Appearing Of Jyotirlingam

The Śiva Liṅga represents the entire universe, the body of Śiva which is all space, energy, and vibration. During Śrāvaṇa month, performing Abhiṣeka on a Śiva Liṅga fulfills wishes and it becomes a Jyotirliṅga, the light of the universe. There are fourteen worlds within this cosmic system and 2,100 solar systems, each a Brahmāṇḍa embodying Śiva. Consciousness can travel these realms through samādhi. The individual soul can become one with Śiva, beyond all argument and duality. Doubt removes one from this truth, binding one to the cycle of worlds. Rakṣā Bandhan symbolizes the thread of protection and liberation from karmic ties. Cultural festivals are beautiful when understood spiritually, but misunderstanding distorts them. Our origin is one; duality is a problem of the mind. Inner impurities, disturbances, and ignorance veil the Brahman within, which sādhanā seeks to reveal.

"Śiva Liṅgaṃ means the entire universe. That is the attribute of Śiva."

"Rakṣā means protection. Bandhan se nirbandhan kīna, Gurudev? He can free us from this tie of the karma."

Deep Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, Dev Purīṣa Mahādeva, Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān, Satyasanātana Dharmakīrti. Blessings of Gurudeva to all of you. And much love from me. Today is a full moon day. Out of the twelve months, one month is dedicated to Bhagavān Śiva. That’s called Śrāvaṇa Māsa, according to Jyotiṣa. This is the time when Lord Śiva is manifesting. It fulfills the wishes if you do Abhiṣeka every day, at least 108 times, with the Mahāmṛtyu Jaya Mantra on the Śiva Liṅgam for one month. That becomes the Jyotir Liṅgam. Jyoti means the light, that light of the universe. You have seen, you have heard that in our Jadan Om Āśram we have twelve Jyotirliṅgas established. In Satyuga time, these 12 Jyotirliṅgas are there where Śiva himself appeared. So you have to travel around the whole of India to have darśan. But now if you go to Jādaṅ, you have darśana of all Jyotirliṅgas there. On the occasion of Guru Pūrṇimā, the beginning of the Śrāvaṇa month, and Monday, which is the day of Śiva, on that day, the twelfth Jyotirliṅga, which is about two and a half tons, came from the antarikṣa, from the sky. There were so many people who came around the villages to have darśan of the appearing of the Jyotirliṅga. It is like that if you make the temple of Śiva. He doesn’t enter through the door. He enters from the sky directly. So you have to keep the roof free. Or, before you inaugurate the Śiva, and then you can build a building or a temple, whatever you call it. It’s called Śiva Laya. It is the temple of Śiva. So on that beautiful dark or black granite, twelve different faces of Śiva are carved. That stone, it was a big rock, and our sculptors, they kept each and every piece of that stone. Because it is that rock out of which Śiva appears. Whenever you will have the opportunity to go to India, or some of your brothers or sisters, they can bring a piece of that stone. The sculptures came from far, from Rajasthan, a place called Orissa. And first they make light, eternal light. They were praying 24 hours. And until it was not finished, that eternal light was burning, and they had to take care of it. So they meditated or imagined, they prayed to Śiva, that’s called Śiva Jyoti, because from the universe first comes Oṁkāra, the sound. Others all have some creators or parents. Only Śiva, who is the entire universe himself. So the Śiva Liṅgaṃ means the entire universe. That is the attribute of Śiva. The space, endless space, that is the body of Śiva. And that energy which is in the entire universe. Caturdaśa Loka, Ikṣu, Brahmāṇḍa. The fourteen different worlds. And two thousand one hundred solar systems. The Brahmāṇḍa, that’s called Brahmāṇḍa. That Brahmāṇḍa, that is, each Brahmāṇḍa is created by that Brahmā. It has a different energy, a different creation. Each Brahmāṇḍa is one solar system. So the consciousness of the ṛṣis or the yogīs could go with their astral body, approaching 2,100 Brahmans. There are two kinds of main samādhis called Savikalpa Samādhi and Nirvikalpa Samādhi. With Savikalpa Samādhi, you can develop your consciousness with your astral body into the fourteen worlds. But with the Nirvikalpa Samādhi, the yogī can enter until the two thousand one hundred transistors. After that, there is again repetition, so it is written in the śāstras. Chaudha Loka Ikishu Brahmāṇḍa. This is in Hindi. And each Brahmaṇḍa is the embodiment of Śiva. That is the significance of the Śiva Liṅga. This entire body of Śiva is all the atoms and energy and vibration of the endless universe. So that jyoti, first comes that light; only rare people can understand. On the day when you really will feel in your heart, you become yourself Śivamaya. Śivamaya means you become one with that Śiva. So this Jīvā is the individual soul. The Jīvā becomes Śiva. But you have to have that kind of feeling and knowledge. There are no arguments. There are no philosophical discussions. There is no liking and no disliking. There is no why and no but. Those questions arise in your mind. If you remain within these fourteen worlds, seven below and seven above, they are in this brahmāṇḍa, in this system, where all different kinds of whatever you call heaven and hell and many things, it’s very interesting how the soul is taking over. It is very interesting how the soul travels, how it experiences. We don’t know. So many of us are sitting here, who will be the first going? We don’t know. You are all like swans, and we are in this ocean of saṃsāra, and suddenly one swan will take off. If this will take off as a swan or a crow, that depends on the karma. Kauwāan Sehan Sākya Jī, Sohaṅg Darī Avās, Param Guru Svāmījī, Maru Janam Sudhāryo, Āj Dūbatī Jagam, Mare Hari Guru Rakhī Lā, Āj Dūbatī Jagam, Mare Satguru Rakhī Lā. So he made us from the crow to the swan, but the doubts, little. Doubt? You are out. A little mistake, like in a football field, this you can imagine: on the line, just some centimetres out, you are out. And again he will say, "Oh God, it was just very near to the goal, but it was out." That was the doubts, ambitions, what Gyānānanda spoke in New Zealand dialect. Every country has dialects. Austria is a small country, but it has a few dialects. Who comes from Vienna? You can say it is from Vienna, Salzburg. From Salzburg, from Vorarlberg, from Carinthia, etc. Similarly, Czech is also a small country with dialects. Slovakia is, too. So what Ganon said is that he is very happy that the Czech and Slovak people support them. But I would say the whole of Europe supports you. The roots, the holy seed, the divine place, the trunk is Austria, is Vienna. And it is from there that divine energy flows. We are the branches, you are the blossoms, you are the leaves, you are the fruits, that he should know. The differences between the general meeting in his country and here in Europe. Holy Gurujī said it should be meetings and understandings and working together as a sevā. It should go like pearls through the thread, what we call the silk thread. Silk is very soft and gentle, and pearls go through like this. So these are the pearls, and meeting is that trade of the silk, and it’s moving. Where there is argument, if, but, why, how, there is a thread that has a knot, and it goes like this and breaks. So he is right, that you all are so beautiful and supportive. Always have been supportive, but New Zealand is beautiful; people are very supportive, they do their best, effective, so thank you Gyanānanda for your kind words. So, this is where I was, I have forgotten. Where did I begin? Your doubt is out. So when you are in doubt, then you are in seven lokas, going up and down. Guru Seva. Tumare Hatam Lord, I give all the burdens and everything of my life into Thy hands. If I will be successful or not, it is in Your hands. So, Brahman, the word Brahman, Brahma is a Brahman, the God, the universal God. That has no form, no name, but it is everywhere. That’s it. Sometimes I say that Brahman, but that’s not correct. If I could see you or touch you, I could tell you. But it’s like air goes out, so that is the Brahman equal everywhere. In each and every creature, Brahmāṇḍa. Āṇḍa means the egg, Brahmāṇḍa. Andha. Brahmāṇḍa. And out of this universal egg, that Śiva Jyoti comes. And the manifestation begins. Therefore, Śiva is in each and every aṇu, in every atom. Every time, you can worship him. But the Śrāvaṇa Māsa, from Guru Pūrṇimā until today, is Rakṣā Bandhan. And you were doing this, your sādhanās, during this. Yesterday was the last Monday of the Śrāvaṇa Māsa. And today begins Rakṣā Bandhan. Bandhan is not a good word. Bandhan means you are tight, you are closed. You are not free. Bandhan se nirbandhan kīna, Gurudev? Bandhan se nirbandhan kīna, Gurudev? He can make us from bandhan to nirbandhan. He can free us from this tie of the karma. But before the bandhan, there is called rakṣā. Rakṣā means protection. So, there is some story; I don’t know how far it is true, but people tell it in some places. So there was a king, and he wanted to see all the beautiful women, so he called them. So there was one called Satī Sāvitrī. Sati, a faithful Savitri, and he said that Savitri should come to his palace. Sati means the truthful. She knew what was going to happen, but God helps, so she took with her one thread, and when she came, he raised his hand after coming, and she tied the thread around his wrist, and he said, "Oh, beautiful, what is this?" She said, "This is Rakṣabandhan. What does that mean? It means I am your sister, and now your duty is to protect me in every aspect." He said, "My dear sister, my praṇām to you." And he gave her presents. And he gave up all his negative thoughts and activities. Not only was she protected, but he was also liberated. So from then on, the sister ties the thread on the hand of the brother. There is a sister’s day and then a brother’s day. Sister’s Day was three days before the new moon; this is called Śrāvaṇ Tīs. And then you also call Bhai Chot, the brothers. So, where sisters come and give something to the brother. So we have Father’s Day, Mother’s Day, different days. These are for the protection of our societies. So now they carry on this festival as brothers and sisters. And the government of India today gives them free tickets to travel to their brother and come back. Buses, trains, or any government transportation is free for ladies today. And it is a holiday, so you see, I came. And you see, my God, look, this Rakṣā Vandanā is full of my heart. So many brothers and sisters I have, you can’t count how many there are, and my duty is to bless them, to protect them, and wish them a happy life, a long life, and a lot of knowledge. And I will be very happy if they study. Good, and they should not be naughty. Study more. When they finish their study, then they should marry, and then they can be naughty. But not before that, okay? So this is very good. So thank you, children and all, for Rakṣā Bandhan and for giving me so many rakhīs. That’s called rakhi. Rakhi means protection. Rakhi means you keep your promise. Satguru Rakho Lājha Amārī. Satguru, rakho laj amārī. So rakhi means, "Please protect my saṅkalpa." So every festival is connected to cultural things, and when people don’t do it, they keep it spiritual inside or add some meaningfulness. Every Mother’s Day, every son... But it is very interesting, I can’t understand the calendar. Every Mother’s Day is on a Sunday. So the government doesn’t need to make a holiday. So I don’t know how this calendar is managed. As always, Mother’s Day is on Sunday. All mothers and brothers, children should ask the government, Please fix one date. And if it is during the working week, then please honor our Divine Mothers; they should make a holiday. And also on Father’s Day, they put it inside, "Father’s Day." No one congratulates the poor father. No, yeah, this is the karma of the fathers. We have to digest it. Or they should put Parents’ Day, so mother and father are both happy. So one festival more: Mother Parents’ Day. So the children can come and descend. Family Day, we have Christmas. So many, many, these are the beauties of the societies. It is a culture. Where there is culture, there are people. Where there are people, there is culture. And culture moves with the humans. Where they go, they bring the culture. We can’t avoid it. I came from India, and I brought some Indian culture here. And you come to India, and some culture you brought there. So-called Christmas. And what is called in India now, very in, is called Valentine. Oh my God, all Indians are completely crazy. And what stupid things they are doing. They make an announcement in the newspaper: names, and this particular girl or lady, that I love you, and so and so. And the husband reads it, and it is a cause of their divorce. So Valentine was a great person. He was like a friend from Assisi, he said. Peace and love, and love, don’t give the gun, give the flower. But people misunderstood, and you see how much they can misunderstand. In some countries, they celebrate Christmas differently. They say that Jesus was the incarnation of love, and today is free love, it doesn’t matter who is who, and so they are doing like this, so they say. Today is Christmas, no one can blame them. So you don’t know that girl, you take that or this and this, all is mishmash. So how do you see it? So you see, such a divine festival of Christmas is spoiled in such a way. That’s called misunderstanding. You should stand under the reality of that festival or that occasion. When you stand under, it means you accept. Then you are understanding, but if you can’t, then you are misunderstood; you are outside. So stay under those laws, those words, or you do not accept. But after, you say, "I’m sorry, I misunderstood." So you didn’t stand undone under those words and suggestions. So many things came out of the senses. It has a sense. Therefore, in the whole world, where there are humans, there are many cultural programs. Many festivals, and they are beautiful. Now, in this modern time, certain festivals and celebrations end in alcohol, end in fighting, and end in revenge. That should not be. It is the protection of our society, and forgiveness, understanding, and accepting our brothers and sisters in our society. So these two, full moon and this moon, it is the day of that Śiva. Shiva means all. Everything came out of Shiva. Brahma, Viṣṇu, and all other holy men, holy incarnations, and holy creations, all are coming from this one. One in all and all in one. There is one seed. And from this seed, the large tree grows in front of our door. And it creates many, many seeds, spreading them everywhere. But the origin is one. So our origin is one, one in all and all in one. So we said, accept positively. Don’t say, "In my culture, it is not accepted, these things." If it is negative, it is not accepted. But if it is spiritual, beautiful, colourful, where is the problem? So, the problem we create in our mind is a duality. So, duality—dua means two. Then you make from the Advaita to Dvaita Vāta. Advaita means oneness, and Dvaita means duality. No dualism. With this, we come here, we do our sādhanā, our anuṣṭhāna, and Brahmavidyā. Because within us is that Brahman, that Brahman is equal in all, but there is an immense amount of barriers there, Mālavikṣepa and Āvaraṇa in our Antaḥkaraṇa. Antahkaraṇa, Manabuddhi, Citta, and Ahaṃkāra: these are the four Antahkaraṇas. And these four are polluted, based on three things. Mal, Vikṣepa, and Āvaraṇa. Mal means impurity. Vikṣepa means disturbances and different thoughts, chittavṛttis. And Āvaraṇa is the curtain of ignorance, so we can’t proceed towards Brahman. Therefore, this sādhanā, what you do here, and now some days are left, but we will continue our Brahmavidyā lessons again. So very happy to see you. Vítám Vás. But there was written, "Welcome, Swāmījī." So thank you, children. And thank you, everybody. Very happy to see you. And I wish you a very happy and pleasant time. See you.
