Healing power of Mother Earth

Healing through connection with Mother Earth and Udāsī Mauna.

Walking barefoot in organic mud transfers minerals and vibrations from the earth into the body. This contact heals allergies and releases stress. Cow dung from grass-fed cows does not stink. Cow dung plaster combats asthma. The Agnihotra practice with that dung purifies air and prevents flu. A family’s allergies vanished after working barefoot at a cow farm. Daily barefoot meadow walking for five to ten minutes is recommended. Udāsī Mauna requires withdrawing inward for contemplation. One examines personal and impersonal problems. Understanding the situation prevents sadness. For impersonal problems, recognize the larger context. For personal problems, firmly resolve to change. Approach problems from the side, not head-on. Walking in nature with a mālā during Udāsī Mauna brings peace and clarity. Extreme sādhanā is not advisable; balance is necessary. Connection with nature circulates energy and refreshes.

“Direct connection between Mother Earth and our skin, and many minerals… they transfer into our body.”

“When you want to solve problems, first gain clarity. Then try to approach the solution from the side; do not jump directly in.”

Welcome. It is good to see you. The Anuṣṭhāna Sādhanā is a profound undertaking. Seniors hold the first priority; juniors, please understand. I do believe you have had a wonderful time. To feel, to touch, and to become one with nature is the finest healing process. Lucky are those who have a garden. Blessed are they who have the opportunity to visit a garden and, even more, to do something there. Your garden should be organic, and your fields should be organic. Then, when you go into your garden barefoot, walk and let your feet become muddy—truly muddy with the earth. Touch the soil directly with your hands, though carefully, ensuring there are no thorns or shards of glass or discarded injection needles. Sometimes people sit in a garden to give injections and thoughtlessly throw the needle. This kind of therapy, this practice, blesses us with robust physical and mental health. It is among the best remedies for releasing stress. We know that the earth and its mud contain many minerals. It is immensely rich in nutrients, and these transfer into our body. The vibration is vast, a direct connection between Mother Earth and our skin. Many who suffer from various allergies will find that if they work in a garden like this, they will surely heal their allergies. For those of us who live with nature and love animals, this is nothing new; we have known it since childhood. But for people dwelling in large cities, in towering multi-storey buildings that lack even a tiny balcony, things are different. They might have a small houseplant, yet they tend to it with plastic gloves. They do not know. About a decade ago, there was an article in Austria. Austria is a country that consistently produces the most striking articles—ones that pierce the heart like a knife and churn the brain like a washing machine. Why? Because our heart is so blocked that you cannot open it. Thanks to such articles, it cuts through like a knife cutting cheese. In a positive sense, then the door of my heart opens wide. The washing machine: people call it brainwashing, but that is a negative term. A brain wash is actually very positive; it removes bad ideas and harmful thinking, unnecessary worries. You gain knowledge. When something becomes crystal clear, then you can purify everything and understand better. The article told a story about someone with allergies: allergy to bread, to washing powders, to household dust, outdoor dust, to yoghurt, to certain fruits, to colleagues, to her husband. Her child also had allergies and skin problems. The family went on holiday to one of the most beautiful regions of Austria, a place known for its healing power—first mental, then physical and emotional healing. In some parts of Austria, which is divided into cantons, the most… complicated people live. They overwhelm you with their hospitality. You understand? They are what you call excellent hosts. That is why I am afraid to go to kīrtan here; they feed me so much. They have a habit similar to that in India: they serve you food and then bring a huge cup of hot butter, ghee, and pour it over your meal. My doctor asked, “Do you want to die?” I replied that I had been dying, but now I will live. Kärnton is beautiful, as is every other part of everything, because Kärnton draws its energy directly from the most beautiful place: Vienna. Without Vienna, that heart would be without soul. You should know that Vienna is a great place. That is why all Viennese who live in Vienna are free of allergies. Do you know why? Because they go to camp. So, my dear ones, that family went to a farmer’s house. The farmer was renowned for his excellent organic farming. He had cows, horses, sheep, and goats. The family went there for a holiday. The children ran about and worked in the area where the cows were kept; the husband and wife also worked and helped. Within one week, the allergy vanished. They removed the cow dung with their bare hands, walking barefoot, and so did the children. So that article showed that working at the cow gośālā, prācā, is the best remedy against allergies and similar conditions. Scientists later conducted experiments with cow dung. Now they are bringing cow dung from India to make plaster for walls. It offers the best insulation: when it is cold outside, it stays warm inside; when it is warm outside, it stays cool inside—and it is healthy, so healthy. It works against asthma. Many people cannot sleep without using some kind of spray. If you sleep in a room where the walls are plastered with these cow dung cakes, it will heal your asthma. The smoke of cow dung has been known for about forty to fifty years. A spiritual technique called Agnihotra was introduced in Europe. Every day, you perform a small yajña. There is a little portable fireplace with some charcoal, and you place dry cow dung on it. This purifies the air and the atmosphere. But the cow dung must come from a cow that is not fed artificial feed or any kind of grain, especially corn. As soon as you feed them grains, the cow dung begins to stink. So it is advised to use dung from cows that eat only good grass and dry grass. When the flu season arrives, if you perform Agnihotra every day, you need not take any injection against flu or infection. Such is the power of that cow dung. Working in that environment is profoundly healthy and promotes a long life. So, direct connection to Mother Earth is immensely beneficial. Today, you were doing some work in the garden; many of you wore gloves or tall shoes. Still, we are trying earnestly, and I can sense that you enjoyed it. Can you give me feedback? Did you enjoy it? The webcast team said that only three percent answered yes. So, did you feel the energy of nature? Did you enjoy the experience? Yes, good. It also circulates energy. Our blood circulation improves, and our muscles are engaged. You were sitting for three days; perhaps you felt a little muscle soreness. Because of this, in the complete kriyā of the Anuṣṭhāna Sādhanā, many people could not manage or get through. So I reduced it by sixty percent. If we were to add back that sixty percent, then you would truly feel, “Yes, that was a Sādhanā.” Walking through nature, in your garden or a park, is also part of that. Our ashram here is surrounded by beautiful hills and fields, and our area is completely free from all kinds of pesticides, which is why you will feel healthy. I suggest that all of you, every day, walk for at least five to ten minutes on our meadow without shoes and socks. You need not go far; you may walk on just fifty square metres. Touch the grass, touch the earth. This is very, very important. Some mention being checked for something. As many of us are from other countries, about thirty-five percent of the Czechs are here. Yes, there are many checks. Check them. Thank you. Our Gajanan is always alert to side effects, so there could be some ticks in the grass. Therefore, after Czech and Slovak, together help to control. Thank you. Extreme sādhanā is not advisable; there should be balance. Since we have lost our connection, our relationship with Mother Earth, we are facing more and more different diseases. In our Kriyānuṣṭhāna sādhanā, there is a practice called Udāsī Mauna. This Mauna has a very powerful, beneficial effect on all of us. It involves chintan—that is, thinking, contemplation. You withdraw inward and examine yourself: what kind of problem are you facing right now? What difficulties are you encountering? Some problems are personal, and some are impersonal. Both can be resolved. For this, we have two options: first, to understand that situation; second, to avoid it or find an alternative. For example, the world is now facing an economic crisis. The owner of a factory or company feels it deeply, but for the employee, it does not seem to matter at first; they still expect their salary at month’s end. Yet the company may not be able to bear such expenses. Reluctantly, they must reduce the workforce. Suppose you are the one who is let go. This is an impersonal problem. You should not succumb to sadness. Understand the position of the company owner, and realise that you cannot work there because they lack the funds to pay so many employees. Trust in God; we will find something. When you practise this Udāsī Mauna Sādhanā, you develop a healthy relationship with the problem, a positive understanding that prevents sadness. Of course, you lost the job, but the company lost even more. Now, a personal problem would be, for example, that you consume alcohol and cannot give it up. You face numerous health, family, social, and financial problems, yet you feel unable to stop. But nothing is impossible. If you truly wish it, you can do it. In the saṅkalpa of Udāsīnavā, all the consequences appear vividly: because of this alcohol, your family life is disturbed, your partner is unhappy, your children are disturbed and develop psychological issues, they struggle with their education, you lose friends, and people speak behind your back, “Oh, he is an alcoholic, a drinker.” This is a personal problem. Then you declare firmly to yourself: “Finished. All problems are solved.” These are examples of personal and impersonal problems, and we often find ourselves between them. This excellent technique, Udāsīnavā, involves withdrawing into yourself and searching out inner problems. But whether personal or impersonal, problems can be very dangerous. When you want to solve them, first gain clarity. Then try to approach the solution from the side; do not jump directly in. If there is a big fire, do not leap into the flames. Instead, fight the fire from the side, and you will be successful; otherwise, the fire will consume you too. Such are the techniques and theories for freeing ourselves from countless problems. At the same time, by touching Mother Earth and feeling nature, you are definitely helped. During Udāsī Mauna, you take your mālā and walk somewhere—through a forest, on a footpath, across a meadow, in nature. This brings immense energy, peace, and clarity. That is why it is called ekāntavās: go and reside for a while in a peaceful, lonely place. Or vihār, walk somewhere in nature, come to nature. Forget all the prapañca, all the worldly troubles. This morning’s technique brought you such ideas and feelings; I am sure you felt good. The majority felt good, and it circulated your energy, moved your muscles, and refreshed everything. That was the instruction for this morning. Next time, I think we will ask Parvatī to borrow a few cows for a month. We will get milk, and the cow will help us heal our various allergies. That would be very good. Two cows, perhaps? The cow would be very happy, thinking, “What karma have I landed in now?” There is a big waiting list for doing seva. Today, that is enough. All my dear ones, the evening webcast will be at eight o’clock, 8 p.m. Hari Om, Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavānam, Deveśvara Mahādeva, Dharma Sambhārakā Guru Svāmījī Mādhavānandajī Bhagavānam, Satya Sanātanam, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvarānandajī, Guru Dev.
