Energy centers in human body

The body is a perfect divine instrument for spiritual realization, containing subtle energy systems beyond current scientific understanding. Yoga science addresses consciousness itself, extending to the soul, unlike medicine which treats only physical and mental levels. This wisdom is transmitted through the master-disciple lineage of śruti and smṛti. The subtle body has energy channels and centers, like the kuṇḍalinī śakti and the cakras. Kuṇḍalinī is a powerful serpentine energy at the base of the spine, related to three primary channels. It must be awakened and guided properly through spiritual practice, as misuse is dangerous. The physical body, woven from the five elements, is temporary. The goal is to use this life to achieve higher consciousness, overcoming fear and attachment.

"It is said, 'What you have, give further, otherwise it will be lost.'"

Mātā Jākī Pārvatī, Pitā Mahādeva. Jaya Gaṇeśa! Jaya Gaṇeśa! Mātā Jānakī Pārvatī Pitā Mahādeva... Gajānanda Bhagavān Kī Jaya. Gaṇeśa, Jaya Gaṇeśa, Jaya Gaṇeśa Deva. Mātā Jānakī Pārvatī, Pitā Mahādeva. Glory, glory, glory to Bhagavān Gaṇeśajī, whose mother is Pārvatī and father is Mahādeva or Mahāśiva. Today we begin this week’s seminar. We come to our practice and the theory of the Maṇipūra Cakra. You should read carefully, slowly, regularly, and with discipline—not only as reading, but as studying—the book The Hidden Powers in Humans. Then we will have some ideas about the energy centers in the body. God has given us our body. Whatever is in it is perfect. God is perfect. Till today, no science could discover how this body is created, or how other creatures are created. You see, there is a very small spider with many, many legs. All legs are coordinating at the same time. Or there is a little creature, like a worm, what they call a centipede. It has hundreds of legs, or thousands of legs, and all are working very nicely. It will take time for science to create something like this as life and coordinate it all at once. So our brain system, all the glands, nerves, everything is perfect. When something is not perfect, then I think we cannot repair it. Therefore, we always say God is perfect and we are imperfect. But we can try to support, in certain ways, our body system, which is given by some ṛṣis or some doctors. The yoga science is far more developed or advanced than any medical science because the yoga science goes till the ātmā, and the other goes till the physical level and, at most, through certain medicine, to tranquilize the emotional and mental waves. So we are on the way. According to yoga, whatever we are learning and speaking and practicing—is this according to yoga? In due time, many, many things are lost. The knowledge is lost. It is said, "What you have, give further, otherwise it will be lost." So this is called the master and disciple’s role in life. That master’s dharma is to give, and the disciple’s dharma is to receive, and then give further and receive. So this is the transaction of the wisdom that we call śruti and smṛti. Śruti is what we listen to, and what has been written, what was heard by disciples, and that has to go to our smṛti. It is in our memories, so previously it was spoken and what has been heard. And that was spoken, and that’s why the ancient word in Sanskrit said, "Brahmaniṣṭha, Śrotriya, Satguru Dev." Brahmaniṣṭha means the knower, Śrotriya, Śrotriya, Satguru. So this is śruti and smṛti. Now, in modern technology, we have developed so many instruments that we can record it and listen anytime. Definitely, this technology, the science of technology, is developed very far. It has its advantages and disadvantages, but the yogic siddhis were very safe. That was great. It is like this, you see, sometimes thousands of birds fly at once. But till now, we have hardly seen any birds crash together. There are so many flying up and down like this, some overtaking like that, but no one is crashing. So similarly, those Siddhis were like that, definitely. Modern technology has also done that: there are billions of telephone numbers in the world, and when you only dial that number, it goes there, and no numbers are tracing together. So from śruti and smṛti, what is spoken, that is called Upaniṣad. The dialogue, the gospel of the masters. So what they realized through their sādhanā, they have given to us. But that is said, it should not be misused. Whoever is misusing that knowledge, the knowledge will disappear, and the misuser will become confused and lost. So knowledge was given with really proper confidence. Similarly, like in university, you study and every year you fail your examinations. You are studying medicine, and you have a medical examination, and you always fail. You think that professor or secretary or someone is against you. They are not against you. You are against yourself because you didn’t learn; you have no disability. When you are very good and best, no professor will purposely let you fail. Similarly, when the disciple was ready, the master gave the knowledge. To others, no, who will misuse it. So the yoga science goes from the physical level till the divine consciousness or ātmā. And this science still has not approached that. When they don’t know, then they don’t believe. It’s very simple. But we don’t believe. Yeah, because they don’t know. But yogis knew. They knew how the soul is traveling in the universe and where it is born. And still, science doesn’t know. And I hope they will come to know, not to know, because then it can be misused. Then they can teach your soul also in the astral world. Oh God, that will be terrible. But God’s world and God’s system is perfect. So in the body, there are so many things; they are all divine, nothing is lower. And it has its limitations after it expires. So it is given time; within this time frame or period, you can utilize it. And that is for our spiritual realization. So, in yoga anatomy, they say there are 72,000 nerves, and medical science does not accept this. So I can’t prove this, neither from the yogic side nor from the medical side. But I do believe what the great yogīs, great seers have said is true. What they mean about nerves and what medical science means are different things. So we shall keep separate; we should never argue on this subject. So this prāṇa, of which we have ten different prāṇas, is flowing through these seventy-two thousand nerves. And these nerves are channels; they are energy channels. Our consciousness flows through the nerve systems. When some nerve dies or is damaged, you don’t feel anything in the body. So the consciousness spreads around the whole body through the nerve network. And they come, they carry this light or consciousness or vibration, connecting to the gland systems. And definitely, there are many glands. And in the medical system, each and every gland has also been researched very carefully. So they also know for what this gland is. But what we still did not come to know is what the Kuṇḍalinī is, that medicine cannot prove. And in yoga, it is said there is a Kuṇḍalinī Śakti. This is a question which is not answered. Now, every gland is connected to that kuṇḍalinī śakti. Every nerve has a relation to the kuṇḍalinī śakti, but we can’t prove it. And this may not be proven. If it is proven, then there are certain times when there have been operations on this spinal column or other different parts of the body. So, if there was an operation, then what happened with the kuṇḍalinī part? Was the kuṇḍalinī also cut off? So the lower part of the spine, definitely for some people or many people, is damaged by accident or by operations. But we don’t see and feel the Kuṇḍalinī. That we will never know. This is the subject of the subtle body. So now everyone knows about this, what they call Kirlian photography. In Russia, I think the first person who was in Russia who found this was photographing. So he cut one leaf in the letter V, cut it. But the leaf is still living, and then make the photo. So there was no visible cut, because energy was flowing equally with both. That gives again a hope for those brains who only intellectually believe. There must be energy, and that’s called kuṇḍalinī. So, if someone has a defective body by birth, what we call a disabled person, or had an operation where the spine was broken and they are paralyzed, can this person also awaken the Kuṇḍalinī? Yes. Because it is said that the river has the curve, not the water. Similarly, the body has some defects, but not that energy. So this proves that there is an energy body, and there are different kinds of energy channels, and the most powerful is kuṇḍalinī śakti. The kuṇḍalinī word is coming from kuṇḍal, and kuṇḍal means a circle. That’s called a kuṇḍal, like a ring. And these nāḍīs, iḍā, piṅgalā, suṣumṇā, they join together after the maṇipūra cakra. And in medicine they said, after the navel or till the hip joints, this nerve goes, then it doesn’t go further. But the yogī said it goes till the end of the spine. Otherwise, that spine will not function anymore. So maybe that is not physical, but still, energy is flowing there. So it is three and a half times coiled, these nāḍīs. Then, this three and a half time is these three guṇas, meaning the energy is in three qualities: sattva, rajas, and tamas. And it has its facing downwards, so still going into lower lokas. So, this is one of the mythological pictures or explanations. These three coiled are three Nāḍīs: Iḍā, Piṅgalā, Suṣumṇā. And then the picture is given, like a snake. The snake is coiled and has its head down, resting. So the snake has many, many meanings because "kāla" means past time, and "kāla" means the date, and "kāla" means poison, and therefore "kāla" means that snake. So it depends; this word "kāla" depends on which subject we use this word with. Energy is powerful. Similar to electricity, this electricity, this electric power can kill us, but it can also save our life. How to utilize this? That is very important. I have a microphone on my head, but there is also electricity. But how it has been used, you don’t feel anything, and it’s not harmful to you. So it depends on how we wear this energy, using and functioning. So otherwise, without knowing, if you touch the electricity, then it can be like a cobra. It will catch you. That’s why it is said kuṇḍalinī is like a snake, serpent power, the snake. Another is symbolizing a snake, not as dangerous or anything like that, but it’s just like a snake moving with curves, crawling. And that is the movement or the path of these three nāḍīs, Iḍā, Piṅgalā, and Suṣumnā. They are going like this, and that’s why it’s called serpentine, the way like a serpentine, a curvy path. Drive carefully. Many dangerous curves. So this Śakti, where its end changes, its ending is at the bottom of the spinal column. And this Śakti is controlled or awakened by certain kriyās, exercises. If you do not know and you have no mantra, guru mantra, and spiritual development, this śakti can destroy us. Sometimes this śakti awakens, and it gives you good things. But then you don’t care about it, and you misuse it, and you go to a different way of life. Then your entire inner way of thinking changes into the opposite direction. Then it is said it can be dangerous, life dangerous. It is self-killing, so some people who do the self-suiciding, because they went against certain energies. And that kills it. So you put the electricity in your room very nicely, but now you don’t respect it. And this one day will kill you, so power needs control. And that power is controlling our body through the spiritual injections. These injections are given by those realized, self-realized ṛṣis. But we don’t care, we don’t believe, and that’s why things happen. So prāṇa, apāna and samāna, udāna and vyāna, these five prāṇas, they are working very strongly in the body. Prāṇa and apāna, these two are parallel moving energies with the kuṇḍalinī śakti. It’s like in the river, the current of the river, how strong the river is flowing, and the suṣumnā is which gives the path to pass, to throw, to go through. And this comes mostly, the junction is there, what we call the Maṇipūra Cakra. These two, Mūlādhāra and Svādhiṣṭhāna, this is the hardest part. Then, every mile where you come, every station where you come, is also not easy, but it needs concentration and practice. So when our mental level is healthy, when we are content with ourselves and everything is clear to us, then we understand our physical pain, our physical problem, and we know it is, but we are above. We know that we don’t want to die; we know that we would like to live longer. And we know that one day we have to die, but a wise person will understand and take this as a period of time for sometimes only. But myself, my journey is leading me somewhere. Who knows how many times I had such a body. How many mothers and fathers I had. How many sisters and brothers I had. And how many partners I had? All had their limitations. They stopped in one place, but I just go. My journey continues. So this life is a journey, not a destination. Like this, when we will think, it will disturb the worldly things less, not so much. And for that, to get over the fear of death is the Maṇipūra Chakra. And to feel, the most fear is in the Maṇipūra Chakra. After Maṇipūra Chakra, this fear transfers to the heart. And from the heart to the Ājñā Chakra. So these are the chakras: Ājñā Chakra, heart, Maṇipūra, and Mūlādhāra. These are the centers which are very sensitive, fearful, or bring the clarity. So our practice, which we will do during this week, let’s realize something, let’s understand something more. So this Maṇipūra Chakra is the center, the middle center of everything. From this sixth chakra, mostly they call it the sixth chakra, the maṇipūra is in the middle of it. But according to Kuṇḍalinī Yoga, actually there are eight chakras. And that’s why Guru or Kabīr Dās said in his bhajans also, "Aṣṭakamala kā charakhā banāyā, pāñch tattva kī punī, naudhas mās bunanko lagā, murkha melī kīnī, chadariyā jīnī re jīnī, Rām nām ras bhīnī, chadariyā jīnī re jīnī." In this little sentence, he described everything. Aṣṭakamala, the eight lotus. Kamala is a lotus. You know, you always sing bhajan. If I live in this world, O Lord, let me live like a lotus in the water. Above the water. Living in the water but above it, it doesn’t go down. So, my Lord, if I am in this world, then let me be above the ocean water of all these worldly problems and emotions. Like in Jñāna Yoga, it is said: śravaṇa, manana, nididhyāsana, vairāgya, uparati, samādhāna, vicāra. Uparati means be above. Vairāgya means be above. We know it is happening, it will happen, then why are you so sad? Why do you have such restless nights? Go and sleep. What happened has happened, and what will not happen will not happen, and what is going to happen will happen too. Why should I quit such a beautiful sleep? Good night, alright? And don’t fight, even if a mosquito bites. Okay, that’s it. So, you should be able to detach from your fear, your sorrows. So, I may stay in this world like a lotus above. So, these are aṣṭa kamala, eight lotuses in our body. One, two, three, four, five, six, seven, eight chakras. And charkha is a spinning wheel. And that cotton material, which we make into a beautiful thread, is the five elements. Five elements. So this skin of the whole body is like one cloth, like a shawl. And this is made from the material of the five elements. It took me nine to ten months to make this in my mother’s body. Nine to ten months. Nine to ten months. But a foolish one made this all dirty. This all was colored in the color of God’s color. The stupid one has made it all dirty. It is so fine, so fragile. The juice of God is colored with the juice; rasa means juice. In that color of God, it has been colored. And that color of God is blood. It doesn’t matter if you are European, African, Chinese, Asian, or South American. All our blood has the same color. It doesn’t matter if it’s an animal or a bird; everyone’s blood is red. That is called proof that we are all one, one God’s children. So this human body is a miracle body. So this body, it has something in it. So this is given for some time. But we are still attached, still we have fear. Maybe we have fear, not different thing, but we have fear that without achieving our spiritual goal or fulfilling our dharma, we die, then we have to come back. So use all these energies, abilities, all the tools that God has given us to achieve the higher consciousness. So we will continue afterwards and wish you a very good day and some practices. So we will do some practice. First, a little interval. Yes, the next webcast will be at 8 o’clock in the evening. God bless you. Deep Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī... Om Śānti Śānti...
