Life is not a destination

The soul's journey is inherently solitary, guided by destiny and the essence of all scripture.

The essence of all philosophy is condensed into key words. Giving happiness brings happiness; giving trouble brings trouble. Every being desires happiness alone. The Ātmā is non-dual and with all, while the individual soul is lonely and searching. One enters this world alone and departs alone. All relationships are temporary. Destiny arranges life from the soul's entry into the body until its departure. Do not blame others for life's experiences. The number of breaths is fixed. Practice prāṇāyāma and coordinate breath with the divine name; such a breath is not empty but a step toward realization. At departure, the soul realizes its journey and seeks shelter. Life is not a destination but a mysterious journey shaped by karma.

"The entire essence of the four Vedas and six Śāstras is this: if you give good things to others, you will be happy."

"You came alone, you will live alone, and you will go alone, and you will be alone."

Our humble salutations to our Ālagpurījī Siddha Pīṭha Paramparā. And our humble prayers to our Guru. All my dear ones, love from me and blessings to you from the Ārād Purījī Siddha Pīṭha Paramparā. This evening is a beautiful evening, and there is a very beautiful subject. This afternoon, Mahāprabhujī or Devapurījī gave me instructions. You may call it inspiration. We didn’t see each other the whole day, but I was on duty. Thanks to technology, I was in different parts of the world through this medium. I remember many times the satsaṅgs of our beloved holy Gurujī. Holy Gurujī used to give the essence of all philosophies and holy literatures. This is thousands of years old, centuries old. So everything in short form has the key words. When you get the key in your hands, you need not have anyone go inside and explain everything to you. So if we understand the key words, we get that key, then we open that horizon in front of us. Choose it, what you want. It’s endless. Then you will say, "Now what should I choose?" Our hunger is so great, and how to satisfy our hunger? Our thirst is very, very big, and how to quench our thirst? There’s a little story. In the desert, nothing is green. Even bushes are without leaves. So animals moving through the desert, they bite some piece of wood or this or that, something. And there was one donkey, also was going, eating fine, whatever it is the donkey was eating, and looking strong. But still there was not proper eating. Then rain comes, nicely rained. And on the third day, there was like a green carpet over the desert. In five days, the grass was a few centimeters high. In ten days, it was five or six centimeters, and the donkey begins to eat. While eating, the donkey sees green everywhere, green, green... green. The donkey gave up eating. Looking at so much green, I’m tired, I can’t eat. Looking is too much, I can’t eat. My joy is tired. So long as he’s standing and looking and getting thinner and thinner, starving. So when the things were there, she didn’t eat. So when we get the key of the knowledge, then we say, "What should I study now?" Vedas, Upaniṣads, philosophy, Purāṇas. Each Purāṇa is, like, thousands of pages. What should I begin first? How will I digest so much knowledge? So Gurudev said, "I give you the key, and then you can take as much as you like." So Gurujī used to say, "In four Vedas, six Śāstras, there are two things written: there is happiness, there is sorrow. There is sorrow, there is sorrow. Four Vedas, the four Vedas; six Śāstras, six philosophies—all essence of that." Only two words: If you give good things to others, you will be happy. If you make others happy, you will be happy. And if you give troubles, you will get troubles. So this is the essence of all the scriptures. Secondly, every creature. It doesn’t matter in which form, desires only one thing. Sukha kī prāpti, that I get happiness. To be happy, comfortable, without fear. Not only humans. Entire entity. All beings. Sabhī prāṇī sukha cāhatā hai. No one wants to have trouble. Nobody wants to have problems, neither humans nor other animals. So if you are searching for happiness, then first give others happiness. If you search troubles, then give others troubles. Therefore, vedavākyā, Vedavākyā means the words of the Vedas. Do not treat others as you would not like to be treated. Including the vegetation, these are the śāstras. Now, last week we had a little talk about this subject. We have two things. One is Ātmā. That is one only. That’s called one in all, all in one. Ātmā has no duality. Ātmā is with all. Then there’s a second one, also only one in itself, so there’s no duality, because that one is ever alone, so always lonely. But that one is traveling, searching for the origin. Ātmā doesn’t search the origin. The sky doesn’t search the sky. So ātmā is with all, but the soul is lonely. The soul is individual, alone. Here and there, when we think that I have someone with me, my one. It’s only imagination. It is with you, and it is not with you. And you did not come here to have someone, and you are not coming here to take someone with you. Even in the mother’s body, you were lonely, alone. Though they were twins, they were still lonely because they were two souls. So, she was telling her twin brother in her mother’s body, "You know, we will be born." And he said, "What is stupid? We will be born? I never heard this. From where do you think such things?" And she said, "You know, we will eat." "What is that? What will we eat? What are these stupid things?" And you know, "We will have different tastes." "Sister, I know you are bigger, older than me for some seconds." Then they were born. He said, "You were right." She said, "Don’t worry. Whole life, I will have right." He said, "That’s not right. Injustice." So this all around the astral world is traced by destiny. Like a boat is lying on the beach, and every wave of the ocean hits the boat. So the boat is between the beach and the waves. Similarly, these are waves of destiny through the astral world. You came alone, you will live alone, and you will go alone, and you will be alone. Though we will have very, very blessed parents, we will have loving brothers and sisters, we will have great friends. And we will have very good partners, we will have many good animals. But you never know when they will separate from you. Finally, they have to separate. They are only temporarily landed here. Morning, this bird will take off again. And when you are on this earth, you are in the case like a bird in the cage. So there’s a beautiful old song, "O bird of the cage, O bird in the cage, o vtáku v klietke." No one knows your pain. You are crying inside, and the song is very nice, beautiful. So we are the piṇḍereke pāṅsī, pāṅsī means the bird. In the case of this body, your inner pain, nobody knows. If it’s physical, we can give you an injection and a painkiller. But that which the jīva has, the jīvātmā, is searching for that eternal peace and light, which comes through our spiritual development. Your mother did not know. Your father did not know. Which second, which time, which hour did this soul enter the mother’s body? And even you don’t know what time from the astral world you were descending, or sent by destiny or God, into this mortal world. Our destiny prepares all arrangements for the whole life, from birth until death. From birth means the first time the soul, the light, entered the mother’s body, and death is when that time the soul will go out of the body. Between all this, in life, what we experience, good and bad, that is arranged by the destiny. Or by the Lord of Justice, Dharmarāja. So that destiny is called Śikṣāl, or our future. Therefore, from birth until death, don’t blame anyone. It is our destiny. Though the parents love us a lot, brothers and sisters love us a lot, our colleagues and our friends love us a lot. And they are sitting beside you, and you are preparing to die. They hold our hands. They massage our legs. They are standing beside you and asking, "What can we do?" But you have to depart alone. Among the thousands of birds sitting, one bird will fly up. We don’t know. Don’t think that we will be very old and then die. To earn something and collect something for your old age, it’s your imagination only. Before we came to this earth, its days were already fixed. And with the science of prāṇa written, that many breaths are given to you. When that many breaths you had, no more you had to die. So we don’t know. Therefore, the science of prāṇāyāma is developed, so that as much as you do the prāṇāyāmas and cleanse your lungs to increase your diaphragm’s capacity, you can have more oxygen and less breath. Bhastrika inhalation and exhalation quickly is not counted as a breath. So breath is life. Life is breath. Don’t lose your breath. Don’t let go of your breath empty. With each and every breath, the name of God. So this is Holy Gurujī’s mantra. O Mahāprabhujī, with my each inhalation and exhalation, with ascending and descending breath, I should have your name. Mantra of your name. So when the breath is coordinated with the mantra, that breath is not counted as empty breath. That will be counted as a real life of the humans to come to the self-realization or to the height. Breathing, and when you do jogging, running, marathon, Gurudev, Gurudev, and you are the winner, no? That is the secret for all our top champions. Rām Rām... So all are sitting beside us, and this Bhavra, we also call Bhavra. Bhavra means that bee, the honey bee. Bhavra uḍ gayā, that bee flew. Iskā bhavra calā gayā, this bhavra has gone. Or, haṃsa uḍ gayā, the swan has taken flight. Prāṇa chuṭ gayā, the prāṇa is left. Jīv calā gayā, the soul went away. The body is without any balance. Movements are either with closed eyes or wide open eyes. The mouth is open. Mayflies fly in and out, no problem. This body, that two body, five elements, is without any balance. These knots, this balance of the neck, and these strings of the neck, they are without any balance. The head is hanging already like that. And we are holding hands, looking. Nothing could help. That makes its journey again. The whole night, birds were on one beautiful tree. And in Brahmamuhūrta, at the dawn, they say goodbye to everybody, and they take their way, their path. They begin their journey. But still, our relatives, our friends don’t want to let us go away, but they accompany us till the graveyard. Maybe you are happy. All my relatives want to go with me in the grave. Forget it. Finally, they will say, "Now have a rest, so you don’t wake up, get up." So we put the earth on it, and who put the earth first? Your very dear one, they will do the first earth. Inside, the soul is disappointed. They throw earth on me. Now I have no relations. The essence is that the soul came alone, and destiny will take our life. So this life on this earth, we join a stream of a river. We join one river. A river has many curves. Water doesn’t have curves, but we have to go like the movement of the river. So we have to live according to our culture, traditions, rules, and regulations. It doesn’t matter how many curves there are. We have the relations, meaning to be together for a while, but still there is duality. You see only one water, but if you see, there are very fine, fine, millions of some small, small balls, crops. A beautiful river is flowing, and an island comes, like in Budapest. That island is called Market Island. So then you’re dividing. After a while, it comes together again. So sometimes your beloved one has some barriers there, as I read. And may it will come again, or before you come again, somebody will take a bucket full of water, and you are that one. Take it away. To feed your chickens, give them water to drink. And then they’d cut their neck, so life is mysterious. Life is a mystery, and this life is not a destination; it’s only a journey. So let’s sit in such a boat that we are all together. What goes with us, and what brought us here? Our karma, good or bad. When we give up this body, that time will overtake your destiny. If you will go happy, or you will experience immense troubles, torturing, and what not, no one can hear us. Therefore, spiritual knowledge, all divine preachings, without doubt, without conflict, without dualism: water is water, sun is sun. Even if you shout at the sun, the sun doesn’t listen, and it will not notice at all. So Gurudev accompanies us. What does it mean, he accompanies us? Please don’t expect that I will go with you. Don’t expect that I will say, "OK, are you home? Let’s go." Then what will all say? He left us alone. Not the body, that wisdom, that light. That accompanies us. But when the soul, a bhakta, goes out of the body, it has only one wish: that if you have a Gurudev or you have some holy one, you pray again. Please come quickly to me, or call me quickly to you. I know nothing is mine on this earth. No one is mine. Only you, oh my dear. That knowledge, what is a Guruvākya? It’s not a laḍḍu that you can have. These are words of wisdom, truth, light, God, spirituality. Instructions. Where we get this? Oh, my Lord, lead me, this jīvātmā, to that place. That lonely, lost bird, searching for shelter on the endless ocean, there is no shelter to sit, tired, exhausted. Then it sees some boat and, with great effort... Tired, he comes and sits on that boat to find shelter. Gurudev, śaraṇ tumārī, cintā merī mitā do. That word says, I have shelter here, please protect me and remove my worries. Come, my protector. Very good bhajan. Beautiful. Itnā to karnā gurujī, darśan jaldī denā. Time of the when the soul is departing. O Gurudev, do please, at least that much, come to me or give me your darśan. Otherwise, śānti śuk. For some seconds or minutes of happiness, you lose all your sense of being human. So, sing please. So, especially when the soul departs from this mortal world, then there are two thoughts. One is what we have missed. For what we came, and what we need. And where we are going now, Bhagavān Śaṅkarācārya said, "Who am I? From where did I come? From far, far, for what I came, and what I do, and where I will go." So what you have missed, then you will realize your mistakes: your positive thinking, negative thinking, your words, your actions. Don’t worry, it will come back, good or bad. So the second thought: if they are the real bhaktas and who are not. Who were the bhaktas, but somehow lost. They realize after the death, "What horrible things I did." So that’s all. He’s calling, "Guru Dev, give me again your darśana, quickly." It’s harsh, not darsh. It’s harsh, not darshan. Darshan means happiness. My ātmā is happy, so not hamārā ātmā, hamārā darśa, okay? All right, thank you. Good night. Wish you all the best. The next webcast is at 11 o’clock in the morning. Adios.
