Evening with Swamiji in Jadan

Indian culture is the cradle of global civilization, integrating spirituality, ethics, and governance into a unified whole. This culture originates from the wisdom of sages who established principles for societal and environmental harmony. Politics and religion are inseparable, as true governance is ethical conduct rooted in spiritual truth. The culture emphasizes non-violence, mercy, and the protection of all life. It sees the divine in all nature and upholds the oneness of existence within diversity. Modern interpretations often reduce profound practices like yoga to mere physical exercise, missing their essence of divine union. The preservation of this culture and environment is a sacred duty, demonstrating India's role as a world teacher.

"Mahatma Gandhijī said that if one says religion and politics cannot go together, that means he or she does not know what politics and religion are."

"Only the name of God, your mantra, is the reality. This world is a dream."

O Brahmānandam param sukhadam kevalam jñānamūrtim dvandvātītam gaganasadṛśam tasmādyadilakṣyam Ekam Nityam Vimalāchalam Sarvadhiḥsākṣibhūtam Bhāvātītam Triguṇarahitam Satgurum tam Namāmyaḥ. Salutation to the cosmic light, adoration to the Lotus Feet of our divine Siddha Pīṭha, Satgurudev. Dear sisters and brothers, good evening. The blessings are coming to you from Holy India, Jadān Āśram. Welcome. The topic today is Indian culture. You know that India is known as the cradle of culture. India has given culture to the world in every aspect: art, language, science, spirituality, etc. At the same time, I have great pleasure to introduce you to some of our āśramas, bhaktas, and some leaders—you may call them political. Mahatma Gandhijī said that if one says religion and politics cannot go together, that means he or she does not know what politics and religion are. We call it Rājanīti. Nīti is ethics, principles. Rājanīti, the nīti has been created by the ṛṣis. And the ṛṣis gave capable persons the task to take care of and maintain the societies as well as the environment. That person got the title of king, Rājā. So the Gurudev gave the king the Nīti. "O Raja, you also follow this Nīti and protect everyone." Then that king became Nīti. Therefore, politics, spirituality, ethics, and culture all go parallel. We cannot divide them. Our body is made out of five elements; we cannot divide the elements. So, there are more experts who will tell you something about Rajasthani culture. This is my very dear one, Thākur Kuśmīr Siṅgh of Jojawar. His father was a great person, a bhakta of our Satguru Dev, Swami Madhavānandajī. His grandfather was a bhakta of Mahāprabhujī. As well, we have today a great pleasure to welcome our dear sister. She is the superintendent of the police of the district Pali. And so it happened that she also came today. I requested her to come and take part in this satsaṅg. And I asked her if she could tell something about India, because she is in the police department: India and human rights, religion and culture, in short, short and sweet. Dharmaparyāyan deśa Bhārat, dharm kī utpatti Bhārat se huī, Bhārat ko kahā jātā hai antarāṣṭrīya manch par jahā bahu sanskṛti, means interculture or multicultural, sanskṛti. Why our culture is like this? Why is our culture like this? It is written in the Holy Quran, "Tamso Maa Jyotir Gamaa." O God, remove the darkness from me, and take me towards the light. Isn’t it wonderful? We have said that mercy is the root of religion, and sin is the root of pride. Tulsi, do not leave mercy when there is life in the body. To protect all living beings, Hindus are those who keep violence away and keep sin away. That is why India is known as the cradle of culture. If you ask me, who is the Hindu God? I will tell you that he is the horse. So India is the cradle of culture. Just like the mother of the world’s culture, India protects the entire Brahmin culture. It has given culture. Till today, India has not deliberately dominated any state. The glory of India goes to the whole world. If you want to see the culture, then go to India. And if you want to see the best culture in India, then go to Rajasthan. Pushkar, Melā, Vaidyanāth, Purī, Haṅg, don’t come on the radio or television. I don’t want to go to Delhi airport; I don’t want to go there. India is like a tent. When we go inside, we see foreigners wearing tents. We have our own rāgā. There are a lot of women; they are wearing chilum, they are holding a murī. We don’t have any women wearing tents. Women are sitting on the left, wearing garlands. We don’t know what to do. So, our government also wants to say that our Indian culture is so good. So, today in front of you, our Mr. Khushbīr Singh Jī, Jojao Thakur Sāhib is sitting, and he is the head of Pali district. He is the head, isn’t he? He is the head. What would we say in English to the head? What would we say? The district, the district, the president, all the mayors, the panchayat. Of the Pali as well as our SP Sahib, vichar kahiye, America mein, Australia mein, Africa mein aur England mein kehi, hamare Bhāratīye log sun rahe hame, aap sabhi. Baartīye bhaīyoṁ ko āśrīvād, hamāre 15 August kī uplakṣ mein āp ko badhāī aur āśrīvād, kus āp agrījī bhī boleṅge, hindī bhī boleṅge. So, once Pārvatī asked Bhagvān Śiva, "Lord, you tell us so many things, yoga karo, ye... Sādhanā karo, wo mantra karo, you are telling us." Bhagavān Śiva ko Pārvatī jī kaitī, ye Prabhu, āp ittā jñāna batāriyā ho, ke koī kyā yoga karo, koī kyā dhyāna karo, koī kyā mantra karo, koī kyā havana karo, ye sab. Aap kitnā gyān hī gyān de rahe ho, Bhagavān Śiva. "Lord, you are telling so many techniques, so many things, but I can’t manage to do this. Tell me, my Lord, please, a very simple way that I can follow and achieve that higher consciousness." Bhagavān, mujhe to sādhi sādhanā batā do, to ki maiṁ mokṣa ko prāpta ho sakūṁ, ātmā sākṣāta kara sakūṁ. Finally, the Lord Śiva tells Pārvatī. Pārvatī is also known as Umā. Shiva said, "O Umā, I tell you my own experiences. Only the name of God, your mantra, is the reality. This world is a dream. What was before five minutes became a dream. Therefore, only Brahman is the reality. This is the changeable mortal world. Therefore, it is said, one in all, all in one. All in one, the only one God, which is in all creatures, and all creatures are connected to the one. One is within all, and all is within one." Śaṅkarācāryajī says, "Fill ten bowls with water in the garden and mix them. On the full moon day, see, in all the bowls, the moon will be visible." In 20 bowls, the moon is visible. Look above, there is only one moon. And in one bowl, who did not see two moons? See, did you see two? There is only one, so only one God is within all the beings. And that too, there are two types; there are two types of living beings. I said, "Bābājī, my dhākanā has come, my dhākanā has come, my mother has grown up." How did my dhākanā grow up? Who is the dhākanā? Jantar, Mantar, Jādu, Ṭonā, Guru, Bhakt, nothing will happen. This is a mental illness, brother. Someone has a ghost, someone has a feeling; this feeling is a mental illness. When a devotee of Bhagavān is there, he has no fear. Jantar Mantar, jādū ṭonā, aur guru bhakti ke kuś nihonā sāch binā sudhre nahī̃. Āram raso anek cāhe tum gṛhastha meṁ raho aur śahe pehno bheg satyamān se jo bhagavān kī prārthanā karte haiṁ, to kāyāre apāre karmabhāru khichro kalī ne gānā heṁ. Paṇḍit roj svā svā karene bhagavān kṛṣṇa kathā karene, nāche kūde. Bhagavān āve konī Jatvārī bhāī jī, a small girl from Karmobai, with a stick, stood up in front of God and said, "Why don’t you eat Paṇḍitjī’s food? It is a statue, why don’t you eat it?" Karmobai said, "Panditji wears a veil every day. I don’t have any clothes, sorry. The goons did this to me." I said, "Eat it." God came and said, "So, you see, I have to maintain both sides, English and Hindi. There are certain things which I can’t translate immediately into English." I would first request our district president of the Panchayat Rajya, Shri Kushmir Singh Jī of Jojoba, and Kushmir Singh Jī will speak a little in Hindi and also a little bit in English. So, Kushmir Singh Jī, I think... Uh, you have to come here, please. The floor is yours. Give him the mic. Yeah, simply higher thinking and simple living. Please send us directly to the camera. Yes. Sir, first of all, by bowing at the feet of Gurudev, I consider myself to be very lucky today that on this land of India, and the place where we are living, there is only one such land of Satpuruṣ, which I feel very proud of, that I was also born on that land. Gurudev has given a message to the whole world that we Indians, the inhabitants of this area, cannot even imagine. When I came to this ashram for the first time, and I spoke to one of our foreign sisters in English, her answer was so pure in Hindi that I felt ashamed of myself that I could not speak such pure Hindi. And a foreigner, who is at the feet of our Gurū Mahārāj, here is a yog-sādhanā. What is yoga? In the name of yoga, I would like to say that the yoga of Gurudev is the supreme power. In our country, there is a yoga funda going on in which some people are doing physical exercises. He gave that exercise the status of yoga. And behind that, ignorant people like us, who do not understand about yoga—what is yoga—and in the name of that yoga, crores of Indians today, without thinking, understand, "This is a very good thing," that for that reason, a good... Exercise definitely benefits our body, which we do. But the power of Yoga, which Gurudev is talking about, taking us on the path, is a divine power. And it is the supreme power that, through Yoga, we can achieve everything here. That is called Yoga. And I would like to give my message to our Indians about that Yoga. What is Yog Sādhanā, Yog Siddhi, and Yoga? Yogīrāj Śrī Kṛṣṇa, 5000 years ago, has told us everything in his message. If it is needed, then today we need to walk on the path told by such sages. And in the Jārdhan Āśram that Gurudev has created, we can call it either a religious revolution, or a revolution of Indian culture, or we can call it the beginning of our era. And even if our environment, which is the most important need of the world today, we are getting that message from here. And in today’s era, along with this, I would also like to say that today we need, so, Gurudev has given a message to our youth, our youth companions, and that is water conservation. And that is what you have shown here: how to save water through water conservation. How to save the environment, and how can we save the creation from the environment? That message is through this Jārdhān Āśram. These little children who are coming here, where they are taught the lessons of Indian culture, when we see their attire... On the other hand, when I see the tie on the neck of the English school students, I still... I have to say that we are leaving the culture of India, the culture of India, the culture of India. And the foreign brothers who are sitting in between us, they are self-proclaiming Indian culture; this is a very big thing. They are not only wearing the costume, they are self-proclaiming. Beyond this, there can be no talk of pride for our nation. That Gurudev has given a message to the whole world, and this proves that today India is the world’s guru. I feel very grateful that in this field, I am also serving the public through my political position. And when I see the clothes of the students of this school, my heart is so happy. That there is no need to worry about the fact that such people are present in our country, then our culture will definitely not be affected by this. This was our Thakur Shri Khuśabīra Siṅha Jī of Jojawar, District Head, President of Panchayat Rājya. His message was about the culture, and he prepared to deliver the message in Hindi because there are many Indians sitting, Bhaktas from Rajasthan, so he would like to give the message in Hindi. The main points that he spoke about are what our Om Śrī Viśvadīp Gurukul is doing. First, the protection of the environment while planting the trees. Second, he accepts and admires, and he mentioned our water harvest, rain harvesting project. Water is life, life is water. Jal jahan jagadīś, jahā̃ pānī hai, vahā̃ Bhagavān hai. Then he also mentioned yoga. He said, unfortunately, even in India, many people understand yoga is only asanas and prāṇayāms. Definitely, it is he said, not me. He is saying, Kushbīr Singh jī. That asanas and prānāyāms are that kind of exercise which gives good health, physical, mental, harmonizing, anti-stress, etc. But finally, is that yoga? As Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa, who is known as Yogeśvara, and that yoga, the union, the higher consciousness. After that, he was impressed, and he said whenever he comes to Jadan Ashram and he sees our school and our international bhaktas and students, in his heart he feels such a great joy. When I see the bhaktas from the overseas students, as well as the bhaktas and volunteers, He feels so happy to see, in their neck or in their throat, hanging a mālā, not a tie. Also, as well as our students, our brahmachārīs of our college and school, They have ancient gurukuls, uniform, not the tie and not this different thing, but they learn, they represent the Indian culture. Therefore, Khushbīr Singh, he said, "I feel proud, and I can say that I feel very secure that there are still great saints who protect the Indian culture, and definitely India is the Viśwa Guru." This was, in short, our dear Khushbīr Singh Jī, Thākur of Jojawar. Deep Nayan Bhagwan Kī. Now, I will bring you to one of our officers here, and she may talk some Hindi, some English. So, my dear brothers and sisters, we welcome our dear S.P. Sāhab. So, SP Saab, the floor is yours. Thank you, Gurujī. Salutations to everyone present over here. Sab ko namaskār, sab hī ko jo yāṁ pe upasthit hai. It is a great privilege for me to be here in this ashram and speak to all of you about Indian culture, about our culture, about spirituality and ethics. About the environment that Gurujī has been working so hard for all these years. We in India have a great culture. We always admired and upheld values of spirituality, ethics, and the environment, which were always given precedence since birth. India, as you know, is a land of great saints, and it is also the confluence of different kinds of religions, different races, different creeds, all harmoniously coexisting together and living peacefully. It is the land where Lord Buddha had come. It is the land where Lord Mahavīra had come. It is the land where the gospel of Christianity was also preached. It was the land where Hinduism took its birth. It is the land where all religions are held together with great respect and admiration. In my opinion, religion had its formation for a very noble cause. Émile Durkheim, a sociologist, had once said that religion has a very social use. It is religion which binds all people together. It is religion that unites people. It has a very unifying role. But unfortunately, in modern society, religion is misused for various maligned intentions, dividing people into various sectarian factions. In India, great civilizations came, various religious leaders came, all giving various kinds of messages to us and all unifying us into one noble thought, to walk in the path of truth, to walk in the path of respecting each other, giving respect to each other, and never to harm anyone. This was a message that was given by all religions. And it is this message that is being followed by the Ashram, by the Gurujī. In India, we always had great respect for all the different forms of nature. Indra Bhagavān ko ām Bhagavān mānte hain. Bāriṣ ko Bhagavān mānte hain. Agni ko Bhagvān mānte hain. All elements of nature are treated as God. Because from childhood, we treat nature as something that is very part and parcel of our life. We are taught never to harm nature because we have to coexist with it. And it is what? It is preached by all Indians living here. I am very proud to be part of this great culture, to be part of this great global community. Rakesh Sharma ji, when he went to space, a great Indian astronaut, when he went up and when they came back, they were asked, "How do you feel? When you look at the whole world from above, how do you feel?" Then they said, "The best place in the world, Hindu Sītā, is ours." So, I feel both humbled and honored to be here in this ashram, to be part of this great culture. And I am also a representative of the government here, where we uphold human values, we respect human rights, and we protect people’s lives and their property. We are very proud to be Indians and very proud to be in this āśram. And I am very happy to be talking to all of you. And I hope that the message that Gurujī gives us, we should implement it in our lives and take it forward. If we cannot take it forward, then let it be there, but never take it back. It is very important. Thank you very much. Broad people, we also protect and help to protect everyone’s individual rights, property, and so on. As the United Nations’ voice is that each and every voice will be heard. Culture, she spoke a lot about culture, and at the same time, she spoke a lot about how many incarnations, holy saints, incarnate on this holy land, Bhārat. And Bharat is also a home for every religion. And a very core point is this. Quoted one philosopher’s name, I have forgotten, that religion is created to maintain, protect, harmonize, and live in harmony with society. Unite, not to divide. Last, she quoted, or she said, one of the astronauts who went into space, and then Indians asked him, "Brother, or sir, when you went so many thousands or millions—I don’t know how many millions—of kilometers above, when you saw India from... Above, how did you feel?" He said, after traveling through the space, I think the best of all that I saw is my motherland, Bhārat, Deepnanda Bhagavān. So with this, I would like to bless you all, and the next webcasting will be from Jaipur Ashram, probably. Wish you all the best, dear brothers and sisters. Today was a very colorful program: different cultures, different languages, different subjects. Wish you all the best. Om Śānti, Śānti, Śānti.
