Lord Krishna's Incarnation Day part three

A ritual invocation and devotional celebration are described.

The essence must be pressed and dried with focused reverence. Offerings of grains, water, and fragrant substances are made with folded hands. Specific gestures and placements are crucial, such as the position of the fingers when giving gold. The preparation of materials like sandalwood paste and the breaking of bilva leaves are acts of devotion. A school celebration for Janmāṣṭamī includes speeches and performances honoring Śrī Kṛṣṇa's birth and teachings. The event features dances, recitations, and a presentation about a devotional pilgrimage. The core message is to spread devotion, as Kṛṣṇa incarnates to protect righteousness and destroy wickedness.

"Oṃ Namaḥ, press the essence; it should come out."

"Whenever there is a decline in righteousness and an increase in unrighteousness, I manifest in every age and place."

Filming location: Jadan, Rajasthan, India

Look at how the essence should flow like a crow. Do it with Mahādeva above. Press the essence and then dry it. Oṃ Namaḥ, press the essence; it should come out. Oṃ Namaḥ, aṃ bhavajaya jamayo brahaspada vasudha, break it, break it... I offer the grains of wheat, barley, and lentils, O Lord of the universe, to the divine beings. I offer the grains of wheat, barley, and lentils... I offer the place for grains and water. I offer pure water with folded hands again and again. I offer pure water with folded hands. I offer water for cleansing with folded hands. I offer water for cleansing with folded hands. Always, O Śiva, with folded hands, I bow down. Please accept this humble offering. And thus, O Mahiraṇya, the one who bestows the gift of gold, may you be born as the lord of the house. We offer this dakṣiṇā with reverence, O Mahiraṇya, to the divine time and the gods. May this dakṣiṇā be accepted by the gods. Place the gold in the hand; the ring finger here, the middle finger there, and so on. This is the name of the one who burns away all impurities, O Mādevī, the beloved of the heart. Lago Oṃ Tramba Kamzala Maheshugan Dhem Puṣṭi Vardanamma Orvaru Kamivabandanan Mṛtyor Mṛtyor... With utmost reverence, I offer pure, fragrant substances as dakṣiṇā to Sadāśiva Devatā. I offer pure, fragrant substances as dakṣiṇā. I offer pure, fragrant substances as dakṣiṇā.... Quickly perform the āratī, quickly perform the āratī... the great scholar of the ancient world, the wise one... Oṃ namāśaṃ bhavāya camayo bavāya canamāśaṃ karāya jamaskarāya jamaskarāya... Just ask, go ahead and ask, Anishya sāhab. Take the spara and the jārī, so that you can say this is Anishya, who is that? Let everything come out clearly. The community is here, take the jārī once more, Paramātmā. So that everyone asks, take these jārīs, keep them for just two minutes. That’s it now. The position of the thumb and the grip is very important, strong and firm, and it is like a companion with water and fire, which removes all the impurities, and the dough should be perfectly clean and smooth, like a frame or a border, so that it holds firmly in one place, and the second time it rises well. O Lord of the Nāga deities, You are the divine light above, the speech that manifests as light. I bow to the waters, to all the serpents. Whatever conduct is to be followed, whatever method is known, I bow to all the serpents. Pure and auspicious salutations. Now, just take a little water in your hand and do it. Whoever is getting stuck, go silently into the forest; the water will not stop flowing. Alright, sit down a little, apply it elsewhere. Apply the fragrance, brother, first apply the nāga fragrance, apply the fragrance. If you don’t apply the fragrance, then don’t forget the flower; everything is remembered. If you forget, the mind will remember. Why would I forget? It is essential to know the fragrance for adornment. The fragrance has been cut; it has fallen on the mother. It is here, all around it, the Śivaliṅgam is present, and we are in obedience. The āratī remains, adorn yourselves, the adornment is yet to be done, perform the āratī, bring the Mārāj and call him to the āratī, Mārāj is present, you perform the āratī. Take the soul, take the soul, firmly apply the essence, press the soul like this. Not the raganī, yes, see, this post must be made, the raganī will descend here, firmly, first sir, our people have completed the full portion, clear, Lālo, the patches are applied. Amṛtyasyamaya Amṛtyasyamaya... Amṛtya You are exactly like that, yes yes... I will stop the water for two minutes, I will stop the water for two minutes. I am taking a moment to pause, stopping for two minutes. No, truly adorn yourself, stop the water twice. No, stop the ailments for two minutes, no water. If there is adornment, then stop, otherwise, stop completely. Just give... Now, take some cotton wool and press it gently. Then take a bowl of sandalwood and grind it finely and thinly to prepare the Oṃ. Place it in the sandalwood bowl. Come, together let us offer the sacred garments in the yajña, drape the śivaliṅga with them. O yajña, pure in essence, pure in heart, with compassion and devotion, arrange everything properly before us. May longevity and auspiciousness be granted, may the stage be adorned beautifully. O yajña, pure in essence, may the body be sanctified, the garments be sanctified... You dress yourself up alone, while the others are chatting away. Come today, that would be better. I said, until now I have been with them. I see that they are chatting a lot—there, there, breaking bilva leaves, breaking daru dounkla, Devnā... Call him, then place the bil leaf; see, the stem is broken and cracked. Place it, are you ready? Both namas—bil, bīnech, kavche, necha; namas to the great men, varūte, necha; namas to Suratāya, Susrēnā, and Lārujī’s boat, unite and cross over. Oh, oh, breaking it, Sivajīr, mother, a thousand times, five or two, place it as much as you can; this is so dear to Śiva. Bil leaf, a thousand times, oh. The lārū dantal should break and crumble; just take it, it breaks and crumbles. You apply it, oh dandal, a little name Oṃ Namo Bil Bil, you have to perform the prāṇgāra. It has broken and flown away. I have given it to prepare. It has broken and flown away. It has broken and flown away... I have given it to prepare. It has broken and flown away. It has broken and flown... away. O sons of Nāga devatā, offer tikkī; Nāga devatā, give tikkī. O Chandan devatā, place offerings above. Nāga devatā, scatter māti bil leaves. Nāga devatā, scatter māti bil leaves.... Falling down... fall. Offer all these flowers in the temple; place the flowers, leaves, and bilva leaves with devotion. Like the Nāga deity, offer two flowers; place two kalāra flowers, then offer sevantī, bagula, champaka, and pāṭal flowers. Offer flowers of jasmine, bilva, coral, tulasī, and śīdal blossoms as well. Worship thus, O Lord of the universe, be pleased with this humble offering. I always offer these fragrant flowers to Śiva. Please keep the firewood ready for the funeral pyre. The community will come today; prepare one large bundle and one medium bundle of firewood. The community will come; prepare the firewood. I offer incense and light lamps to the Lord. I show the lamp directly, bowing to the moonlight. The sun sets, the sun is born, the two currents and prāṇa emerge from the mouth. I offer incense and ghee, directly showing the lamp. The bel leaves have fallen like this, the pouch has fallen like this. Rex, hey, no, look at the Shiva, the vessel is placed on the plate, the offerings below, in front, oh you, do it, offerings below, hey, why the bel leaves were sown? Water flows, it does not stop; water flows, so you must flow with it. If you try to take the child forcefully, there will be resistance; if there is resistance, then yes, that is exactly it. And see, the work will be accomplished well. This is a big obstacle because your work is to accomplish, only your work is to accomplish. Everything else is in between; just observe and take it. Ring the bell and turn around twice, leave the ground at night, once again leave the water, neither at night nor during the offering. I offer the ninth offering, the drinking water, I offer nourishment. Whether performing the meditation mudrā or the grasping mudrā, I offer the offering, the offering is offered, it is to be known. I offer nourishment with urine, I offer the fruits of nourishment with urine. Here, keep it or yes, going to read, read Rūpa or going to read, going to read, read Rūpa or going to read, going to read... Pañca puṅgī phalam mahā viryam nāvu elā dī cun sayuktam tāmbulyam pratrigaīya dām sām sadā śivāya namaḥ Pañca puṅgī phalam mahā viryam nāvu elā dī cun sayuktam tāmbulyam pratrigaīya dām sām sadā śivāya namaḥ. Keep the time, lovingly do not desire anything for yourself, there is no hurry. A mala has fallen, look at the beads carefully. Place them gently, like blossomed flowers, blossomed flowers. Collect the flowers carefully, all around is silent. Open one mala, Vasudeva Jī, gather four flowers, collect one mala. Collect the flowers carefully, do not scatter the flowers on the ground. Only then will the ritual be complete. There is no shortcut to this. Tell me, Vasudeva Jī, yes, this collection is like the pure nectar of lemon water. I offer this betel leaf, properly prepared, as a token of respect. The betel leaf, adorned with gold-like brilliance, is held with care in the right hand. It is to be touched with reverence, as it embodies the essence of the divine. In the beginning, it is associated with the primordial being; in the middle, it is connected to the sacred offering; and at the end, it is linked to the eternal presence of Kāśī. Thus, I present this offering with devotion and humility. A single flower does not allow the fragrance to remain confined. Nārēl, nārēl... Speak, O letter, flower, fruit, water, jewels, various grains, and oblations—grant me the desired fruit, form, victory, fortune, O Bhagavān. Grant me sons, grandsons, wealth, and all desires. May everything in the body be fulfilled by the fruit of the fruit; may all the moving and non-moving beings of the three worlds be successful and complete through the offering of the fruit. May all desires be fulfilled; may all sin, all sorrow, all poverty, and all misfortune depart. May auspiciousness and prosperity come; may I attain the merit of beholding You. Keep your head bowed and offer the red sandalwood and the black sesame seeds to Śiva. Keep your head bowed and offer the red sandalwood and also the black sesame seeds. Offer the black sesame seeds, and then offer the fivefold prāṇa to Bhagavān. Offer everything to Bhagavān, whatever you have. Mahārāj, start the āratī later. Get the āratī ready, everyone get ready in advance. If you want to make the small or big āratī, or the five big ones, then see, is the preparation done or not? Whether yes or no, keep it aside for now. See if anyone is giving gudā or not, if not, then focus your attention, everyone, both elders and children, get involved. If the agarwood and camphor are insufficient, then add more as needed. Keep whatever you have and observe. Place a piece of camphor on the forehead, one by one, and perform the āratī. Perform the āratī... I am Jodh Purbrampurī Sāh, here to perform the āratī for you all. Sanskrit and Hindi terms include, cakra, prāṇa, kuṇḍalinī, ātmā, Bhagavān, Viśvaguru, Viśvaguru,... Mahāmaṇḍaleśvarānanda Purī Jī, Śrī Dīpa Nārāyaṇa, Śrī Dīpa Nārāyaṇa,... And after a half-hour interval or pause, we have arranged for the children, so you are welcome to be seated. Thank you very much. Speak, O Śrī Dīpa Nāyana Bhagavān. After the prayer of Śrī Dīpa Nāyana, a small program of the school will be presented. Whenever the darkness of ignorance has overshadowed the earth, bhajans and songs on the childhood pastimes have been sung. On that, a dance will be performed. The mischievous children, born with bonds from many lifetimes, come into this world—who is to blame for this? Do not give it; the beautiful flute of Śyāma is played by the dancing girls. The boys and girls of the school presented a beautiful dance on the childhood pastimes of Śrī Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān. The love between Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Rādhā, Śrī Kṛṣṇa and the gopīs, was unwavering, as expressed in the song: "Kāgā sabatan khāiyō, chunchun khāiyō, mās bas do nēnā mat khāiyō," reflecting the longing for union with the gopīs. The girls performed the rāsa dance with devotion. The boys and girls have gathered here. I am going to call the twelfth-grade student Nirmalā Sāṅkhalā, who will speak on the topic of why Janmāṣṭamī is celebrated. After this, Gītā verses will be recited by the fifth-grade students. The speaker is Nirmalā Sāṅkhalā. Today, on this auspicious occasion of Janmāṣṭamī, I extend my greetings to the venerable Gurudeśī, Mahīśvānana Jī, Premānana Jī, Pradānācārya Jī, Pradān Adhyāpikā Jī, all the teachers and instructors present in the school, and to the divine disciples born in the prison of my heart. From the forest to the ages, the bearer of the message of love will be blessed; it must have been on the Aṣṭamī Rohiṇī nakṣatra and the night of the Kṛṣṇa pakṣa when the moon, in which Bhagavān Viṣṇu’s complete avatāra with the śaṅkha, cakra, ghaḍā, and padmadhārī chatrabuṣvara appeared, illuminated the entire prison with the radiance of Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s brilliance. In the path of jñāna, the jñānī gave the essence of the Gītā, while in the path of bhakti, such a river of love flowed that even Śiva Kāma Deva himself was absorbed in the great essence of their Brahmī. In the path of yoga, the Yogeśvara Śrī Kṛṣṇa is called so—not only was Kṛṣṇa’s birth unique, but so were his actions. Divine were the teachings of jñāna, upāsanā, and karma; the Gītā, a profound scripture, was delivered by the miraculous teacher. His childhood was like the battlefield of the Mahābhārata, full of strategy and valor. His various forms are astonishing and awe-inspiring from every perspective. Like Kṛṣṇa, he embraced all beings as his own, and like a fierce hunter of evil, he was a profound goal-oriented practitioner, conveying infinite līlā and messages. What Mahāprabhujī is doing today as the great avatāra satisfies all those on the path of yoga. Even countless scholars of Sarasvatī are unable to fully describe Kṛṣṇa, because he is the son of Nanda, the peacock-feathered one, the beloved of Yaśodā, the friend of Sudāmā, the lover of the gopīs, the protector of the Yādavas, the charioteer of Arjuna, the supreme lord of Rukmiṇī, the beloved of Rādhā, the far-reaching king... The revered one of the Mīrbāg sampradāya is the very center of faith for millions as Jagnār Jī, and also alone resides as Śrī Nār Jī. Altogether, his life is a symbol of completeness. On the fertile earth, the terror of Kaṃsa had increased, and that terror was ended... Kharasma had incarnated as their nephew to carry out this task. The Vidyālay family warmly welcomes and heartily greets all the visitors who have come to this program. According to Bāvajī Mahārāj’s instructions, when he gives the order, Padānāchā Jī will respectfully welcome him with a ceremonial offering. In the next segment of the series, we are bringing the Madhurāṣṭakam. The fifth student, Karmaṇīya Vādhī, is presenting it. Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa has given this teaching to all of us in the Gītā. Even little boys and girls are presenting it in the form of Madhurāṣṭakam. The boys and girls of the school presented Madhurāṣṭakam in the mother tongue, Sanskrit. Among us, there is a beautiful representation of the International Kṛṣṇa Bhāvanāmṛta Saṅgha, which you all can see near the stage. Here is a brief introduction to the International Kṛṣṇa Bhāvanāmṛta Saṅgha. I am going to call on stage a member of this saṅgha, Śrī Bajraṅgī Dās from Hastināpur. Please give a big round of applause for Śrī Bajraṅgī Dās. Hare Kṛṣṇa to all the devotees, and many thanks to all the devotees on the occasion of Kṛṣṇa Janmāṣṭamī, celebrating Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa and Balarāma. A beautiful chariot has come inside the Mēśā Denjī āśrama, so I would like to brief you a little about this pilgrimage. The chariot you are seeing is a bullock cart; there are two bullock carts with us. One is the chariot of Bhagavān, and in the other, there are five bulls pulling the cart with us. So this devotion is very divine and extraordinary. This pilgrimage started in 1984 from Dwārī, which is located in the Gujarat region, and from there it has completed five circumambulations of the entire India. Five means one India, and on this side, what is the name of Kṛṣṇa’s brother? Dāvjī, Dāvjī’s brother Kṛṣṇa Kanaiyā, speak loudly. Dāvjī’s brother, the children’s voices are not coming through. Dāvjī’s brother Kṛṣṇa Kanaiyā, Dāvjī’s brother, he is with them. The presenter Vichale was on a pilgrimage five months ago in Dvārakā, and from Dvārakā... While walking, today I have come to your Mahāśvnan Āśram, and in this pilgrimage, there are 25 devotees, all from different regions. For example, one or two devotees are sitting before us. What is the message of Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa? So, the message of Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa is that Bhagavān has... In the Gītā itself, Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s message is that everyone should spread devotion to Me. Kṛṣṇa bhakti will continue to flow, so all of you—whether boys or girls, all the students in the school here—this is a great fortune for you because this is not just a Janmāṣṭamī program here. We were supposed to be in another village, but since we are here, it is a great fortune for all of you that Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa Balarām, seated in His own essence, has blessed you with His darśan on this sacred occasion of Janmāṣṭamī. This is your good fortune, so on this day, no matter how much you praise Bhagavān, it is never enough. I incarnate to protect the self and to destroy the wicked, to establish dharma, and whenever there is a decline in righteousness and an increase in unrighteousness, as Lord Śrī Kṛṣṇa explains in the scriptures, I manifest in every age and place. The protection of the sādhus, those devotees of Bhagavān, is essential. There were many rākṣasas under King Kaṃsa, and Bhagavān completely eradicated them. That is why it is very important. Even today, there are people who are adversaries of dharma, which is why Svāmījī is here, and through this medium of poetry, we are spreading this message extensively. It is a great blessing, so everyone will offer a prayer together: Hare Kṛṣṇa Mahāmantra. Everyone raise your hands and take the name of Bhagavān. See, raise your hands like this, both hands raised. Everyone, take the name of Bhagavān—Rādhā Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān, Sītārāma, Lakṣmaṇa, Hanumān. In the next segment of the program, a play on the Kṛṣṇa līlā will be performed, which includes the bhajan "Are Dvār Pālo Kanhiā Se Kah Do." In this bhajan, the vocals will be performed by the bhajan singer Śrīmān Asuk Jī Chohan, while Kul Dīp and Kaksā Caturth’s child Vāl will enact the roles. It is being done on the stage. You are going to meet your friend, and outside the palace, the gatekeeper, Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān’s guardian, his servant, seeing their poor condition, stops them. You all will witness this weight and this drama being enacted on the stage, and along with encouragement for our little child artists, all the speakers will offer their blessings. At Aśakṣāt, once there was a loud chant of Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa’s name: "Kṛṣṇa Kanhiyā Lāl." Someone said to the gatekeepers, "Tell Kanhiyā that Sudāmā, the poor one, has come to the door." Tell the gatekeeper Kanaiyā that Sudāmā, the poor one, has come to the door, that Sudāmā, the poor one, has come to the door, wandering and wandering, not knowing from where he has wandered.
