Gurupurnima 2012 (2/2)

Guru Pūrṇimā unites the aspirant's consciousness with the Cosmic Consciousness. The Guru principle is the highest reality. This day honors the lineage and the incarnation of Bhagavān Veda Vyāsa, who spoke the scriptures. Listeners must receive wisdom from the speaker without distraction. Talking or sleeping in satsaṅg creates spiritual loss. The human body is the field of dharma, a battlefield where desires like attachment and aversion arise. The sole remedy for these impurities is detachment, which is attained only through satsaṅg. Satsaṅg imparts a divine color to the heart, making worldly pleasures tasteless. One must purify the mind of negativity, just as salt must be removed to taste sweetness. Those who enter and remain in the Guru's wisdom become that wisdom themselves; those who step away lose it.

"Without satsaṅg, you cannot get that color."

"When you taste the nectar of God’s wisdom, then the worldly taste is tasteless."

In every house, we celebrate birthdays for everyone. Guru Pūrṇimā is that which unites the aspirant’s consciousness with the Cosmic Consciousness. Guru tattva is the highest tattva: the Siddhapīṭha Paramparā, i.e., Bhagavān Dev Purījī, Bhagavān Dīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī, and our beloved Satguru Dev. Our beloved Guru Dev, Swami Madhavānandjī Bhagavān, has a problem with drinking water. That water is divided into four parts: blue water, green water, grey water, and groundwater. Blue water is the pure water of rain. Green water is the water filled with algae. He comes in blue water. Listen to me. He comes in blue water, everywhere water, from summer to sun, from the rays of the sun, flows into the sky. It is called blue water. His government gave him a friend. You are the government; you voted for a good man, and he became a minister. But we are the ones who are spoiling the water. We are the ones who are not repairing the water pipes. Our pipes are running; the water is going somewhere. What should Ashok Gaīlot do? Or what should our other leaders do? It is not good to give a friend to a leader. Give a friend to yourself. So today we have decided that we will save as much water as possible. Did you understand or not? Our second decision today is that I have planted the Śānti tree in the Praṅgaṇa of Sahyuktārāṣṭra. It has become so famous that people have accepted it. Till today, I have planted 62 Śānti trees in different states, in different countries, in different big cities. So today, on the occasion of this Guru Pūrṇimā, all of us in the world, all of our followers, all of our followers of Yoga in Delhi Life, all of them have been encouraged. I am also telling you that we should plant as many trees as possible. But at least eleven trees should be planted by the next Guru Pūrṇimā. Now, wherever you plant—plant it in the forest, in the fields, in the house—plant it all together. Plant any type of tree, especially those trees which can be grown according to the environment of our nature. There is Khejṛī, Mīṭhā Bābūl, Bor kī Jhāṛ, Borī, Nīm, Kair. Plant these trees so that the rain can come back to our nature. So if you plant 11 plants, even if you plant seeds, even if you plant 11 saplings here and there, will it grow in the rain? And if you do more, it is a matter of even more happiness. Ten days before the next Guru Pūrṇimā, you have to send your paper, telephone, SMS, e-mail to Viśvadīp Gurukul that I have planted so many trees this year. In the whole world, where our students are in 180 countries, I have also encouraged them today. I have given the conclusion that they will also plant trees. So next year, see how many lakhs or how many crores of trees will be planted. This is our one plus point. We take this conclusion. The second thing is that we should clean our own house and in front of our own house. We should clean the tap. I know that when I was a child, my mother used to sweep the floor in front of our house. Even now, some women sweep the floor in the village. But in the cities, I don’t know what people do. And I still see that some children, and yesterday, the day before yesterday, there were five or six officers sitting. Where is the matter? I didn’t get the money from the bank. I didn’t get the money from the bank. I didn’t get the money from the bank, Ranabhārī. I am, I am Ranabhārī. Give me the darśana, give me the darśana of the Guru, your Yambilāṅgī. Āre, lagai āp kahan derī? Levo śudī āy kar merī darśan de met do pherī, darśan de met do pherī. Chaḍā main yādgārī hūn, darśan de bet do perī. Chaḍā main yādgārī hūn, dilāde bhik darśan kī, guru terā yabhilāśī. Dilāde bhik darśan kī, guru terā yabhilāśī. Āre bhakti kale yān yuṅgāve, Terā bidhar man bāve yon yuṅgāve, Terā didar man pa sarg yore mokṣa nai sāve, Sarg yore mokṣa nai sāve, Śaraṇ viṣay Rāmdhārī, Śaraṇ viṣay Rāmdhārī, Ilāde pika darśan kī guru terā abhilāṅsī. Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān kī Dev Purīśa Mahādev kī Satguru Swāmī Madhavān jī, Bhagavān kī, Bhagavān Śaṅkarācārya jī kī, Kapil Bhagavān kī, Bhagavān Vaiśa Vyāsa Muni Mahārāj kī, jo satsaṅg kā ānanda humeṁ milā hai, uskā koī pār hī nahīṁ hai. But in whose heart, in whose consciousness, he says that I live in a mountain of Khaṇḍa, a mountain of Egypt. What is that? How is it? It is very sweet. It is nectar. And where do you live? I live in the mountain of salt. He said that it is very sweet, very sweet, but we are happy in it. There is nothing more delicious than that. So, the lady of the mountain of Egypt, the lady of salt, says, "Sister, I invite you. Come with me, and I will taste the taste of your nectar." Okay, I will come. But what did she think? That he does not know the taste of the mountain of Egypt, what it is like? I will die of hunger. So he put two big sacks of salt in his mouth. If it is necessary, then I will eat. On going there, the lady of the mountain of Egypt says to him, "Now she is eating a piece of Miṣrī in her mouth," and she says that there is no difference in taste. The same salt is very tasty. So this lady says, how is it possible that this is Miṣrī? That sister, I am Satka. I will eat this taste in my mouth. Miṣrī did not come. Then she said, "Sister, open your mouth. What is inside?" When she saw it, she gave her two sacks full of salt. Then she said, "They threw it out, cleaned it, and then gave it to Miṣrī." Miṣrī said, "Oh ho ho ho, what a taste, what a taste! I was so blessed by tasting this taste." So, the one who comes to satsaṅg and brings a sack full of salt in his mind, they don’t have faith, so they felt bitter, they didn’t feel sweet. That’s why it is said that on Chandan Makhi, Durgandhi should fly away. In the temple, Panditjī was drawing sandalwood, and a fly came and sat on the sandalwood. In this much time, outside the temple, Panditjī’s child did tātrī there. Makhi chandan se to uṭ gayī, aur vahan maile pe jāke baiṭh gayī. Tab kisi ne kahā ki chandan makhi par hare aur durgandhi par uṭ jāye. Aise agyānī satsaṅg nahī sunāy, unge ke uṭ jāye. Yā to nīnd āyī, yā uṭ ke chalā jāyegā, yā bāte karegā. Because he has not yet got the color of satsaṅg in him. In the bhajan of Chandrā dī, Kabīr Dās jī, Raṅgrejā is said, "When my Chandrā came, I gave it to Raṅgrejā." Rangrejā gave me such a red color, who gives such a color to their heart with their knowledge of Amrit Bānī, that then no other color comes on them, and they don’t get tired. Thousands of people came in a day, but we all got tired of saying, "Sit quietly, sit quietly," but there is no problem, the matter is going on. But now, you are in a very peaceful state of mind. In English, it is called Pinsilent. Because there is a color of Satsaṅg in your heart. So friends, satsaṅg is unique to Devas. Devas also say that we have come to heaven by doing Kāraṇī. But after experiencing heaven, we will have to go back to 84. O God, please give us human life, so that we can do satsaṅg, do Guru Bhakti, and attain salvation. Because heaven is not salvation. Even in heaven, there is a limit of time. And Mokṣa is that which becomes a part of the Mokṣa and then becomes Brahmaleena. So when Mahāpuruṣa leaves the body, how can he go to heaven? The saints are always in heaven. The saints and the soldiers guard the world, and the inhabitants sleep like this. Our Guru Nānak Sāhib said, so, Ānand is ānand. So you have listened to bhajans very well. Our respected saint Kailāśpurījī Mahārāj is from Kharāḍī village. Earlier, you had heard a small child singing a nice bhajan. I had heard it. It was very nice. But I wanted to say that the satsaṅg has been going on since yesterday. That is, the satsaṅg has been going on for about 35 hours. But none of our foreign devotees have even touched it. You see, if you talk to them, you talk to them. Whereas they are not able to understand our language. Now I am saying something, and they are not able to understand. It is like this. I have seen my son. He says, "Oh father, what are you saying? It is good." Some say, "Look sir, father is saying, ’Daddy, how much up and down.’" He is sitting and counting. This is the thing. So, now I will speak in their language, because they came from so far away, so I will make them understand a little. Okay? So, don’t talk in between. Just like he is sitting, you and I are brothers and sisters. How are we brothers and sisters? In the same way, who was the disciple of Bhagavān Pārśurām? Bhagavān Pārśurāma said, "When I will take rest, Gurudev, you lie on my knee." Who was it? Karan, and there was a test going on. I was explaining to them the meaning of satsaṅg. Today, as we know, and the whole world knows, this full moon day is a very particular day. It is called Guru Pūrṇimā, symbol of the Gurudeva. And many saints were born on the full moon. Bhagavān Buddha was born on the full moon, and many others. On this day was born, or incarnated, Bhagavān Vedavyāsa. Ved Vyāsa Bhagavān was a great learned and knower of all the three times: past, present, and future. It is he who dictated the Vedas, all books, Vedas, Upaniṣads, Bhagavad Gītā, Śrīmad Bhagavad Gītā. All these are the works of Veda Vyāsa Mahārāj. It is said that those who have seen Lord Kṛṣṇa will be able to understand what the Gītā is. There is no doubt about it. So all these ancient scriptures were created, written, and spoken by Bhagavān Veda Vyāsa around 7,000 years ago, or more than that, 8,000. Bhagavān Rāma’s time was more than 10,000 years ago. So some say that from time to time, Vedavyāsa incarnates. So it was the ages before the Vedas were spoken. There are certain things. It’s called Śruti, Smṛti, Śrota, and Śrotriya. Śruti, Smṛti, Śrota and Śrotriya. Śrota is all who are listening. Jo śunare hai śrotāgaṇ. Guru Vakya, Guru Śabda, Guru Mukharabindh Sey. From Gurudeva’s mouth the words come. That’s called a preacher. Yes, he is the preacher. And when the word preacher comes in English, it means the Śrotriya. And listeners or followers are known as Śrotā. So, preacher and listeners, what we call the dialogue or the gospel of the master. So, what? The Śrotriya, who is speaking, listening—the Śrota, the listeners—the Śrotriya speaks from the memory. That’s called Smṛti. And therefore, disciples should never miss a half word of the Gurudeva, what he is speaking. Otherwise, there will be a gap. And where there will be a gap, we will make a mistake. In English, we used to say "misunderstood." What does misunderstood mean? There is an umbrella, and you are standing under the umbrella. Then the rain begins, and you moved away and got wet. That means, actually, you were not under the umbrella. You just missed it. Therefore, misunderstanding means that you did not listen carefully, you did not pay attention, you were not aware of that. Why? Because you draw your consciousness in another direction. Guru jī is speaking, and you are talking. Look what he is doing. Khudbhī, oneself also loses the attention and misguides others. Therefore, it is said in satsaṅg, if you speak to someone, you make the sin. And in our language in India we say, those who talk always in satsaṅg, in next life will be a frog. What a frog! In the second birth, one and a half will be born. We talk a lot in satsaṅg. And those who will sleep, in the next life will become a python. Or in the next life, the one who sleeps will become a tiger. And Tulsidās Mahārāj says that if someone talks in satsaṅg, he will have double, double sin. He himself remains deprived and also deprives others. So, the śrota receives the wisdom from the śrotriya, and that śrotriya speaks from the smṛti, i.e., memory. Now, how big is your memory? You know, we have the computers, we have the SIMs, we have the little stick. In just a little stick, thousands of books of the entire library were recorded. Nowadays, in English, they say, in Marwad, feed the animals. You can save my number on your phone. Feed means to feed the animals. Isn’t it right? Please feed my cow, feed my dog. I am going to a village tomorrow. If I am going to your house, and there is a dog in your house, please feed my dog. So in English, they will say, "Please feed my dog." So they will call you and say, "Do you have a dog?" So record it in English. So languages also become so strange. And research has been done that very good and many words of the English language are in India. The Indians have created more English words. It was researched. Because Indians have a lot of knowledge, knowledge. And they also improve their knowledge, anyhow. Therefore, in this Śrota. Smṛti. And that smṛti. Is the light of the Gurudev. Wisdom of the Gurudev. But slowly, slowly, we use the Kali Yuga comes, then the humans have their attention towards the desires of the material world. When you have more desires for something, then you lose a lot of your spiritual energy, spiritual concentration, and you will be misguided, you misunderstand, you don’t understand. It means definitely, it’s like that you share your time with other desires, and for that, you never know how many times you will come back and how many times you will misunderstand. Therefore, listen carefully. So, Ved Vyāsa, the Ved Vyāsa who, through his third eye, through his inner wisdom, he who spoke and wrote many, many scriptures, these are all, we Indians say, these are all the works of Bhagavān Vyāsa. Don’t you say so? Don’t you say that Bhagavān Veda Vyāsa’s works, Upaniṣads, Gītā, everything is there. Even here, it is believed that there were no Pāṇḍavas and no Kauravas, and there was no Mahābhārata. Yes, and there was no Kurukṣetra, Dharmakṣetra. There was no Kurukshetra, Dharmakshetra. This body is the Kurukshetra, and human existence and human qualities in this body are the dharma-kṣetra. So we are born in the battlefield of this world, but our body is the dharma-kṣetra, the field of dharma. Which kind of dharma? The human dharma. When the human desires, kāma, krodha, madhya, lobha, moha, ahaṁkāra, the first begins; this first begins from rāga. Rāga is something like a jealousy. Raga is something: why is he happy, why not I? Why does Swamiji support this person more, why not me? Raga is very, very gentle, very fragile, but it is said that the gentle is more powerful. A small, minor crack in a building is more dangerous than a big crack. A big one you can repair, but a minor one you cannot repair. So, this raga, there are two kinds of raga. One is the musical instrumental raga: morning raga, evening raga, noon raga, and so on. The other is the raga which is the negative, the roots of the negativity which awakes in our body. Where the rāga appears, the dveṣa, rāga or dveṣa, when the rāga and dveṣa come, then comes kāma, kāma-śakti. When the rāga-dveṣa-kāma comes, the krodha, and when krodha appears, comes ahaṅkāra’s ego, and when the ego comes. Then comes lobha, because you fight for the lobha, kāma-krodha-mada-lobha and moha, attachment, and you turn to the rāga. To clear up that rāga, you need the vairāgya. On the vairāgya, you cannot achieve Mahāprabhujī’s seed. So there is only one remedy against rāga, dveṣa, kāma, krodha, lobha, moha, ahaṁkāras. There is one remedy that is called vairāgya. And Mahāprabhujī said, "You cannot get vairāgya without satsaṅg." Without satsaṅg, you cannot get that color which I told in the beginning about Kabīr Dājī. So it is the satsaṅg. In the satsaṅg, you get that test. But you have to spit out all the salt. You have to make śaṁprakṣālaṇa, the purification of the negative energy. And that is smṛti. So, there are many people who have a good smṛti, memory, and some people put in their memory negativity. So, as I taught this afternoon, sustainability means the continuity, and in this continuity, we have to purify. The impurity and develop the purity, the quality in discontinuity, then you have the utility and facilities to get your sustainability of the self-realization; otherwise, not. So every feeling, even if you go half an hour, five minutes, to different feelings, that is a loss of your lifetime. When there is a 100-kilometer highway, there is no crossing road, and you drive 110 km speed, still you will not reach that in one hour, 100 km, because sometimes you slow down, again you go, and this is a very small speed slowing. Down, but more consume that time. So you think, "Doesn’t matter now, I can spend a little bit for my job." That is the last of the time idea. Therefore, it is said, one great soul very nicely said, "Abhāṃ mast huye Rām rase pī ke, Rām rase pī ke, moī lāge duniyā ke sab rase pī ke." So it is said, when you taste the juice, the nectar of God’s wisdom, then the worldly taste is tasteless. So, my dear ones, this is the Guru Pūrṇimā, also dedicated to Bhagavān Veda Vyāsa’s incarnation day. And those who will follow this Vyāsa’s preaching will also become like Vyāsa. And this seat, the holy seat where one, the preacher sits, where the Śrotriya sits, that seat is called Vyāsa Gāḍī. And what comes from Vyāsa Gadi comes only wisdom. Automatically, it is he who speaks within the preachers. Aisa mera Satguru Andhā Boleh. So I welcome you all to India for the Guru Pūrṇimā. Those who came from different parts of the world. And also, my dear brothers and sisters, spiritual seekers around the world. Who is with us now through this webcast? I pray to Almighty and send you the blessing of Alak Purījī Siddha Pīṭha for your spiritual development, good health, harmony, and peace. Be the Bhagavān, Deep Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī with you. Be the light of Gurudev with you. Follow the path of Guru Paramparā, that is the truth and sanātana and living, but it should be authentic. The water which enters into the Gaṅgā, that water is called Gaṅgā water, but that Gaṅgā water will flow out of the Gaṅgā after some meters, no one will say it’s the Gaṅgā water, it is the water of the street. So those who enter into the Gurudeva satsaṅg and listen to the wisdom of the Gurudev, they become themselves the Gurudev. And those who step out and go, then they have lost again everything. Mana sab khoya re kushang yo ke shang, jñāna dhyāna bhakti sab khoyi, or chal riyo kudhang. Therefore, satsaṅg is the greatest thing for humans to remain on that path of self-realization or God-realization. On this holy occasion, I bless you in the name of Alagpurījī Siddhapīṭha and wish you all the best. God bless you.
