The One in All and All in One

The oneness of consciousness is the foundation of yoga and existence. The endless universe, Ananta Brahmāṇḍa, emerged from Śūnyākāśa, a dark blue space containing cosmic consciousness. This consciousness resides within the universe as a child in the mother's womb, Hiraṇya Garbha. Yoga is the balancing principle creating harmony between space, consciousness, and power. It is not merely postures but the reunion of individual consciousness with the cosmic. From divine will arose the sound Aum, the form of the supreme. This resonance created the elements: fire, air, water, and earth. The one cosmic consciousness manifests in all 8.4 million creatures. Human intellect is a powerful tool that requires education in tolerance, respect, and understanding to realize human qualities and rights. Life is a cycle, a recycling or reincarnation of consciousness on the waves of time, where destiny is shaped by the self.

Our great master used to say, "One in all and all in one." I would like to speak about Kuṇḍalinī and how everything began. This will also become the subject of yoga. Of course, yoga is the first. Kuṇḍalinī Yoga is one chapter of yoga in the ancient literatures, which is among the oldest we find in humanity. This literature is called the Vedas. Veda means knowledge. It is a science of the entire universe. Whatever we discover now, everything is written in the Vedas. All this modern technology, what they have founded or developed, is already spoken of in the Vedas, symbolically, in a different way. It is said, "Ananta Brahmāṇḍa Sahasra Sūryas." From this point, I will begin. Ananta Brahmāṇḍa: the endless universe. We don’t know where the universe begins and where it’s ending. Ānanda, beyond our limitation. Sahasra Sūryas: the thousands of sun systems in this universe. In the very beginning, it is called Śūnyākāśa, the space completely empty—a dark blue, blue, dark blue space. Within this resides the cosmic consciousness or universal consciousness, which is residing in this endless universe. There is no empty space without that consciousness. Now, this symbolizes two things. The universe as a mother, the Śakti, Mother Śakti, the mother principle. And that consciousness is like the child which is residing—not dormant—residing in the lap of the mother or in the mother’s womb, which we call Hiraṇya Garbha, the golden womb egg. Now we are in this time, which is the Eastern time. In Christianity, we believe, we remember God on Friday. It’s not a Good Friday. It was called God’s Friday. Somehow, people who couldn’t speak slowly, slowly, it became Good Friday. It’s not a Good Friday; it is God Friday, to remember on this day when Lord Jesus was crucified. And at the same time, we have the egg. This egg is, again, like the universe. And within the egg, what life is, that is consciousness. That life doesn’t die. You will not die. Jesus did not die. It’s just the body, not that divine spirit. Space and consciousness both are balanced perfectly, so there’s a third principle that is called the balancing principle. And that balancing power is called yoga. So now, I don’t know how old yoga is. You may guess how old yoga is. Yoga is not physical postures. Yoga is not a breath technique. Yoga is not meditation. Yoga is not relaxation. These are the techniques in order to get the perfect balance between body, mind, emotion, intellect, memory, our thoughts, and so on. If there is a disbalance between body and mind, then our life becomes complicated. Balance in our body functions, gland systems, organs, circulations—everything is balanced. Who is balancing that? There must be some power which is not visible to our eyes, but it is there. And that balancing principle is yoga. Where there is a balance, there is harmony. So, in order to harmonize body, mind, consciousness, intellect, emotion, and so on, we used to have some exercises. So here, yoga means harmony, and where there is harmony, there is oneness or unity. So finally, what you read in the yoga books... Literally, it is said yoga means union, but the union of the individual consciousness with the cosmic consciousness. Our consciousness is part of that cosmic consciousness, and therefore, the practice of yoga means the reunion—not the union, but reunion. In that endless space where the cosmic consciousness is residing, there is a fourth principle or tendency within that consciousness. It is called "eko’haṁ bahu syām": I am one, now I will multiply myself. That is called That tendency we call the will power, the divine will, God, or divine—"Thy will be done." That divine will has no desires like material desires. What we have is a different will. So, out of that will, when it awakes, that which awakes or is awoken, they said, through the sound resonance in yoga. They, through meditation or through achieving the higher consciousness, declared that sound is Aum. You know about Aum. We will come, during these five days, in detail about Aum also, Oṁ Nāda. So in the Vedas it is said, "Nāda rūpa para brahma," the form of the supreme. If you want to know the form of God, that universal God, the universal consciousness, it has not formed a physical form like me or you or some different creatures, but that’s only the sound resonance. And that sound is everywhere throughout the whole universe. Every atom has that eternal sound that resonates within. And everything begins to create out of that sound, which means first the elements. Ākāśa, the space, which is, it is, it will be. Within this ākāśa, through that divine Śakti power in the consciousness—the space, consciousness and Śakti, the power—the first element which was created is the fire element. Through that resonance, after the fire, the air element. After the air element comes the water element, and the fourth one is the earth element. Not only our planet, but then countless stars, thousands of the sun systems, everything is created by one consciousness, that is cosmic consciousness. And we are now on our planet. We belong to this sun system, so we come to this, on this planet. The creator has created 8.4 million different creatures. That creator, you may call God or Mother Nature. If you believe who is the creator, then... According to that, it must not be that I tell you to believe in Brahmā, or a holy father, or Mother Nature, or some different principle. It doesn’t matter what you believe, but at least you should believe this: that yes, you are here today as a human. Are trees there, are mountains there, are other creatures there? At least this you believe: 8.4 million different creatures, divided in three categories: jalaj, sthala j, and nabha j. Creatures which live in the water, creatures on the earth, and creatures in the space. In civilized and modern systems, in human politics, to protect the boundaries, we have three armies: navy, ground force, and air force. All systems that humans have developed are coming from very ancient thoughts. As the respected deputy mayor told about the people who used to live and who are living, the original people of this country. Their culture, their spirituality, their ceremonies are very high, but lost. A lot of knowledge is lost, unfortunately. But whatever remains, we shall try to preserve this. It’s very important. Out of these 8.4 million different creatures, one is the human only. The scientists have proved now there is no different races. There is only one race, and that is human. So I came to this point again, you see, we are there again. Out of 8.4 million, caurāsī, lākh, jīvajantu, one is human. This is one race, and that one race is the human. There is no difference between humans and other creatures from the higher level, if we see from the point of view. Because in them and in humans is the same truth, the same light of God. So our great master used to say, "One in all and all in one." The one moon is reflecting in every pond, river, ocean, cup, and everywhere where there is water, you will see the moon. But there are not so many moons in our solar system; this is one. Similarly, the one God, one consciousness, one reality, one light is in every creature. And everyone is connected to that one. But the human has got a very powerful tool, and that powerful tool is the intellect. Human intellect can be developed endlessly. Also, human intellect can be manipulated, buddhi. And that’s why human life becomes more divine through education. We can also educate birds, dogs, cats, and all other different creatures. We can educate them to some limit. But human intellect can be educated limitlessly. Manipulate the human intellect. For example, terrorist—I don’t know whom you call the terrorist. When you speak to a terrorist, they will say, "Yes, there are many other terrorists, not we." They don’t accept the thieves, the smugglers, or the words what you use, the mafias or person who is taking drugs. They lose the motivation of their life. Their buddhi, their intellect, is getting limited and narrow-minded, one-sided, and in spirituality and in religion becomes fanatic. So it’s very important in life to educate ourselves. With tolerance, respect, and understanding—these three points I have given. There was a conference organized at the United Nations building in New York in 2000, the millennium, for leaders, spiritual and religious leaders, from time to time. They were Johannesburg, the Earth Charter Conference. I gave the three points: understand, respect, and tolerate. Respect every culture, understand every country’s situation, and tolerate every religion. Every child says, "My mother is the best mother in the world." So, which mother is not the best mother? Every child says. So this is a training, an education. And here for me, education is not the school education, not the college or the university education. The education which we get from the parents, from the friends, that knowledge, that education which makes us human, to know the human qualities. If we will know the human qualities, then we will realize what it means to be a human. Then the values of the human life are the human qualities, and when we will know the values of the human qualities, then easily we can practice human rights. Otherwise, it is difficult to understand what is human rights, and many are abusing the human rights. The human body is the one now; it is said in Indian mythology, also in Tibetan and Buddhist, and it is a circle, a cycle of rebirth and death where the 8.4 million different creatures, the consciousness is developing. Buddha said after his realization of enlightenment before, he was the Siddhartha, the Prince Siddhartha, and when he got enlightenment, the knowledge, Buddha, buddhi, then we call him the Lord Buddha. And he said when he got enlightenment, he traveled through his old past lives till the stone. How the consciousness begins to develop from the stone until the human consciousness and higher consciousness. So this is just a circle, coming and going; we call it rebirth, reincarnation. In the spiritual language, we call it reincarnation. In normal language, we can say rebirth. Now, again, I am coming to this point. If we believe in reincarnation or we don’t believe, that doesn’t make a difference. Dear brothers and sisters, you know that truth cannot be changed. No philosophy, no religion, no mentality, no culture, and no nation can change the truth. Truth will remain ever truth. That evidence never dies. So that’s called reincarnation. And again, I come to the modern words or the modern language. They took this word, what we call recycling. Do you believe in recycling or not? If you believe in recycling, then where’s the problem in believing in reincarnation? Because this recycling is more in the physical world, and that you can see easily. But those who have that consciousness, they see also how reincarnation is, the circle of life is coming and going. Ananta, endless. In this endless universe, on the waves of time, the individual is fluttering. Every individual has their destiny, and destiny is caused by the individual self. Kuṇḍalinī Yoga is a play of your destiny in your consciousness.
