Why harmony is lost?

A spiritual discourse on harmony, the soul's journey, and the divine mother principle.

May all be happy. May all creatures be happy. May God bless us with peace, harmony, and happiness. And I should also be happy. This is a mantra from the Vedas. Good evening, dear sisters and brothers. In English, we say, "dear brothers and sisters" first. Once, when I attended a program at the United Nations Headquarters in New York—it was a spiritual women's development event—they said, "Why not 'sisters and brothers' first?" So I learned. First, sisters and brothers. So please don't say that Swamiji is not speaking English properly. I know I don't speak proper English, but the first priority in our scriptures, in our dharma, is the Upaniṣad, which is the essence from the Vedas and a dialogue between the master and disciple. In this Upaniṣad, it is said: "Mātṛ Devo Bhava"—the first god is mother. "Pitṛ Devo Bhava"—then comes the father, and so on. There are five such beings mentioned in the Upaniṣad. We call it Mātṛ Śakti, the energy or power of the mother. "Mata Bhavati Nakumata" is also said in the literatures. A mother can never be a bad mother, except in some cases of mental illness. The mother principle—it doesn’t matter if it’s a human mother or other creatures. The one who did not have love and education in the lap of the mother and father will have problems their whole life. The real education for humans, to be human—human qualities, human feelings—is developed with the gentle touch of the mother’s hands to the child. At that time, compassion and love develop in the heart. When such care is from the mother and father, such a person will always be successful in life. The mother, who took care of the embryo, was feeding it with her own blood. Every miracle that the human body has is developed and given by the mother. Of course, we trust and we believe in God, but there must, there should be someone who takes care and develops it. Of course, the father is also very important, Mr. Naginwai. Don’t be sad. He’s thinking very deeply. So that harmony, balance, and something is given here, meditation. I would like to begin with a real fact: why we don’t have harmony. The soul, which is in the astral world, in astral form—we don’t know where the soul is living, how the soul looks. Even within us, we haven’t seen it. Happiness is within us, but we have not seen it. The mind is living within us, but we don’t know where it is living. All these qualities in different forms of the energies are dwelling in our phenomena, but we don’t know, we can’t touch, we can’t see, but we imagine, we feel it. The soul is fluttering on the waves of time in space, through light and darkness, experiencing good and bad. This life where we are is a very small time, a very limited time. And this time is given to us to realize who I am, why I am here, and what was the aim of my life given to me by what we call destiny, God, or parents. Blessed are they, those souls which enter into the human body. The soul is light, it is light, very fine light, and the same light is in every living being. It is living, life is life, and will never die. What dies? The body. But Vedānta says the body also doesn’t die because all elements merge to their origin. Water in water, fire in fire, air in air, space in space, earth in earth. So this is just a combination of five elements with that energy, which is provided to us through the Mother. When the soul is descending from the astral world through the subtle body, coming towards this earth—the earth, in astrology and astronomy, we do not count Earth as a planet. We do say living planet, blue planet, green planet, but that planet, according to astrology, Earth doesn’t come or count as a planet. This is the mortal world; exchange, coming and going, is developing here. So our first birthday, according to astrology, the first constellation is that from the birth astral world, directed this soul with resonance with the sound, is the guide towards the earth. Through it, it touches the aura of the earth and aura. Of the earth is here, water. Through this water, this prāṇa enters into the vegetations and different... and that is a long process, comes to the mother. So, the first birthday is when we were directed in the right direction. We lost the way, this and that, and then we see the signboard, Roymati, then we are sure. Now, this highway leads to Roymati, so we are relaxed. We will come, definitely. The second is when it comes to the father. Now, there is a big argument, a conflict, between male and female, and I will not touch this point. Even some say women have no soul. Why not? How can they live without a soul? So, I don’t want to go to this critical situation. This is some culture and some religion. So now it is already written who will be your father and who will be your mother. Blessed are they who have loving parents, spiritual parents, very nice parents. That is given by God, this soul, this light, in the hands of the mother. So this is the third birth constellation. All happens accordingly, exactly from that point. Now, we are not that kind of astrologer that we can trace out when she came from the astral world. But trikāl darśī, through the meditation, I’m talking about harmony and energy and balancing, okay? So don’t say Swamijī lost the subject. So it comes there, that is our real birthday, because we were descending towards the earth. That was the journey that began our journey. So life is a journey, not a destination. And this journey is the last milestone to enter, you may call, heaven. But heaven is too small. There’s a duality. But heaven, there’s a hill. So these two are divided, but in infinity there is no division, no duality. It’s only one. So from there we come to the mother. Every mother, even the animals, when the soul enters the body, they see, they feel light. But that light is not this kind of light; it’s physical light. That light is a light of love. And the most safe place for that soul is the mother, to develop that embryo. Now, this was the first harmonious journey. When we become developed as a human, we have only one milestone left to enter into the supreme, to God or whatever it is. If we miss it, how? By doing wrong things. First, we should give up negative thinking. Who are we to judge someone? Even you know that you see that someone has killed someone, but still, who are you to judge that? Mahatma Gandhi said, "We hate the sin, but not the sinner." Humans understand, humans have the knowledge, humans have the forgiveness and mercy. And that’s what in the Christian prayers and mantras they have also. "I pray for thy mercy, O Holy Mother Maria." It’s a beautiful mantra. When someone feels depressed, when someone feels lost on the path, or you have fear, I am 100% sure that this mantra will bring you again into that lap of that loving mother, which means all will become okay. A little child is crying, and then comes to the mother’s lap and is happy and relaxed. You will remember mantra, Nāginwai? Can you repeat? Which I told you now. When I speak, then you are in the divine world, no? No, no, no. I can see that when I’m talking, you are in divine consciousness. "I pray to thee. I pray for thy mercy, O Holy Mother Maria." Remember? So the journey begins. Either we go up or down, ascending or descending. Descending means the repetition in other lives again. Ascending means coming to the superconsciousness, higher consciousness, God consciousness. Universal consciousness, or whatever we call it, is our imagination. Maybe there is something different. Now it is given in the hands of the parents. Now I touch a point called dharma. Dharma means obligation. Dharma means responsibility. Dharma means duty. As soon as the mother comes to know that she is pregnant, and the father comes to know, now there is the real test of the father. Father should do all his best so that she will never have any trouble, suffering, or anything. These nine months are very important for the embryo. That mother has a very happy, very joyful, very relaxed, very clean, peaceful time. That reflects, and it feeds into the developing consciousness of the embryo, from unconscious, subconscious, conscious, and superconsciousness. It’s not easy that you are just a father, but now you’ve got a universal duty to welcome that divine soul. So that harmony between father and mother is a blessing for the child. That will always have balance, harmony, and beauty. There are many mothers sitting. You are all my mothers. Many mothers are sitting here. When they were pregnant, they were talking with the embryo, with the child, and happy, and preparing for the birth and this and that. Home. And the father is always at home, except going to work and coming back. The father never goes alone in that time to some beer restaurant and goes and drinks beer alone and leaves her alone there. No, come and be with her. So this is the first prime test of the father, that he takes care of his wife. That child will be successful, that will be a divine child, and that will solve the many problems of others. When the birth is given, then again it is the duty of the father that he does a lot of work which he should not do, also before not. That creates harmony. If the mother has stress after the birth, it also reflects on the subconscious of the child. A child needs a father and a mother, and after growing up, at least one parent should be with them. So, in modern times, the babysitters—you have a babysitter—is a wrong conception. It doesn’t matter how much that babysitter will love your child, but that cannot give the love of that mother or that father. Now, many children do not respect their parents because they did not get that kind of care, that kind of feeling from their parents. And the children learn the same thing for their future, for their generation, and for their children. Harmony, we have to maintain, and that is to give up negative thoughts. Today is 28 or 29? 29. So, 29 is nearly gone. 30th, 31st, and 1st of January, three days, make an experiment. I hope that you don’t have negative thoughts. But for three days, can you try to quit your negative thoughts? Whatever happened last in this year, forget it, forgive it, and don’t leave anything behind as negative thinking. We don’t know hour by hour. If I ask you, what did you eat for lunch on December 29, 2013? I’m not asking that much, but we know some events happen. Someone told us, someone shouted at us, someone was not nice to us, something was not nice. We are sensitive humans also. Forgive and pray to God. Whatever happened, whatever I did consciously or unconsciously, I pray for Thy mercy. I surrender to Thee. This, I am sure, parents, the mother can forgive. Father is sometimes angry, but mother will, mother helps. So, repeat for some days this mantra of Mother Mary. If you trust and believe, of course, that’s also, but it will delete, like in a computer, all data will be deleted, negative. And keep positive thoughts until the first of January. These three days, you will feel completely different. You will not be afraid. We have no fear, anxieties, or sorrows for the new year, to enter into the new year. Every day is New Year, every day is our birthday, but on the calendar we are changing dates because there is no time. Time is created by humans. We are beyond time and space, one without second. This is a process which is going on. But the humans were counting the movements of the stars, moon, sun, everything, and made the time. So, okay, we have nothing against time. We should respect it. In the Vedas, in the Śāstras it is said, if you waste time, it is a sin. "Śamaikā apmāna nahīṁ karnā chāhiye, śamaikā apmāna hī pāpa hai." This is in Hindi language, so do not neglect the time. Neglecting the time is a sin, and this is given: every second is counted from our life. What is gone is gone; what remains, and how long it is, we don’t know. Therefore, we should be aware of the present situation. If we create negative thoughts, then in psychology they say negative thoughts mean you are poisoning your consciousness. In yoga, they say you are darkening your consciousness. Positive thoughts mean you are purifying your thoughts and body. And in yoga, we say you are getting enlightenment in your consciousness. So ask yourself, while becoming angry, what will I gain? If I forgive and have no negative thoughts, and I help, what will I get? So this will help us very much. So harmony and balance begin from the beginning of our life. But we are very busy. We forget sometimes. It’s not easy to be positive. These three days will be hard, a hard time. The Naginwai is driving his car, and somebody is driving quickly on the left side and right side and wants to overtake, and suddenly goes quickly on the wrong side and overtakes. Naginwai is a very positive person, but he will say, "Ah, crazy man." These are three days he has lost. But we will say, suddenly we are saying, "Ah, God, what is he doing?" He’s also negative. After two or three kilometers, police stopped that car, and police stopped that car only for ten seconds. Again, he went quickly. You were also quickly a little bit. Police stopped you; you were fifteen kilometers over the limit, so he said. But that other one was more, he said, "Yes, sir, but I had to excuse that person or leave because, behind in his car, his wife was sitting and just close to giving birth to her child, and he won’t reach the hospital." Then he said, "Oh yes, sorry, sorry. So without knowing, if we judge someone wrong, it is a sin." We don’t know, therefore it is better not to judge. Forgive it, and maybe that he or she was in a hurry for some certain reason. So every step of life we experience something. The negative thoughts, anger, hate, jealousy, conflict, revenge, ego, and greed. These are the thorny bushes, stony bushes, path, and this is a prison for humans. Love, happiness, forgiveness, understanding, positivity, and kindness are the comfortable highway for the human. For this, we analyze our everyday evening before going to bed: find out what you have done positive today, what you have done negative today. How many times were you angry, and how many times were you happy? How many times were you offended? And these little, little things. We will know our account in the evening, and then we pray to God and go to sleep. Morning, when we get up, last time I told here that we should have first thought, "I am human. I am human." Now, if we do something wrong and we are aware that we are human, you ask yourself, and yourself will say, "My dear, you are human, you can’t do this." What makes me human? The human qualities. And how to open or awake those qualities, that which keeps me all the time alert, is our practice. And practice means everyday life. We have yoga in daily life, okay, but yoga in daily life is not only physical exercises. We live our day very consciously, with love. All the people of the village will say, "Oh, how kind this person is." And at the end, it will be counted, good or bad, at the end of our life. In satsaṅg, one cannot sleep. You are very tired today. So after that, then comes the meditation. If we master these things, or we follow these things, or we do practice every day—our being positive, our being good, simply be good—then meditation will be good. Now, meditation is that we sit and collect our experiences, our thoughts, and consciously, very consciously, we send our blessing. Everyone has blessings to give to the world, to the trees, to the animals, to humans, to everything. Blessings for the river, for the pond, for the ocean. Let our blessing mean our love. Love is a blessing. Let it go, this energy from you. You will feel purified, you will feel relaxed, you will feel united, and you will feel balanced in this world. Finally, after thy will will be seen, O Lord. It will be like that, as it should be, God. I did my best. Maybe I was thinking it’s the best, but Lord, your will is different. Forgive me. With this, that you all have that energy, balanced happiness and joy, we will do now a little meditation. First, we make a 10-minute interval to get fresh air, and then we will have meditation. Thank you.
