers and sisters, spiritual seekers, practitioners of yoga and their life, or any other spiritual path. Here and there, the blessing is coming to you from Holy Bhārat, Jāḍaṅ, Rājasthān, India. Welcome, all of you. It was a great blessing to be with you, at least through the webcast this last month. Now, more or less, my journey begins again. I will try from time to time to send you messages through the webcast, Skype, emails, or SMS. The aim of human life, the purpose of human life, the birth of human life, the divine will of God to give us human life, the time on this planet as a human and working as a human and to achieve the highest goal in human life, for which God has sent us all on this planet. At the same time, many devotees were here during the divine period of Guru Pūrṇimā, and you were also blessed to have the opportunity to take part in the final ceremonies of our Holy Mother. There is a story that a river is flowing, with very nice, clean water, drinking quality, coming from high in the mountains, crystal clear water, and a few people went to get the water. They were thirsty too and would like to bring water back to their home. One had a ten-liter capacity bottle or can, so that one could take ten liters with it. One had about 25 liters, so one could take 25 liters. Another one had only a one-liter capacity water bottle, and took only one bottle, just one liter. And one had only one glass, a quarter liter, so they took the one glass of water. And one had nothing, so couldn’t take anything. Now, this means that the flowing of the divine river of blessings, the divine river of love and spirituality, it’s not only a river, but it’s an ocean. All of you came here, and now the time has come for you to go back to your different destinations. Now, it depends on how much capacity your viveka has and the capacity of your heart, how much spiritual love or spirituality you will take with you. 25 liters, 20 liters, 10 liters, 1 liter, 1 glass, or nothing. And how much will you be able to bring home? On the way, there are many situations where you may lose that water. So it depends on you how much you will be able to keep this. How much you have collected during the whole year, that spirituality, Purījī, Purījī... That effect or influence on the human body, human mind, human intellect, the human soul, and the ātmā. Therefore, spirituality must be, and spirituality must not be only for a particular religion. It does not matter which kind of religion you practice or which you do not. Spirituality is above all that, and religion is a way to spirituality. Spirituality says there is no way to religion; it is only spirituality which can keep you in the heart of the divine cosmic light, what we call religion. Doesn’t matter which, every religion is a good religion. Whatever you practice is good, but it should be done with body, heart, and soul. That’s very important. With the body, mind, and soul, you have to be one with it. So there is spirituality and speciality in the scientific system, the science of yoga and daily life, which encompasses the physical, mental, social, and spiritual, as well as self-realization. These practices should be done step by step, as has been guided. If you do not practice with that kind of feeling, of course you will get some kind of benefit, but not that which you deserve. It’s not what you had as the aim of human life. Think over what you will take with you when you go from here. What will be counted in your life in being a human on this planet? What kind of spiritual power, what richness have you collected? Otherwise, you lead a little kind of different life: eating, sleeping, wearing different dresses, following the fashions, and that’s all. Earn your bread and butter, drive the car, that’s not all. There is something more than that. And for that we have to work very hard, very hard. You never know when life will be taken away from you again. You never know. Do not think that you are still very young and you have a lot of time. No, no, no. Even the younger one can die quickly. You know, now there is a social disease that is called cancer. Because of the lot of pollution, because of the way of living, the unnatural way of living, because of the kuṣaṅga, because of always bombarding your brain with negativities and negative thoughts, that destroys you and destroys others. Therefore, it is very important that we follow and spend time with nature, in peace, and think about why God has sent you here. What does it mean for you to be a human? How thankful you are to God that you are a human. What is the purpose of human life? And what are human qualities? Which human qualities are dormant in your consciousness? Unconscious, subconscious, conscious, higher conscious, superconscious, and cosmic consciousness. How to penetrate this consciousness through all the levels of consciousness in this universe? All has been given to you. All is dormant energies in your chakras: Mūlādhāra, Tikal, Sahasrāra. And also, there are many other subtle chakras which have very important functions in your body and in your mind. God has given nothing in the body which is not necessary. Mother Nature had been thinking so beautifully. Everything that Mother Nature has given to you is very precious and very important for this life. And therefore, you have to take care of this. Do not blame others. Don’t cry that someone made you unhappy. No, you should be depending on thyself. You should follow that divine path of the master, the Gurudev, which he showed you. Do not miss that path; otherwise, you will be lost again in nothingness. You will just arrive in the bushy, thorny jungle where the stones, the stony path, the thorny, bushy, and very complicated path of this life of charāsī, 8.4 million different creatures, life is not so comfortable and happy. If you think the bird’s life is good, that they can fly from one border to another border without a passport, no, no... no. The birds know what their life means; day and night, they are in danger. You think fish is happy just free in the ocean and swimming? No, no, no. Every fish, from small to the big shark, is living in danger. Because the humans and other creatures, it is very hot today, can I have this fan in front of me? Because it is said in nature, "Jīva jīva bhakṣate," life will eat life, life will eat life. So everyone is an enemy to others, but the most terrible thing is when the same race of life begins to eat the same race of life. And so now, though we know that humans are very clever, very good creatures, humans are against humans. Humans are against humans, and that is why on the planet, humans are creating so many troubles, so that humans themselves cannot live peacefully and do not let others live peacefully. In this all troublesome time, in this all troublous time, in all this conflict which is creating the wars, fighting within themselves and in others, there is only one way, yoga. Practice yoga in daily life. Practice the meditations. Forget everything. Feel with thyself how you feel and what is your aim. Whatever it is, very soon you will lose everything. Nothing will help you. All those who are very nice to you, but how long? How long? You come to know someone, you fall in love, and you love that person, and you are happy; the other is happy. But after some days, or months, or years, that person may leave you, or you leave that person. Then you are crying; you think the most terrible person is this one. Therefore, do not depend, do not be attached. Love thyself to love God. Realize thyself to realize God. Feel oneness with thyself to feel the oneness with God. And that is through the practice of your yoga and dharma. So, how should we lead our practical life as a yogī? That is today a little bit of instruction for everyone, but I will see what these boys are doing. They give me a hard time to sweat here. I am not sweating because I am nervous, no. I am not sweating because I am scared, no. It is a lot of humidity today in the air. Well, many people around the world are practicing yoga, and different kinds of yoga, and many think this is the yoga, which is maybe not a yoga exercise. You find a very beautiful piece of glass, it has a cut of a diamond, and you find it and take it. You say, "Oh, it’s a beautiful cut of a diamond, it must be a diamond." You preserve it, you take it with you, and then you bring to the master the expertise of the stones, and he will look at you and smile, and throw it away. You say, "No, no, it’s a diamond." He said, "No, it’s a piece of glass." Then you go and find some very nice note of a thousand or five hundred euros. And you said, "Oh, I found 5,100 euros." You go to the bank, and the bank cashier will say, "Sorry, I have to inform the police. It’s wrong money." You thought it was real money, but it’s wrong; it’s fake money. So, similarly, many times you are practicing the things which are not the first-hand wisdom of those ṛṣis. Therefore, thanks to God for this modern technology, that we can see through the webcast and for different things to get the right information. Of course, there are both. Always there is a parallel, negative and positive, having the competition. Āsurī Śakti and Devī Śakti, they are all the time having competitions. It is a marathon of the competition, like in the Olympics, you know. Everyone would like to be the winner. There are many negative people who want to show themselves that they are correct, that they are right, and that what they are doing is right. But you know, God is smiling, "How stupid is that person?" So, we should know for what the great saints, the ṛṣis, yogīs you may call, created this science of yoga for the well-being of humanity to protect the entire planet. Unfortunately, many took yoga as a fashion, and as a means for beauty and a good figure. But how long will you have a good figure? How long? Let’s say you are only 35 years old, and every day you are measuring the centimeters of your belly, your hips, and your shoulders, and you think you are very happy. Then you have an accident and hurry home. What was the use of that? Will this measurement of your figure go? How long will you figure your figure? Therefore, spirituality is that which you cannot measure, but it is endless. So, how to begin the day, or how to begin to practice yoga? You would like to do it, but you need that kind of yoga teacher. You know, around the world there are thousands of Yoga in Daily Life teachers. They have made their existence in life. Many have received this wisdom in different parts of the world, and they are living from it and teaching it. Yes, very good. Because wisdom is given to give further. So, let’s say first we follow one principle. Early to bed, early to rise, makes cement, healthy, wealthy, and if you practice yoga, then wise. Okay? Get up in the morning before sunrise and dedicate your time for one and a half or two hours to practicing your yoga. You get up, finish your bathroom, toilet, brush your teeth, and wash. And in the bathroom already, when it is good air, otherwise come to the fresh room or veranda and make for 2-3 minutes your Agni Sāra Kriyā. In the books "Agni Sāra Kriyā in Yoga and Daily Life," Agni Sāra Kriyā is very systematically described as a movement with the stomach. That will activate your digestive system, that will control your blood circulation, that will awaken your digestive fire, that will help to balance and activate your pancreas, that will help with your blood pressure and heartbeats, that will give you freshness. And it will remove your tiredness and laziness. Therefore, Agni Śarkriyā, Agni means the fire, Śark means to purify the digestive fire. Many diseases begin with intense time because we do not eat proper things, or we eat those things which we cannot properly digest. Properly digest means that through our digestion, all nutrition, what is in that food, the body observes everything. Accepted by that body through the five prāṇas and five upaprāṇas. So the Agnisāra Kriyā is a part of Haṭha Yoga Kriyā. Hatha Yoga Kriyas: there is Nauli, but before the Nauli, you have to go through Agniśāra Kriya. So, the Nauli: the Agniśāra Kṛiyā is a first step before practicing or learning Nauli, to train the stomach muscles. Agniśāra Kṛiyā is a blessing, and it is said those who practice Agniśāra Kṛiyā every morning can have a prevention against the cancer and the good eye vision. Agnīśār Kṛiyā should be done on an empty stomach, with at least a five- to six-hour interval between your meal and Agnīśār Kṛiyā. Therefore, morning is good. In the night, when we sleep, our digestive function also slows down. So the Agniśār Kriyā is awakening again the digestive system. During the day, mostly what we are doing is moving our mouth. Drinking, eating, drinking, eating, swallowing, drinking, eating, drinking, eating, swallowing. Thanks to God that God has made a system in the body that you have to sleep. So that the body has time to digest everything. Like a young mother, when the baby is sleeping, then the mother has time to work in the kitchen or whatever it is. But there are some people who, even at night while sleeping, are eating and dreaming of food. Or while sleeping, they are moving their mouth like this. You know, they are still, but thanks to God, there is nothing going in. That’s only the jaw moving, and maybe the tongue. But the body had time to digest everything. If God had not given sleep to these creatures on this planet, even the trees are sleeping. Then all will be crazy, and human, mostly crazy, will be human: depressions, aggressive, and what not. So, to relax our brain and give the brain time to digest all the impressions during the day, what you have received from different views, different hearing, and so on and so on. So when we sleep, everything is digested by this. Then you wake up with fresh thoughts, good things, and good concentration. Similarly, then after Agnisāra Kriyā, when you wake up, the digestion begins to function, and you have a good appetite for what we call breakfast. Part 2: The Foundation of a Yogic Day: Discipline, Practice, and Mantra You fast the whole night, and now you break that fast. That is why it is called breakfast. But when you have a breakfast and then it is only called lunch or brunch or dinner, there is no "break." Because you didn't give the break. After breakfast you have coffee, after coffee you have something to bite, then you are taking chewing gum, and then you are going somewhere and having something in the mouth—chocolate. Then again, you have some biscuit and cake, and then some nuts, and then some cherry, and then you have the plums, and what not. All the time, like goats, we are moving our jaw. So the whole night you were fasting, and now you break your fast. That’s called breakfast. But in Sanskrit and in Indian language, we call it Alpāhāra. Alpāhāra, little bhojana. So, Kaleva, you know, that now you are sleeping, and now you should swallow something: Agniśāra Kriyā. Atha Yoga Anuśāsanam. Yoga begins, and success in the yoga is through anuśāsan. And anuśāsan means discipline. If you practice for three or four days and then you don’t do it, and then you practice again for one week and then say, "Today I am late, I have to go to the office quickly," it is laziness. Because Agniśāra Kriyā takes only three minutes. And three minutes time, you have definitely more than enough. You go to work, and you are waiting for the bus, and the bus just went away from in front of your face or nose. Now the second bus comes in 15 minutes. You are waiting and waiting, you know, 15 minutes, you are lost. So, practice Agniśāra Kriyā for your good health, concentration, peace of mind, and for the prevention against many diseases. Take three minutes to practice Agniśāra Kriyā. Also, in the bathroom, it takes three or four minutes to practice Jala Neti, the cleaning of the nose with lukewarm water and a little salt inside, using a special water pot that we call a Neti Lota. A special pot designed to clean the nose is something beautiful and very great. These two things, when you practice neti, will help you to keep your nasal spaces and sinuses clean, and also act as purificants for the eyes. The tear channels, especially, have a great effect when you do the neti. Warm water flows through; it’s like a gentle massage. So, these two exercises in the bathroom: neti and Agniśāra Kriyā. You come into the fresh air and do Tāḍāsana. You walk out of your bathroom with Tāḍāsana, stretching yourself like this, and then walking on your toes and coming to your yoga mat, and then you begin to practice your āsanas. Now, in yoga, physical movements are of three types. One is called dynamic movements, that’s called body warming exercises, a few minutes. Then, after dynamic movements and stretching, also only a few minutes. And then you come to the postures, āsanas. It’s not about how many you should do, but how correctly you are doing them. May you do only five or six postures, asanas, that’s enough. But very systematically, take time and read in your Yoga in Daily Life book: "Aha, Paścimottānāsana, what is this? Aha, stretching the back, how?" Aha, technique, sit with straight legs, where? On the ground, yeah. Sit with straight legs. You will stretch on your chair? That is not okay. And then, hands on the thighs. How? Like this? No, like this. Do that? No. Like this. And now, legs together. Don’t make it like that. Legs should not be apart. Legs should be straight. Knees should be stretched completely. Aha, I see. Otherwise, you can sit like this. No, you have to stretch your knees completely. Yes. Yoga in Daily Life book, Paścimottānāsana technique, but how? Breath, oh, what is this? How should you breathe during the exercise? Aha, this I did not know. That’s why I didn’t get the benefit of my exercise. So, breath, body, and movement should be combined together. All these yoga teachers in the schools, and here you will see even in India, they are doing 99.5% wrong. I am so sorry for school children, and I am so sorry for so-called PTI, Physical Training Instructors. What they are doing is not good. They do not practice according to those great wise people, yogīs. Either you practice yoga through a perfect yoga teacher, or in your practice of yoga, you should be a physiotherapist. All the PTIs in the schools, what you call them, physical training instructors, must learn physiotherapy. And when they learn physiotherapy, they have to learn anatomy completely. And when they learn anatomy—the skin, the ligaments, the tissues, the muscles, the nerves, and the joints—then these PTIs will know which exercise can harm the students or practitioners if they just, on the first day, do this Paścimottānāsana or the Cakrāsana or whatever they always call. I am so sorry for the children when they saw, on the 26th of January and 15th of August, the exercise demonstrations by so-called yoga teachers. I have always said, I can’t see how a person who did not learn exactly how the dentists are working can sit in the street and call you, saying they will make you new teeth. And then they take the pliers and they pull your teeth out with the hammer. Oh God, our Dr. Shanti said, "Oh God." So, a doctor who studies medicine for six years, then specializes in dental technique, practices dental technique, and gains experience in the hospital, works very carefully and nicely. Or someone who is sitting with an uncle who is working on the street and having different dentures to put in, ah, this is not good for you. Purījī, Purījī... So, this problem in the world, the so-called not being trained properly as a yoga teacher, who gets a certificate as a yoga teacher in 15 days, is like the blind leading the blind. And therefore, it doesn’t matter where you are. Please, you can even have a distance course for Yoga in Daily Life, and you will learn a very perfect way of yoga teachings. So, a yoga teacher should be like a perfect physiotherapist. In the schools, they should send all the PTIs to physiotherapy, learning, plus completely the anatomies. And every second year, they must have an examination of the PTIs, to see if they know everything or if they’ve forgotten. That’s it. For example, in every police force, every policeman has to run every day and go jogging. And our policemen, who are in the seva here, hardly get up from their bed, go to eat, and again go to bed. So, they are in the police training, you know, here they are the laziest. And our superintendent of police, the SP, is always angry with them. "Run, training, run!" But, yes, when the boss comes, then they just stretch their hands like this. But how long? Two seconds. Then it’s like that. So, practice, practice abhyāsa, abhyāsa kvante, abhyāsa. So, then you practice what you call the dynamical movement. What is that? If you bend forward slowly, then you should bend backward. That’s the dynamo going in a different way. And then you stretch slowly, that far only your body allows; you should not feel pain. And after that stretching, then you go that far and hold your posture, the āsanas. Estherium, kāya estherium, sukham āsanas, where you feel happy, relaxed, and the body is comfortable. That posture will help you. That is yoga. At the same time, you support your body with the breath. Three kinds of breath: recaka, pūraka, and kumbhaka. Suppose that you have to lift a 20 kg suitcase to put it up. What will you do? You will inhale, automatically hold the breath, and you put up. So, now second, you exhale, and now lift the 20 kilos—you can’t lift. So how much energy, power has the air, the breath? Immediately, all the muscles and tissues and ligaments are receiving the power. You see the trailer, the tanker, the trucks, how many tons of load they have, but everything is weird with the air in the tires. So, like that, if all the air goes out, this engine has no power, no more capacity to pull this truck. And the result will be that all the roads will be destroyed in no time. What is yoga, ji? Similarly, when you practice wrong yoga, you destroy more of your health than you gain. And therefore, Yoga in Daily Life is so carefully designed and has given to the millions of people such a training that they are happy and gaining the benefit, day and night, physical, mental, social, and spiritual benefit. After this, so, Paścimottānāsana, for example, slowly you raise the hands, and what your PTI in the school, another yoga teacher said, "Hands up, one, hands down, two," and what about breath? Nothing, this. A person will damage their spine, no problem. Why? It is their problem. What to do? Go to a doctor, that’s all. This is the answer. Sir, therefore, look, you inhale, and how slowly your lungs are expanding. Oh, very nice. And then slowly exhale and bend slowly like this. That’s a dynamic movement. Then you bend completely, try to reach your toes, and have a normal breath. Then inhale and slowly come back. Up and exhale, and hands down. Three times will take seven or eight minutes, and then you relax. Relaxation has more benefit than doing one more exercise instead of relaxing. Prevention is far better than treatment. So the relaxation for a yoga exercise is that kind of prevention, and you give the time to your muscles and ligaments, all the organs in the body, lungs and digestive systems and glands, to relax and have the fresh energy. Which you create through your yoga exercises. So, at least 45 minutes or one hour, you practice āsanas. Not only ten minutes, and quickly, quickly, and I go. Where are you going? Quickly, to God. But who knows if you go to God or you go somewhere in the graveyard. So, slowly practice every day. After that, come to the breath. Breath is a very subtle power. The breath is the strength of your body, your mind, your intellect, and your consciousness. There is a prāṇa, a supply of the life force. So you practice at least 25 minutes of prāṇāyāma. Very systematically, don’t begin immediately with Bhastrikā. Oh God, you will have a heart problem. Don’t do the Kapālbhāti. You will have a headache. To come to Kapālbhāti or Bhastrikā prāṇāyāma, you have to practice for at least half a year. Other prāṇāyāma techniques, very soft, gentle, Nāḍī Śodhana, Anuloma, Viloma, very slowly, every day, and then try to have a little kumbhaka, and then you come to come to the prāśritka, otherwise you damage many things. So Yoga in Daily Life is a five-year course to complete, like a doctor if you want to study medicine, five years. Then you are a teacher, and it means that you have to continue your practice. Many of my yoga teachers have problems with themselves because they do not practice themselves. They have health problems, they are confused, they have doubts because they do not practice. And those who, like you all, practice every day, they are very happy. And they are so happy, so they are dancing and singing. What is dancing? Not with the body, but inside. I am bliss, I am bliss,... I am bliss. Meet your mantra, guru mantra. You know, everything has its law, and that is a cosmic law. You must have the guru mantra, and that means, what kind of law is it? You can print out the passport, but you need a stamp of the government, and if you give a fake stamp on the border, they will say, "My dear, this is a wrong passport." Similarly, you cannot come to that mokṣa or to that cosmic consciousness without the Guru Mantra. You have received the passport, and you said, "Okay, I have a passport. I will put it at home. I don’t care." And you go, they will not let you cross the border. You need your passport document. So, your spiritual passport is your mantra, and holding it with you means bhakti, guru bhakti. And that Guru Bhakti, you can lose it with Kuṣaṅga. After the end of life, when the time will come, I have my Gurudeva, I had a mantra, yes, I had Guru Bhakti, but where? You lost it. Where? In Kuśaṅgā. Manasabhī, Ghoyore, Kuśaṅgyore, Saṅg. You will ask yourself, to your mind, and your mind said, "What?" Then your Viveka will say, "Oh my dear mind, you lost everything with the Kuṣaṅgas, with those stupid, crazy things, crazy people, which have in them those negative Āsurī Śaktis. What did you lose?" You lost that knowledge. Dhyāna, you lost your meditation. You cannot meditate. Because whenever you sit in meditation, you have doubts. Meditation should be such a divine, peaceful experience. But when you sit in meditation, then, well, my neighbor was so bad. You meditate. My colleague, that is a horrible person. You meditate. I hope God will give you good thinking, meditation. My car doesn’t start; I have to go to the workshop. If this is a meditation, this is not meditation; it is torturing thyself. Meditation is entering into the supreme bliss, ānanda. But that can only be the jñāna, dhyāna, or bhakti. These three things are there: tyāga and vairāgya. Vairāgyaṁ tyāga khole tumhārā bhāga. Then your fortune will open, your luck will open. Jñāna, jñāna, bhakti, sab khoī, calā rayo kuḍhaṅg. Oh my dear, now you are moving on the wrong path, the wrong way. So, meditate with the Guru Mantra. Without Guru Mantra, meditation is like a statue without a soul inside. A body without a soul has no prāṇa. So prāṇa is that, your bhakti, your gurumantra, practice, meditation. After that, you chant Oṁ three times. Three times, all three words: past, present, and future. All three tapas: ādhibhautika, ādhidaivika, and ādhyātmika. OM, body, mind, and soul. You feel the divine sound, vibration, bringing everything into balance. And then, Om, such a divine, everything in one place, Om Śānti, oh how beautiful, Om Śānti. Blessing thyself, and we are blessing the world. Peace. Om Śānti. Na Drupaparabrahma. That sound is the supreme. Don’t do just like, "Om Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ." I go to drink my coffee because I have to go to the office. That is too little. So morning hours are golden hours. And that whole day, your life will be like this. Therefore, begin, and then have your good breakfast and go to work. And what to do during the daytime and evening when you come, that will be the next webcasting. I wish you all the best. Practical, life should be practical. God’s blessing, all the best. And pray to Mahāprabhujī to bless you and give you bhakti, śakti, jñāna, and vairāgya, and satsaṅg. Na’ham kartā prabhu dīpa kartā, Mahāprabhujī dīpa kartā he kevalam. Om śāntiḥ śāntiḥ... Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī Jai.
