The Awakening of Contentment: A Meditation on the Heart

The awakening of contentment arises from purifying the heart chakra through the union of resonance, light, and energy. These three principles constitute every phenomenon and bind body, mind, and consciousness. When the Anāhata Chakra becomes pure, it transforms into the Holy Heart, filled with unconditional compassion. The awakening process begins with supreme bliss in the root chakra, which then awakens resonance and inner light. This light is the wisdom that dispels ignorance. Contentment is the true wealth that renders all material riches insignificant. It is a state requiring nothing, born from self-trust and the absence of desire. This inner fulfillment naturally improves health, relationships, and consciousness, making one a giver of love. The practice involves specific meditation to purify the body and awaken this heart-centered awareness.

"Jabai Santosh Dhan: but when you attain the wealth of Santosha (contentment), Śabdhan Dhura Śaman: then all other wealth is like dust to you."

"OM SO HAM... 'I am that, that I am.' I am part of Brahman; I am the essence of the Supreme, the pure Ātmā."

Good evening to everyone. Good evening to all our international viewers, practitioners of yoga in daily life, and seekers of spirituality. First, I must apologize for being two hours late; this is the first time I have been so delayed. It was not intentional—I had another duty to attend. Thank you for your patience, and I am sorry. I am very happy to be here at this Yoga in Daily Life center in Prague. All the teachers are very successful and active, and more practitioners are joining, which is a good sign. It means people in Prague and the Czech Republic are becoming more health-conscious and aware of ecology. I hope this continues to grow. Yoga in Daily Life is doing miraculous work worldwide, much of it focused on protecting the environment, helping animals, and supporting poor people and children with medical aid—without any conditions. We keep all data confidential and never require anyone to change their religion, work for us, or promote our organization. We help without expectations, allowing people to be happy within their own beliefs and families. I thank you for your kind help for these children and welcome those willing to support this. Many around the world are waiting to learn about yoga. While many give theoretical lectures, few teach practical techniques. I am happy that our webcasts reach over 85 to 100 countries across every continent, showing that Yoga in Daily Life is a practical path. Yesterday, we spoke about the Anāhata Chakra and the three very important systems in our existence: sound (resonance), light, and energy. These three principles exist in every phenomenon, every individual—whether human, animal, or even water. Life today poses a question about water. I remember 15, 20, 30 years ago, we could drink from rivers, lakes, and mountain springs. Now, we question if that water is drinkable due to pollution. This pollution creates dangerous bacteria, harming all life—humans, creatures, vegetation—and remember, Mother Earth is a living planet. Countless lives exist on, within, and around this planet. In each phenomenon, as explained in the context of chakras and Kuṇḍalinī—the awakening of dormant powers—these three principles hold our body, existence, consciousness, emotion, mind, and intellect together. When your Anāhata Chakra becomes pure and you enter deep meditation, you discover these three channels: resonance, energy, and light (or consciousness). When they unite, you enter a state where the material world disappears. What we can touch now is only imagination; ultimately, only that consciousness, resonance, and energy remain. When the Anāhata Chakra is pure, it becomes the Holy Heart—where Divine Consciousness awakens. In the Holy Heart, there is only mercy, dayā, compassion, and love. These beautiful energies fill your being. Then, your consciousness shifts from the Anāhata to the Sahasrāra Chakra, meaning you cross the borders of your karma and destiny. Nothing can influence you anymore; you are free in the divine. When energy begins to rise from the Mūlādhāra Chakra, the first awakening is Ānanda, Param Ānanda—cosmic love without conditions or expectations, like our love for a pure, innocent baby, human or animal. This supreme bliss awakens in the Mūlādhāra, and you begin to feel a subtle joy in the body, a sign of new life. This love then awakens resonance, which carries feelings throughout the body and consciousness, unfolding the lotus petals of Mūlādhāra until the inner light appears. This is not physical light but the indescribable light of wisdom known to your inner self. For example, a combination lock has a number you do not know—that is ignorance, darkness. When someone tells you the number, you gain knowledge—that is the spiritual, divine light. Wisdom awakens, and everything becomes clear. This is Śāntoṣa (contentment) in your heart. There is a beautiful verse: Dhan means prosperity, wealth, richness, gold, or money. Gajita dhana: you may own thousands of elephants (though we can hardly manage one!). Bājadāna: you may have golden birds or a golden heart, Ratan Dhanakhan: you may possess diamonds. Jabai Santosh Dhan: but when you attain the wealth of Santosha (contentment), Śabdhan Dhura Śaman: then all other wealth is like dust to you. Contentment in the heart requires nothing. Who is happy? One without desires. Who is a beggar? The unhappy one who always wants more—more money, a house, a car, a girlfriend, a boyfriend. You are begging because you lack something; you do not trust yourself. Without self-trust, you cannot trust your partner, and that becomes a burden. When you are happy and relaxed, you need not search. There are many divine girls, but their problem is finding a nice boy who is relaxed and content. So, all boys, do not go longing elsewhere. Connect with yourself, relax, practice yoga, bathe three times daily, and purify your heart. Then the divine Lakṣmī will come to you. Females symbolize Lakṣmī—wealth and purity. They dislike dirt; they love purity in consciousness, love, words, and feelings. But girls should know boys are not beggars; they have a big ego. Boys have a divine heart, but they wonder if they can trust you. The problem between partners is missing trust, which stems from a lack of śāntoṣa. We long not for physical love—that is the last priority—but for someone with kind words, whom we can trust and who is there for us. This is hard to find. But when contentment appears in your heart, your partner will naturally share it, noticing how beautiful, relaxed, kind, and divine you have become—free from nervousness, aggression, drugs, and alcohol. Therefore, the first sign of awakening is not a physical sensation like tickling or spasms. When Kuṇḍalinī awakens, you feel almost nothing physically, but happiness appears. Your body becomes relaxed and comfortable. The light, wisdom, energy, and resonance result in immense Santosha—happiness and contentment in the heart. Nothing is lost or gained; everything is as it is. Then, that energy rises through Svādhiṣṭhāna and Maṇipūra to Anāhata. When this happens, your health improves, social relations become better, your psychic condition becomes perfect, and you realize what it means to be human. You become a giver—of love, blessings, and kind thoughts. All this is within you; you cannot buy happiness, love, or wisdom. This inner treasure makes you rich. Never think you are poor. God gave you two beautiful hands, legs, eyes, ears, a voice, and beauty. You have everything. Poverty is a mind of desire, lacking Santosha. Meditation Technique for the Heart Chakra Sit in meditation. First, perform Aśvinī Mudrā eleven times. Aśva means horse. When a horse passes dung, its anus contracts and relaxes, releasing tension through the spine and aiding digestion. Yogis imitated this exercise. Contract your anal muscles and relax, eleven times. While contracting and relaxing, you will feel a very pleasant, subtle resonance or vibration ascending toward the head and descending through the whole body. This involves ascending and descending energy, light, and resonance. Second, bring your awareness to the breath. Breath is a mighty, miraculous power. While inhaling, let the ascending vibration rise to the Ājñā Chakra. While exhaling, feel the descending breath consciousness. Do not expand the chest first; that is wrong breathing. Begin from the abdomen, then the chest. Exhale from the chest first, then the abdomen. This allows the diaphragm to expand fully, increasing lung capacity, consuming more oxygen, and promoting health. Correct breathing can release nervousness, anxiety, tension, and even cure diseases. Third, concentrate on the breath you are now practicing: inhalation from the abdomen to the Ājñā Chakra, exhalation descending—this is Ārapura or Śvāsa-Praśvāsa (different yoga texts use different terms). Fourth, feel as if you are breathing through the whole body. During inhalation, your entire body expands; during exhalation, it contracts. Fifth, during inhalation, imagine cosmic light—a milky, beautiful light—entering not only through the nostrils but through your entire body. Imagine your body as a transparent, round balloon with a light bulb inside, so light surrounds and fills it completely. During exhalation, imagine all toxins leaving the body. This is a beautiful Kriyā. Let me repeat: 1. Sit in meditation. Perform Aśvinī Mudrā eleven times, feeling the sensation move through the spine and whole body with each contraction and relaxation. 2. Focus on the ascending and descending breath from the abdomen. 3. Feel the body expanding and contracting. 4. Inhale light, exhale toxins. This purifies the body and can eliminate many diseases. Sixth, bring your awareness back to the Anāhata Chakra and notice the motionlessness of the body. Your body should be completely still, with only the respiratory system moving. Any movement, even a finger, disturbs the stillness like a stone thrown into a peaceful pond. Concentrating on this motionlessness awakens your astral consciousness. Then, guide your consciousness back to the breath, coordinating inhalation and exhalation with the Anāhata Chakra, with light flowing in and out, purifying it. Finally, use the mantra: OM SO HAM. OM is the cosmic resonance. SO means Brahman, the Supreme, the Highest. HAM means "I." "I am that, that I am." I am part of Brahman; I am the essence of the Supreme, the pure Ātmā—without karma, pain, relations, or troubles. Nothing can disturb me; I am the divine. What happens in your heart and how you will feel, I will explain next time. Today is enough, as you must go home, and I was two hours late. Once more, I am sorry. In the next session, I will continue with this Kriyā. Until then, practice what I have shared; this technique should take about 15 to 20 minutes. I wish you good night. God bless you. Those on the webcast who did not understand are welcome to send questions; I will answer them. With this, all the best. Om Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ Śāntiḥ... Śānti, śānti... Śānti, śānti... Śānti, śānti... Śānti, śānti... Śānti, śānti... Śānti, śānti... Śānti, śānti...
