The Path Beyond Doubt: From Karma to Divine Union

Life is a mysterious project bound by individual karma. All beings are individual entities defined by their actions. Humans possess intellect, which requires true education in ethics and divine knowledge, not mere degrees. Without this knowledge, one remains like an animal. Perform your duty without expectation of the fruits; God will provide the results. Through yogic practice and overcoming weakness, desire, and ego, one can realize the divine within. Doubt destroys spiritual progress and devotion. Faith lost is everything lost. The story illustrates how doubt in the divine leads to confusion and loss. Cure comes only through satsang, the company of the truth, which is the boat across the ocean of existence. Surrender ego and never doubt your guides or the divine play.

"Go ahead, do your dharma, do your duty. Just your duty is to work. Don’t expect the fruits; God will give you automatically."

"Doubt is something which can destroy your yogasādhanā. It can destroy your spiritual development and can lead you to confusion."

A special blessing is coming to you. I wish you a very happy birthday one day. For all spiritual seekers and yogīs, life is a very mysterious and hard work. The project of human and other creatures has been going on for the last five years—kuṇḍalinī. Kuṇḍalinī is that energy which is the entire endless universe. It is that energy which unites the consciousness and the species. It is that energy which is balancing, uniting, and harmonizing all visible and invisible elements: all the stars, suns, and moons, Kavaloka, Kīśora, Brahman, the fourteen different worlds, the two thousand different... just through meditation. With these eyes, they are not visible, but they are mighty. One bacterium begins to multiply in your body millions of times. Yes, and so all the creatures—it is an individual entity bounded by one karma. In that same line, humans are also standing. But humans have the most powerful tool, and that’s called buddhi, intellect. Human intellect needs a proper education: education, ethics, morals, and logic. Not what you call university and college, and this and those degrees. All holy saints did not have any degrees. All holy incarnations did not have many degrees. But that knowledge which they achieved is called ātma-jñāna, the divine knowledge. Otherwise, jñāna-hīna, paśu-samāna—without the logic knowledge, a human is like an animal. Therefore, animals are also victims of karma, and humans are also victims of karma. Because they are individual, and the identity of each and every individual is their karma. It is said, your work is your best ID. Karma karte jāo, phal dega Bhagavān. Yehi hai Gītā jī kā jñāna. Go ahead, do your dharma, do your duty. Just your duty is to work. Don’t expect the fruits; God will give you automatically. This is the teaching of the Bhagavad Gītā. So every individual, doesn’t matter in which form, is bounded by certain karma, or the resonance, the energy vibration, and according to that develops the quality in them, and so is the human too. Because humans have intellect and humans have the capacity, the knowledge, to explore the universal vision. Nar means human, and Nārāyaṇa means God. Through this body and through the practice of proper yogic sādhanā, yoga, and daily life, practicing the Kriyās of yoga and life, awakening the divine Śakti in your body, you can become Nārāyaṇa itself. But overcome your weakness, overcome your desires, overcome your selfishness. Overcome your ego, overcome your doubts. Doubts can make you confused, and doubt can steal away your devotion to God. Faith is lost, everything is lost, and you never know why Gurudev is doing this or why God is doing this. It’s a very hard, very hard subject to understand. If there is something good, then you will say, "Yes, Gurudev, Guru Caraṇam Yad Sat Tīrtha Hai, Voh Veda Purāṇam Gāte...." Voh Veda Purāṇam Gāte. Veda purāṇam gāte, Veda purāṇam gāte, guru caraṇam yad sattirat, Veda purāṇam gāte, guru caraṇam yad sattirat. The Vedas, Purāṇas, and everything else—the true happiness is only found, the true happiness is only found at the feet of the Guru. True happiness is something more. Abhaṁ Guru Caraṇa Sukha Pāyā, Abhaṁ Guru Caraṇa Sāgara Lera Samā. Ya Jaisi Sagar Samaya Abham Guru Charan Deep Narayan Bhagwan Ki. And then Gurudev tells you, "Go and clean the garden." You come back, go and clean the street. You come back to Gurudev, go and cook. You bring the food, Gurudev will say, go and wash the clothes. The next day, "Gurudev, my ticket is already booked, can I go?" That’s it. How big is your trust? In Sri Lanka, there was a battle between Rāvaṇa and God Rāma’s army, monkeys, and so on. They shot one arrow, and it hit God Rāma. Nāg pass. What? Nāg means snake. So, out of that arrow developed the snake and coiled around the whole body of God Rāma. From up to down, it begins, and the poison in his body enters. Nobody knew what to do. No one could free him. There was no one instrument which could cut that Nāga’s pass. No mantras were functioning. Then they were thinking, "What to do?" So all the armies were sitting there, and one bear, Jāmbavān, he said, "The enemy of this stake is Aḍla, the Garuḍa. And if we can bring the Garuḍa from heaven, God Rāma’s life can be saved. Otherwise, Rāma will die. If Rāma dies, we are all lost." But where is Garuḍa? He has holidays. As long as Viṣṇu is here on this planet, his chariot is the Garuḍa. Garuda was somewhere in the space, having holidays. Hanumanjī said, "I will go and bring the Garuḍa." Hanumanjī took a deep breath, and what he did, what he said, "Jai Śrī Rām," and off he went like a rocket, searching the whole universe. "Where is the Garuḍa?" Then he saw somewhere in the corner of the universe, somewhere sitting there and making a mālā, "Śrī Rām, Śrī Rām, Śrī Rām. Śrī Rām, Śrī Rām... Oṁ Śrīman Nārāyaṇa, Nārāyaṇa,... Śrīman Nārāyaṇa," full of devotion, full of love, one with the cosmic consciousness and waiting for his Lord, Viṣṇu, to call him, thinking, "My God, it is so long, my Lord is so far away," waiting, waiting. Door of my heart, open wide I keep for thee. Will thou come, will thou come? Just for once, come to me. Will thou come, will thou come? Just for once, come to me. Will my days fly away without seeing thee, my Lord? Will my days fly away without seeing thee? Night and day, night and day, I look for thee night and day. Night and day, night and day, I look for thee night and day. And Hanuman jī came there, "Jai Śrī Rām, Garuḍa jī Mahārāj, Praṇām." And Garuḍa jī said, "Oh Bhagavān Śiva, Hanumān jī, brother Hanumān jī, wants to embrace." Hanuman jī said, "No, there is no time for hugging. After, let’s go." But what happened? God is in trouble. I said, "What? God is in trouble? I know him many, many years. God is never in trouble. He has removed the troubles." Hanumanjī said, "No argument. Chalo." And Hanumanjī said, "Jai Śrī." And Garuḍjī said, "Om Namo Bhagavate Vāsudevāya." And both came, and like an aeroplane, within no time, landed where? Hanuman jī was standing like this, and Garuḍa jī was making praṇām and making parikramā. Hanumanjī held his hand. "Parikramā, praṇām, after. First, free the Lord from this Nāgbhāṣ." The Garuḍa is the enemy of the snake. Sarpa, śatru, Garuḍajī. So, within no time, Garuda jī bit him and tore him away. Rama got off again, came in the consciousness, "Oh Garuda, are you okay, Garuda?" "Lord, I am okay, but I am so unhappy to see you in this." "It doesn’t matter, Garuda. This is a lesson for us. Now go, Garuda. Pre-krama kī praṇām kya charan suve? Now go, Hanuman, Garuda. Give the Gurujī something to eat and drink, and accompany him till the divine worlds, and then come back." Guruji said, "No, Hanuman, I will go, my brother, and can hug you now?" Hanumanjī said, "Yes, Jai Śrī Rām." And Hanumanjī was making bigger and bigger, expanding. And Gurujī said, "No hug, praṇām." Understand, no? Hanuman jī again became smaller and said, "Bless you, my brother, go." But Hanuman, Garuḍa jī got doubt in his mind, "Is this really Viṣṇu? And if he is Viṣṇu Bhagavān, how is he lying here helpless, and he needs my help?" Doubt, doubt, aate hī, jaise dūdh me. Nimbū kā pānī gir gayā ho, yānī bharam paidā ho gayā ki kyā ye bhagavān hai aur inko merī kyā zarūrat hai? Phir bhagavān hai to is ye bharam paidā ho gayā. Bharam kā āṛat oṛat hai ki jaise dūdh meṁ nimbū kī būṁḍ gir gayā, dūdh phaṭ gayā. Immediately when he had a doubt, he lost devotion, bhakti. Now he is moving around the entire universe. He cannot sing "Śrīman Nārāyaṇa, Nārāyaṇa" when he is singing the name. He said, "No, no surrendering." Ego, doubt, anger, conflict. Now the Gurujī is moving restlessly like a mental hill. Depression. He needs some psychiatric treatment. So the depression began from that time. The roots of the depression came from Gurujī. He cannot sleep, he cannot eat, he cannot meditate, he cannot repeat his mantra. Can you imagine? Lost everything. You are feeling lost. Everything is lost. Your love is lost. Everything is there. Confidence. Garudjī was moving around the universe, depressed. Then, luckily, one day, a great ṛṣi came, Nārada Ṛṣi. Nārada was also singing, "Śrīvān Nārāyaṇa Nārāyaṇa... Narayan." And Garuḍjī came. Nārada Ṛṣi said, "Oh Garuḍa Bhagavān, praṇām." Garuḍa Ṛṣi said, "Nārada Ṛṣi, my praṇām to you." Nārada said, "But you look somehow unhappy, disturbed, disappointed." He said, "Yes, my brother, I am very much disappointed. I can’t understand my Lord. I can’t understand my Gurudev. When you do not understand your Gurudev, you will fail in this depression and in these troubles. No one can save you. Finished." What happened? He told this story. Nārada, she said, oh Nārāyaṇa, Nārāyaṇa, Nārāyaṇa. It’s a very big illness. This illness is not easy to cure, my dear. Help me, please, Nārada, help. I came to you. Nārada, she said, brother, beyond my capacity. I cannot help you when you have doubts and meanings, your opinions for the Lord. Karma bhogo, face your karmas, face your doubts. Narada, help me, please. Narada, she said, okay, my brother. Only there is one doctor, only there is one who can help you. Otherwise, in all three worlds, no one can help you. Only one who? Lord Śiva, Bhagavān Śiva, can help you. Do you think Śiva will not be angry? Say no, will he help me? Say yes, I think Shiva will be angry because snakes are Shiva’s jewellery decoration. So when Shiva and Vishnu meet together, then there is a problem. Garuḍa is attacking the snakes, and as snakes come to Shiva. And said, "Look, they are... He is very angry with me." And then comes Nandi. He kicks up Garuḍa. Then Garuḍa goes to Viṣṇu and said, "Nandi is very bad with me." This is a children’s fighting. Now, go to Lord Śiva with a little request. He will be gracious. So, Garuḍjī Mahārāj went to the Himalayas, Kailāśa Parvata. And Devadideva Swayambhū Śiva, sitting on the snow rock. And Pārvatī is sitting there and having some discussions. Garudjī came, Om Namah Śivāya, Om Namah Śivāya. And Parvatī said, "Oh, Garuḍa came, Lord." Garuda came to David, but he came without Vishnu. Shiva said he lost Vishnu from his heart. And that’s why he’s moving here and there, troublesome; no one can help. He lost Saul. Garuḍa came and said, "My adoration, Lord. Help me, Lord." Shiva said, "What happened?" You know, my Lord, I have a doubt in my Lord, Viṣṇu. And since that doubt, I lost all my energy, my meditation, my concentration, my faith, everything. Mahāprabhujī said, "Oh my mind, you lost everything with the kuśaṅgīs. You lost the knowledge, you lost the meditation, and you lost your devotion. That’s why, Lord, I came to you." Shiva said, "This is a very terrible disease. Only there is one who can help you." Again, Gurujī was sad. Shiva refused to help me. And when he cannot help, definitely, the entire universe, there is no one. Shiva said, "This illness can only be cured through satsaṅg. Go to the satsaṅg of the Kāgabhūṣaṇḍī, and when you will be a few hundred kilometers ahead, before you will enter into the ābhāmaṇḍala, the radiance, the aura of the Kāgabhūṣaṇḍī, all your doubts will go away, all disease will be cured. But it means not that immediately go away. Stay, have a satsaṅg till Lord Viṣṇu will call you back, okay?" So, dispirited, Garuḍjī searched for Kāgabhuśaṇḍi, and he went in that direction. And Pārvatī was very angry with Śiva. "I can’t understand you, my Lord. You have doubts always," he said. "What happened again, poor devotee? He came to seek your help, and you are capable to do it, but you send him away. Why didn’t you help him, Lord?" He said, "Pārvatī, it will take some time until you understand. I can understand. I am not stupid." The Lord said, "I didn’t say that you are stupid. But still, you don’t understand what I do. If you understand everything that I do, Pārvatī, then we will be different. Then tell me, why did you refuse? After some time. No. Now, unnecessary problem with Pārvatī." He said, "Pārvatī, only the satsaṅg is the creatures’ way to salvation. Satguru nām jahāj hai, chāḍe su utāre par, jo sādhak sevāde guru par utāran har." Guru Nanak Sahib said, "Gurudev kā nām, he, satsaṅg is a jahāj, a boat. Those who will step in, no doubt that boat will let you cross the ocean." Second, Aḍla, the Garuḍa, has a very big ego because Garuḍa thinks, "I am the king of all birds." Can you imagine? The king is going to the crow and sitting there, listening to his wisdom. As long as you have ego, you cannot surrender to the crow. And his ego developed very much to create more doubts in Viṣṇu. Therefore, double treatment. Parvati says, "Sorry, I am always wrong and you are right." He said, "That’s it. Have you any wish?" Yes. Let’s go to the Kagavushalli Satsaṅg, that I will have, never doubt. Therefore, doubt is something which can destroy your yogasādhanā. It can destroy your spiritual development and can lead you to confusion. Therefore, towards your mother and father, towards your brothers and sisters, towards your Gurudev and towards your Iṣṭadevatā, never have doubts. It doesn’t matter what they are doing. For you, it is a Līlā. That’s why it’s called Līlā Amṛt. Rest is the best. Tomorrow, same time, 7 o’clock, same space. We’ll see you, my dear brothers and sisters, through the webcast around the world. It will be in English still. All the best. Shrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa, Shrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa, Shrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī, Devādhi Deva Svayaṃbho, Deveśvara Mahādeva, Satguru Svāmī Madhvarānjī Gurudeva, Satya Sanātana Dharma, Oṃ Śānti, Śānti, Śānti.
