Weekend seminar in Umag, Croatia (4/4)

Life is a problem, and the problem is life. Without problems, life is boring; with problems, it is unbearable. One must find the middle way. Accept the natural process of change, such as aging. Attachment and expectation lead to disappointment. Your spiritual wealth, built through mantra, is your true possession that follows you. Material wealth can be lost, but what is in your destiny cannot be taken. Dharma, artha, kāma, and mokṣa are the four pillars of a balanced life. Money is not bad if used for good. Renounce for others to find happiness. Protect your dharma, and it will protect you.

"Without problems, life is boring. With problems, life is unbearable."

"Dharma rakṣita rakṣitaḥ: if you protect dharma, dharma will protect you."

Filming location: Umag, Croatia

Any problem? You are sitting so seriously. Good morning. There are so many things we could speak about, but as much as we speak, it is too little, and as little as we speak, it is too much. So we have to keep in between. The problem is life, and life is problem. Without problems, life is boring. With problems, life is unbearable. So, somehow we should understand and keep in between. There are two questions about health. Someone asked about a bacterial process on the left breast that occurs every three months. I can tell you, the best is neem. Three times a day, drink neem tea. In one cup of water, just a little neem—half a teaspoon of neem consumed per day. Whether you are healthy or ill, neem will be the best treatment as well as prevention. So, let’s turn towards neem; it has no side effects. Many people have problems with falling hair. Many have skin problems. In America, in airplane magazines, I read how many thousands of dollars they spend to get some pimples away from the face. The best is neem. Your skin will be very beautiful. Try to accept the change in your life—what we call midlife crisis. Nowadays, the midlife crisis begins already by 27 years. Yes. How many people in America or other countries get cosmetic surgery? It doesn’t matter how much you do cosmetic surgery; if you are 30 years old, you cannot be 15 years old. Outer look is not the inner reality. So, learn to accept the process of nature. You cannot always be like a 10-year-old child, jumping here and there. We can jump, no problem, but only twice: the first and the last. Therefore, we have to respect nature. Many people are very happy to be old. Many are looking forward to becoming old. That desire will calm down a little bit. The mind is never old. The mind is always the same. Feelings, but thanks to Mother Nature, gave the limitations, and we shall respect the limitations of life. Therefore, it is said the body has three dharma, or the dharma of the body is three: to be born, to grow, and again to die. If you accept or not, that will not change. So, there is one question: How to accept and how to digest things? Very easy. It is there. It is as it is. Accept or not, it doesn’t change. Then why do you suffer? Just accept it. Find protection. Accept cold weather and protect with warm cloth. Accept hot weather and protect with a ventilator or air conditioner. So, the protection for us, the best protection, is the name of God, our mantra. We believe, we trust, we respect. That mantra, the name is holy for us. It is divinity in that. It is the truth. It is that God within it. We worship, we believe, we respect, we adore. If you have these feelings, then all problems will go away. And if you do not have these feelings, problems can always be there. Sooner or later, there is disappointment, and then why should we get a test on the things? Attachment is a cause of disappointment. Expectation leads to disappointment. Therefore, when you begin some attachment, then parallel to the attachment, the disappointment is developing. And sooner or later, the disappointment will take over. If not through some actions, then through nature. We love our dear one. Our dear one will never disappoint us, maybe our parents or our children, our friends, partners. But one day, by death, it will be separated, and that is painful. That pain of the death, the separation, is another form of disappointment. Then we begin to blame ourselves: "I could have done this better. I could have done that better." Therefore, we always take these words of Gandhījī as a lifelong guidance: this sentence, "Be the change you want to see." Therefore, Jesus said, "Thou shalt not carry." Believe in your destiny; we call it bhagya. The destiny is the production of our karma, our deeds. The result, the fruits of the karma, is the destiny. So, if it is in your destiny... Something is there no one can take away. Anyone can take away from your hands, but not from your destiny. All the time, people used to have at home the gold and silver and jewelry. Now they have the bank. You have a safe in the bank. And all the time, people used to hide somewhere in the house. There was one small village, about 50 or 60 houses. And there was one businessman working hard. And the businessman who knows how to do business is rich, but some are rich with money, and you are also a business person, and you are very rich also, but you are a spiritual business person, so you have richness of spirituality. As many times you repeat your mantra, it’s deposited in your bank, spiritual bank, one million times. You have one million. So you are also very greedy. Always we say, "Guru Dīp, Guru Dīp, Guru Dīp," we put money in, put money in, but the spiritual richness... The spiritual wealth will follow you; it will remain with you in every life, but this worldly, material wealth will stay here. So that merchant, we call Benia, he was rich, and his wife had so many jewelries, bling-bling, here and here and here and here and here and here. I don’t know where, everywhere. Man tried, poor man. Man tries everything to keep the wife happy. If she said, "I want to buy this," he said, "Okay." If she said, "I want to buy this," okay. If he will say no, then we’ll get vegetable without salt. That’s it. You must understand the position of the men, how poor they are. Night and day, night and day, they work very hard to keep darling happy. But it seems they are never happy. They said, "In my destiny is everything. In my destiny is a good husband." A good husband will give everything to his wife. And the best wife will preserve everything and will keep the dignity of the husband always higher. Wives are the best finance ministers. In India, there is a system. It was. Now I don’t know. I’m nearly 40 years out of India. At the end of the month or the end of the day, men, whatever salary one gets, come home, take the money, and give it to their wives. And the wife will take it and put it somewhere here. A husband should never ask, "Where is your money?" And she will never let her husband go out of the door without pocket money. She will always check that he has a clean, ironed dress, good eating, good hair comb, pocket money, good shoes. Her duty is to put the position and dignity of her husband always best. They will go together for shopping, but man has no choice. Wife will decide, "You will have this shirt." He said, "No, I don’t like this. I want to have this one." She said, "You want to look to your shirt, or should I look to your shirt?" That’s it. And when she buys something, lipstick and so on, husband says... Too much, too expensive, she said, because you would like to see me like that. But that’s why you want to see me so beautiful. In every case, man is guilty. No, I always support the woman. But today is International Day of Men. That’s it. Every decision makes the woman. The decision-maker is a man, but to grant permission is the woman. The man is the head, the decision-maker, but the woman is the neck. Head cannot say yes or no. And that’s why men try to keep a woman in hand, always with a tie, the neck, that’s it. So this is the beauty of life. Man is born for working, to protect family, feed family, protect society, and work. And the women are born to look after, oversee, and maintain the entire economy. Therefore, women are the symbol of love. A love, divine love, mother love. And father is love also, the umbrella, the protector. Like this, both hands wash together. One hand is very difficult to wash, but both together can clean that. And so, husband and wife, if wife and husband have the same opinion, they will have power in the heaven. But one situation in the life: husband said no, wife said yes. Husband said no, and always goes away. You have to surrender. You have to surrender to your wife, and your wife has to surrender to you. Śiva is meditating and praying to Viṣṇu, and Viṣṇu is meditating and praying to Śiva. So, first thing, for you, your duty is to create a good, harmonious relation with your partner. If you cannot, you have failed. You have failed in your life. If you lost your business, you lost nothing. If you lost your whole company and money, you lost nothing. But if you lost your partner, you lost something in life. We used to say, "What kind of man are you that even you can’t look after one woman?" Are you not capable of satisfying her? That’s it. So man and woman have such a beautiful relation, sometimes like father and mother, like brother and sister. Don’t always think about sex. This is the last thing you should think. You are born to create a happy, spiritual, balanced family. So if someone has today in the mind to get divorced, I will advise you: take the divorce paper in the hand like this, read it, and then make it like this. You divorce your thoughts. That’s it. Accept. Accept something, swallow and digest for the sake of others. Not only for your sake. As soon as you become selfish, the situation will become very worse in the family. Then everyone will have their own direction. Trust, trust, trust your wife. Give it in her hands, all your bank cards and credit cards and everything. Then you will see that you have a lot of money given to her, and you don’t know where it disappeared. There’s one joke. I will tell you the story about a merchant. I didn’t forget. The new technology developed. What we call a cell phone, a mobile phone. One man, he was very rich, and his wife was also very fashionable. Only to buy the things which are very fresh, new in the market, new technology, expensive. There are many people, you know, there are many ladies, ten times a day they make their nails like this. And then they talk to their husband. You know how? I told you. Psychologically, I told you. You didn’t understand, my dear. You know, so you go, "Oh, beautiful." That’s it. And so her husband was in the sauna. And in the sauna, there were about twenty men. And so they were in the sauna, and the telephone was lying outside in the resting room. And the telephone was ringing. So the man who owned the telephone was in the sauna, so another man answered. Hello. She said, "Hello, my dear, how are you? It’s very hot." Yes. Well, I didn’t want to disturb you. But I just saw one of the best, beautiful, new models of the Mercedes. No one has bought yet. This will be the first one. And it’s only one and a half million euros. Darling, can I use your card? No problem. Yes, but you know, I was going through the fashion house, and there’s a new design dress there. It’s designed by one of the world’s most famous designers. Yeah, and the shoes. The shoes have $4,000. And the dress is about $50,000. Can I buy it here? Yes. Yes, but it’s not finished. I’m sorry to keep you from your sauna, and you know, there was one of the best diamond jewelers from India. Oh, that’s a master work. When we go today to the opera, it will be something. All media cameras will be on my end and you, my dear. It’s just 5 million euros. Can I do it? Yes. Finished. That man came in the sauna. Man, while she gave the credit card, she bought everything. And the man came into the sauna and said, "Gentlemen, to whom does the telephone belong?" That’s it. Money was gone. Don’t forget your phone. So the destiny, destiny... Bhagya, Bhagya, so that wife of the merchant, she had a lot of gold. In the night, thieves came and they were beating the merchant. They tried to put kerosene on him and took the matchbox in hand. "Show us where the treasure is," so he showed it, and they took it away and went away. After three years, again she had a lot of jewelry. And again, they came one night, four times. They took everything away, not even a small ring remained. And the fifth time they came again, three of them. And they say to the businessman. Say to him, "We call the businessman the merchant." We are not here today to steal or take away from you anything. We came to you to ask one question. Four times we came and we took everything from you, all jewelry of your wife, but the result: our wives have not even a little golden thing in her nostril. It is always happiness and gold. And your wife’s destiny is nothing. Therefore, whatever is in your kismet, that will come to you. So, business is lost, nothing is lost. Now in the world, people are saying, "My God, the banks, their banks are bankrupt, bankrupt." What will we all do? I know what you all should do. Do you know what? Yoga in the daylight. Money did not disappear in the air. Money is with the people. Money is on this planet. No one became poor. Only those who were speculating too much, and they had too much money, they lost. But nothing is that. We are not sorry for that. If someone has 150 kilos, and best would be to have 70 kilos. And so, if one lost, let’s say, 80 kilos or 70 kilos, we are not sorry for that; even we are happy for that person. So do not put yourself in that camp: "Oh my God, American banks, they are already closed, the whole world economy—what will we do?" No economy. Economy means Eko-Brahma. Eko-Brahma. Only one, and that is the Brahman. And nāma means the name. Only God’s name. That’s the richness of our life. Therefore, my message to the world, where are hundreds of countries looking? Do not lose your faith. And do not lose your confidence. And don’t think that the world will collapse and die. We should have more sorrows about spirituality. Money is not God, but God is different. Develop your spirituality. Therefore, digestion means take it as it is. Accept it as it is if you want to live. If you want to live happy, so renounce for others. Therefore, Jesus said, "Thou shalt not carry." And that Mahātmā Gandhi said, "Renounce and enjoy," if you would like to be happy. Renounce who is happy, who have very little things, and that Mahatma Gandhījī renounced his tie, you know? He was a barrister. He renounced his jacket, he renounced his underwear, and he renounced pants, and he renounced beautiful shoes. Always you have to make like this, and he took only what was necessary for respect. Morally, respect to the society: one cloth here and one cloth there, simple living and higher things. You know how many people throw that beautiful dress away every day, every year? This year, the designer said it’s a black color; it’s modern. Especially the ladies. They buy everything black. Shoes, dress, handbag, cap, hair, nails, everything black, and they cost a lot. And after six months, other more, the color orange. My God, orange shoes, orange socks, orange cottons, orange nail, orange lipstick, orange hair, handbag, and what not. Sometimes I look at my eyes, so many sādhus are coming. But sādhus will not come in the, what you call, the mini rock. And then after six months, again new. Well, that keeps the economy going. Thanks to the ladies, there’s a cash flow. The men will not make cash flow; men will just deposit. Because the ladies have the heart of a mother, to give everything. Therefore, life is a problem, and the problem is life. Without a problem, life is boring. 80%, 85% boring. And with the problem, life is horror. So find the middle way, and that is said, Mahāprabhujī said. That’s life. Of course, according to the family system, is given a family dharma, and this family dharma, to maintain a good, is called the four pillars of family life. It’s called dharma, artha, kāma, and mokṣa. Dharma means to follow the obligation. Dharma of the husband, dharma of the wife, dharma of the father, the mother’s dharma, and children’s dharma, as well as dharma towards society, and dharma towards other creatures, and dharma towards nature. Dharma rakṣita rakṣita ha. If you can protect your dharma, dharma will protect you. Dharma means not a religion. But principles, the dharma of the eye is to see. And the dharma of the ear is to hear. If you cannot protect your eyes, the eyes cannot protect you. So, dharma rakṣita rakṣitaḥ: if you protect dharma, dharma will protect you. So, what is the human dharma? Artha. Artha means wealth, money, the material means. And it is said, "Oh Lord, give me that much, that my family is not hungry and anyone who comes to my door." You will not go hungry. If you get a guest, you should be able to give a blanket for sleeping, a mattress for sleeping, and food for eating. And so, to maintain a social obligation is called artha. But too much means you are the slave of the artha. Day and night, you are concentrating on how to multiply, how to multiply, you know, in where you have the cows, what we call the cow’s table or the cow’s stall, there they have one hook, iron, and in that hook is the iron chain, and that ties the cow’s neck. So, as many things as you develop materially, means you are creating one more hook. We call it, "This is the hook where we tie to you." If you will be clever enough and think more about God and life, think less about the bank and how to multiply, that’s it. On the other hand, if you are very rich and you have many factories, companies, and so on. That comes to the karma. Dharma, earth, karma means you are giving a job to the thousands of families. And thousands of families are living from your intellect and work. When you have a thousand employees, then how many family members do you have? They all get something. If you give a provided job to one thousand families, it benefits about five thousand families. You go with the car. Car company benefits. The petrol company benefits. The seller benefits. Where you buy your food, that benefits. Wherever you spend your money, they benefit from that. So when you provide employment to 1,000 persons, then 5,000 or more than 5,000 families benefit from it. In this way, business is not negative. But if you do it only for your greed, then that becomes an obstacle. Money is not bad. If you don’t like money, give it to me, don’t worry. I will take care. I will utilize it in a nice way. I will give many bandaras, many cows, and many people. Money is not bad. Bad is if you utilize money for bad things. If you use money for good things, that money becomes for you a spiritual support. That’s why we give donations. That’s why we make humanitarian projects, that’s why we make it for animals, because we can give something, and when you give something, some sin goes away. You take a carrot out of the earth; it will not come only the carrot, some earth will come also. So if you give your money as a donation, some sin will also be cleaned up. Therefore, business and money are not bad. That’s called karma. Many people understand karma means it means to create children, and people understood it so wrong. So now it’s overpopulation in the world. All this family planning is hopeless. They need principle, discipline. Ethics, moral values, real teaching in the world. Education is missing: dharma, artha, kāma. So karma means karma. Do good karmas to get rid of bad karmas. And then mokṣa, the liberation. So a family, a healthy family, which have these four pillars very strong: Dharma, Artha, Kāma, Mokṣa. These are the four pillars. And so I wish you all the best, and let your Viśuddhi Cakra open in this space. Whatever happens, let it happen. It will happen. Sooner or later, you cannot stop. Therefore, always think. Oṁ Namoḥ Prabhu Dīpa Vināśī, Api Brahma, Api Viṣṇu, Apu Nāradī, Apu Saradī, Apu Śeṣukrāśī, Āpho Dhyālī, Āpho Gyālī, Āpho Yog Prakāśī, Āpho Deva Sabdevī, Āpho Śūra Prakāśī, Āpho Pramāṇirvāṇī, Āpho Cāmoṅke Vāsī. Āpho Vedonke Gyātā, Āpho Bhakturvāsī, Āpho Satnāmke Dātā, Āpho Niśā Rukhake Gyātā. Om Namo Prabhu Dīp Pranāma Brahmanam Holi. Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān Kī Jai. Śrī Śrī Dev Purīśa Mahādevam Kī Jai. Dharam Samrat Satguru Swami Madhavānām Jī Gurudevam Kī Jai. Sat Kṣaṇatan Dharma Kī Jai. Rishva Guru Mahāmaṇḍaleśwar Śrī Śrī Swāmijī Maheśvarānandjī Gurudevam Kī Jai. To us, Gurugrīj Rudev, greetings to everyone. Here, as we started, and as in one training, it is said that time is relative, and Einstein was right, and this seminar shows that time is a relative term. It is said that time is relative, so Einstein was right. And in this seminar, we can see that time is relative. When we are with Gurudev and in seminars, the time just passes in a moment. So this seminar also has come to an end. Gurujī in his book, Līlā Amṛt, said very nicely that, "Dear readers, take all that is beautiful, and all that is a waste, please forget it." And you know, so as holy Gurujī said in Līlā Amṛt, everything that is good, please remember, and everything that was bad, please forget. So, if we had some omissions in the organizing, please forget and remember all the good times and good things and darśans of Swamijī. But our getting together is finished for now, but we will continue today in Celle. And of course, we would like to thank our hosts. In India, it is said that the guest is God. And the director of this hotel resort has treated us so nicely that for these three days we even had her office occupied. Not only the hotel, but the whole office. Not only the hotel, but the whole, not just the hotel, but the whole office. So I would like to invite Mrs. Irena Kaligarić, the director, to thank you. Your Holiness, respected guests, thank you very much for your coming to UMAG again. I also hope that your trust in us has been rewarded, and this will not be the last time that we can provide this hotel for you in Umag. Your Holiness, thank you for the peace in the world and peace here in Croatia that you are spreading. And with this humble gift, we have tried to thank you for your coming to Umāg. These are some products that will remind you of us. Thank you once again, and see you again. Mrs. Ankica Bašić is the head of the reception, and she is a person you haven’t seen much, but she is extremely important, and we would also like to thank her for everything. Mrs. Božena Melon is the head of the kitchen. Was good eating, yes, very good. Did you get a fresh fish? No? Okay, then it’s good. Mrs. Rozana, to make our apartment this beautiful, she worked day and night before our arrival with her team, so we would also like to thank her. Mr. Miljenko is our chef in the restaurant, so that we can get nice food. And Mr. Darko Prodan, who is in charge of the equipment and this beautiful... Our life is little, not so nice, but one great product, which you know very well, and thank you for. Thank you. Thank you. This is called Bājā Dera, it’s called Bājan Dera. Thank you. We thank Vivek Purī also very, very much, and Ānandī, also the whole team who was working. With them, the technicians, the press workers, the designers, the posters, emails. For emails, so many females were occupied, and a lot of work is done. You know, everything here was perfect. On the right time, eating, good clean bed, everything in the bathroom, nice hall, comfortable, specialities for keeping shoes, car parking, everything was perfect. And that needs a lot of work. It’s very easy to say something negative, that it was not like that. But it’s very hard to get it all done in the right way, at the right time. Therefore, I think we are all satisfied. And we thank the general director for her kindness, for this warm hospitality. They always try to say, "Yes, yes, we will fulfill, yes, we will do." And that is a great thing. I was in America last week. Nothing is free. In the hotel, in front of the hotel, if you park your car for more than five minutes, you have to pay five dollars. Everything, money, money, money. And here, we are getting benefit more than what we pay. We pay so little money out of season. But we have the whole sea. We have the whole garden park. We have all hotel things. And people eat breakfast for two days, at least myself. Because it is such good air, and good appetite, everything. So thank you very much, Mrs. Director, and crew. They were all very kind and very good. Also, I would like to thank the security people, from the police also, for their attention. And especially our young children, our juniors, they were very nice. Finally, they managed to make a little noise. And so, the junior between 12 and 18 should come and give prasāda quickly. Like a storm. In seven minutes, the prasāda must be distributed; otherwise, next time they will not get a chance. And in the meantime, I would like to thank everybody, because in the beginning of the seminar, you heard of the action for the donation for Labin Ashram. We have collected 1400 euros, which is a good, nice contribution for their ashram, and I would like to thank everybody. So we are thanking in their name to everybody, and especially Swamiji, because he initiated this action. But you know, this is also just another home of yoga and daily life, so we know that we are all very welcome there in the new Ladīn āśram. This Prashad is a donation of the Eco organization, the Ecology organization, so this is Eco Prashad. Well, thank you for giving a donation for the Labin Yoga Center, the new yoga center. And the action is not closed, but the option is still open. So the donation box is still there. So it is said, last minute, if you can still dip in the Gaṅgā, that is still very good. So, whatever you can give, that is something good. To give donation, to give help, is for the household, very important. God gave five fingers to give. Therefore, it is said very nicely. All the best. A very safe journey, please drive carefully, slowly, don’t try to overtake. Unfortunately, every time some accident happens, so let’s try that today nothing will happen. We pray to Mahāprabhujī for his protection.
