Satsang With Swamiji

The divine incarnates to protect righteousness and remove unrighteousness when humanity cannot master its situations. Incarnations are of two types: the eternal presence of saints and the periodic divine manifestations. God employs all means, including punishment, to operate upon the negative forces. Unrighteousness is a powerful negative quality within individuals, often hidden behind a human facade. Divine justice may delay but never fails, as seen when the light descended to free the world from devilish energies. The supreme reality is the immortal Atman, present in every atom of the universe and in every being. Realizing this Atman is the ultimate purpose.

"Bhagavān comes, dharma kī rakṣā karne kī liye."

"Satyaṁ eva jayate. Those who follow the path of Satya, finally, their victory will be there."

Part 1: The Descent of Light: On Krishna's Incarnation and Divine Will O Śrī Kṛṣṇa Govinda, Hare Murārī, He Nātha Nārāyaṇa Vāsudeva. Śrī Kṛṣṇa Govinda Hare Murārī, He Nāth Nārāyaṇa Vāsudeva. Śrī Kṛṣṇa Govinda Hare Murārī, He Nāth Nārāyaṇa Vāsudeva. Śrī Kṛṣṇa Govinda Hare Murārī, He Nātha Nārāyaṇa Vāsudeva. Śrī Kṛṣṇa Govinda Hare Murāri, He Nātha Nārāyaṇa Vāsudeva. Shree Krishna Govind Hare Murari, He Nath Narayan Vasudeva. Good evening to everyone, dear spiritual seekers, bhaktas, blessed selves. Jai Shri Krishna. Today is a very auspicious day, the day of the incarnation of Universal Consciousness, Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa. There are two kinds of incarnations: Nitya and Nimitta. Nityāvatāra is called Chalte Firte Tīrtha Sant; the saints are Nityāvatāra in this world. Nimitta avatāra comes every yuga, yuge yuge śāmbhavai. Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa tells Arjuna, "Time to time, I manifested myself through my yoga māyā." Shama is time. Shama does not wait for anyone. Time does not wait for anyone. It does not matter who is who. Even Bhagavān Rāma, Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa, Bhagavān Buddha, Narasiṁha Avatāra, Varāha Avatāra, Vāmana Avatāra—there are twenty-four incarnations according to the Sanātana Dharma. And from these 24 incarnations, one of them is Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa. My dear, why does God himself have to come from that Veṅkuṇḍa or Śivsāgar, the ocean of nectar? It is when we in the mortal body cannot manage, master, and guide the situations. That time, he has to come. He has to use all the techniques: śam, dam, daṇḍ, everything, even sometimes punishment. Therefore, Bhagavān, always God, has his hands in blessings, givings, as well as the weapon. Sudarśana Cakra or archery are different. Bhagavān Pūrṣurām—Pūrṣu means axe. When the disease is so far advanced, then the surgeon has to take in his hands the instruments to cut off a certain part of the body. Though it is a very dear part of the body God gave us, at the same time, now it is out of order, you cannot master it anymore; therefore it has to be operated. So God comes to operate the operation of the negative adharma. He is coming to protect the dharma and remove the adharma. Adharma, or the negative, the Rākṣasī Śakti, is also mighty. But we call it little but powerful. One stupid person can damage more than a wise one, because a wise one will not damage. So the stupidity, the rākṣasa śakti, is in their vṛttis. Guṇa se manuṣya hai, guṇa se deva hai, aur guṇa se īśvara hai, aur avaguṇa se rākṣasa hai, avaguṇa se dhanava hai, etc., etc., guṇa aur avaguṇa. Guṇa is a quality. Our guṇa is a bad quality. The human quality makes the human, the spiritual quality makes the saint, the divine quality makes the god. And negative dark qualities make the devils. The body looks the same. As long as you did not speak, you were the wise, and when you spoke, we know how wise you are. There is a kind of film made, a very nice film, interesting, I would say. This film is done in Scotland, in Edinburgh, the story of the vampires. And from some castles from somewhere, Romania or Bulgaria or somewhere, okay? But they call it Dracula. The Dracula comes and mixes with the humans. Nobody knows; he looks like a human. But when Dracula smiles, then you will see his teeth, they are different. And they are hidden, like elephants have two kinds of teeth, two outside, but for biting is inside. So the people, they are friendly, nice, smiling outside, but inside they have all the Rākṣasī vṛttis, and they can destroy more and more. But it is said, "Bhagavān ke ghar deher ho saktā hai, andher nahī̃." It can happen that God may take time, but definitely he will not come, he will not let go. If we see Dātyācāra, the evil deeds of Kaṁsa, what Kaṁsa was doing. He didn’t respect his friends. He didn’t respect his parents. He didn’t respect his sister, etc. All ego, all ego. And what he said, I tell you, that is the truth. How much he disturbed and tortured his own sister, putting her in prison. Because he was thinking that his enemy would be born through his sister. And he said, "No bamboo, no flute means no noise." I will put my brother-in-law and my sister in prison. I was torturing them. They got it, but that time Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa, because he was already preparing, there were few reasons for why Kṛṣṇa or God had to come. And that time the light appeared, midnight. So that constellation, exactly that time, that month—according to the moon astrological calendar, it is today at midnight. Our time will already be morning here. It is about six hours different, so here, everywhere we are thinking it was midnight, but the exact time was according to the Indian time in Mathura, in Gokul, where God Kṛṣṇa was born. Well, therefore, Bhagavān comes, dharma kī rakṣā karne kī liye. Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa said, "I come to protect all my bhaktas or sādhus, santo kī rakṣā ke liye main wapas ātā hoon," Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa. So today is that day when again the light was descending on this beautiful Mother Earth. It awoke the consciousness, made all free from the devil energies, and all again found the sanātana, satya sanātana dharma. Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa said, "It doesn’t matter through which road you will go, ultimately I will be there at your destination. Finally, I am there." That is called divine law, divine words, what we call the Guru Vākya. That is eternal, the truth, the one. Satyaṁ eva jayate. Those who follow the path of Satya, finally, their victory will be there. Who knows Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa? Everyone knows, around the world. Unfortunately, in Kali Yuga, many different religions develop. Those developed religions are known as man-made religions. But there is one religion; it is Sanātana Dharma. And Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa said, "Hey Arjuna, I live in every creature, and all are my part, my relatives, my Sanātana." So Arjuna had a doubt sometimes, "Bhagavān, how should I know that you are God?" Always, you say this, this, this. Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa said, "Arjuna, the difference between you and me is this. I know everything, and you don’t know. I know past, present, future, all, and you don’t know. I know who I am, and I know what you are." Arjuna said, "Lord, it’s easy. Anyone can say this. I want to see Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa," said Arjuna. "It’s better you see me as your good friend. I am like your Sakha, your friend, or your master, your guru, or your God." He said, "Yes, Krishna, what I want to see, but you said you are this and you are that." Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa again told him, "Hey Arjuna, when you will see my reality, you will run away. You will not digest what I am. Therefore, it is good that you see me." "Well, either you don’t want to show me or you can’t. You just tell me. I want to see my Lord. If you are, then what is Kṛṣṇa?" Then Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa said, "Arjuna, look to me." And what? Virāt Svarūpa, Virāt Svarūpa Bābā Kṛṣṇa, the body, like it was disappearing. Each and every atom of his body was out in lightning, sparkling. It became a universe, an entire galaxy. Then all, Brahma, Vishnu, Shiva, all in. Then all Rākṣasas, then all Devas, all incarnations, fire, Vulcan, flood, hurricanes, and what not. Virat Arjuna was trembling. "Hey Kṛṣṇa, hey Kṛṣṇa, hey Murāri, hey Gopāl, hey Priya, kṛpā karke mujhe toh vahī svarūp batāye vāpas. Oh God, please be so merciful and come to me as you were a beautiful human form. I cannot understand that you can be like that, and I don’t know what to do." Again, Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa came in his normal form, smiled, and blessed. "Arjun, I told you, to know my Virat form and myself, you will not understand, my dear. So, better just sit near me and listen, and do what I am telling. I am that Ātmā, and you are all that. So to enter into someone, you must have that energy, love, viveka, and strength to understand. Therefore, as long as you did not know, it was good. And when you came to know, now you are frightened." We go to the temple, we go to the church, we go to the ashram, and we stand in front of Bhagavān, Mahāprabhujī, Devapurījī, or Kṛṣṇa, or Jesus, whomever you believe, and say, "God, please help me, come to me, tell me. I don’t want anything in this world, Lord. I am yours. Take me, take me, Lord." Mahāprabhujī walked down. "Come, my son, we go." "No, I didn’t mean this. I don’t want Mahāprabhujī. Remain where you are sitting. I didn’t mean like that." So he said, "What do you mean? You want to speak only to the photo?" He said, "Come, please, help me. I am yours, take me." And when he takes... "No, I didn’t mean the ulal." So this is the weakness of humans. On one side we would like, on the other side we don’t want. We want to remain as ourselves. We don’t want to lose, but we want to enjoy their energy and their blessings. So Bhagavān said, Bhagavān Dīpna and Mahāprabhujī said, the destiny, the kiśmat, the luck, there is a luck, there is a kiśmat, there is a called bhoga, and bhoga has different meanings. Also, when we offer the food, prasāda, to the altar, bhoga dāna, bhoga lagānā, "O Bhagavān, O Gurudeva, first you eat and then give us the prasāda." That’s what we call the holy prasāda. Bhoga dāna, bhoga lagānā. Then there is a call, "bhoga," which means to enjoy. Enjoy anything that you see, that’s mine, and I enjoy it. And sometimes you get, but you can’t enjoy it. Now, you have a desire to do it. Someone brought you a very nice sweet, a different kind of sweet. Today is Krishna’s birthday. There is a big tray of different sweets, and everyone is eating and enjoying. And you take just a little, because I am diabetic. You have, but you can’t. Because in your destiny, in your destiny, that is not there. You work hard to earn money, money, money. You have money, you have a car, you have houses, you have property, many things. But you live like a caretaker. Because tumhārī kismat mein voh bhog likhā huā nahī̃ hai. How can you do? And someone doesn’t have, but whatever he has, he gives and leads the life. I don’t know how the king is living, but say the kingly life. Free, free, no icchā, no icchā. And we all have icchā. Ichchā means desire. So one day, one day, Bhagavān Śiva and Pārvatī, like this weather was called, raining, little, little, called wind, lightning, wellington, and Śiva and Pārvatī, evening, about night at 11 o’clock, went for a walk. When husband and wife go walking at 11 o’clock, it means they have had enough of the house. They got to get a little good fresh air, Pārvatī and Śiva. There was a small village, outside of the village there was a graveyard, a cemetery. And there is what you call the crematorium, where people used to burn the dead bodies. Someone died, and they put a lot of wood. They burn that time sandalwood. If you were rich, you get sandalwood, and like this wood, how much? About one truck. So they put the wood and that, the corpse. Was burned there, they all went away. Fire was there, raining, getting fire was getting dim. Parvati said, "Lord, it is cold, and look, there’s a fire. Let’s go, warm our hands a little bit." Shiva said, "My dear, that fire is not for you, still. It is time will come." She said, "What do you mean?" He said, "Let’s go walk." They came near, about 100 meters, 150 meters. They saw suddenly, in such cold air, one man sitting and making his thick chapatis, out there cooking or making his chapati. Also, with the piece of wood or his iron, Pārvatī stopped, "My lord, who is that?" Bhagavān Śiva said, "That is Mahāyogī, Yogyā, Kaviyogī, Yogendra, Yogendra." And what is he doing? He is preparing his dinner. Where? Bhagavān Śiva said, "This is a..." Graveyard, and someone burned the dead body, and so he has no other possibility, so he is making his food here. But Pārvatī was so sad and said, "Lord, I can’t understand you. Say, why? No, I will not go with you. So why? What happened? You are the Lord of the universe, and you provide everyone so many things, and he is your great bhakta, great bhakta. Day and night he’s saying, 'Om Namah Śivāya, Om Namah Śivāya,... Om Namah Śivāya.' And you don’t give him the facility to cook his meal? And look, the people gambling in the big cities and this and that. They have big villas and many properties, and this and that, and all the time dancing and that. They never think of you, Śiva. They are dancing to music, some different kind of song. They don’t say, 'Namaḥ Śivāya, Namaḥ Śivāya.' I can’t understand. You give them that so much, and he, please give him something, at least a little heart." Bhagavān Śiva said, "Pārvatī, I want to give him, but he doesn’t want." "You men always try to find excuses, but we women have a heart of the mother and this. I want that Lord to provide him in front of me, to make him a miracle, to make him a big ashram suddenly." Shiva said, "My dear, he does not want." She said, "In this Kali Yuga, in this world, who doesn’t want? Who doesn’t want? It doesn’t matter who is who; even a mentally ill one, you go and say, 'Five kilos of gold here for you,' immediately they will take it." Śiva said, "Okay, triya hatha, bala hatha, triya hatha, rāja hatha, and yoga hatha." These are the four kinds of haṭha which you cannot defeat. Bala hatha, the will of the child: when a child wants to decide to have something, it will cry and do this and that until the parent’s heart melts and gives in, "Okay, you can have it." Bala hatha, triya hatha, the hatha of the women. When women decide to do something, the husband has no chance, no chance. And if he says no and this, then he has not a good constellation. There are three stages of a man: before the wedding, during the marriage, and after the divorce. These are the three stages of the man, and the Śakti is sitting all the time, divine, because it is a blessing of the mother, divine. Bhagavān Śiva said, "Pārvatī, stay here behind the bush, the tree-like we planted yesterday, the beautiful philodendron. Yeah, philodendron bush, beautiful with the bludgeons. I will go and give him everything. My dear one, my beauty, what you want to tell me, so I give him." The yogī was sitting, and he was making big... Anumanjī wrote her chapati thick, big, and very nicely, slowly. Shiva came, standing in front of the yogī, and he, the yogī, didn’t look to see who was there. Shiva said, but the yogī didn’t pay attention. Again Shiva said, "Oṁ Satya Brahma." He didn’t look up. Then Shiva said, "Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya." He was making his chapati. He was not afraid of anything. Nirbhaya. Bhaya and Nirbhaya. Bhaya is scared, fear. Nirbhay is above any kind of fear. Even the tiger will come and attack, he will not react. Therefore, when the little spider comes, the Australian black spider here, Swami, Swami, please, then everybody will come and do something. Nirbhay will not do, and to that, Nirbhay and the animals will do nothing. That bird can sit on the head, the shoulder, or the back of the lion or the tiger, but the bird will not dare to sit on the shoulder of humans, because humans have such a negative radiance. We humans, we said we are the best. Of course, who will not say we are the best? The crocodile said, "We are the best." The shark said, "No, no, we are the biggest creatures in the ocean, and we are the best. But look where?" Bhagwan Śiva said, "Oh! Yogi, I thought I shall answer him something." Yogī said, "Who are you?" And Pārvatī is listening, behind the bush. "Who are you?" "Svayambhū Ṣaḍaśiva." Bhagwan Śiva was thinking, "Now he will say, 'Oh my lord, oh my lord.'" He was looking to see how the chapati is true or not. "Do you know what I said?" He said, "Yes." "I am Swayam Bhushara Śiva, Trilokī Nāth, the Lord of the entire universe, the first one in the creation. All Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Devī, Devtā, all are created by me," the yogī said. "Why did you come here? Why did you come here? Trilokī Nāth, the lord of the universe. What are you seeking here? Because you meditate on me all the time." But he said, "I never invited you. I never said to you, 'Come, Bhagavān.'" Then Pārvatī is listening, and she is saying. Then, when the lady is nervous, she bites her nails or does like this. And man is nervous, then he is making his tie like this. Okay, anyhow, I am happy and pleased with you, and therefore I want to give you something. Bhagavān Śiva said, "I want to give you something." Yogi didn’t look to him even. He was happy to look, his chapati is through or not still. He said, "When did I ask you to give me something? Go to a big city, there are many beggars sitting, gambling, and doing this and that, and looking, 'Which business should I make, and my market, and this and that?' They are beggars; they won’t go and give them." Parvati was, she wanted to run and take Śivjī back, and let’s go, my dear. But she also doesn’t, because the dialogue, the picture was such that no interference can be. Bhagavan, she was inside, very little bit, how do you say, not burning, but embering. Bhagvān Śiva said, "My bhakta, hey Yogeśvara, hey Yogendra, hey Yogī Rāj, my salutation to you, but I want to tell you that whenever I manifest, I come, I give something. Ask anything." He said, "Okay, if you want to give me something, then please go away." Niricha nirvāṇa main merā nijāpa hū tatva masī nirmoya kartā hū main vandanā merī mujhko hoī. Therefore, say nirbhaya, bhai, aur nirbhaya. Therefore, Gurujī said, "Tere Satgurū kī lāja cintā mat, cintā mat karnā, nirbhaya raho, niśaṅka." Where Gurudeva protects you. It doesn’t matter. Don’t be afraid. You are ātmā. They don’t know you, and they want to know only maybe your negative parts. Negative is also a creation of God. Yes? The asuras and devas are from one father, two stepmothers. Yes? So, this is always one, that’s why Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa saw, Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa said to Arjuna that my Virāṭ Svarūpa, when in every atom is God, then He is also in the Rākṣasas too. But God tried to control and vanish this negative and let the positive come back to the cosmic cause. Therefore, Nitya and Nimit Avatāra are coming to this life. Well, in 1935 or 1937, our beloved Satguru Dev, Indra Dharma Samrāṭ Śrī Svāmī Madhavānandjī, from his childhood, all the time he was praying and was a great bhakta of Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa. Great. And he heard that purity is very important. So he was preparing his own meal. He was only eight or nine years old, and he told his mother, "Whatever you cook for me is nectar, but please allow me to prepare my own meal." And you read the Līlā Amṛt: when all were sleeping, he got up and listened. If there is anywhere satsaṅg, he goes to listen to satsaṅg. Part 2: The Longing Heart and the Divine Meeting The parents were angry. "Where have you been?" Early in the morning, he returned home again, having only interrupted his sleep to go to Gurujī. Many times, parents would say, "Don’t go to satsaṅg," and so on. At night, there were no roads, no transport; one had to travel through desert, bushes, and wild animals. Yet, from the age of twelve to fifteen, Gurujī would go. He would rise at 11 o'clock—for in the village at that time, everyone slept early, at eight or nine. He would get up at ten, make a praṇām to his parents, and silently depart. Four or five kilometers away, he had heard a saint had come and was holding satsaṅg. He would stay until four in the morning. Then, as Gurujī said, he would run back home, bathe, and meditate. Afterwards, sleep would come. These are Gurujī's own words: sleep comes, and then meditate. During the day, working or learning; at night, going to satsaṅg, then a little sleep—one or two hours—and then meditating again. The body needs sleep, so Gurujī let his hair grow long. He tied it up and hung it with a rope so that he sat straight in meditation. If sleep came and his head dropped, the pull of the rope would wake him. There was a yogī who meditated at night on the branch of a banyan tree, above a big lake. If he slept, he would fall into the water. You see, tapasyā, puruṣārtha—this longing to achieve something, even for a little thing. He said, "I don’t like this. I don’t want you. I will change my opinion. It’s too much to do." I go, "Hey, what is that? Who are you? You have given everything to him." You are not there anymore. On the day you think, "Yes, I am the complete surrendered servant," then you will not think about yourself—what you are doing, eating, or where you are going. You become an instrument in His hands. "O Lord of the meek, the rope or the string of my life is in your hands. Lord, be merciful and move your fingers a little sometime, so that the string brings me close to you, like a puppet." God holds our destinies in everything He says. One day, Gurujī was sleeping at the age of sixteen or seventeen, and he had a dream. He writes in the Līlāmṛt that in the dream, God Kṛṣṇa came. Gurujī was always meditating on Kṛṣṇa. Krishna came and told him, "I will meet you on that day, at that time, in that place," and then vanished. Gurujī woke up—there was no Kṛṣṇa, nobody. "I will meet you on this day, at that time, there. Who? Who?" Love is the strongest fire. There is Vulcan's fire, you know how strong it is. Similarly, Viraha, Viraha Agni. Vulcan's fire can burn only physical things, but Viraha Agni burns everything through and through. That’s it. There are many kinds of fire. So Viraha is the love for God, for the positive. It bursts your heart. It breaks everything. Longing. Nothing is impossible. That’s it. What did Saint Francis of Assisi have? Vairāgya. What did Jesus have? Virāgiṇī. He wanted to throw away everything. He said, "No more." But the Father, again and again and again. There are many saints around the world. Those who are longing; others are only on the surface, playing. They are like pigeons coming to eat seeds. If someone just closes the window, all the flies are gone. Like these people coming to satsaṅg, sitting here—so many are sitting now. Next satsaṅg, who will be here or not? In the kingdom of Gurudev, nothing is missing; everything is there. Karmahīna—those who have not good karmas—wander here and there, once here, once there, because there is no real sevā done from the heart. Very soon, after a year, or some months, or two years, a saint came. His name was Bodhanandjī Mahārāj. He was a disciple of Bhagavān Dīpnā and Mahāprabhujī. Bodhanāndjī’s bhajan singing was so sweet, so good. To go to his satsaṅg, to listen to his bhajans, people walked at night for ten, fifteen kilometers to come, listen, receive blessings, and then go back. Gurujī also went to his satsaṅg at night. When Bodhānandajī saw and felt that this young man had some light, a divine light, and was ready to be enlightened, he told the holy Gurujī—our Swāmī Madhavānandajī, Bhagavān, Dīpanayan, Mahāprabhujī—about this. Gurujī said, "I don’t know, I cannot. I am Krishna’s bhakta. I am searching for him." Bodhānandajī said, "That’s what I want to show you—what you are searching for. Go to Jodhpur. In the Jodhpur palace, the Mahārājā has invited Mahāprabhujī to stay for four months during the rainy season, Cāturmāsa. Go to his satsaṅg. That’s all I can tell you, Gurujī." You know, when someone is very ill and is told, "Go there, your illness will be cured," they have no idea, nothing, but they will go straight there. If you are very thirsty and someone tells you where to find water, you will go straight to the water fountain, not to the alcohol shop. Oh, that’s also liquid, but to quench your thirst, you need pure water. Holy Gurujī walked. He left home. His parents were looking, "Where is he?" It was about a hundred, a hundred forty kilometers from his home to Jodhpur. Gurujī walked and arrived one evening around eight or nine o'clock, where Mahāprabhujī was sitting in satsaṅg. Mahāprabhujī got up and walked out of the satsaṅg, for he knew Gurujī was coming. Mahāprabhujī walked, and Gurujī came and bowed down. Mahāprabhujī said, "My son, child, get up. You remember? I came to you in the dream and said that day, that time, I will meet you." It was exactly that day and that time. Gurujī looked at Mahāprabhujī, and Mahāprabhujī was nothing but Kṛṣṇa. Gurujī writes this in the Līlāmṛt; you must read it, everyone. In the Gujarati Līlāmṛt, the Rukṣmaṇī Band has translated it into English. That is why, when Gurujī saw this, he said, "All my longing is finished. My journey stopped there, because I achieved my destination." My Gurudev and Mahāprabhujī—Gurujī followed Mahāprabhujī. There, where Mahāprabhujī stayed, was a bhakta who was a servant at the Mahārāja’s palace. The Mahārāja told this man, whose name was Devī Siṅghjī (he is still living, an elderly person, a very devoted soul), to perform sevā for Mahāprabhujī during this four-month period. The Mahārājas had a special bathtub made of copper, a big bathtub. One day, Mahāprabhujī told Devī Siṅgh, "Devī Siṅgh, fill the water in this bathtub; I want to bathe." He put about ten or fifteen buckets of water inside. Mahāprabhujī’s body was heavy, good, and solid. He held Devī Siṅgh’s hand and went to the bathroom—which was bigger, like this. Mahāprabhujī took off his shirt, wearing only his lungī, and held Devī Siṅgh’s hand. Devī Siṅgh was thinking, "When Mahāprabhujī sits in this bathtub, there will be no water because it will all spill out—such a small bathtub and such a heavy body." Mahāprabhujī came to know what he was thinking. Mahāprabhujī put one holy foot in the bathtub, and then the second. He changed his form, becoming a small child like a two- or three-year-old baby Krishna, playing with the water. You know how children play with water. For half an hour, Devī Siṅgh was paralyzed, a towel hanging in his hand. After the bath, Mahāprabhujī stood up and resumed the same form. He said, "Give me the towel." He took the towel, dried his body, and Mahāprabhujī smiled at him. They say you should trust. Such is the divine glory of Bhagavān Śrī Dīpnā and Mahāprabhujī. He is the Kṛṣṇa Jāṭav. He is Viṣṇu. But you have to know him. Otherwise, a diamond or pearl or ruby lies in the market; nobody takes it. But one who took it tied it in his or her sari and kept it. So the incarnation, Bhagavān Deepanarayan, Mahāprabhujī, is Kṛṣṇamaya; he is Kṛṣṇa. Therefore, Holy Gurujī sings bhajan for Mahāprabhujī also: "Swami Par Brahma Purushotam, Swami Par Bhajore Manva Sri Prabhu Deep, Bhajore Manva, Bhajore Manva Sri Pujya Deep Dayal." O my mind, O Bhaktas, meditate on Mahāprabhujī. Why? Par Brahma Purushottam Swami—He is Parabrahman, nirguṇ se saguṇ banāye, bhaktān ke hitkārī, Parabrahman Puruṣottama, Swami, and the best among humans. So, many, many glories of Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa. And you are all Kṛṣṇa, Svarūpa. Everyone in you is a Kṛṣṇa. Every newborn baby is a Kṛṣṇa. After the Kṛṣṇa, when you are born as a Kṛṣṇa, and you go into the hands of Māyā, then you become Tṛṣṇā. And tṛṣṇā is another kind of fire. Trishnā means desire: "I want to have this, I want to have this, I want to have this." Once, a king always invited sādhus and wanted to know who was a real sādhu. When sādhus came, the king would ask questions. Once Swamiji came, and after ten days of satsaṅg, the king thought this Mahārāja Swāmī must be a Brahmajñānī. He asked, "Swamiji, I have a question if you can answer me." Swamiji said, "Yes." "What is something which is here? You have it here, but he does not have it there. The second one, he has nothing here, but everything is there. The third one has here everything, and there also everything. And the fourth, he has here nothing and there nothing." The Mahatma said to the king, "Do you want a practical answer or a theoretical one?" The king said, "Practical would be very good, sir." So he brought a businessman. "Look, he has everything. He has so much money. He gives donations to the needy and temples, and he will have the same there also. He is a Dharamātmā." Then he brought a kanjus—how do you say the word "kanjus"? A miser. He had a lot of properties, money, but giving money to someone? "I would rather lose my skin than my money. So look, he has everything here, but there he has nothing." Then he brought a mahātma, a sādhu, who was always meditating, doing sevā, serving ashrams. "Look, he has no money, no properties, nothing. But he does so much Śiva; he has a kingdom there. After death, he has everything." Then he brought a beggar, a hunter. "Look, he hunts poor animals and eats. He has nothing here, and there also will be nothing." Therefore, without giving, without doing, even God will not give you. It is said, even without crying, your own mother will not feed you with milk. The child has to cry; then the mother will come, take it in her lap, and feed the child. That’s right. Instead, we have to ask God. So today, my dear, on the day of the incarnation of the divine consciousness, the universal light, Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa, we pray to Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa to be in our body. We should all become Kṛṣṇamaya. Kṛṣṇamāyā means we are also Kṛṣṇa. That’s why it is said: "Śivo’haṁ Śivo’haṁ..." I am Shiva. Shiva means Ātmā. Shiva means Consciousness. Shiva means the Highest. Shiva... "Śivo’ham, śivo’ham, śivo’ham. Vahī ātmā saccidānand mehu, vahī amar ātmā saccidānand mehu." Sat, cit, ānand. Sat means the truth, chit means consciousness, and ānand means bliss. "Śivo’ham, śivo’ham, śivo’ham." And what did he say then again? "Akhil viśva kā jo paramātmā hai, akhil viśva kā jo paramātmā hai, sabhī prāṇiyoṁ kā vahī ātmā hai." Akṣaya viśva, akhila viśva—the whole world. I am the ātmā of the whole world, and that. Ātmā is also the ātmā of every entity. "Vahiyātmā Saccidānandamayoḥ Śivo’ham Śivo’ham." When you get Self-realization, this bhajan will come in your heart, in your consciousness, and in your blood circulation: Ātmā. What he said further: "Amar ātmāhe maraṇ se lakaj, Amar ātmāhe maraṇ se sabhī tanīyam, Amar ātmā se siddhānand me ho, Amar ātmā se siddhānand me ho." Ātmā amar hai, maraṇ śīl kāyā. The Ātmā is immortal. The dying is the body. "Amar ātmā hai, maraṇ śīl kāyā. Sabhi prāṇiyoṁ ke jo bhītar samayā." In every living being, that ātmā resides. "Vahī ātmā saccidānanda meṁ hūṁ. Jise śāstra kāṭe na agni jalāve, jise śāstra kāṭe na agni." And so Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa also said in the Gītā: No weapon can cut or destroy that Ātmā. Fire cannot burn it; no elements can destroy it; air cannot dry it; and death cannot take it away, because that is Ātmā. Mahāprabhujī said, "Even death doesn’t dare to come to that one, because he will digest that death also." "Kāl kā bīhār karte hain vo." In the stars, in the planets, everywhere is his brightness, his light, sparkling. Also, the moon and sun are lighted by that Ātmā that is you—even you give light to the sun. Ātmā. Not this body, yes. Not this Mr. Mohan and Divya Purī and this Gajānanda and Pajānanda and Gyānānanda and Dyānānanda, Ānanda and Panda—there’s a Panda. "Ānanda Kekvandako kyā hogayā daṇḍa, kyā karte ho kaṇḍa." Not this, but Ātmā. That’s why all ṛṣis concentrate on realizing the Ātmā. "Arre, you are Ātmā, why are you afraid? Have a dhyāna of the Ātmā. If you have some illness, put your hand there and say, 'I am the Ātmā, Prabhudeep Niranjan, sab dukha bhanjan,'" and it removes your illnesses. Swami Vivekananda, after traveling the world, came for the darśan of his Gurudev, Paramahaṁsa Ramakrishna, in Calcutta. It was winter, and Ramakrishna was lying in the sun. He had cancer on his neck, and mucus was coming out. Vivekananda, a young man, young blood, looked at his Gurujī, and doubt arose: "My Gurudev, lying like this, helpless? I was thinking he’s my God, he can do everything." But still, he made a praṇām. Paramahamsa Ramakrishna knew what he was thinking. Ramakrishna opened his eyes, smiled, and said, "Vivek, beta, my son, bahut acchā kyā tum āge. It’s very nice, good that you came." One letter writes Yukteśvar to Paramahaṁsa Yogānanda: "Mere hirde ke dulare." What do you say in English? "Mere hirde ke dulare." O my dear son, my heart is a cradle for you. That is the love of the Gurudev. You have to realize. Paramahansa Ramakrishna said, "Vivek, you lost your vivek. Itanā bhī viśvās nahī̃ hai tere par. Not even that much confidence. Vivek, if I want, I will put my hand here and the cancer will disappear. But I know if I do this, I will have to come again in a body to go through this karma. Therefore, better in this life, forget it, finish. I am Satchitānanda Ātmā." Then Vivekānanda halted and said, "Gurudev, kṣamā karnā, forgive me, Gurudev. I did not understand you. To understand your Guru is the greatest blessing." So what did he say? The one who is present in every atom of the universe is the one who is present in every atom of the universe. In all the three worlds, no one can destroy him. It is your ignorance that you will destroy. What will you destroy? You will destroy yourself. A madman takes dust in his hands and says, "Oh son, I don’t like you," and throws the dust on you. The son smiles because it will fall again on you. That Ātmā—what can you do? Therefore, don’t be afraid. "Yahī jñāna yā Arjuna ko hari ne kyā sunā yā vahī yatam ātma-cidānandamayo amarāya siddhānanda mehu śivo’ham śivo’ham... Nārāyaṇa Bhagavānakī Dev Purīṣa Mahādeva Kṛṣṇa Kanayālālākī." Ajara or Amara is Anajanma—who did not take birth, and he will not die. Who is not born cannot die. Ajara or Amara, which the Vedas also sang, which they explained and glorified in the Vedas. And this knowledge, this knowledge, Kṛṣṇa taught to Arjuna. What? "Vahī Ātmā, Sacchidānand me hūn. Vahī Kṛṣṇa hai, and vahī hum āp sabhī hai. Humārī Ātmā ko socho, Ātmā kā darśan karo." Try to get realization of the Ātmā and don’t fall into the dirt of this worldly māyā. For what are you born as a human, my dear? So on the divine occasion of Janmashtami, Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa’s Śubhāvatāra—the incarnation day—and this week, I pray to Lord Bhagavān Dīpna and Mahāprabhujī Kṛṣṇa Svarūpa Devapurījī and Holy Gurujī also, because Mahāprabhujī gave the Kṛṣṇa light into the Holy Gurujī’s name, and therefore Mādhava. It is also the name of Krishna, so it is called Madhav Krishna Namaha, Madhav Krishna Namaha mantra, hey maha mantra: "Om Prabhu Madhav Krishna Nama, Om Prabhu Deep Madhav Krishna Nama, never lagadi again, Om Prabhu Deep Madhav Krishna Nama, Om Prabhu Deep Madhav Krishna Nama, Om Shanti Shanti..." All my dear ones, therefore, Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa said, "Arjuna, get up." Krishna said. Arjuna said, "Lord, I can’t, I am paralyzed, I have pain in my whole body, I can’t stand up." Krishna said, "Get up, take the Gāṇḍīva and do your duty." Dharma rakshita rakshita Arjuna. When you concentrate on your duty, all your pain disappears. But when you think of yourself, then what can you do? Therefore, Bhagavān Devpurījī said, "Gurudev takes upon himself the destiny of the devotee." Om Śānti Śānti. Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān. "Śrī Kṛṣṇa Govinda Hare Murāri Hey, Nāth Nārāyaṇa, Yanvasu, Gau, Bolo, Śrī, Śrī,... Sītārām, Hare Sītārām, Rām Rām, Hare Hare. Bhagavān Rām, Sītārām." Otherwise, it becomes one-sided. They are singing only Kṛṣṇa and Balarām. Then they should say Balarāma, but they don’t say. So all people think, all Hindus and Indians think they are means to Sītā Rām, Bhagavān Rām, but in the Kṛṣṇa movement they don’t believe in Bhagavān Rām and Sītā; they call Balarāma the Bhagavān. Therefore, this kīrtana is "Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa, Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare." "Hare, Hare Sītā Rām, Hare Sītā Rām, Sītā Sītā Rām Hare Hare." Develop this, okay? Thank you. So, our program is over today with webcast, all my dear ones. Once more, blessings of Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa, Bhagavān Śrī Sītā Rām, Lakṣmī Nārāyaṇ, and Devpurījī, Mahāprabhujī, and Holy Guru. Next webcast, I think, will be from India, and maybe tomorrow evening and day after tomorrow in Oakland, but I don’t know if there. There will be a webcast. We will announce it otherwise. On the 15th of August, the webcast program will come from Jadon, from the Independence Day of India program from our college and school, Jadon Ashram. Bless you all. Thank you, and all the best. Deep Nayan Bhagwanakī Jai.
