Spiritual Way Of Living

A satsang commemorating the 89th birth anniversary of Satguru Dev Swami Madhavanandaji.

"Everyone has birth, but rare are those who make this birth successful."

"Guru kṛpāhi kevalaṁ kṛpāḥ. On whom the kripa of the Gurudev is there, everyone’s kripa will be there."

A spiritual teacher leads a discourse honoring the birth anniversary of Satguru Dev. He explores the nature of a divine birth, where an immortal soul enters the mortal world as a guide. Key themes include the importance of blessings over curses, the eternal Guru Tattva principle, and the lineage of grace from Alakpuriji through Devpuriji to the present Satguru. The talk emphasizes surrendering negative qualities, following the Guru's word as mantra, and the protective power of faith.

Deep Nārāyaṇa Bhagavānakī, Dev Purīṣa Mahādevakī, Satguru Svāmī Mādhāvanājī Bhagavānakī, Satya Sanātana Dharma Kī. Good evening to everyone, dear ones, here and in other parts of the world. Blessings to all of you from, especially today, from our universally worshipped Satguru Dev Śrī Svāmī Madhavānandajī, or what we call Holy Gurujī. Because today is the 89th anniversary of our Satguru Dev’s incarnation. Some of us here also have a birthday, especially our dear Alexander. Thanks to him that he keeps the name of Śrīlinga alive. So it doesn’t matter, Euros come and this and that, but Shilling remains. We congratulate him also and ask Satguru Dev, our holy Gurujī, to bless him with good health and long life. Also, our dear sister Madhu from Budapest has her birthday, and we wish her all the best. Thank you. All is good. To all others around the world who have a birthday today, congratulations, good health, long life, and spiritual development. Welcome, all of you. This satsaṅg is dedicated to the memory of our Satguru Dev. Everywhere around the world, in every ashram and center, people are having satsaṅgs, and I also send them many blessings of Maa, Prabhujī, Śrī Devpurījī, and Gurujī. It is said everyone is born. There are different languages in which one expresses: someone said one is born, someone said one is incarnated, one is called manifested. So it is said, "Janam to sabhī laite hī hai." Everyone has the birth. "Janam to sabhī lete ha͏iṅ, lekin us janam ko siddh karnā aur us janam ko saphal banānā, ye mahāpuruṣoṅ kā kām hotā hai." So everyone has birth, but rare are those who make this birth successful. That is the work or tapasyā, the authority or sādhanā, or the spiritual way of living. They make this birth successful. Every animal also has a birth. They also live a life, and they also die. Humans also have a birth. They live their life and die. Numerous, billions of humans in the past, in many ages. How many achieved their goal or fulfillment? This life is a journey, not a destination. When we go somewhere, our dear ones wish us a happy journey, a good journey. Only we can do that much, but our good wishes are a blessing. All good thoughts, all good wishes, it doesn’t matter from whom they come, even from your enemy, are a blessing. This blessing has two effects. The one who is giving blessings also gets good positive karma or blessings. And the one who gets the blessing also has the good karma and success. Blessing is the success, liberation. And negative thinking, negative thought is a curse. That curse will first destroy the one who is having negative thoughts, and it will affect others too. This Jīvā, this Jīvātmā, the individual soul, entered this mortal world, adopted this physical body made out of five elements, and is guided by destiny. Destiny can only be changed or made mild through the blessings or guidance of a master or wise people. The saints have mercy in their heart for all. Doesn’t matter if it is your Gurudev or some other saint, they have mercy or blessings for all of us. The real blessing is coming from the one who is blessed. So we always write, "Blessed One." Blessed is the one who was blessed by Almighty God or Brahman, whatever you call it. So with his blessing, the God, birth is given or takes place. There is a beautiful preparation in the divine world, or in the astral world, with a lot of blessings, protections, divine energy, etc. With that, the particular jīvātmā, the soul, is proceeding into this mortal world. The immortal one enters into the mortal one. "Amar jo hai, wo mṛtyu rūpī sansār mein praveś kartā hai." Who is the immortal? He enters into the mortal world. Why? Because that one comes with a special message, sandeśa. To create the beautiful divine destiny, to prepare them to proceed in the astral divine world. They become the guide. That’s why we call them followers. We have to follow the footsteps from Mṛtyu Loka till the Satya Loka, Brahma Loka, Immortal Loka. So the immortal one comes to the mortal with a particular purpose: to liberate, to support, to help, to guide, to bless those few souls. Few souls are they who have blessings to get satsaṅg. Even if you sit near the lake, looking at the water, and you can think divine, it is a satsaṅg. Even when you walk through the forest and have divine thoughts, the beauty of God’s creation is a satsaṅg. Or one is going for a walk in the forest, very angry and screaming, and wants to walk quickly to get rid of this anger. "Kushāṅga." You can’t get rid of that. You can be angry the whole day. So you can be angry and jealous and hate the whole day, but you are not forced to do this. So blessed are they who were blessed by those ṛṣis. The ṛṣis can be God too, because all is different in the name. They bless and send you; that’s called a blessing. And a blessed one has the rights, and a blessed one has a blessing. They give you blessing. What does that mean? They give you to give further, to utilize this. So human life is a blessed one. But unfortunately, there is a certain destiny which puts us in certain circumstances, maybe family situation, culture, traditions, education, etc., and it is taken away from your destiny. So Śiva Loka, Brahma Loka, Satya Loka, the saints are coming from there, and others come from the astral world, where they are struggling and fluttering on the waves of time, in darkness, lost. And again, come to the mṛti-loka. Again, experience and suffer the death, physical, mental, emotional torturing. Again go and again come. Again go and again come. When you walk through certain fields in some countries, they find there is some oil, and they put some pump which is constantly moving like that, pumping out. So this is going in and out, in and out,... day and night. Day and night lives in lives, industrial world in the mortal world, industrial world in the physical world, coming, going, coming, going. That may be stopped when there will be no more oil. So Mīrābāī said, now I don’t have to worry to swim through, because there is no water anymore. I can just comfortably walk through. Such saints come, and they do their duty. They do their work, and they have only the blessings always in divine consciousness and bless them. Sooner or later, someone will follow that one who will take over, and they... Will go, it is the same one who comes and blesses us in this way, our Satguru Dev, our spiritual lineage from the Ālagpurījī. Numerous ṛṣis were Ālagpurījī’s disciples, unfortunately we don’t know because ages have passed. But one beautiful, eternal, immortal river, Alaknanda, the water that represents Alakpurījī. To take water, bathe in that water, or drink that water, you are in the consciousness of Alak Purī. We are very fortunate ones that there was a great hero, and that was Śrī Devpurījī, who brought this immortal message of Alakpurījī, and as it is, he gave it to our Bhagavān Śrī Nipnār and Mahāprabhujī. And Mahāprabhujī blessed and gave it as it is to our beloved Satguru Dev, Swami Madhavānandajī. Yes, according to this Kali Yuga situation, according to the human’s weakness of their memories and faith or confidence and abilities to do the sādhanās or not, our Satguru Dev have given us a great treasure. And that is his teachings. First, what he gave us is the holy book Līlā Amṛta, in such a way which is what we call eyewitness. And for us who are sitting here and listening, we do have the evidence from still those people who are living. We don’t know how was the Kṛṣṇa, because that memory we don’t have. We don’t know how was Rāma, or Jesus, or the Buddhas. How was it? But we do have very clear experiences, which our Satguru Devas blessed the world with. So our beloved Satguru Dev, Swami Madhavānandjī Mahārāj, he gave us the biggest treasure. We are the richest ones on this earth. We inherited from our Guru Dev Nīlāmṛt and bhajans. Sense is always very simple. Sense does not play with intellect. It plays with love. That’s why we call love God, and God is love. I hope you will not get confused: intellect is God, and God is intellect. You see how simple. Their way is what we call simple living and higher thinking, and unconditional love to all creatures, and supporting preaching, preaching. If you will understand or not, first day, second day, years and years, maybe you will not come, you will not hear, it doesn’t matter. But many will come. We may change; they will not change, because they cannot. Change that is unchangeable, therefore it is said: Akhaṇḍa, unbreakable; Nitya, everlasting; Nirākāra, formless; Nirañjana, spotless; Sat, Cit, Ānanda. That is the definition of the Satguru Deva. "Brahmaniṣṭhaḥ śrotriyaḥ," that he is knower of the Brahman, and he preaches the knowledge of the Brahman, that who can inspire us. The saint may be sleeping in deep sleep, and you come and wake him up immediately, he or she can begin to give the lectures, blessings. They say, "Oh, my dear one, how are you? What can I do for you? Are you okay? Everything is nice." Satsaṅg begins. And the other one will say, "Why so late? Go away. I can’t talk to you. I am tired. I am going to sleep. Don’t disturb me. I am tired. I shall sleep. Crazy one." You see? How is, what is going on in the consciousness of the saints and in the consciousness of a normal person? The great saints will never think that they missed something in their life, because they did, they are doing, and they will do the same divine work of Brahman with which they came, as blessed and blessing-giving. But others are scared of this life, too. Oh God, I did not enjoy this. I did not fulfill this. And nowadays, what we call midlife, I didn’t say further. I said only midlife, life, and you said crisis. So it means circling again and again. But it is said, what you search has no sense in it. All search is senseless, and what you should search, which is full of sense, is to remain ever in your dignity. Remain in your dignity. Therefore, time to time, Nityāvatāra, the same Guru Tattva, the highest Tattva, the highest element, is Guru Tattva, that Bhagavān Śiva, Sadāśiva, spoke himself. Even he said Guru Tattva is higher than him. And therefore it is said, in that Guru Tattva, all three are presenting: Guru Brahmā, Guru Viṣṇu, Guru Devo Maheśvara. And above these three, Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and Śiva is Parabrahmā. And that Parabrahma, "Guru Sākṣāt Parabrahma." And therefore, that is Sākṣāt Parabrahma. "Tasme Śrī Guruve Namaḥa." I adore such a Guru. "Dhyāṇa mūlaṁ gurur mūrti." Therefore, always in meditation, meditate on the immortal form of Guru Dev. "Pūjā mūlaṁ gurupādam." Worshipping of the Gurū Dev’s feet. As long as you have devotion and you worship the feet, and when you lose the devotion, anything, then you criticize it. It is your stupidity both ways. Guru never said, "Worship my feet." Never. But it was a blessing of Viṣṇu. He said, "Viṣṇu, now your holy feats will be worshipped." There was one ṛṣi, and he was very quickly angered, very quickly was angry. So one day he went to Viṣṇu, and Viṣṇu was resting like this in his ocean, the milk ocean, comfortably. Śeṣanāgjī was guarding. Beautiful, it was here. And the ṛṣi went to ask Viṣṇu to help the people and solve some problem in this world. And when he saw Viṣṇu peacefully enjoying his rest there in Veṅkuṇḍa or somewhere else, the ṛṣi became angry. We are suffering all down here, and Viṣṇu doesn’t care. So he kicked with his feet on the chest of Viṣṇu. Viṣṇu opened his eyes, smiled, sat up with folded hands, and said, "Ṛṣi, I am sorry. My body is like iron, and you have such gentle lotus feet. Did it hurt you? Is it painful for you to hit such a hard body? From now onwards, there will be glory in the worshipping and washing of the holy feet." And that began at that time. People did not believe and forgot, and it is said also, because you know more about this, that Jesus’ disciples washed his feet, and he washed the feet of the disciples, but they took away that they washed the feet of the master. They took it away, and from since that time, that is a word of Bhagavān, Viṣṇu, Lord of "Mantramūlam Guruvākyam." And follow the words, the instructions, the teachings of the ṛṣis. Ṛṣivākya or Guruvākya are holy words. That is a mantra. Master tells you, "Repeat your mantra, and don’t jump from the roof of the house down. Don’t be crazy." Now you said, "I will repeat my mantra, but I will jump." You didn’t follow the words he said, but I was repeating my mantra. Why am I not protected? No, the instructions live and live and live. Geduld, wait and see. Just do your sādhanā, and the fruits will be given to you. And therefore, that kṛpā will come to us. Then the door of the mokṣa will be opened for us, and that’s why Gurujī said, "Enter the kingdom of the Lord through the gate of sacrifice." What should we sacrifice? Should we sacrifice our dress, sacrifice our money, or our wealth, or what? Nothing. Family, no, sacrifice your inner negative qualities. Don’t say, "I don’t like this, I don’t like this, this is so terrible, that here is not a good place, this is not a good thing." Which place is good? Such a person will never be happy anywhere. Jealous, jealous. Jealousy is a tendency also, as a self-protection. But when it goes too far, then it’s burning inside. Anger, hate, jealousy, conflicts, ego, many, many, many things. This is to renounce and be simple. Be simple. When it rains in the mountains, water flows down into the valley. And the rain, when it’s falling down in the valley, doesn’t go up to the peak of the mountains. Always, where there is a deep place, water gathers. That is a collection. There, all others are dry. And so, in whose heart is so deep surrender, love, and devotion, there God’s love is all the time. There is mercy, and that is our Gurudev. Holy Gurujī taught us many times, in many satsaṅgs. I was lucky enough to have many, many satsaṅgs with Holy Gurujī, sitting and listening. And with one sentence, so much knowledge was in it. That’s all. That’s my God. So we are all lucky, fortunate ones, blessed ones, because we are blessed by our holy Gurujī. And therefore, we remember him. We thank him, the Almighty, or Mahāprabhujī, that he came into this world. And we are thankful that he came and gave us so much. Ages and ages, we will utilize his wisdom. It will always be there, and therefore he said, "Don’t worry." A poorness, a very, very poor physically, mentally, emotionally, materially poor, that is a... And he gives us a very much, he blesses us with wealth, a great wealth, viśāl, endless. He can remove all this dāridra karma from many, many lives. In that bhajan, very clearly, very clearly expressed or taught to us. Every bhajan, also from Mahāprabhujī’s bhajans, from Maṅgīlālji’s, from Lālanānjī’s, from Brāhmaṇānjī’s. Thanks to Gurujī, that he found somewhere the collection and put it together as their books, as their wisdoms. Guruji did not write Lala Nanji’s bhajan and draw it in the name of Guruji, no. Every sentence, every word that Lala Nanjī spoke, Gurujī said, "Lala Nanjī’s, Brahman Nanjī’s." Because the intellectual property also has the rights of the person, we should not steal the intellectual property. People take from this book, that book, this book, and then put this as like their own. One suffers. That’s not how it is. It’s not a thing. So from our other policy, the Pīṭha, we have immense wisdom, and now you get it. I got it. Then we multiply it, it’s always, I said, this is Gurujī’s, Mahāprabhujī’s blessing. Gurujī never said, "Yes, it is my blessings to you." No. Mahāprabhujī’s blessing. Mahāprabhujī said also, Devapurījī’s blessings. Mahāprabhujī always said, "Sāj pakad bhajasai, is jag me terā koī nahī." Hold on to the eternal truth: "brahma satya, jagat mithyā." "Sāj pakad bhajasai." The "sāī" means God. "Saaj pakad bhajasai, is jag me tera." In this world, no one is yours. Only that truth is yours. So that’s why we remember certain birthdays or anniversaries of those great saints. So in the name of our Mahāprabhujī, Devapurījī, and Gurujī’s blessings to all of you. And we give the blessings to Holy Gurujī from Mahāprabhujī and Devapurījī. That Holy Gurujī’s divine energy, divine look should always be on us. Always he is watching us, guiding us, protecting us, leading us, liberating us. "Guru kṛpāhi kevalaṁ kṛpāḥ." "Jispar kripā guru kī hoī, uspar kripā kare sabhī koī." On whom the kripa of the Gurudev is there, everyone’s kripa will be there. But we should be worthy enough to have that kṛpā. You cannot get that kripa through your material temptations. Kripa is that kind of love without distance, even far, far beyond the stars. But still, my Lord, I will be Thine. There is no distance. Transparent, clear. Nothing can come between. That’s called Lakṣmaṇa Rekhā. When Lakṣmaṇa put a line around Sītā’s hut, no one could enter. It was only lying on the earth with his dhanuṣ, that’s all. But that was like electric power, bulletproof, not only bulletproof, but everything-proof. Ravana tried to come close, and it was like electricity, you know. That is the line of your promise. That is the line of your faith, your confidence. Nothing will come in my consciousness, in my feeling, between. That is a protection, and that Gurudev is protecting us all. So, all the best, and once more, many blessings, Śrīdīpna and Bhagavān Devīśvara Mahādeva Mādhava Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān.
