Maha Kumbha Mela

The blessings of satsaṅg and a story of transformation. This sacred confluence has been a site of austerity and spiritual dialogue for ages. People often seek happiness in external materialism, neglecting the dormant wisdom within. A story is told of a disciple who, with a little knowledge, betrayed and tried to supplant his Guru. The Guru cursed him to be reborn as a crow. Later, this crow sat among birds discussing life, Guru, and devotion. Hearing them, the crow remembered his past life and wept in realization of his error. This transformed crow became a sage who gives satsaṅg. Being in satsaṅg has great effect on consciousness. Purify negative thoughts and practice discipline.

"In satsaṅg, the one who talks a lot becomes a crow, the one who sleeps becomes a tiger, and the one who comes and goes becomes a frog."

"Listening to satsaṅg, being in the satsaṅg, has a great benefit, a great effect on our body, mind, consciousness, and intellect."

Sanātana Dharma kī jaya! Tum sabke dīna dayā la rājasuna merī Śiva. Tum sabke dīna dayā la rājasuna merī Śiva. Ānanda dairī, tum sabke dīna dayā la rājasuna merī Śiva tum. You are the son of the Lord, the son of the Lord, the son of Purījī, Purījī. Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān kī. Good morning to everybody. All the blessings of Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī, Devpurījī, Gurujī, Alakhpurījī, and the Siddha Pīṭh Paramparā welcome you all here at the holy bank of three rivers, Hiṇḍā, Piṅgalā, and Triśuṅgā—Gaṅgā, Yamunā—and this is the divine place where the three rivers merge into one. For millions of years, this place has been a site for austerity, for tapasyā, for yajñas, and for spiritual dialogue about dharma, the universe, and the protection of each and every entity, to protect and understand the meanings and the importance of vegetation in our life. At that time, the ṛṣis had long lives of many years, thousands of years. There were many yajñas, many melās. It began with the great saint Ṛṣi Bharadvāja, and many other ṛṣis were living here. There is a beautiful story about a lake, the highest lake in this world, which is at the border of Bhārat and Nepal. The Tibet which was Bharat is now called Tibet, China, the territory of China now. Once a great saint, the speaker who speaks about the holy Rāmāyaṇa, the Rāmāyaṇa which is—there are different kinds of Rāmāyaṇa—one of the best is written by the great saint Vālmīki, that is entirely in Sanskrit language, then in the dialect language it was written by the great saint Tulsīdās. The person who is, there are many thousands in India who are giving talks on the Rāmāyaṇa and Gītā and Vedas and Upaniṣads and the like. Still, thanks to God, India has millions of spiritual luminaries. Millions. So, Bhārat mein koī kamī nahīṁ hai, āj bhī mahān puruṣa, Īśvarīya vibhūti hai. It is said in the blood of the Indians, there is a philosophy, a spiritual philosophy. Unfortunately, they do not utilize this; it is dormant in their unconsciousness. People turn towards materialism, searching for happiness outside. No doubt, we did, and we got some development and many easy things. According to telepathy, the telephone was developed. Divyadraṣṭi, according to that, is the television that is developed. Some ways, science has made some steps which are practical, but at the same time, more problems arise from that. One comfort or happiness, but many, many problems connected with those facilities which we are facing today. If all Indians, as well as others, will utilize their wisdom, which is within themselves, dormant, the potentiality which humans have lost in the search and struggle for materialism. So the great one of them is called Murārī Bāpu. You have seen many of his pictures. He is from Gujarat, and he had a Kathā. Katha means telling the glory of that particular subject. Like our dear Priyanka, she is giving now a beautiful talk about the great Ṛṣi Gārgāchārya. And Garga-ācārya was the guru of Kṛṣṇa, the Kulguru, the family guru. Gragacharya performed the marriage of Krishna’s mother and father. He also gave the name to Krishna according to astrology. Gragāchārya is known as the inventor of astrology and astronomy. He was great in mathematics, a great. So the Maharṣi Gargācārya is explaining in this Garga-saṁhitā book, which Priyanka is reading, or Preeti. You see, beautiful names. Both devas are very good. There, the Maharṣi Gargācārya himself is describing the life of Kṛṣṇa. How was it? Where was it? Like this? Great. And she is talking in Hindi. And from time to time, she does use English words. She can speak English too. But you cannot understand properly, and that is why we will do the subject. But it is good to listen at least. Nādarūpa Parabrahma. At least to let the sound into our consciousness through our ears has a great effect. Well, Murārī Bāpū told one story, and that was about Yājñavalkya, who was also a great ṛṣi, and Bharadvāja Ṛṣi. So Ṛṣi Yajñavalkya had a disciple. After a little knowledge, he started to consider himself greater than his Gurujī. This is the story of Murārī Bāpu. And in order to snatch away his Guru, he started to do bad things to his Guru. Guru’s betrayer, the worst thing that happened to him was not complete. The ṛṣi had one disciple, a close disciple, and he was learning a lot from the ṛṣi. Now he had only this little glimpse of intellectual knowledge, but not the practical. But he thought he himself was now the great one, the siddha, the wise one. Gurujī led a very simple life, and he began to talk badly about Gurujī and tried to take the position of Gurujī, so Gurujī cursed him, "You will be a crow." So he was born, he died and became a crow. Therefore, when Gurujī is sitting in satsaṅg, don’t talk, or you will become a crow. Okay? So who is talking? Black crow. In satsaṅg, the one who talks a lot becomes a crow, the one who sleeps becomes a tiger, and the one who comes and goes becomes a frog. So, Āśaramjī Bāpū had a Rāmāyaṇa reading, Kathā, near that lake, the highest lake, called Chulī, Chulī Lake. Chuli Lake’s speciality is that the water is so clean, so pure, transparent, and crystal clear. There were some birds sitting, and one day a black bird came, and every bird was surprised that such a bird could be. Pele kowe nahī hote thī. To chidhiyon ke bīch meṁ vo kālā kāvā āke baiṭh gayā vahāṁ. Chidhiyon, dekh rahī yeh kaun hai? Rākṣas kī tarah dikh rahā hai, kālā dikh rahā hai, bhayankar dikh rahā hai. But the crow was getting closer to the birds. Slowly, slowly, he tried to connect his faith and love with them. All those birds accepted him and said, "Come, sit." So one day, the birds—these words are from Murārī Bāpu’s Mukharbin, not mine. The birds were sitting there at the height of the Himalayas, and they were talking about happiness and sorrow. That is why it is said that, "Japat paśu, ar pakṣī, pyāre śubha aruṣyam." Even the birds and animals remember the name of the Lord. So the crow was sitting there, and the crow was also beautiful. So the birds were talking about life, happiness, unhappiness, disappointment, joy, etc. The life situation, the different circumstances of life, the crow was sitting among them, and the crow heard these things. The birds were talking, "Bina Guru Gyāna Hoi, Bina Guru Mokṣa Mūlam, Guru Kṛpā." Worship your Guru, do what your Guru is saying, don’t do what your Guru is doing, many, many things. Don’t go against, don’t talk bad like this. Suddenly, the crow begins to weep; tears came out of the crow’s eyes. So what happened there was that there was a crow sitting next to those birds, and they were talking about happiness and sorrows. They were talking about the Guru, they were talking about mother and father. So after seeing such sorrow, what happens to the Guru’s faith? That crow got the knowledge of his previous birth and came to know, "I was a great sage, a disciple of a great sage, and I made a mistake." So the crow was remembering, and suddenly, in his consciousness, the memory of the past awoke. And suddenly he realized what he had done with his Gurujī. And he begins to weep. All the small birds came near and said, "Brother, what are you doing? Why are you crying? What happened?" Then he is telling a story, that I was a disciple of that and that ṛṣi, and I went against, I tried to humiliate my master, and I was cursed and became the crow. Then from the tears of those birds, that lake became. Now it is like this: that lake is so clean, even now if one blade of the grass, a blade of the grass or the leaf of a tree falls into the lake. From nowhere, you will see a bird come quickly flying, take that out, and go away. Kalkī calī jai us ṛṣi ko jñāna huā, then he realized. Aur voī vo ṛṣi jisko ham kahte haīṁ Kāgabhuśaṇḍī, vo banā Kāgabhuśaṇḍī. And now he begins to give the satsaṅgs and kathā. So it is said, even all the... Divine Goddess and all the great saints and ṛṣis, even sometimes Śiva, Brahmā, and Viṣṇu also go and listen to the satsaṅg. So, listening to satsaṅg, being in the satsaṅg, has a great benefit, a great effect on our body, mind, consciousness, and intellect. So we are sitting just on the spot where the thousands or millions of holy places, from which the divine dust is carried by different rivers, merge or join our holy rivers like Yamunā and Gaṅgā. Sarasvatī is already on the surface. Purījī, Purījī... So we cannot say it is washed away. It is not washed away. It is here. At the same time, in those yugas, the ages and ages, millions or billions of ṛṣis and bhaktas have been here. So we can understand, no doubt, it is some special place. You are lucky, you are fortunate one, that you came here. Enjoy the divine atmosphere. Purify all the negative thoughts from your mind. No negative thinking, no criticizing, nothing. Just try to become pure. Practice your mantras and discipline. So, I wish you all the best, and we will have the next satsaṅg next time. Welcome. Now the program is like this: I have to go to the Denjavan Camp, and some opening ceremonies should have been done by me, but I wasn’t here. Now, the closing ceremony will be at 10:30 there. It’s about 300 or 400 meters from here. If you would like to come, you are welcome. After your heavy breakfast, heavy dinner, or lunch, you can go. At least you should be 15 people together, 10 to 15, so that you don’t get lost. You can walk to our old or our small camp. There will be bandarā, but I think you are too much, too many. So people are afraid to give you the, even though the sitting place is not. They are all envious of us because we have such a big space. So Gurudev ke darabār meṅ kamī kī nā ek karam hīna bhaṭkatā phirir chakrī mā. So in our Gurudev’s kingdom, here, nothing is less. Everything is spacious, comfortable, and has everything. But if you want to go to see a little bit of the market side, you can go up to the dam. Then go a little into the city and walk back to the Saṅgam, and then come back, okay? Charbhaji, so that you can come around your lunch time, 1 o’clock, have lunch, and then at 4 o’clock you can enjoy the satsaṅg, okay? So, but don’t take any valuable things. But what can be more valuable than yourself? Therefore, don’t get kidnapped, okay? If someone tried to kill them, he would scream with the classical music, Śāstrīsaṅgīta. Yesterday was very good. What was that? It was great. Thank you. Hari Om Deep Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān.
