Mahaprabhuji's Mahasamadhi celebration from Nepal

Satsaṅg is the boat to reach the ultimate reality.

Satsaṅg is a rare opportunity. The Satguru brings this satsaṅg from the realm of truth. Only Brahman, the One, is everlasting reality; the changing world is unreal. This mortal world is where all that appears must disappear. Within all creation is the indestructible Śiva Jyoti, the Ātmā flame. Humans possess intellect and require education. Worldly knowledge is for survival; supreme knowledge comes only from the Satguru. True human qualities are compassion, dharma, and detachment; the root of sin is arrogance. This human life is the sole chance to return to Brahman. Service without expectation is the greatest practice.

Good evening, dear brothers and sisters of Pokhara. Today is a very auspicious day that we are all here together for the satsaṅg. Satsaṅg in life is very rare. Those who are fortunate ones have the opportunity to come to satsaṅg. It is said that from the Śiva Loka to the Brahmaloka, to the Satyaloka, from the Satyaloka comes the Satguru, and the Satguru has brought the satsaṅg. The satsaṅg is the boat to reach the Satyaloka. Satyaloka or Brahmaloka is the same. Therefore, it is said in Vedānta, "Brahma Satyaṁ Jagat Mithyā, Eko Brahma Dvitīya Nāsti." Only the One is reality, and that is Brahman. That is everlasting, immortal, and unchangeable. What is the changeable is unreality. Our body is changing. Our feelings are changing. Our thoughts are changing. Everything is changing in nature. This planet Earth is known as the Mṛtyuloka, the mortal world. Those who come into this world have to go back. Dear sisters and brothers, it is my first time to give the satsaṅg here in Nepal. So, especially here in Pokhara, therefore, I am very happy, and especially I have one request more: please stop the tea service, and do not speak, please, because the camera is very sensitive. You are all in view to the whole world now. And when the message goes from Nepal, people around the world should know how spiritual and good the people are in Nepal. Ānand Brahmāṇḍa Śāstra Sūrya: The universe is endless, and there are thousands and millions of sun systems. Everything is created by the One. The universe, which is called śūnyakāśa, the empty, void space. In the universe, there is nothing existing. The space is known as the body of the mother. Sampūrṇa brahmāṇḍa, the entire universe, is the symbol of the mother. The Cosmic Consciousness is within the universe, and that is known as Hiraṇyagarbha, the Golden Embryo. The consciousness and the space, these are two. Within them is called the śakti, that śakti which is being called yoga. God Kṛṣṇa said, "Time to time, I manifest myself through my yoga māyā, and so it is that Śakti which is balancing, harmonizing, and uniting the space and consciousness." If that cosmic consciousness awakes some tendency, that we call Spūrṇa. Spurṇa means some kind of vibration, taraṅg. In that spurṇa, it is declared in the Vedas, "Eko’haṁ bahusyāmi"—I am one, and I will now multiply myself. In Anand, in the endless universe, where there is nothing, no stars, no sun, no planets, nothing. Within that, the Nāda awakes, Nāda Rūpa Parabrahma. The Vedas say the form of the Supreme Brahman is the Nāda. That Nāda is known as Oṃkāra. "Oṃkāra bindu saṁyuktaṁ nityaṁ dhyāyanti yoginaḥ." That is on which all yogīs and saints are meditating. In that endless universe, jiskā koī patā nahīṁ hai, jiskī sīmā kā hai, hameṁ patā nahīṁ hai. Within that is the sound Oṁ, like that, that’s called the Nāda. Within no time, the sound, the vibration, the Tāraṅg is spread in the entire universe. From that sound appears Jyoti, that’s called Śiva Jyoti. Śiva is the first one in the universe. Because Śiva is known as Swayambhū, no one has created him. He is the Himself manifestates in Ānanda. From that divine sound, the cosmic sound. The concentrated energy develops into the jyoti we call Śiva jyoti. Jyoti chha, prakāśa chha, teche le āmi le vanden chha, Śiva Jyoti. And from this Śiva Jyoti, Śiva himself manifests. From that vibration, from those waves, the stars, the millions of sun systems, all the elements, visible and invisible energy and elements are developed in the Ananta. That Śiva Jyoti, that’s called the Brahman, the Brahmakī Ātmā. And we are all that one ray, the one light, the one part of that Śiva Jyoti. Many yugas, many kalpas, many manvantaras are past. Many times, many suns were developed, and many suns again disappeared. It is the Swayambhū Śiva who has created these elements on this planet. These four elements—fire, air, water, and earth—on this planet, the creation takes place. The creator has created 8.4 million creatures, 84 lakh jīva jyoti. And this planet, our mother Earth, is declared as Mṛtyuloka. Mortal world, who came here have to go, who is born will die, which appear will disappear, what is created again will be destroyed, but within this all there is a Śiva Jyoti. That Śiva Jyoti is known as the Ātmā flame. That Śiva Jyoti no one can destroy. Akhaṇḍa Nirākāra Nirañjan Nitya, that is the Śiva Jyoti. And so, out of 8.4 million different creatures, divided into three categories—the jīva, thalchar, napchar, or jalchar—these are three kinds of creatures. In all these 8.4 million different creatures, one is the human, and humans have got a very powerful tool. And that is called buddhi. Through the power of the buddhi, humans are capable of liberating themselves. But the intellect of the human needs education. First, education is the education of the mother and father. Mother and father give education to the children. Towards the gods, towards satsaṅg, towards what it means to be a human. In front of us, we have two kinds of vidyā. One is called aparavidyā and one is called paravidyā. Aparāvidyā you learn in the school, in the college, in the university, just to survive in this civilization. But that is not our aim only. We have to learn the Aparāvidyā. At Parāvidyā you cannot learn in any school, college, or university. But Parāvidyā is only there where the Paramguru, Satguru Dev is there. Therefore, Śiva himself incarnates in the form of the self. The senses have the brahmajñāna; therefore, it is a brahmajñāte brāhmaṇa. Brahmins are they who know the Brahman. If you are the Brahman and still you haven’t got the brahmajñāna, you have no right to say that you are the Brahman. If you are a Brahmin and you don’t have Brahma Gyan with you, there is no harm in calling yourself a Brahmin. Brahmin is not a caste. By birth, all are śūdras. By birth, caste, all are śūdras. Karma se jāti banti hai. And through the knowledge, you become the enlightened one or the Brahman. In our Sanātana Dharma, in Hindu Dharma, there was no caste system at all. We declare ātmā, so Paramātmā, all are the Paramātmā. But unfortunately, some people have made such a blackmailing in the minds of the people and divided it as a caste. There is only one caste, and that’s called human. So we are all human. But we should know what it means to be human. What does it mean to become a human? What makes us human? Which qualities are within the humans that make the human? Dharma, Vairāgya, Jñāna, Tyāga, Tapasyā, Uddhāra, these are the human qualities. Dharma, Vairāgya, Jñāna, Tyāga, Tapasyā, Uddhāra, Dayā, Dharma, Bhakti—these are the human qualities. All these are human qualities, and dhanav is called anger, hate, greed, jealousy, irṣā. And so all this, jiske hṛdaye me dayā nahīṁ hai, vah dhanav hai. In whose heart there is no compassion, they are like a dānav, a rākṣasa, a satan. Jaisā kṛpā māyā chāhinā, kyoṁ manav goyero banī yobra dhanav ko rūp mā hoṁcha. Therefore, Tulsīdās is said in the Rāmāyaṇa. He says, Tulasīdāsa is said in the Rāmāyaṇa. Daya dharm kā mūl hai, pāp mūl abhimān, Tulsī dayā na chhoḍīye, jab lāg ghaṭ me prāṇ. Dayā dharm kā mūl hai, roots of dharma is compassion, dayā. Paap Mool Abhimān, and the cause and the roots of sin, is the arrogance, the ego. Therefore, Tulsī Dājī says, "Tulsī, dayā na chhoḍī," don’t give up your compassion. Jab lāk ghaṭme prāṇ, as long as you have a life in your heart. Tava sammā dayā chodhnā hū dainā. Therefore, the human needs the education. Tesele Manav Lahi Shiksha Chahincha Pada Vidhya, the Jñāna, the Jñāna what we learned at the school and university is only for our stomach. Jun Śikṣā Amine Vidyālaya Bhāṭā, Campus Bhāṭā Prāpto Garcha, Utyā Hamro Peṭmā Mātare Simit Rahanchcha. Therefore, it is said that from Satyaloka comes the Satguru. Satyaloka is the Satguru, and the Satguru brings the satsaṅg. And the satsaṅg is the boat in which we are sitting. Satsaṅg is the place where we are sitting right now, and Gurudev is the captain, and Guru Nānak Sāhib, Guru Nānak Sāhib said, "Satguru nām jahāj hai aur chandesh utāre pār." Those who will sit in this boat with love, devotion, and confidence, be sure that Satguru will bring you to the mainland. Satguru, human life is only the chance for us to come again to Brahman, only one. This is an opportunity that we can go to satsaṅg. We can make our own changes. Humans are standing just one step away from the door of Brahman. And that one step is towards the satsaṅg, dharma, dayā. And one step back means again you will fall into the Caurāsī, into Naraka. Where people are learning yoga, meditation, prāṇāyāma, khilya yoga, jñāna, sādhanā, nāda yoga, and the Vedānta. According to the Bhagavān Sadāśiva Ādi Śaṅkarācārya, Śaṅkarācārya is the head of our sannyāsa order and akhāṛās. So I am also very happy to welcome our dear Swamiji here. Swamiji, we are from the same line, Saṅgarācāryas. We have the Akhāṛās, the seven Akhāṛās, and one of the biggest Akhāṛās, the number of the sādhus is called Juna Akhāṛā. And from our Juna Akhāṛā, the Swāmījī, Śrī Purakhya Namurā Mahārājī, Ānandagiri Jī Mahārāj, his name, you know, and you know, you have Dalāgiri Pahāṛ, mountain. So Dhaulagiri Pahāṛ is east of the mountain, you know. Śaṅkarācārya gave the ten names: ten names, where there is Giri, Purī, Bhāratī, Sarasvatī, and Āśrama, Araṇya, and so on. These are the different names. Anandagiri Mahārāj is from Juna Akhāṛā, Nāgābābā, as well as Mahant and Mahant. He is living here in our āśram here in Pokhara. He is doing the sevā, especially for those sādhus, the saints who come traveling, walking, to give them cloth, medicine, whatever they need. Once Bhagavān Viṣṇu wanted to know what is better: Mokṣa or Sevā. Seva bhaari nikla, seva was more than the mokṣa. Therefore, God Himself, He gave up the Vaikuṇṭha, the happy life of the Svarga, Vaikuṇṭha, and He incarnated 24 incarnations on this earth to serve the people. To love and protect all creatures and vegetation. The greatest sādhanā, the greatest practice, what you can do is the sevā. When you are doing seva, God himself is acting within you. But seva should be without expectation, sākām and niṣkām, the niṣkām seva way. I had the opportunity to visit his āśram, and Swāmījī was very great and made a great seva. So we welcome you here, and today is the occasion of Bhagavān Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī’s Mahāsamādhi day, the birth celebration. Now we will have prayer, and after prayer, it will be Mahā Prasād. You are all welcome. Nobody should go without eating, without prasāda. And call your friends or family members who didn’t come; they should come. So if your family members are not present here, invite them to take the prasāda. So, to perform the āratī, Kṛṣṇa or Līlā Bhagat, whoever comes, perform the āratī of Gurū Dev. Blessings to all of you. We are here for a month. I will be here for one month, and every evening we have satsaṅg. Unfortunately, I can’t speak good Nepali. Abū, maiṁ rāmro saṅkhyā Nepālī to bolnā jāntā na. But I know the Nepali people also speak good Hindi. Because, especially, you look at the television, Yarnai Chha. Yuga yuga tī jaya Īśvara tī prabhu jānī bala tī merī gāye ārūḍha taravī pāyā gyāne mujhiyāla dīpa prabhu sarivinati sulanjonī namaya namo namo jīvī koṭi koṭi praṇāma palaka palatī sukhasāgarī janama nāma niyāsa vyanda odaya apsatā. Gurume śiṣyahu āpam paramahaṁsa, Gurume vajīva. Om Dīpa Jyoti Par Brahma Dīpam Sarve Mohana Dīpanam Sajyate Sarvam Sandhyā Dīpam Sarva Satyam.
