Effects of Practising Mantra

The power of mantra and the value of human life are profound. Chanting mantra resonates within, transforming the body into a temple and leading toward enlightenment through disciplined practice. This sound is the form of Brahman. Constant repetition wears away negativity, just as a footpath wears away grass. The human body is an invaluable gift, not to be bought or sold. This value necessitates compassion and mercy for all creation, understanding the life in all beings. Sanskrit is a divine language, and the eternal roots of spirituality are one, beyond man-made religious divisions. Mantra purifies negative energies. True spirituality arises from a heart filled with compassion and discernment.

"Constantly and with discipline, if we chant our mantras, when we sing our mantras, no doubt, it will lead us to enlightenment."

"In the heart should be love and mercy for all kinds of creation."

Om. With closed eyes and folded hands near the chest, after chanting this mantra five times, you will feel that you are sitting in your inner temple. Our body becomes a temple, and you hear the resonance of the mantra within. Experience this, and chant for a long time. You can chant loudly, but for a long duration—not a marathon. The resonance of the Om is Nādharūpa Parabrahma: to know the form or the nature of Brahman, only the sound resonates. "Eko'haṁ bahusyāmi": thoughts are like a resonance. "I am one and will multiply myself." Therefore, this nāda, this chanting, resonates in our body, in our thoughts, and in our consciousness. When we put on a light, the darkness is gone. If the light is off, darkness is there. Constantly and with discipline, if we chant our mantras, when we sing our mantras, no doubt, it will lead us to enlightenment. It is not so easy. Do not think that you will change this weekend and become enlightened. But definitely, you will get more development and upgrading in your spirituality. However, if you forget and do not do it, then you are back where you were. Holi Gurujī said one poem. When you repeat the mantra "Rām, Rām," it will destroy all sin, remove all sin. Likewise, when you walk through a park and you always walk on the same place, it becomes a footpath. The grass does not grow there because we are always walking on the same spot. And elsewhere, the grass is growing. Similarly, when we repeat our mantras constantly, or even inconsistently, that sin, the problems, the troubles will be removed. Practice has to be done. Nothing is given to us gratis. God gave us something gratis, and that is the human body. It is unbelievable. Indescribable. Very valuable. We cannot imagine the value of this human body. This does not mean that other animals have no value. It does not mean that we can kill and eat them. That is the ignorance of humans. Especially, humans have more compassion in their heart, mercy towards all creatures. That is called a holy heart. In that heart where there is no mercy towards the plants, herbal plants, fruit trees, big trees, birds, animals, fish, and even the corals—they have a life. When you go in the ocean snorkeling and you see the corals, do not jump on them. Do not step on them. You kill them. They break. So, life—and only humans can understand that. If animals go and walk there, an elephant will go and walk on them, they will break, but the elephant does not know. But the elephant is very clever. It does not go where the corals are too near. And when the elephant goes in the water and begins to swim, you cannot imagine the joy of the elephant, such a heavy body, maybe nearly a thousand kilos, suddenly levitating in the water. That is the biggest siddhi, as if I am quantumizing what happened to me and moving freely. So that is the upliftment. That is the water element with the air element. It lets us float. So, in the heart should be love and mercy for all kinds of creation. That is Ātmā Anubhūti. That is Ātmā Cintan. Who am I? What should I do? And what should I not do? So when you kill some animal, at that time you feel the pain. Not others. You feel it. And when you do not feel it, definitely God feels. There is one story from the Rāmāyaṇa, the Vālmīki Rāmāyaṇa, which is written in pure Sanskrit. Sanskrit. It is not easy to read for all. The Sanskrit language is a very beautiful, very divine language. The philosophy is great, but the modern brain has no capacity or ability to learn Sanskrit. They cannot. If they learn, it will take a long time. But when you speak Sanskrit, you read Sanskrit, you think in Sanskrit, you sing in Sanskrit, you dream in Sanskrit—can you imagine? Your brain is full of devī śakti. That is Sanskrit. Sanskrit is not a man-made language. And the Vedas are not man-made, and Sanātana Dharma is not man-made. This is eternal. So, the value of human life—you cannot buy it, you cannot buy this body. The doctor says, "Your body is completely finished, and you have a lot of money." Say, "Doctor, can I buy one body?" It is not a dress. You cannot buy it, nor can you give your body to someone. You cannot borrow your body. Yes, we are now doing some organ transplants. But still, we cannot completely. They did it. In many cases, in old age, people did it. What you call cloning, I think the first cloning was with Gaṇeśa. In the opening story, also with the king Dakṣa—Dakṣa was the father of Satī, of Śiva. Also, it is called Sañjīvanī Vidyā, to awaken the dead one into life. There was a king called Sāgara, and he had many, many sons. I do not know how many thousands. I think he was only producing children, like bees, a queen... and the story is very long. The sons of King Sāgara attacked Bhagavān Kapila Muni because King Sāgara was performing a great yajña. They let one beautiful horse free. No one should catch that horse. No one should keep that horse. Let him be free. On the day the yajña finished, they should go and catch this horse. So they could not find it. And they saw a horse in the āśrama of Kapila Muni. So they went there, and they wanted to have the horse back. Kapila Muni did not invite the horse there. Kapila Muni did not tie him there. A free-will horse was grazing in the garden. But the hundreds of sons of King Sāgara said, "You stole our horse." And Kapila Muni was only sitting in meditation, so they were throwing stones, and he was hurt, and blood was flowing. Kapila Muni opened his eyes, his third eye, and all were burned into ashes. All thousands of the sons... it was nicely, the heels of the ass... then the king came, and he asked for forgiveness and prayed, "Please give life to my sons." Now, can you imagine what was completely burned into ashes? So Kapila Muni blessed, and all came out of the ashes. All of them were awakened. That is called Sañjīvanī Vidyā. There is one story about Devpurījī. He had many animals with him, and there was one hen, a cock, and it was always making noise. Devpurījī was sitting with a few people near his dhūnī, the fire burning. And that cock was making noise. So Devpurījī said, "Come here." It came. So Devpurījī held it and took a saw, lifted the fire up, put the cock down, and put all the fire on it. People were frightened, and they thought, "Oh, Devpurījī is not vegetarian." But he was sitting and talking. After two or three hours, people said, "Swāmījī, we are going now." "No problem. Okay, hurry home." And they were standing up, and Devpurījī said to that slupice, "Okay, come out." And it came out, and it just dusted its wings and walked away. So Devpurījī said, "Do not disturb satsaṅg." And he said, "That is a divine līlā." We will never understand. You will never understand the līlā of the great saints or God, your Gurudeva. So, what is cloning? It is just nothing in front of Kapila Muni. And you know, Kapila Muni is our Āśram Akhāṛā’s God. And Kapila Muni’s nephew is Dattātreya. And the mother of Dattātreya is the sister of Kapila Muni. And his sister manifested Brahmā, Viṣṇu and Śiva, all three in one, as her children. So these were in Satya Yuga. In some Yugas, it was like that. So from where does this spirituality come? From where does the name of God come? From where come all worship and mantras? Now we make a difference: my religion, their religion, and this religion. All religions are the branches; the roots are that Sanātana. How far is the back of the past of your particular religion? So someone came between and created the duality. So it has always been, and it is also there. On the day when all humans will understand, they will set practice according to how they are doing. But that Almighty God is only one. There will be peace, love, harmony, everything. So sound, resonance, and mantra. Mantra has immense power, immense. Mantra has immense power, and it purifies all the negative energies. Therefore, as a human, one should always be in touch with compassion, dayā, and that dayā is in the heart. And then viveka—after intellect, the viveka is in the heart. Viveka, and be in touch with viveka. That one is close to becoming a saint, and there are no doubts. So value human life. Be thankful to God that we were born as humans. And this will not be given again and again. In His kingdom, there is no compromising, no bargaining. And no excusing. All bargaining, excusing—this is now in this world. The time has come for us all to join together to convert the Kali Yuga into the Satya Yuga. And we can do it. The time has come. So, become vegetarian. First step: dayā, love. Love, love, and rest tomorrow. Ātmā dhyāna, ātma anubhūti, ātma cintan—"I am the Ātmā, I am the Ātmā." But if you say, "I am Ātmā, I am Ātmā, I am not doing anything, I am Ātmā," that is also not good. Go to someone and say, "I am Ātmā." Say yes. They shall call an ambulance or a psychiatrist. So, "I am Ātmā" is not to tell others, but to tell to thyself. "Ahaṁ Brahmāsmi." "I am Ātmā"—that you say to thyself. That is it. Okay, so I wish you all the best. And tomorrow again at 10:30, the webcast is coming. And I wish you a very nice, good evening. Dīpa Nayana Bhagavān kī jaya, kī jaya...
