Self-Inquiry Meditation

The path is self-inquiry and human dharma.

Life is a journey of the soul through time, experiencing happiness and suffering across many lives. By grace, one obtains the human form. The human is created as a protector, not a destroyer; this duty is human dharma. The planet is a Karmabhūmi where actions through body, mind, and speech create karma. In every heart, God speaks the language of love and oneness. Negative qualities like pride and hate stem from ignorance, which pulls the soul into darkness. Positive desires of kindness and protection shorten the soul's path. The final milestone is this human life, where individual consciousness can merge into cosmic consciousness. Therefore, self-inquiry meditation is designed for human well-being and planetary protection.

"Human means not to abuse or discriminate towards other creatures."

"You don’t depend on anyone. You are the giver."

Oṁ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ... Cāri Salutation to the cosmic light, Lord of our hearts, omniscient and omnipresent, in the divine presence of God. Good evening, dear brothers and sisters, here in this hall, as well as around the world. All my dear sisters and brothers, spiritual seekers, practitioners of yoga and daily life, or any spiritual path. This special blessing is coming to you from our ashram, Yoga and Daily Life, in Brisbane, Australia. It’s a blessing to be with you. The subject today is to know thyself, and what we should do for that. What should we practice? Self-inquiry meditation of yoga in daily life. Yoga is one of the first and ancient sciences or practices. All the mantras, yantras, the knowledge, the spirituality, everything comes from that ancient wisdom. That’s called yoga, and yoga in daily life is designed according to the ancient authentic literatures, meaning the ancient wisdom for modern life. Life on this planet is sometimes beautiful and sometimes is a little bit of suffering. But the journey of the soul from the very beginning, ages and ages or yugas and yugas, this individual soul is fluttering on the waves of time through the endless universe, through the night and darkness, experiencing happiness and unhappiness, pain and pleasure. We don’t know how many milestones, means how many lives this soul has gone through. Ultimately, by the blessings or divine grace of God or our destiny, we got this human body. The human is created on this planet as a protector, not as a destroyer. To protect this beautiful planet, it means we have a duty. It is our dharma, human dharma, human duties, or human principles. It is that to protect the lives on this planet and protect all the elements. Our planet is known as a living planet. Our prime duty is to protect the life of the ocean, the life of the lakes, and the life of the rivers. Our dharma is to protect the vegetation. Our dharma is to protect the beautiful mountains. Our dharma is to protect all living beings. Human means not to abuse or discriminate towards other creatures. Therefore, this planet is also known as Karmabhūmi, this planet where we can create good or bad karma. Karma is created through body, through mind, through words, and through our social position. It is said, in every heart God is speaking. In every heart, the light of God is there. But our adoration is to that cosmic force, that which speaks in the hearts of humans: the language of love, the language of wisdom, the language of protection, the language of uniting, the language of oneness. Not to create the dualities, not to create the dispute, and not to create the fears. Those who have such a tendency in their heart or in their intellect, that means in that heart God is silent and the negative energy, asuras, they are active. And therefore, the self-inquiry meditation of yoga and daily life is designed to remove all the negative qualities from our consciousness, from the unconscious, subconscious, and conscious—all these three levels of consciousness which we are experiencing 24 hours. From these conscious levels, the vṛttis mean the thoughts, and with those thoughts, the desires come, and desires can be positive or negative. Positive desires are connected with the love or mercy of the divine, and negative desires are connected with ego, with hate, with jealousy, and that means ignorance. Ignorance is the māyā. Māyā means ignorance, and that ignorance means the darkness. That means those negative qualities, the pride, the anger, the hate, the jealousy, the revenge, will pull the soul forever and ever again into the darkness. We will make our destination farther than before, and to have good desires means to help, be kind, love, understand, and protect. That will shorten our way, and this final milestone means the human life. This individual soul and individual consciousness will merge into the cosmic consciousness. So every wise man, every clever one, and everyone who wishes for oneself as well as for others will meditate and know, "Who am I, and how am I?" So, the self-inquiry meditation is designed for the well-being of humans, to work in this world for the sake of the protection and well-being of this planet. My dear brothers and sisters, yoga and daily life around the world have many different activities. The social work, what we call helping hands, has more value than folded hands. Yoga and daily life support poor children in their education. The Yoga and Daily Life organization is protecting the wildlife, providing feeders as well as water in those remote areas where there is little rain and there is drought. Yoga and daily life are protecting and organizing the purification of the rivers and the lakes, and designing the canalizations for the purification of the waters. We are working for improving the environment, and with this, improving human health—what I call physical, mental, social, and spiritual health. As well as the Yoga and Daily Life, it is organizing numerous multicultural and multi-religious conferences with dialogue among different beliefs. That we are all children of one God. Religion is only divided by humans, but there is only one religion, and that’s called humanity. The Yoga and Daily Life is having worldwide peace prayers. Wherever Yoga and Daily Life practitioners or yoga schools are, there is a peace prayer, especially when the United Nations has declared the peace prayers in October, the month of October. Yoga and Daily Life is observing the non-violence day which the United Nations has declared in honor of Mahatma Gandhi’s ahiṁsā paramo dharmaḥ, the non-violence day. My dear brothers and sisters, at a minimum, one international-level world peace conference is also organized by Yoga and Daily Life. Not only that much, but we have programs designed for blind people, yoga for schools, yoga for seniors, yoga for rehabilitation centers, and also yoga in life for nursing schools. Therefore, the yoga in daily life around the world is what gives the benefit of good health and education to millions of people. And all day, practice the self-inquiry meditation. So I invite you all, my dear, for meditation today. If you are somewhere and have the possibility, you may meditate with us or remember, and afterwards you can meditate. So we shall do now the meditation. Everybody, adjust yourself comfortably. Swamiji, adjust yourself in such a way that you will not feel discomfort during the meditation. Place your hands in chin mudrā. Try to keep your body upright and straight. Make sure that you feel comfortable during the meditation time. Deep inhale. In reality, we are never alone. We are one with all, all in one. Relax and transfer each and every thought toward the heart. As soon as the human qualities awaken in your hearts, the certainty, the clarity, the compassion, and the understanding will develop. Relax. Observe your breath now at the center of the chest. That ingoing and outgoing breath gently touches the center of the chest. No expectation, no imagination, just feel the happiness. Finally, we have to come from the intellect to our heart. That is the supreme, the spiritual, the divine intellect in the heart. Towards the brain is the material intellect. Both unite together, uniting to the wisdom, leading to our final destination. Feel yourself like a beautiful flower which has a very beautiful, fragrant smell. And you know that flower, only from the presence of the flower, the whole space is filled with the smell. But the flower doesn’t lose anything. You are the flower of the Gurudev’s garden, or the garden of God. Just be there. Your spirituality, your being positive, the mercy of your heart, and your wisdom, let it flow. You lose nothing because the source is the cosmic Self, endless. You don’t depend on anyone. You are the giver. You are the giver. From your divine heart, from your holy heart, send your blessings, good wishes for the well-being of the entire planet. Feel thankfulness to the cosmic self that he gave you such a beautiful life, that God finds you worthy enough to give this beautiful energy and thoughts to the world. With this, three times deep inhale and exhale, let the divine radiance flow in the universe and in the whole world. Deep inhale and exhale. Peace be in my heart. Oṁ Śāntiḥ, slowly move your fingers, close the fists, open the palms, again close your fists, open the palms, fold your palms and rub the palms, place the hands on the face, open your eyes, move the hands, Hari Oṁ. Bend forward, try to touch your hands on the ground, and feel the fresh blood circulation towards the head, towards your eyes, your ears, and face muscles. Slowly, with the help of the hands, come up. Hari Oṁ. So, thank you. Wish you all the best, and good evening. Thank you all, dear ones around the world. See you again tomorrow with the webcast from the beautiful Sunshine Coast near Brisbane, Australia. God bless you. Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī, Dev Purīṣa Mahādeva Kī, Jaya Mādhava Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān Kī, Jaya. Oṁ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ...
