The human mission is to realize our higher purpose beyond mere existence.

We planted a peace tree, a symbol for a world needing peace. Recent violence shows a disconnect between our words and actions. Outer peace begins with inner peace, cultivated through yoga and conscious living. Every creature lives, but humans have a unique duty: to protect, serve, and seek higher consciousness. Yet, few possess true human quality. We must constantly remember, "I am a human," which serves as protection. Consider what it means to be human—it carries great responsibility. What makes us human are divine qualities like love, forgiveness, and kindness. Our prime duty is to awaken these, not merely pursue material gain. Greed disrupts harmony, while contentment brings happiness. The mission is to love all creatures and realize God. This creates good karma; negative actions like war bring negative karma and may forfeit the human birth. Life is for service, protection, and liberation. Time waits for no one; our actions always bring reactions.

"Mother Earth has enough for everyone’s need, but not for their greed."

"Peace cannot be founded anywhere. Peace can only be realized within ourselves."

This is the mosque near the Mahātmā Gandhījī statue, close to the Indian embassy. We had a nice program yesterday for the whole day, and the day before yesterday also. Today, a very historical thing happened: the planting of the peace tree. The peace tree found such a good place, just near the bus stop here. When it is a very hot day, people will have good shadow. It has nice leaves, big leaves, and it will have nice boughs and everything. Well, life is given to every creature. Every creature is living its life. Humans are also living their lives. But humans have a higher purpose in their life, or a mission in their life. The last three days we were talking a lot about world peace. This morning we spoke a lot about world peace. Every religion and every religious leader is talking about unity, peace, love, and understanding. But still, things are happening which are unacceptable. You know, all that yesterday—again, this is the fourth time within two months, or one and a half months—the bomb exploded in New Delhi and numbers of people died. Two bombs, and there was a crowd of people. Unfortunately, the innocent people died. The family lost a family member. The wife lost her husband, or the husband lost his wife. The parents lost their children, or the children lost their parents. According to the afternoon speech of the grandson of Mahātmā Gandhījī, Arun Gandhi said that there were two Islam organizations that sent the response that they are the ones who did this. So it’s not good. Still we humans do not do what we speak, and we fight for our individual benefit. If we renounce our ego and greed, then we will have enough peace and harmony in life. No one should fight against anyone. But that will take time. So the outer peace can only begin with the inner peace. Peace cannot be founded anywhere. Peace can only be realized within ourselves. And so, yoga and daily life around the world try to give understanding to the people and a healthy way of life and many things. Still, we have to be very cautious, very alert, and careful that through our deeds, our actions, our words, and our writing, we should not harm anyone in any way. If we can do this, there is a great achievement. Every creature is created here on this globe, on this beautiful planet, as a life. And they lead their life on this planet. But humans also live on this planet, yet humans have higher principles, a higher aim: to be a protector, to serve, to help all creatures, and God realization, or liberation, or higher consciousness, mokṣa, or heaven, whatever you call it. That can only come through human acts. But someone said, "There are many people in the world, but rare are those who have human quality." Very few are there who have human quality. So again and again, great saints, sages, wise men, and holy men constantly gave instructions to humanity about ethical principles. And now it is a very high time, a very important and high time, that human beings begin to think that they are human. Many humans do not think clearly. They only think, "I am human, and I can do whatever I want." That’s not true. That is the act of the animals. They can do whatever they want according to their limitations. So our protection is this. Every day, a few times a day, make yourself aware of that: I am a human. Anything that we do, and we are not sure if we should do it or not, then first make clear: I am a human. Can humans do such things, or is it animals or the Asuras, devils? So, "I am a human" is a great protection for us and for other creatures. Second, what does it mean for me to be a human? This life will not be given again and again. Only the chance. Our deeds will go with us. Our prayers will go with us. Not our wealth, nor our friends and relatives. Nothing will go with us, except that karma, what we did. And that karma turns into destiny. And the destiny will lead like a wind leads the boat in different directions. So, what does it mean for me to be a human? If you become the president of any organization, then you think, what does it mean for me to be a president? When you become a father, you should know what it means to be a father. Or a mother. If you become a director of some company, you know what it means for you to be a director? Great responsibility. So, what does it mean for me to be a human? Pondering this thought will protect us from many negative deeds or acts. Third, what makes me human? Not this body. Many animals have two legs, two hands—monkeys, eyes, ears, a nose—everyone, all animals. But what makes me human? These are the human qualities, the hidden powers in a human: love, understanding, forgiveness, kindness, humbleness, mercy, peace, contentment, protection. These divine qualities, only through the human consciousness, we can develop. So now the question comes: what is important for me now? When I came to know I am human, what does it mean for me to be human? What are the human qualities? Now, how to awaken or how to develop these human qualities—that should be our prime duty. Not: how to earn money, how to buy a house, how to make a profit. This is not so important. Be happy that God gave you something to eat. That’s all. If you are very rich, you still eat only two pieces of bread. And if you are very poor, you eat four pieces of bread. But the poor one is happy. You are not. Who is rich? Who doesn’t want anything? Who is poor? All want to have more and more. And that’s why Gandhījī said, "Mother Earth has enough for everyone’s need, but not for their greed." Our greed is too high. So how to develop these qualities? Through satsaṅg, good company, good friends, reading good books, going walking in a good forest. Always good thinking, positive thinking for others. Helping hands have more value than folded hands. So, how to develop the human qualities which make me human? As soon as you are angry and jealous, greedy, full of ego, you lose the human qualities. And finally, what is the mission of human life? Love and protect all creatures, the environment, this planet, and God realization. That is the prime duty, the prime mission of human life. And when, if we all will work like this together, there will be no quarrelling, no fighting, no terrorism, no bomb exploding, nothing and nothing. Support everyone, understand everyone. Tolerance, respect, understanding, trust, and harmony—that’s called truth. Tolerance, understanding, respect, trust, and harmony. So whatever we work mentally and with our intellect for the well-being of our planet and the citizens of our planet, that will count for us as good karma as a human. And whatever we do that is negative, and fighting, and creating war and this and that, will be counted as negative karma. You will not get a chance to come again into the human body. So, this life is given to serve, protect, understand, and liberate thyself. So, these are the messages of yoga and death in life. Wish you all the best, and see you here or there, definitely somewhere. Time doesn’t wait for anyone. Even what we call the God, the God of the God of the God, will incarnate on this planet. Time will say bye-bye. It is time he will come, and it is time he will go. Such time will not wait for anyone. Karma will not leave anyone free. Every action will have a reaction, and every reaction will have an action. It doesn’t matter if you do the karma loudly or silently. And therefore, let us help others, give love, understanding, and kindness to all. To all. With this, I wish you all the best, and God bless you. Om śānti, śānti. Is that someone who’s going tonight, flying away? No. Tomorrow’s program is very short and very quick. I will try to be here at 8:15. And nine, latest—my flight is ten o’clock or eleven o’clock? Oh, thank you. So I will try to be here at 9, 8:30 or 9. At 9:30 we will...
