Sri Deep Narayan Mahaprabhuji

The light of Gurudeva is the theme.

Gurudeva’s mercy alone carries beings across the ocean of ignorance. The dust of the guru’s feet brings ultimate liberation. The guru’s grace deletes past destiny. Meditate on the guru’s beautiful form in the heart, and worldliness stays far away. Repeat the holy name constantly to receive that grace. The eye of the heart opens through the ointment of the mantra. Without this inner vision, one sees only the outer fruit. Elderly people’s darśan equals pilgrimage. Parents give only blessings, never anything else. The impossible becomes possible by Gurudeva. When the heart-lotus blossoms, divine sight awakens. Faith is not tested by arguments, but by surrender. The vessel must be clean for that grace to flow. Mercy cannot be bought with money or power. One must become a true recipient through humility. Realization arises not from books, but from the guru’s living presence.

“Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī is an incarnation of Īśvara.”

“Sadguru kṛpā hī unkī vidhnā kī mitāvan hārā he.”

Filming location: Duga Uvala, Croatia

A very good evening to everybody. How are you? Kako ste? Good. Dobro. You are multiplying. Nice to see you. The day was good. Swimming was good. Someone said that the whole sea is smelling of agarbattī and some perfume, yogic perfumes. Very early this evening we spoke about one bhajan which was written by a poet in Udayapur, a famous place in Rajasthan, very historical, beautiful, surrounded by hills, like here, a little more green than here. It is called the City of Lakes. Gurujī was residing sometimes in Udaipur, and he had many satsaṅgs, many, many bhaktas. You read in the Āmr̥t about the king from Udaipur, his uncle or relative. He was kind of an atheist, and he did not like any spiritual gatherings. If he saw any sādhus or priests or any, he was very allergic. He was a very nasty person. Well, he had the power of being a brother or uncle of the king. One day, someone told Gurujī about him. Gurujī had a satsaṅg somewhere, and people invited him. So he came and he was listening a little bit, and then it was not good. And Gurujī gave the satsaṅg, and he changed. He changed in such a way that he said, "Gurujī, please, tomorrow you should have lunch." He changed so much that he invited Gurujī to come to his palace for lunch tomorrow. People were telling him, "Don’t go there. You never know what he can do." Gurujī said, "Yes, no problem, thank you for the invitation. But I cannot come to your palace, because there are a lot of chickens killed, a lot of pigs killed. Alcohol and meats and this—your palace is not pure." And people said, "Swāmījī, don’t tell such things. He is a wild and mad elephant, or a tiger." Gurujī said, "It doesn’t matter." Well, he silently went home. And when he came home, he told his people who were working under him, "I want tonight all pigs, all chickens, goats, all should be sent away from my palace." They were so happy because they were spiritual, but he didn’t let them do any pūjā, any sādhanā. And now he said, "Gurujī, I want to become your disciple, please give me mantra." Gurujī said two things. First, "I cannot give you mantra; my Gurudev is alive, Mahāprabhujī. You should go to him, and he will give you a mantra." Second, "You consume alcohol and meats and all this; you cannot get a mantra." He said, "Is it from today onwards? I told you that nothing will be. In this house, and in this body, will never go any more dead bodies, meat, and no alcohol." Gurujī said, "Yes, very nice, you are very great and brave, but Mahāprabhujī is our Gurudev." So Gurujī told him a lot about Mahāprabhujī. One day, what happens? He was coming from his farmhouse. And there are seasonal rivers or creeks, because of the hills and mountains. So heavy rain came, and the river was flowing. And he drove in. Now it seems that both his car and himself will be drawn away—his jeep. So, in the middle of that river, he said, "Mahāprabhujī, if you cannot protect me from this small river, how should I believe that you will let me cross the ocean of ignorance, māyā? Let me cross safely, then I will believe." These are the words of that person, which you have in your Līlāmṛt. He said suddenly, like some crane is pulling his jeep out of the water. Nothing happened, so he came and he told Gurujī. Directly, he went to Gurujī, and he said, "Gurujī, this and this happened to me. I want to see Mahāprabhujī." So Gurujī gave him the address. You can go. When he came there, Mahāprabhujī said, "You have so little faith." He said, "What do you mean? For this little creek, for that you took so much trouble to pray." So he became a great bhakta. Read Līlāmṛt. So there was one poet, and he also went and became a disciple of Mahāprabhujī. When he saw Mahāprabhujī, Mahāprabhujī—he was a great poet, a great writer. He could write a poem immediately, so he wrote this poem. Very nice. So I promise you to translate, and every time something different comes. He greeted Gurujī, and he told about Mahāprabhujī, and then he said, "If you allow me, I would like to read or sing one bhajan." Gurujī said, "Of course, who would be the unlucky? Who does not want to listen to bhajans? Bhajan is a nectar, immortality. Our life is for bhajan, for listening to good things." Now, what I am telling you is not a fairy tale. It happened in the middle of the last century. They brought the small child to the Ashram at four o’clock in the afternoon. According to medical science, after one or two minutes, the brain is damaged. But it is said, "Anhonī Gurū Karsake, Honī Det Mitāī, Parabrahma Gurudevhe, Sabkūs Det Banāī." The impossible can be made possible by Gurudev. And what is happening? He can remove it, and that is our Gurudev. You and I, we are small disciples. We are all bhaktas. What I am teaching, what I am doing, all in His name. The experiences of my life, you will not believe how beautiful it is. And there was a war twice between Pakistan and India. He fought in that war. He retired. He had children happily living in that village. Many, many of you know him. And even we made a video of him telling, from his own mouth, what happened. And I was lucky enough to see his mother also. She was such a great person. Very humble, very devoted, very great. It is a blessing to see elderly people. I always tell you, when you have any problem, I say to you, if you have any problem, go and talk with elderly people—your grandmother, grand grandmother, people above sixty-five, seventy, eighty, ninety. They will give you good advice. Knowledge, to see the elderly people, to see the parents, the elderly parents—it is like you are in holy pilgrimages. That is called darśan, the blessings. Blessed are they who can enjoy a long time, a long life with their parents. Do not ask your parents for anything, only blessings. And parents cannot give anything except blessings. Well, unfortunately, that man passed away, just one day before Devpurījī’s Mahāsamādhi day. He had a little health problem, and they took him to the hospital in Jaipur. In Jaipur, he heard that I am coming to Kailash Ashram in two days. So he told his son, "Bring the barber. I must shave, and I must go because Swāmījī is coming." He said, "The doctor does not allow it." He said, "My doctor is Mahāprabhujī, Devpurījī, Mahāprabhujī. I have to go to Swamiji." And unfortunately, that night he passed away. Who is born has to go. It does not matter who is who. We all have to pass through one door. There is no separate door—not a separate door for this religion or that religion. All have to enter through one door. That is called death. After that, your destiny will guide you. Your destiny will escort you, this way or that way. So, he is saying that the man from Udaipur came to Gurujī, and Gurujī said, "Now, how are you? How was Gurujī? Did you give my praṇām to him?" And he sang a bhajan to Gurujī. It is His words, His bhajans; I am only translating. I am only a messenger. I always say to you, I am the postman. I just bring you the post. Read, understand, and act as you like. As of His blessings, the poet, his name was Uday Ram. Uday. Uday means dawn. When the sun rises, sūrya udaya ho gayā—the sun has risen. Or other meaning, Uday? Yes. Now your good luck has awakened. And we call it Bhāgya Uday, good luck. So Uday says: Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī iske avatāra he. Bhagavān Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī is an incarnation of Īśvara. Bhagavān Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī is the incarnation of Īśvara. Jag Jeeva Jinke Naam Se Hot Sada Bhava Par He. All jīvas, creatures in this world, can cross the ocean of ignorance through His mercy. Jag Jeeva Jinke Naam Se Hot Sada Bhava Par He. Mil Jai Sadgati Guru Charan Raja Jo Sada Mastak Dhare. Those who put the holy dust of Gurudeva’s feet on their head—Mil Jai Sadgati Guru Charan Raja Jo Sada Mastak Dhare. Sadhgati, Sadhgati means after death you come to the Satyaloka. Sādhgati means after death you come to the Satyaloka through His kṛpā, His mercy, through His kṛpā, His mercy. And He brought with Him two handfuls of sand where Mahāprabhujī walked, and He collected and brought it. And he gave to Gurujī also. When your inner eyes open, when the petal of your heart is opening, then, called Divya Dṛṣṭi, opens in you—the divine visions. At that time, we understand what it is. Otherwise, not. Rare are they who have awakened the inner visions, like Holī Gurujī said: Śrī Dīpā Nirañjanā Sabadukā Banjanā. Deep Nārāyaṇ Bhagavān, Kī Jai, Hṛde Kamala Kī Āṅkhe Kula Jāve. Hṛde means heart, Kamala means lotus. Our heart is like a lotus. Hṛde Kamala Kī Āṅkhe—the eye of the heart opens. As long as we are here, we are intellectually open. Otherwise, you are without heart. It is not good. If you practice this mantra, then this eye of mercy opens. Jo Ḍāle Nith Nāmakā Anjan. Anjan means ointment. Who puts this ointment in the eye every day? Then you have good vision. So the ointment of God’s name, this mantra, in the heart, with the heart, opens Divya Cakṣu. Whose heart, the Anāhata Cakra, is awakened, becomes the poet, becomes the artist, becomes a good writer. It comes from the Anāhata Chakra. And when it just turns towards the brain, then it looks like a beautiful apple, a shining apple, but it is plastic, not the real apple. This love, this kind of apple, you find in your father and mother. Whatever they tell you, even if they are angry, they tell you with love. Understand their words, their blessing, their love. So, Miljaya Sadgati Guru Charanrajjo Sada Mastak Dhare—they come to liberation. Guru kī anupam kṛpā se sadbhakta ke karad sare. By the mercy, the blessing of the Gurudeva, bhaktas will be always successful. Do it in His name. But we say, let us begin with the name of God. In God’s name, we do in God’s name. Don’t say, "Let’s now begin on my name." This is our building. Then, in your name, you will not be successful. God is there. God exists everywhere, in every culture, in every religion. Even those whom we call atheists are not without God. They believe, but in a different form. They are very kind people. They are very helpful people, and they are ready to give everything. Only they do not believe how you believe. Who are we to judge someone? We cannot judge someone for what is in their heart and what is in their mind. I am sitting here with an orange cloth. I will love you only if you have all orange cloth. Why? Why? It must not be the orange cloth. It can be the green, yellow. It is your choice. Color does not decide. Decision is inside. How are you? Only looking at the fruit, you do not know the taste. You have to eat to know the taste. Anupam Kṛpā Se—here is written Shakti, this is wrong. Anupam Kṛpā, the bhaktas can be successful in their work. Page number thirty-eight in your bhajan book. It is good that we can make a correction. So, in all books, please make corrections. First listen, then do. So, how to get the mercy of Gurudeva? Din Rata Sumaraṇa Kare, always repeat your mantra, name of Gurudeva. Guru kṛpā tum pāvahī, then you will get Guru kṛpā. Before we said, "Gurū kī anuvat kṛpā se." How to get this anuvat kṛpā? Like through Śiva. What will happen when you have this kṛpā? Through that mercy of God, these worldly troubles and sorrows will not touch you; they will not touch your heart. Inside, you will always be blissful and happy. It happens. Many things happen in this world, good and bad. But if we are touched by that, then we will be the whole day in depression. We will cry the whole day. It is said you can cry the whole day, but you are not forced to cry. So therefore, inside, you have ānanda. Like a mantra, Kaumantro. Dīnārata śubharāṇa kare gurū kā gurū kṛpā tū pāvahī, jise tere jagat ke vikaṭa saṅkaṭa nikaṭa nahī̃ āvahī. Va parabrahma, va parabrahma Prabhu vahī hai, jag ke vidhātā mānato. He is the Supreme, He is the Parabrahman. He is the Parabrahman. He is the Prabhu. He is the Prabhu. Prabhu is that who appears, who comes on this Bhūmaṇḍal, on this earth, to protect and save the Bhaktas. Arbram Prabhu Vahi Jag Ki Vidhata, Man Tu. He is the writer of the destiny of this world. Only Gurudev knows our destiny. Jagadīś ke avatār sṛjan, hari unko jānatū. He is the incarnation of Jagadīś. Jag means the saṃsāra, this world. Īś me Īśvara, Īśvara of this saṃsāra, Lord of this saṃsāra. All the creatures. Jagadīś ke avatār. He is the creator. Sṛjan is a creator, not a doctor who is making surgery. In English, we say Surgeon. He is a surgeon, isn’t it? Doctor. But He is the Eko’haṁ Bahu Syāmī—I am one and multiply myself. So he is the creator, and we are his creation. Sadguru’s grace says, "Kāma, krodha, and lobha do not come near." By the grace of the Gurudeva, all this kāma, krodha, lobha, they all will not attack you. All these negative qualities: kāma, desire, passion; krodha, anger; lobha, greed, etc. Jag Mo Māyā, Jag Mo Māyā, the illusion of this world, Guru Kṛpā Se Nikaṭ Nāhī Āhī. By the grace of the Gurudeva, it will not attack you. Dur Nitke Hi Rehvahī—always will be away. Guru kī manohara mūrti, maname sadā dhāraṇa kare. The beautiful idol of Gurudeva, always you should have in your mind, in your heart, in meditation. Mantra says: "Dhyāna mūlaṁ guru mūrti, pūjā mūlaṁ gurur padaṁ, mantra mūlaṁ gurur vākyaṁ, mokṣa mūlaṁ gurur." Meditate on what? On the embodiment of Gurudeva, Devpurījī, Mahāprabhujī, Holī Gurujī. If you meditate on me, you can do it. But all the times you will see me talking, talking, giving lecture. You say, "Gurudeva, but I want to meditate." Therefore, the best is that Gurudeva is that one. Guru kī manohar mūrti manme sadā dhāraṇ kare, except in your mind, in your heart. That will never be caught by this māyā of this saṃsāra. In the net of the Māyā, there are many ladies, their name is Māyā in your country, so please do not misunderstand. I do not mean you, because this is a language. Sadguru kṛpā hī unkī vidhnā kī mitāvan hārā he. Sadguru kṛpā sī unkī vidhnā kī mitāvan hārā he. Gurudev’s mercy is capable of deleting your destiny. Press one button of Guru kṛpā. He said it, not me. I tell you once more again. I am just reading the letter which you got in your post box. You can translate by anyone. Uskato Beda Parhe, and on whom Gurudev will bestow His blessing, he is liberated. So always we pray for His mercy. You know, you go into the church, the Church of the Holy Mother Maria. You sit, Holy Mother Maria, beg for your mercy. O Merciful Mother Mary, we ask You for mercy. We ask God for mercy. But that is the kṛpā, the compassion in the heart. Why is He merciful? Why is He merciful? Though they had so many troubles, even her son was crucified, he was crucified, but he or she did not give up their mercy to all of us. Do you not understand their mercy? Who are you to give arguments? Just pray for mercy, and you will get it. With argument, you do not get anything. You go as empty as you came. So when you go to the church, go with an open heart. Yes, open heart. Your heart becomes a golden heart. The heart remains that life. Otherwise, I told and you heard—that is all. But here also, with concentration, someone told me one small poem: There was an old oak. On that old oak was sitting one bird. That bird more heard and less spoke. Was not that a wise bird on that oak? That one is a successful one, whom Gurudeva’s kṛpā goes. And the kṛpā, you cannot get through money. You can tell, "I give you twenty million liras. Twenty million? Gurudev, bless me, give me kṛpā." You cannot get it. There is a beautiful story I will tell you, perhaps tomorrow. How to get kṛpā? So not with power, not with money, not with force. Even if he would like to give, he cannot. Su pātra, that uttam sī śyā, uttam jī jasoh na jāī—where the vessel is clean, then we can feel something. Uday, who wrote this poem, said, "In my heart, the light of Gurudeva will always be." He told Holi Guruji, "This I got, that he sang this bhajana." Holy water—I was surprised. When I entered the church, there was a pot or a stone containing holy water. And what are you doing with this water? I was only looking. I thought it is for the birds to drink. But then I heard someone talk, "No, no, it is holy water. I will take it." They make it on the head. This is the Vedic Dharma tradition. When the disciple does not do, then the Guru has to do. So that is why Jesus even washed the feet of his disciple to teach them. My dear, it was the disciples who washed the feet of Jesus. But then he said, "I am going. I give you my responsibility. I adore you, I wash your feet." So much to learn for us. In all holy books, the Rāmāyaṇa, Gītā, Upaniṣad, Vedas, Bible, Torah, and Quran, the problem is in us, not in the holy books. You open and you read—everywhere it is so beautifully written. Often, I have multi-religious dialogues, and several times the Islamic representative said that in the Holy Qur’ān it is written, if you kill one human, you have killed all of humanity. That is the written, that is our instruction of the religion. Then why are we fighting? Why are we producing weapons? In Christianity, it says, "Thou shalt not kill." They did not say only human. And in Hinduism it says, ahiṃsā paramo dharma. Non-violence is the highest principle. So in this way, the realization of the disciple, what the disciple sees in his or her master. So now you will sing all nicely. First, we will sing our Hemavatī. And then you will sing. How? I will tell you. She will sing for Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī: iske avatār he Jagjīv, jinke nām se hot sadā bhāv pāre. She will sing alone. She sings alone this second version, and then she will come to Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī. There we will all sing this together. We are not artists, but we try. We are not artists, but we are perfect ones. Deep Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān, Kī Jāī, Dev Purīṣa Mahādeva, Satguru Svāmī Mādhavānandajī Bhagavān, Kī Jāī. One, two. Satgurū kṛpāhi āṅkhavidhāna ke mitāvanahāra he.
