Om Vishwa Guru Deep Hindu Mandir in Czech Republic

The essence of spiritual steadfastness is inner development, not titles or travel. Self-confidence is foundational; without it, motivation fails and the future dims. The science of yoga, given by Śiva, leads to higher consciousness. A realized sādhu, like a deep ocean or the sun, provides light while remaining steadfast. Spiritual titles exist for practical duties, like spreading teachings or gathering support, but the core is inner achievement. True mastery is measured by devotion and unity with the Guru's grace, not by intellect or organization. A master's quality is non-dual love for all disciples. External forms like ashrams are supports, but the seed is inner bhakti. Protect the dharma, yet do not cling to dress or form. The pure heart, filled with devotion, naturally overflows.

"Water should stay in one place if it is very deep, like an ocean."

"When in your heart that devotion, Guru Bhakti, is complete, it is pūrṇa. Then that Guru Kṛpā is raining, showering on us."

We spoke yesterday and this morning about meditation and inner management, where we need self-confidence. When self-confidence is lost, then everything is lost. Disappointment appears, motivation disappears, the ego attacks, and laziness holds our throat—it kills our future visions. The science of yoga was given by Bhagavān Sadā Śiva. The author of yoga is Śiva. The author of mantra, yantra, tantra, yoga, and prāṇāyāma—all this science which leads humans toward a higher level of consciousness—was given by Śiva. Vedomiu to bolo nam dane Śivom. All spiritual literature speaks of that Śiva, of his presence in each and every atom, within everyone. Śiva, when he manifested himself, Svayambhu appeared in meditation. When He manifested Himself in the meditation position, Premanānjī gave you some gleams of the Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara. Of course, what He saw, He told. It is said in one poem: Water should flow. If water remains in one place, it becomes stagnant. And a sādhu should move. If you stay in one place, you may receive a lot of critique, negative critique. So someone came to Mahāprabhujī and said, "Mahāprabhujī, you are staying all the time in Kathu." He stayed in Kathu, in Balaguda, and Harsol. These were three places. "Why didn’t Mahāprabhujī go to Bangalore, Mumbai, Ahmedabad, etc.? Water should move; a sādhu should move also." Mahāprabhujī said, "Yes, what you say is good, but you don’t know. Water should stay in one place if it is very deep, like an ocean. Can you imagine if the ocean would move through the whole world? All would be under water, so it is better that the ocean has its beach limitation. And a sādhu is good in one place if he is spiritually developed. When the sun rises, light goes everywhere, but the sun doesn’t move; it is the earth that is moving. Similarly, a sādhu should not travel too much; he should stay in one place. And that I did not learn; I will also learn to live in one place." So, becoming a Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara does not mean you are traveling. Our Premanānjī told this, and that’s why I’m telling you. But why do Mahāmaṇḍaleśvaras travel? There is one main reason. The first is to bring the teaching of Sanātana Dharma. But as Premānājī said, every Kumbh Melā, a Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara needs a lot of support of the Lakṣmī. Traveling bhaktas give donations so that the Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara can build the bhandārās and camps, etc. A Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara does not mean you go house to house, because the Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara is one who should remain and take care of that group. Before, at the time of Śaṅkarācārya, there were only four Śaṅkarācāryas. It is nowhere written that a Śaṅkarācārya should not travel over the sea. That was written after the time of the Mughals and British. Many things were turned upside down. If this were true, then Śaṅkarācārya would not have given the title called Sāgara. There are ten different titles or duties. Girī—they should preach in the mountains only and look after all the tribes. Now, no Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara who is a Giri goes to the tribes. What can you get from them? Some berries, a basket of fruit. So they travel everywhere. There is a title of Purī; they should remain in the cities, going everywhere. Similarly, there is one called Sāgar. They should travel through the oceans, to the islands, etc. And someone is called only the Arṇya, the one in the forest. Bhartī traveled around the whole territory of India. At that time, India extended to what we call the Turkish border. Iran, Iraq, Afghanistan, Pakistan—all were territory of India. Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan—that was all the territory of India. Until Indonesia, all this Thailand, Bangkok, all. Thailand was the kingdom of God Rāma. So the sannyāsīs, the sādhus, can go anywhere. But you must note that you have to travel, you have to get achievement, then you travel. So, inner spiritual achievement—when that is achieved, then that nirmala jala, meaning very pure water. Mahāprabhujī said in his beautiful bhajan, in the teaching of Mahāprabhujī’s bhajan, Holī Gurujī said in his last lecture pravacana in Jadān. He was sitting in Bhakti Sāgar in that big grass hut or hall. When you see a video of Gurujī, you will see this. He said, "All these bhajans that you hear from Mahāprabhujī, this is Vedavākya, the words of the Vedas." And when he remembered Mahāprabhujī in that video, you will see he got tears. In the last 20 years, 25 years—from 1963-65, whenever Mahāprabhujī or Gurujī remembered Mahāprabhujī—he had tears. It’s like when a pot is full of water, and if you move it a little, it drops, flows over. So when in your heart that devotion, Guru Bhakti, is complete, it is pūrṇa. Then that Guru Kṛpā is raining, showering on us. So when you listen to Mahāprabhujī’s, Holy Gurujī’s video, you see this sometimes. So Mahāprabhujī, in his Padvinī bhajana—a beautiful bhajana you all know, but I’m reminding you only on the right subject—says that at that time, when the realization is, then you get the quality called guru: to remove the darkness of ignorance and realize the light of wisdom, the truth. When you become a sādhu or mahāmaṇḍaleśvara, then, like your child who is 12, 13, 14 years old—whatever the parents say is wrong. And the children think, "I will change the whole world. I will become quickly young, strong, to look like a man, complete." You know, they begin to shave everything, so quickly the hair grows. But after sixty, seventy years, you don’t love this hair. You are in renunciation, so you have to develop that it’s not what you have studied. Not intellectual knowledge, but ātmā knowledge. And that is when a master chooses the successor. It is not intellectual knowledge, not a quality of organizing this or that, but if he or she is complete, become one with the Gurudevs. You know, when the nine months are over, then the mother gives birth. Similarly, when that disciple in the womb of the master is completed, then he gives birth. So bhakti, that knowledge which you cannot learn in school, college, university, etc.—that is how it is. Who can take care of this? I have big problems. There is Stefan, he is sitting here. He tells me, "Why do you love Premanant?" And Premanant said, "Why the Franz Josef?" So, as many disciples, that much difference. You have ten children; some are brilliant, but some are not. So one who is clever and rich tells the parents, "Send the other children away." The mother or father cannot do this. So this is a quality of the master: no duality towards others. And there is a problem to have a jealous brother to brother, sister to sister, disciple to disciple. So the master will know who will take care of my children. That’s it. So every one of us has to realize. When someone says to me, "Guru," or asks me, "Are you a guru?" I feel unpleasant inside. Because all the time, I was feeling as a disciple. And now I hear someone say, "You are guru." So lifelong I will be only a disciple. Gurudev is sitting here, and you should also do the same thing: that you are not a yoga teacher. The yoga teacher is Gurudev. We are the lucky ones, fortunate ones. That Gurudev has blessed us and gave us this knowledge, that we can teach someone something, good things. So the duty of the Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara is to develop and give the blessings. Making many ashrams, in my opinion, is not good. Especially now, I have done only one ashram. Otherwise, Kailash Ashram is not, I have not established it. It’s Devpurījī’s ashram. Katu Ashram is Mahāprabhujī’s ashram; I did not start it. Nippal Ashram is Mahāprabhujī; Gurujī started it, not me. Bola Gurdwara is Mahāprabhujī’s, started, not me. Jaipur Holī Gurujī started, not me. I only help by the help of all of you, because I know that you are coming often to India, and we need some kind of comfort or facilities, so I try to make some rooms and this and that. Otherwise, till today, the ashrams would not have survived there. People would have taken it away. So, through your help, we did that. In the future, bhaktas of Gurudev will have a little comfort. And Jadan—well, ideas are mine. Maybe it was not good, but it’s all of you who are doing it, and that will remain for ages to represent the teaching of our Gurudeva, Saddha Sanatana Dharma. If this will be completed and will be run like that, how I imagine, I will think that I succeed a little bit to be a disciple of my Gurudeva. That he will accept me. So titles have no meaning on the spiritual level. Bhagavān Rām, he was not called Dr. Rām or Professor Rām, or Kṛṣṇa as a Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara. Kṛṣṇa only, Kṛṣṇa. How little name, Kṛṣṇa only. Rām. Jesus—was he Principal Jesus, Dr. Jesus? So, it doesn’t matter how big is a fruit, but the seed is the reality. And that seed is called bīja mantra. That’s called sabīja samādhi. So that inner development, all of it, leads to bhakti. Our duty is to support Gurudeva, what Gurudeva gave us as blessing, to support those who dedicated their life to Gurudev, as swāmīs, sannyāsīs, Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar, man, śrīmanth. In our akhāṛā, even a Mahāmaṇḍaleśvar will call other sannyāsīs, if they don’t know the name, they will call Guru Bhai. Means, oh my Guru brother, yes. After Śaṅkarācārya’s time, many things were difficult to master and carry on. So they decided to develop the saṅskāras. Akhaḍās at that time were actually a place for bodybuilding. Akhaḍās were places for what we call bodybuilding, wrestling, boxing, running, and playing. Many, many things. So this sport is from ages and ages. So if you say yoga is not a sport, then it’s not true. Yes, sport is born out of yoga. Yoga is not a religion. But all religions are born out of yoga. It is a branch of that yoga. It is like branches of that yoga. So the akhāḍā, the second akhāḍā, were like a community. So there was a protection for the territory and for dharma. In Akhara they had many elephants, hundreds of horses, camels, and weapons to fight against Adharma. So, Akhada was like a government, and kings had to follow the Akhadas. And that was like battalions in the military. And they were protected, and they were protecting all kingdoms and peace in the whole territories. So, where it was needed, they were there. They were taught in Akhāḍās: Don’t worry about your dress. Dress or shoes or anything, or food, for the sake of dharma. Even if you have no dress, you run naked, it doesn’t matter. For the dharma, so that was called a Nāga Jamāt. Jamaat means battalions. How many thousands of soldiers do you have? They had different camps, and they were very respected. So, therefore, they had ceremonies, what we call rehearsal: that you have to run, you have to go without a dress, don’t care about cold, hot, rain, hunger, thirst. Save the life, humans or animals, doesn’t matter, and have a fire for your protection. In the night, against the animals where the fire is burning, no leopard, no tigers, no bears, no foxes, no wolves, no snakes can come near the fire. Mosquitoes, bugs—so that was called the dhuni. So these people were respected very much. They were worshipped because they were the protectors. And so now, once in some years, this Naga Jamāt—meaning these sādhus who go without dress, we call them Nāgās—they are rehearsing and going to the Gaṅgā, have a bath, and come back. When they are going, neither their Ācārya nor Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara can cross between them. Acharya is the head of the Akhāḍā, and Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara is who should take care of all these Nāgās and organize for them. So power have these nāgas. And so now people say, "Oh, look, they are uneducated people still. Uncivilized." I say, don’t worry, very soon we will develop in Europe. So they said, "No, we have developed," officially written, FKK. That is the Nāgā Bābā. In our Nāgā Jamā’at, still the females are respected, not to go as it is. But Europe said, "Emancipation, no duality, male or female, equality, please." So this has a long history. So, the Mahāmaṇḍaleśvara is for the protection and supporting of the Kaḍā, keeping the name of Sanātana Dharma, and on this, you should not care or worry even about your dress. But now we are more than Mahāmaṇḍaleśvaras, so it goes. So, when my Mahāmaṇḍaleśvaras will come so far, then I will stay in one place, loving my disciples equally. But they have to have an ashram: have a Zagreb ashram, Jaipur ashram for Gyaneshwarji. Jasraj is still thinking. I told him: Nipal Ashram, Kathu Ashram, Kailash Ashram, or Delhi Ashram. Or Balaguda. What I have belongs to you. But he still... I told him, and then he was sad. Like when you tell your child, "Go and work," then she thinks, "My parents don’t want me at home." So, all ashram belongs to everyone; all are at home. Can you imagine when we all sit together, how joyful it is? You can imagine. We are so happy. All are guru brothers and sisters, but they all have their duty. Someone is in Koper. The other is in Prague. Others are in Maribor. Yeah, so everyone, some are in Linz, some are in Salzburg, so they are stationed there and they are doing good work. From time to time we meet, so it’s not easy. We used to say here in Europe, don’t celebrate the day too early. Wait till sunset. So many came, and many disappeared. When one enters into the intellect only, then their heart will dry. It is not overfilled, but even the drop, no one drop is there. Then it’s called buddhi briṣṭ ho jātī hai—the intellect is polluted. So, Mahāprabhujī said in that bhajan—because you all are thinking Swāmījī always forgets to tell something, and then he is swimming somewhere in another direction—so I will come to that bhajan. Jagame Mari Hari Guru Rakhi Laaj, Do Bhati Jagame Mari Samrat Rakhi Laaj. Param Guru Swamiji Maro Janam Sudaryo. Oh, my divine master, Param Guru Swamiji—param supreme, the highest, param naiṣṭhik. Gurujī, my Gurudev. You have made my life successful today. Param Guru Swamijī, my boat was sinking in the ocean. But you brought it up, and let’s cross that ocean. But you brought it to the surface and allowed it to float in the sky. Nirmala Jalane Jī Bhavan Chandan, Śrī Nirmala Jalane Jī Bhavan Chandan, Śrī Hare Hare Bhavan Jīvan. Gurudev, his eyes are so pure. Even you can realize in the eyes of the animals what is in the animal’s mind. We can see in the eye what a person is thinking. So nirmal means pure, without impurity. Nen means the eyes. The Bhavan Chandan is the name of the quality of sandalwood which has one of the best smells, fragrances, and that is the body of the Gurudeva—only wisdom, only light. And that’s why it is said, if you enter in someone’s house, your feet are touching that ground, they feel the divine purities. And that’s why even where you step your feet, Gurudev, the dust also becomes holy in order to let the cross of the ocean for all. To help the creatures swim through or cross the ocean, he brought a very big boat of the satsaṅg. Who will listen? The satsaṅg. Even a dog is there, a cat is there, will benefit. I have one disciple in Perth, and when I talk with Skype with them, they have a cat called Mira, and she jumped on the keyboard and looked at me, or on the other computer she is playing. When they make prayer, she comes and sits near the prayer, every day, morning prayer and evening prayer. So, satsaṅg, laya jaya param guru swāmījī, maro jīvan sodaryo aaj. Nirmala vākā nayan hai jī, bhāvanā chandana sārī. Param Guru Swāmījī, mero janam sodayo āja. Copyright © OSHO International Foundation
