Self- Realization Is A Very High Level

The path from self-realization to Brahmajñāna requires navigating the ocean of devotion and karma. Self-realization is merely the beginning of a greater journey toward Brahman. Upon self-realization, one rises above karmic attack like a helicopter above lions. However, even a realized being may still endure the physical karma of the body, as a destiny to be witnessed. Karma manifests as chains; negative karma is an iron chain, while good karma is a golden one. Both can bind. Those who criticize a self-realized being receive that being's bad karma. One must also relinquish good karma to avoid being pulled back to worldly existence. This process demands vivekā, or discernment. Control over speech and patience are essential. Doubt can cause the loss of spiritual vision. Life is a rare human opportunity with the freedom to choose the divine path.

"Father, forgive them, because they don’t know what they’re doing."

"Kṣamā baḍoṁ ko hote hai," or "chotoṁ ko utpāt," only the great ones can forgive you.

Deep Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa, Deva Puruṣa. Mahādeva Kṛṣṇa. Mādhava Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa, Sanātana Dharma Kṛṣṇa. Mādhava Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa, Sanātana Dharma Kṛṣṇa. Mādhava Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān Kṛṣṇa, Sanātana Dharma Kṛṣṇa. Good evening to everybody. Blessings of our holiness to all, and much love from me. Welcome to this one-week retreat. We had many programs, and last week the children were more peaceful. I think this week they will be even more silent and peaceful. We will have many programs. As usual, we have Kriyānusthān. Then we will have Brahmavidyā teachings and maybe some techniques. The subject is carrying on since the last program in VEP and in Střílky. Children, those who are under five years or four years, can go. It’s still very light in the garden. Thank you. Then we have another program, programs for beginners and advanced, according to the scientific system, Yoga in Daily Life. We have very expert teachers of Yoga in Daily Life who will guide you, and they can also answer many things for you. I will also be happy to lead some āsanas for you. Then there will again be the Kriyā initiation. Many of our brothers and sisters have been waiting for the last two or three years and have had no opportunity to get Kriyā. The condition is this: they have been working, practicing mantra and yoga in their life for more than three years; attending every satsaṅga; one knows the science of yoga, knows about the functions, positions of the kuṇḍalinī and many nāḍīs and cakras; all the mudrās, bandhas, and the āsanas; who have been practicing prāṇāyāma and can have the retention of breath, minimum 40 seconds—the bāhya kumbhaka, the retention of the breath outside, minimum 40 seconds. And you should have a recommendation from your organizers, your teacher from your country. So, please go and give the interview to the organizers, who will put you on the list for Kriyā in the session. Our Brahmā Kriyā is something beautiful. We will have programs; the time is fixed. And as usual, you will be the best one who always follows the instructions and the rules. Discipline. If you don’t know, then you ask some Austrian. Please, can you teach us how to be disciplined? The Austrians are very disciplined. So, we will see. Well, you see, it is difficult to begin the subject again from the beginning. It has been continuing for the last three months, and therefore, we are very far in the middle of the ocean. And now you are just coming on the beach and putting your first toes in the water, and it’s cold, cold, whoo, whoo... But suddenly the waves come, and you are wet till your thighs, and the second wave comes, and you jump in. And let’s hope on Brahmā, on Viṣṇu and Śiva. Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva, and Śakti. That is Bhakti. Trinity. That’s Triśūla. Triśūla. And the śūla is like an arrow, and that goes through and penetrates through and through. So it’s beautiful to see the waves of the ocean. Some are very far in the middle of the ocean, and some are a little nearer. And beautiful, it makes the ocean of immortality. It makes the ocean of waves of devotion, and it creates the beautiful harmony. Such bhaktas can change even the sharks into devotion. That is your duty. You have to jump into the ocean and make the sharks practice ahiṃsā paramo dharma. Nothing is impossible. What is not possible? Mahāprabhujī can make possible what can happen. Bad, Gurudev can remove it. Parabrahma Gurudev is here. Our Gurudev is Parabrahma. Sab kuch siddh kar deṅ, he can make everything. Possible, impossible, and impossible possible. Just have confidence. So let us swim through the ocean of beautiful Māyā. Enjoy the Māyā. Because otherwise, afterwards, you will be sorry. "Gurudev, now I am in Brahmaloka. There is no māyā. I want to be a little more there, in the middle of the ocean." It’s called a midlife crisis. Uncertainty comes. Should I go further or should I go back? So this is Brahmavidyā, which shows us that path directly. So this life is very rare. You know, I’m always mentioning what is said in yoga, according to the philosophy of karma, the law of karma, and the law of creation, where the 8.4 million different creatures are just passing through this cycle of birth and death. Pain and happiness, but out of that, one is the human. God told the human, "You have freedom." You have freedom for everything, whatever you want to do. "But now I will not take responsibility. I gave you the most powerful tool out of my children, 8.4 million, because every creature is created by one. And that one is in all, and all into the one. He takes care of them. He guides them. He looks after them, and of course they also have a kind of destiny. But oh, human, now I give you the key of freedom. And more than intellect, I give a higher intelligence, vivekā, that you can see transparent through and through. You understand what is pain. Now you understand what is suffering. But you are free. But life, what I give you, it is a battlefield, and now you have to play. You have to fight, so God gave everything. But in reality, he gave nothing. Everything is in our hands." Therefore, life is a mystery. Life is a struggle, but at the same time, life is beautiful. Divine. Nursing our iron from human to God. The next step will be God, God realization. Realizace Boha. Vaše práce. Vaše modlitby. Síla modlitby. Láska. But there must be such a kind of faith, and otherwise, you, human, after that, you have to join that line of 8.4 millions. This is a chance for us to come to God. Everyone has different feelings of God. God has no form, no name. God is different than we think. Human has created God. God has created human. Who gave the name God? Who told us there is a God? Who gave us the way to God with words, with prayers? So, O human, you have everything. Don’t think that human life is a final destination. After that, there is no more life. Who knows there is a life, scientifically proved life after the death, life after the life? So it is there. In this, we had been learning a lot in this Brahmavidyā, and in the past 42 years, and now we try to put the theory in practice, and that is something very important. It will take a few years to come to the practice. There will be chosen ones who can come to these programs. But we have to make first clear what it is. What makes for us possible or impossible? So everything is within. We are sitting on our path as a rock. And we can’t remove this rock, and rock is you. That’s it. Sometimes our thoughts, our words, and our actions become such a rock that you can’t remove it. That would not happen if you had brahmajñāna. Many books speak about self-realization. Yes, I too speak often about ātmā-jñāna. Ātmā-anubhūti, ātmā-sākṣātkāra, ātmā-darśana, or self-realization. They are different names. But now, according to the Brahmavidyā... Hey children, go out, please. Thank you. Mommy, close the door. Kṣamā kījīye, thank you. So these Kriyās have shown another chapter of this liberation, self-realization. Self-realization is just the beginning of a chapter to Brahmajñāna. Before we did not know, we only knew theoretically that there is Ātmā and there is Self-Realization. Definitely, it is a very high level of consciousness when there is Self-Realization. But now you know the Self. Now you have to proceed higher to become one with Brahman. So a lot of work is there after self-realization. Definitely, fewer karmas will attack you. You are above. For example, you are somewhere in the forest with a helicopter. And suddenly, from every side, many lions are coming. And they saw you, and they attacked you to get you, and you just took off with a helicopter. Now they are looking to you, and you make a photo. And you take pictures. Now this animal cannot have any abilities to attack you. You are above. Similarly, when you have self-realization, then these karmas cannot reach you. You left it behind you. Now, those who—this book said, and many others—then, those who will have a negative opinion, or criticize you, or talk bad about you, then all your bad karmas from many lives will go to that person. One crazy man took a handful of dust, and he didn’t like the sun. So he wanted to throw the dust on the sun. Here you are. And look how far it’s going. That fall in his own eyes, and on it. So many, many lives, those karmas go to them. Who will talk bad about you, or be angry, or anything? So there we can understand one sentence that Jesus said during the crucifixion: "Father, forgive them, because they don’t know what they’re doing." It means if Jesus would be angry or hate them, then he knew that their karmas would still attack him. So whatever was there, he left it behind. Therefore, in every tradition, in every culture, in every faith, kṣamā, forgive. It is said, "Kṣamā baḍoṁ ko hote hai," or "chotoṁ ko utpāt," only the great ones can forgive you. "Chotoṁ ko utpāt," a narrow-minded person will become angry immediately. Why is this like that? Why is that like that? Why did he say this? Immediately, like popcorn on a hot pan. Like popcorn on a hot pan. When the hot pan immediately explodes, that means we still have a lot of work to do. The second, it is said there are two kinds of chains: one is a chain made of iron, and one chain is made out of gold. But both chains can tie you. Not only that, an iron chain can tie you, a golden one too. So the negative karma is an iron chain. So, those who backbite, they will get more of your karma. Now, good karma is that golden chain. So, before getting freedom in self-realization, you must get rid of those karmas also. Give them to someone; otherwise, this golden chain will pull you back to this loka. You know the name of Swāmī Vivekānanda? And his master, Paramahaṁsa Rāmakṛṣṇa? Great saint. And his wife? A great saint. They were in Calcutta. Because Paramahaṁsa Rāmakṛṣṇa had darśan, the direct Divine Mother appeared to him from this statue, and he asked her for mokṣa. She said, "My son, I can give you everything, but it is a protocol: mokṣa mūlaṁ guru kṛpā. That is, Gurudev will do. Go to your guru, Tathāpurījī." And there he went. Anyhow, Paramahaṁsa Rāmakṛṣṇa had a very high level of consciousness. Fully self-realized. His disciple Vivekānanda adores him like God. We adore Mahāprabhujī, Devapurījī, Gurujī, like that. Vivekānanda went around the world preaching about Paramahaṁsa Rāmakṛṣṇa, and then he came back to Calcutta. It was winter, cool. Paramahaṁsa Rāmakṛṣṇa was lying in the garden in the sun, and he had a cancer here, throat cancer, and was coming out the pus. And Vivekānandajī came, he greeted his master, pozdravil ho, pozdravil mistra. A podíval se na Paramahaṁsa Rāmakṛṣṇa. Doubt came. In the doubt, he said to himself, "Is this my Gurudev really as I think and feel? I thought he’s a God, but he’s suffering like a normal person here." In these seconds, Vivekananda lost his inner visions. Like in the Mahābhārata, Sañjaya got the divine vision to give to the blind king Dhṛtarāṣṭra the knowledge of what was happening on the Mahābhārata battlefield. And when it was over, he lost that. Before that, Dhṛtarāṣṭra would like to know what is happening on the battlefield. "Oh, Sañjaya, tell me what my sons are doing, Duryodhana and the others. And what the Pāṇḍavas are doing, and what Kṛṣṇa is doing." Pitāmaha Bhīṣma, and sitting miles and miles far away. Sañjaya looked there, and he saw like in front of him things are happening. That’s called divya cakṣu, divine eyes. And it was said, when this battlefield will be over, I will take your visions back. Similarly, Vivekanandajī had very high visions, and doubt came about his guru. He sees his guru as a normal man suffering. Paramahaṁsa Rāmakṛṣṇa knew, he felt it. What Vivek is thinking. And Paramahaṁsa Rāmakṛṣṇa said, "My son Vivek, this is just nothing. If I wish, I just push my hand here, and all this cancer will go away." And he sat up like this. "Vivek, for that, if I do like this, I have to come back again in this chaurāsī loka. Because this is the karma of this body and my destiny, that I have to witness and feel these things in this body. So, my dear, many times what happens to us, no one is to be blamed there. We have to go through this whole process. Time will come, and things will change. Wait." Be like that wise bird sitting on the oak, more heard and less he spoke. Wasn’t that wise bird on the oak? Don’t say immediately, "Why is it like that?" My dear, you spoiled the whole milk rice. With your inner feeling, you couldn’t wait for one second. You spoiled it. Now you can throw it out. Therefore, wise men are they who will listen, will overthink, then sometimes may tell the opinion. But before telling an opinion, you will understand yourself and will give a positive judgment. Vivekananda said, "Gurudev, forgive me." "It’s okay, my son. You have to see still a lot in life." That was the last word of it. So the wise one is waiting. Otherwise, there was again in the battlefield before Mahābhārata. They made one water pond, or like a pool, and put beautiful flowers on it, made like a beautiful carpet. And the wife of the Pāṇḍava was looking from the balcony, and Duryodhana... He was just walking out, but he did not know it’s a pool. He thought, "A nice carpet," and jumped in. Draupadī, she couldn’t hold herself, she laughed. And while laughing, she said one very stupid thing, "Blind child is also blind." He looked up, he was like an atom bomb. The whole Mahābhārata begins after that, and how many people lost their lives? My dear, you must have control over your tongue. Viveka knowledge. Don’t be selfish. Oh, my God. There is one story. Do you want to know the story? I must drink a little water. Beautiful story. There was a big, big country, like Australia. In the middle of the desert of Australia, there are many, many wild camels and many other creatures. One camel had a very close friend, a fox. A fox was so nice to the camel, and the camel was so nice to the fox. They were always going together somewhere. One day, the fox discovered a beautiful corn field about 15-20 kilometers away, and it was guarded by a farmer. The fox said to his camel friend, "Don’t tell anybody. Only you and I will go in the night." The other camels were in doubt. In the night, after the sunset, the fox and camel made their way to the cornfield. And they went to the cornfield. The fox ate the corn. One, two, three, that’s all. Then the fox’s stomach was full. "I am full," and the camel is eating. He has a big stomach, but the fox has one weakness. Very big weakness. When he is full with his stomach, then he begins to yell, and the camel said, "Be quiet." And she said, "My friend, I can’t hold it. Wait, please." He said, "My friend, you don’t know how the feelings are. You would like that I feel, but I can’t," and the fox begins to yell. Suddenly, five or six farmers came with a long bamboo. The fox just ran out of the fence, and they were beating a camel. The camel ran away, and they were beating on his buttocks. The camel and the fox made a pardon. "James and my friend, I told you, I told that I was getting eating when you were not waiting. I couldn’t wait, my dear. You don’t know what feelings now. Yeah, let’s go away tomorrow. I will not do next day." They come again. And the camel began to eat, and the fox also. After a few minutes, the fox said, "Friend, I can’t wait. I have to yell." Camel said, "But my friend, I’m still not finished. I ate a plate with a little bit, but he couldn’t wait." Again, the farmers came, and Camel got so many bamboos. Again, he said, "Dear, couldn’t wait. You eat too slow. You must eat quickly." He said, "My stomach is bigger. Tomorrow I will not do." Camel said, "No, I will not come with you. No, friend." "A friend always goes with you. Otherwise, he’s not a friend. And how many years have we been friends? You can’t break friendship like this. Just a little bamboo." And he said, "It’s not a little bamboo. My buttocks are swollen." He says, "Good massage." Then the camel said, "OK, I will go with you, but on one condition. First, I will eat, and you sit. When I finish, then I will wait for you, and you eat." "Oh, good idea. Let’s go." Fox and Camel went. Camel said, "You wait." "Yes, I wait." Camel was eating for half a minute. Fox said, "This is not fair. I’m so hungry. I will cry now. You are eating, and I’m hungry. That’s not a hint, sir." And the camel said, "What is that? Not giving, eating someone?" So the camel said, "Eat and only one class. You don’t know, my friend. When you are hungry and you get something to eat, and someone tells you to take only two bites, okay, but the hand will not stop." Again, same theater. "I can’t wait. You don’t understand feeling, my dear. You must understand others’ feelings." Again, bamboo got them. So now the farmers are sitting very near, because there was a way to go in. Fox said, "There’s another way. There we can go in." "Don’t do this to me," the camel said. "Friend, this is a seasonal eating. Only some days more. Enjoy, my dear. Enjoy. Even you get bamboos. I tell you, you will not get 11 months again. Come on. Let’s go." So he jumped on the camel and began to bite his tail. "You go, otherwise I will bite your tail." The camel said, "OK, come on my neck. Let’s go." Again, they went to the field. "You wait," I said. "Yes." After one minute. "This is not fair. I will eat, because I know tomorrow you will not come. I will eat, and I’m eating. You eat also." Again, the same thing happened. The fox ran away, and the camel also ran, because we were on different sides. And it came, a very heavy rain. And there came a very strong water in the one creek, a small river. Now, a fox cannot swim. A camel has long legs. The fox sits. "Friend, I’m so sorry. I’m stupid, always I understand you, my dear. I’m sorry. And you see, the farmers are running behind us. They will kill me. Please let me sit on your back so we can cross the river," the camel said. "Of course, my dear friend, come on." And the fox jumped on and sat there. Ten meters this side, ten meters this side, heavy rain, water, wild water. And water was still in the camel’s stomach. Camel said, "My friend, Fuchs, yes, camel, what is?" You know, camels have one weakness. What is that? When they see the water, and you want to drink? No, no, drink? They want to swim, means? No, this is not a time. "Bring me other side, and then you can swim." "I say, Mr. Fuchs, you don’t understand the feelings. It’s a feeling. Can’t wait a second. Now I will sit in the water, and my face will go down." "No, no, don’t do this. This is not a hiṃsā. This is not a friendship. My dear folks, I told you five days you let me beat. I was beaten so many times. You had a feeling, you don’t think I don’t have a feeling?" And the camel slowly, slowly set in. Now the fox is in the water, and it can’t swim. And the camel is going deep in the water and out. And look how far he is. "Camel, camel, I will never say this. Save me, save my life." Then came a run. "Come on my back." He went to the other side of the river. And Fuchs said, "I will never express my feelings. I will learn to wait." And both happily went away. So, do not explode. Do not always tell your opinion. Be wise enough. Oh, my dear Vivek, my son, still you did not recognize what self-realization is, what jñāna is. So those who adore, respect, and pray, then this golden karma comes to them. Positive karmas. It means that all spiritual practices go automatically with that bhaktas, that disciples, many lives. And those who talk and go to the negative side, that goes to them. Then this swan, the soul has those wings of this karma given, and off it goes to the nirguṇa. Then begins the Brahmavidyā Brahmajñāna. Therefore, a wise one will listen, even if it’s unpleasant. Even against you, you will listen and use your vivekā. That is the way to come through; otherwise, you will fall into that again. That’s it. Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya, Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya, Oṁ... Namaḥ Śivāya, Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya, Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya... Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya, Oṁ Namaḥ.
