Keep the light

The search is for the divine light within the holy places and service to the Master's path. The desert seat of Jadan holds immense energy and is becoming a great holy place through collective work. Every word of the Gurudeva comes true, as seen in the fulfillment of blessings and awards. The presence in the ashram is intense, offering a space for inner work within a different experience of time. Service is the sādhanā; working for the Gurudeva purifies and leads to subtle spiritual attainments. The Himalayan masters, like Alak Purījī, are indescribable and bestow blessings across ages, with their legacy flowing through rivers and disciples.

"Where there is light, it brings bright thoughts. Where there is darkness, negative thoughts come."

"Through that sādhanā, we come to the subtle body... Slowly, slowly, their physical body turns into a subtle body."

Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Chāyā Śrī Śrī Dev Purīśya Mahādeva Kī Chāyā Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān Kī Chāyā Satya Sanātana Kī Chāyā Dhaneśa Paripūrṇānandajī Kī Chāyā. Jai. Well, all dear ones, this evening is dedicated to the holy occasion of Christmas, and also to continuing our Siddha Pīṭha Paramparā, the Alakpurījī Siddha Pīṭha Paramparā. Merely to see the mountains is nothing; in those mountains, we are searching for something. And that is what we shall speak about. It is His blessing that from such high mountains, He chose His holy seat on a very flat desert place: Jadanāś. It holds immense energy, and I tell you, one day it will be a great holy place for all mankind. It is already listed in Indian tourism as a spot among holy places. Well, it is not I who did this; I am only a worker. But you all did it, so that is the pride of all of you. We took this into our hands, and we must work to complete it. You see, the Master very rarely writes about disciples. "Holy Gurujī, you remain peacefully. I will call you." He is Trikāl Darśī. Every word of the Gurudeva comes true. What Devpurījī said all came true. What Mahāprabhujī said all came true. And what Holī Gurūjī says all comes true. You know, a few months ago, on the 13th of June, someone mistakenly gave me a word—I do not know why—the British Parliament House gave me the Pride of India award. I was surprised, but it is not new, because Holī Gurujī had already given this to me. After becoming my Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar, Gurujī wrote a bhajan. In that bhajan, it is said: "Bharat’s Gaurav Gāthā is the glory of India." In that, I made another point of the light: Maheśvarānanda. I said, "Bhadgorā, Bhadgorā." So, on the 13th of June, I could see the fulfillment of Gurujī’s words. Also, on my birthday, Gurujī wrote a bhajan and gave it to his disciple to write his name. And Gurujī said: "Juka Juka Jīvo Maheśvarānanda." Do you know what it means? "The senses and sensories leave Maheśvarānanda." So, in the form of our Siddha Pīṭha, Om Āśram, Jadan, as long as the last stone will exist there, you and I, we will be alive. That is it. You have left there permanently the sign of your presence through your help—in whatever way, it does not matter. So, I am also working as you did. I have two hands; something comes here, I hold it, it goes there. But I get sore muscles, muscle cuts. So we are all one, and we will do it. "Juku juku jiyo, Maheśvarānanda." Many of you have been there; many have not. Now, for these 10, 12, 15 days, I will be in India, and I hope you will come. Then I will go a little farther overseas, but come there to work. Inner work and outer work—there is peace and bliss as a result of satsaṅga, our Gurudev said. So, come after some days; come back. Our Christmas time—go meditate. This is a beautiful pilgrim place, the holiest for us: Delhi, Jaipur, Kailāśa, Khaṭṭū, Nippal, Jardin. That is all for now. So, how is life in Jardin? Many of you know; many do not. So, our dear brother, Vasant. "Vasant." "Vant" means "wow." "Vá" means something like "wow" in English. And "sand" is a saint. "Krásné jaro." Jealousy grows. Greed develops, Vasant. So he was there helping, and he will tell about the life of Jadana. Sit. Hari Om. It is very unusual for me to be higher than Gurudev—just in physical form. I do not feel I am the right person to tell you something about Jadan, as I do not spend so much time there. This year I have been there for four months, but I will fulfill Swāmījī’s wish and tell you something about it. Jadan, as many of you have experienced, is a beautiful place. If Mahāprabhujī’s light is shining here in Střílky Ashram, then in Jadan Ashram his light is truly radiant. But on the other side, it is sometimes difficult to digest or to bear all this light, because it is not true that there is a shadow under the lamp—it is a Czech saying; I do not know if it exists in English. Life in Jadan is very simple, and I would say it is very basic compared to the life we live here in Europe in families. There are no disturbances from the outer world; for example, there is no television. So, as Swamījī said, it is very peaceful there. But if you are searching for some disturbances, you can find computers and the internet there. So it is possible to get disturbed if you want to. The point is that this outer peace does not mean we have inner peace automatically. There are no soap operas or long movies and series on TV there, but you can live a live soap opera in the interactions between bhaktas and people staying in the ashram. You can also see many imperfections in other people and within yourself. And now the question is, how will you handle these imperfections? Many people have lived here in the Střílky ashram and have an idea of what it is like to live in an ashram. But to live in Jadan ashram is truly more intense; it is difficult to describe. The presence of Gurudeva there is something immense. Also, when people look forward to his coming, there is a kind of radiance before his arrival that can fill one’s heart until it overflows. The Mahāsamādhi of our Gurudev is there as a kind of spiritual presence, and anyone who has a problem can go there and take comfort. It also takes years, for example. Suddenly, people who have been there for, say, 5 or 15 years—there is a click, and they are 10 years older. It is not possible to realize it. The notion of time passing: you stay there for 5 years or 15 years, and suddenly you realize you are 10 years older, yet nothing has really changed; time has not passed at the same speed as it does here. We have different orders, different jobs. But imagine you are in such a light-filled time and space vacuum, and you have the opportunity to take care of your personal inner work. In Jadan, you are in a different time and space environment, and you can truly sink deep into your spirituality. So, if you feel a little afraid to go there, if you feel some fear of going to the āśram because it might be too difficult or too wild for you, then do not be afraid, do not hesitate, and come. It is a different nature, a different environment, but there is the blessing of Gurudev and his presence, and it changes everything for the better, for good. I thank Guru Dev that I am able to go to Jadan Ashram and, with my weak powers, to help and be part of it. Hari Om. It was nice. Nice bhajans. We are happy to be here. This is the time of Christmas, so it is good to remember what we call "celebrate"—from the beginning of December till the end of January. We do not know exactly the date of birth. At that time, it was not that everyone must write a birth date. Many elderly people in Europe do not know when their birthday is; just to make the paper, they fill out a form. Modern people have a lot of time, so they do everything in writing. So it does not matter if we do not know the date of Jesus’s birth, but we adore. We can celebrate the whole year; nothing is wrong. So we remember the whole year, but it is a time to sit together and give away all negative qualities and give positive qualities. We always give good presents to offer our good feelings, this good ventilation of bliss. Thank you. And purify, throw away bad qualities. Where there is light, it brings bright thoughts. Where there is darkness, negative thoughts come. One searches somewhere else but will not find. You know the story of the elderly lady who lost a needle. She searched in front of her house for a few days, in the living room, outside the door. She could not find it. A neighbor came and asked, "Can I help you?" She said, "Yes, please. I am tired; I have been searching for three days." That man also began to search. After an hour, he said, "Grandmother, can you tell me where exactly you lost the needle?" She said, "Well, I lost the needle in my sleeping room." He said, "Why do you not search there? Because it is dark." So, grandmother, even if your sleeping room is dark, the needle you lost there you will not find in the garden. You can search everywhere, but you will not find it, because you know where the needle is, there is darkness. Because of the darkness of ignorance, we search in different parts outside. So when we put up lights, candles, or oil lamps—what we call a Christmas tree—this tradition we also have began from the time of God Rāma. This tree is designed at that time, mostly in South India. Rama came back from Sri Lanka, which is near South India. It is thousands of years, so light is used for holy things. This is our great blessing, that we can remember God. Well, some say Jesus is not a God; he is only the son of God. The peacock bird’s egg—you need not put color inside. The baby that comes out of the egg is colorful. So if he is the son of God, then he must be God Himself. We are all sons and daughters—we should not forget the daughters. So every creature is the light of God. When we remember or celebrate a spiritual day or Christmas, we should not make any differences. We should not make differences in religion, culture, or country. God is uniting in oneness. Last time I told you, first we should remember Mother Mary and His father Joseph. We always say that the credit goes to the parents—they gave birth to such a child. Or it is a shame to the parents that they gave birth to such a child. It is upon the parents to educate, to raise their children. But nowadays, before parents educate the children, the children educate them. The river is flowing in the opposite direction. So this Christmas time is for protection of the environment, protection of all life, and forgiveness. Give up ego and all of that. Develop good qualities to share with others. If you can share something with someone, that is a good quality. Do not share bad qualities. Do not talk badly about others. Do not blame others. Do not humiliate others. That is a reflection on ourselves. A wise one will not do that. A wise one has light, and light is always light. The foolish one is ignorance, and ignorance is darkness, always remaining in darkness. This is the divine message. Bless you all for Christmas. It does not matter with whom you will celebrate or where you will be. I wish you all the best. Everyone wishes for different things. In 1980, I was in Australia, and I asked them at Christmas time, "What do you Australians wish for at Christmas time?" The answer was: a very hot, sunny day so we can lie on the beach. And here, what do we wish? The children want to have snow. Even St. Martin is delayed; he still did not come to Martin. So when he is delayed, everything is delayed. So I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. We have met, Slovakia. Slovakia is spirit. Yes, very good. Velmi dobře. We are very near to Rajasthan, you know. Slovenský duch je velmi blízký rājasthānskému. The Czech is a little far. Would anyone like to sing a Christmas song? Like so, powerful. Okay, thank you very much. I wish you all the best. Happy Christmas. Well, you have heard and seen today a glimpse of the Himalayas. Himalaya is a holy mountain. All incarnations, and what we call the Swayamvus, are from the Himalayas. Himalaya is a holy mountain, though it is one of the youngest mountains in the world. And you know, in this modern time, the youngest children are growing taller. So the Himalayas have also grown high, and they are still growing. It has a very special point from the universe on this earth. They are very mysterious mountains, and all kinds of creatures are there, and many holy saints, monks, and yogīs. Where we are sitting now was once under glaciers. So we are also slowly, somehow, coming from that Himalayan side back. That is why our roots are there. In the Mahāśiv Purāṇa, there is also a story about Alak Purījī. "Alak" means indescribable. "Alak" means writing—not in English "luck," good luck and bad luck, but in Hindi and Sanskrit, "luck." So "luck" means to write something, but "alak" means indescribable. When it is only empty space, what name should I give? What should I write? So God is indescribable: Alak Niranjan. "Niranjan" is spotless. "Rañja" is a spot—a spot of sin, mistakes. "Spotless" means having no sin. The sky has no spots, so that is spotless: nirañjan, alakha nirañjan, and nitya—everlasting, akhaṇḍ—undestroyable, pūrṇa. That level of consciousness, when we follow the Master’s path—what does it mean to follow the Master’s path? In every aspect, serve the Master. That is our benefit; that is the sādhanā. Not just sitting and meditating; that will come after, when you are old and cannot move. Before that, work for Gurudev, like Holī Gurujī as an example. Till the last breath of Mahāprabhujī, Holi Guruji was repeating the name of Mahāprabhujī. Holī Gurujī was following every word of Mahāprabhujī. It is something. Through that sādhanā, we come to the subtle body, or the current śarīra, the current body. Then our physical body does not require any kind of nourishment except energy. It is above; no solid or liquid nourishment. Slowly, slowly, their physical body turns into a subtle body. They could go through rock, walk on water, or sit in the water and meditate. These are many siddhis. Siddhis come from that sādhanā. So Alak Purījī is getting the quality of Śiva. That is why Śiva. And Shiva is from there—this Nīlakaṇṭha Mahādeva, Nīlakaṇṭha temple, the mountain you saw. It is dedicated to Shiva, from when the ocean was churned and Shiva was there at that time when they brought the poison. If they threw this poison anywhere, the whole earth would be destroyed. So what to do? They went to Śivjī. Finally, Shiva is great; that is why he is Mahādev. No god has this name: only Mahādev. Devokādev Mahādev, the god of the goddess Mahādev. And he is known as Bholināth, a very gentle one, very kind, like an innocent, who gives anything. So Shiva said, "Okay, give me the poison." He drank it and digested it, kept it in his throat, became blue, and from that day one name of Śiva is called Nīlakaṇṭha, "blue throat." That gave the name of the mountain already: Nīlakaṇṭha Śiva. So, Alak Purījī is there, but it is not easy to get him close. He may walk through us. We are walking through the mountain, and he is coming in front of us and going through. How lucky we are. He will take all karmas away, so sometimes they can make their līlā. They can give darśan in different forms. And I am waiting for that. I am asking him. I am putting down some notes about my life, and a chapter on Ālak Purījī—I would like to give his image. But it is too high a mountain; I will take a helicopter and sit there for 10-20 days. Of course, the helicopter will send me back, and I will sit there like a little child: "I will not come home. You have to give me something. Give me my bike, give me my bike." Maybe Ālakpurījī will be pleased and will have mercy towards grandchildren. That whole place is known as Ālakapurī. Alka is Alkapurījī. That valley, the entire valley, is dedicated in his name. In the Pāṇḍavas’ story, the Pāṇḍavas were instructed to go to have darśan and blessing of Alakpurījī. Unfortunately, the four Pāṇḍavas and Draupadī could not survive the heavy glaciers and high altitude, but Yudhiṣṭhira survived. And I think definitely Yudhiṣṭhira had a blessing of Alakpurījī. Being such a great holy saint, a Śiva-svarūpa, like Śiva, the water melting from the glaciers of this Alakapurī thāl—at that time, many yugas before, they gave the name of the river Alaknanda. On the other side comes the Bhagīrathī. The disciple of Bhagavad Gītā, her name was Gaṅgā, so Bhagavad Gītā said, "This should be known as my disciple Gaṅgā." That Gaṅgā source comes from Pramloka. Therefore, the Gaṅgā and Alaknandā. And there is a beautiful river called the Mandākinī River. These three merge together; that becomes the complete Gaṅgā. And they meet at the new Priyagā. So these are the three meridians through the Himalayas: Gaṅgā, Yamunā, and Sarasvatī—these three mighty rivers. So, Alakpurījī—I do not know in which yuga he was, because Satya Yuga, Dvāpar Yuga, Kali Yuga, four yugas, then again begins Satya Yuga. So I cannot say in which yuga it was. But it was that time when the ocean was churned, so I am sure that Ālak Purījī had many, many disciples. We have no copyright to bring them here. If I go and ask, "You come with me, who are you?" So many are there somewhere. Many went away, incarnated again, and went away. So it is like Devapurījī traveled to the Himalayas, and in those glaciers, Devapurījī was an avadhūta. "Avadhūta" means one who does not care about anything. He stayed somewhere in the caves. And Alakpurījī was very pleased and gave blessings to Devapurījī. Then Devapurījī got all these divine siddhis, powers of Śiva. So Devapurījī left something for us here. I am trying to bring this message to all. And you got it, and you give it further. So our dharma, our sādhanā, is to work for Gurudeva and bring the message and teaching of the Gurudeva to others. Unless you do not understand, or you did not understand, you did not realize, then you are doing different things. So you are confused, and you are confusing others. People do not know what is truth now. So truth is the truth. So Alak Purīdhī Siddha Pīṭha Paramparā—we should serve that. That is our order: Siddhi Prāṇ Bhagavān Śrī Devī Svar Mahādeva Dharm Samrāṭ Satguru Svāmī Madhavānanjī Bhagavān Satya Sanātan. God bless you.
