Christmas satsang for Europe time zone from Jaipur Ashram

The message of Christmas is the universal light of truth and love.

Every holy incarnation brings a great message for humanity. Birth and incarnation are similar, but incarnations descend by divine will. Jesus clarified he was a son and messenger of God, not God incarnate. His message of truth, love, and forgiveness aligns with the Vedas and all true teachings. Truth is one; God is one. Great lights descend in different times and cultures to illuminate the same reality. Jesus's life was difficult, testing his faith and trust in the Divine. Devotion requires sacrifice and is often tested. The world is often selfish. True service is not just for humans but for all of God's creation. Helping hands are more valuable than folded hands in prayer. Enlightenment is the inner light of the heart, not external show. A true devotee holds the Divine within their heart, requiring mutual trust. The Christmas tree symbolizes divine light and celebration, reminiscent of ancient traditions of welcome. This day calls for universal forgiveness and peace for all beings, extending beyond humanity. All religions are connected to the one truth. India is the holy land and mother of many religions and philosophies, a place where all paths are respected. True dharma is a path of non-violence and love for every entity.

"Truth is the truth. Truth cannot be two. God is God. God cannot be two."

"Love your neighbor means after you, all creatures."

Oṁ sukhadam kevalam jñānamūrtim dvandvātītaṁ gaganasadṛśam tasmāsyādi lakṣyam ekam nityaṁ vimalāchalam sarvadhi-sākṣibhūtaṁ bhāvātītaṁ triguṇarahitaṁ śrī guruṁ tam namāmi. Oṁ guru brahma guru viṣṇu guru devo maheśvara. Guru śakṣāt param brahma tasmai śrī gurūve namaḥ. Dhyāna mūlaṁ guru mūrtiḥ, pūjā mūlaṁ guru padam. Salutation to the cosmic light, lord of our hearts, omniscient and omnipresent in his divine presence. Very good evening, dear brothers and sisters here in this hall and around the world in different countries, all practitioners of yoga and daily life, spiritual seekers. Today a special blessing is coming to you from Om Vishwagurūdeep Āśram, Jaipur, Rajasthan. Yes, the whole world knows, and millions of people are celebrating Christmas today. That’s very good because we have to remember those events which happened on this planet, and especially among human society. Every holy incarnation is a great message for us. Well, in normal language, we call it birth. In spiritual language we call it incarnation. Birth and incarnation in some way are the same. But those who are born are born with destiny and karma. Those who are incarnated incarnate with their good will, free will. Therefore, it is divided into three categories: the birth, Nityān Avatāra, and Nimit Avatāra. Though Jesus is not on the list of the incarnations according to the Vedic culture, according to the cycle of time, the yugas, the manvantaras, it is said the incarnation is registered since human memory reaches the past. It has been asked and discussed, or spoken to Jesus, that Jesus, you are the incarnation of God, and he clearly refused. He said, "No, I am not an incarnation of God, but I am a son of God." I am a child of God. I am a messenger of God, like all of us are daughters and sons of God. But Jesus said, "I came here, or I was sent by the Holy, Divine Consciousness, the Holy Father, Brahman." It means the Brahman, the Supreme, the Holy Father, the Holy Spirit, and the Holy Son. What are you talking, thinking? Say something. You have forgotten entirely. So the Holy Father has sent me here to bring the message of the truth, the message of love, and the message of forgiveness. And that he did. Life was not easy. Jesus’ life was not easy. Even his birth was not easy. There were many questions. How Jesus was born, his mother still remained virgin, and that light of the Lord manifested, entered in the embodiment of Jesus. The message of Jesus is exactly the same as the message of the Vedas, Upanishads, and Purāṇas. The Holy Bible, when you read and compare it with the different Purāṇas, then the ṛṣis, which ṛṣi had which kind of siddhis and miracles, the similar is described also in the Bible. There was a great saint, Agastya Ṛṣi. And Agastya Ṛṣi’s story, you know. And the same thing is also described in the Bible. And also, the name is given as Agastya. So, every religion is somehow connected to each other. Why? Because truth is the truth. Truth cannot be two. God is God. God cannot be two. Love is only love; it cannot be two. Happiness can be only one. That happiness cannot be two. Quality is different. Time is different. Feeling is different, but the reality is the same. And therefore, at different times, in different yugas, according to the time and space—meaning the mentality, the culture, and the situation—such a great light descending on this planet, what we call the great saints, the ṛṣis, the holy incarnations or God incarnations. Today, around the world, we are celebrating, remembering Christmas. This means Jesus was born. And when he came, he brought the light of truth and love again to those people. I would not say that at that time in Israel there was no love and no truth. That would be wrong to say, yes. In Israel, there was light, there was love, there was mercy, and there was belief. But still, there was some confusion, and why he came, and his coming was not so easy. He had a hard life. He had a very hard life. He was crying, screaming, full of pain. And he was screaming, and he said, "Holy Father, is there not somebody else you can send? Why me? Just me?" And the voice came, oracles came, because I love you and I trust you. I love you and I trust you. The trust, even God has to trust the bhakta’s faith. And you will see in India, in Indian histories, many, many times, tapasvīs, austerities, those who were doing austerity. Now, austerity is translated in modern language as research. As to reti, tapasyā means the research work. Yes, that’s true. Spiritual research work. And those who were doing the tapasyā, they didn’t have an easy life. Many, many times, a hard life came. And even God was testing them to see if they were really bhaktas or not. Ask your heart, how much do you love? How much do you trust? It’s very easy to say, "Lord, I will be Thine, God." And then God comes and says, "Okay, come. Come, go with me." No, I mean this, not that. Now I go with you, Lord. No, no,... no. My father and my wife. Lord, I love you, and let me be here. You go alone. I love you. I am yours, but let me be here. You go back alone. That means, how much can God trust you? How much love you have for God, how much you can sacrifice, that’s why it is said, and it is said, "Even I have to walk on the thorns, even I have to walk through the fire, even I have to leave my country, even through death I have to go, but Lord, still I will be dying." So how far can you trust Bhagavān? Bhagavān has many times tested the devotees to see. The world is self-interested. The work got done, and he left. He will not tell me. We are humans, and the worldly consciousness is full of self-interest. What will these people do? Selfishness, greediness. Kāma bandh gayā, chale gayā, Bābājī, Gurujī kahī beṭar ho. And especially now, I experience so many people who come to Europe, Indian, don’t be sad. They come to Europe and Vienna or anywhere, "Oh Gurudev, Swamījī, how great you are," and this and that, and please and that. Oh, I am hungry because I don’t like the bread, only everyday bread, butter, and this. Can you make some ashram food? In the ashram, they are making dal bati churma. For Rajasthani people, it is dal bati churma. Bajrī kī roṭī, makkī kī roṭī, gwarphalī kī sabjī. Bhās, phir kyā chāhiye? Swamiji, hotel, 10,000 rupees per night. Can I sleep on the mattress in the ashram? Why not? You are my... Gurujī, if I come to your ashram in India, will I be able to meet you and serve you? After coming here, we don’t even call Gurujī. We forget. And we call Gurujī and say, "Oh Swāmījī, you have come." It was very good. It was very good there. I will meet you there. Hari Om. Selfishness. This world is of selfishness. That’s why Acharya Rām Jī Mahārāj said, "Hoseyār reynā piyāre, nā jānā bhūl ṭhagāke." Yeh nagrī hai thagāun kī, thagte hai dam pīlāke. Hoseyar reyna piyare, na jaana bhool thagaake. Therefore, what Jesus got the message was, "My son, I do trust in you, and that’s why I call you my son." Can I call you my disciples? Yes, I can, but you are not sure. That’s it. Ask yourself, what can happen in this universe which can separate me from Swamījī? That’s it. It doesn’t matter what will happen throughout the whole universe; no one can separate Jesus from the Holy Father. That was it. So he brought such a message of confidence, faith, love, purity, service. Holy Gurujī used to say, service is the highest realism. Serve, serve, serve. Give, give, give to the needy one. Serve all creatures. Now, in this modern time, we are speaking sometimes of negativity. And what we call the human service is the highest service. That is not correct. That’s not correct. Who are the humans? What do you think humans are? You think only you are existing on this planet? You think God created only you? You think God loves only you? No. Forget. God doesn’t love only humans. And God did not create only humans. God created the entire planet. Rivers, ocean, lakes, vegetation, mountains, desert, all and all, 8.4 million different creatures are the children of God. Light of God, it represents the light of God. Therefore, it is a discrimination toward other creatures which God has created. Therefore, where there is Seva, it is not said all humans, Seva Dharma, helping. And therefore, I used to say, helping hands have more value than folded hands. If there is some needy person who comes to your house and says, "Can I have 500 rupees?" and you are a very rich man, the man will say, "Please come tomorrow, forgive me till today, I am in a hurry." Your folded hands will not help that person, and you are praying to God. And what happened? Someone had a heart attack in the neighbor’s house. That neighbor’s wife is shouting. Help me. What happened? I will help you after the āratī. Until then, that poor man dies. So stop the āratī and first help me. That’s called sevā. That’s called the attention. That’s by helping hands. Have more values than folded hands, so first help them. The needy one, even the animals. You see how many dogs are here in the street, ill dogs. Every day I am looking and observing how many Indians hear you, because I am talking today in India. Ever you think to catch this dog and bring it to the veterinary doctor to get treatment? Can you feel? The pain of this poor dog in the street, or leg broken under the car driving accident, did you ever think to take that street dog which has broken the leg to bring to the veterinary doctor? No. That is a problem. That means we, our love, our heart, does not have that light of love. And that’s what our Paramahaṁsa Dr. Pushpa, Lata Jī Garg, she taught. That Jesus said, "Do not decorate outside, but decorate your heart. Light in the heart," and that is a message, and that’s what in Vedas and in Upaniṣads and in Yoga it is said: enlightenment, enlightenment. Don’t make up to dent outside, just have a good paint. That is nothing. Either you are lighted, or you are enlightened. But we are searching for high society. High society. Everybody said, "I am high society," which is a lower society, no, lower society. All society is high society, and if you are still... Searching high society, then satsaṅg is high society, and kusaṅg is lower society, bad society. So everyone would like to be famous. Everyone would like to say, "I do this and that. I am so great." This is called, you would like to have a light it how you want to come on the stage to speak, because you would like that everyone sees, "Oh, you are talking nicely," but be lighted or enlightened, these are the different things. So, enlighten your heart, inner light, and... That is called the light of the wisdom. We had yesterday’s satsaṅg, and I translated Gurujī’s bhajan. So, enlightenment, that’s what we call it. For example, now I would like to compare how close we are. When Hanumānjī remained on this Mṛti-loka, and Bhagavān Rām, Lakṣmaṇ, Sītā, and all they went back to the Svarga-loka, or doesn’t matter which loka. Hanumanjī was sitting there, and Hanumanjī said, "My Lord is in my heart." Bhagavān mere hṛday mein hai. Merā Rām kahī̃ gayā nahī̃ hai. In my heart, so people said, "You are schizophrenic." You are ill, mentally ill. Arey, vo to gaye. He is in my heart, so there was some man, ruddy like me, show me. So Hanumānjī opened his chest skin, and what did the man see inside? What did he see? Rāma and Sītā sitting in the heart. Hanumānjī was that bhakta who could show, "There is Lord in the heart." Therefore, in India and Indian culture, we said, "Gurudev, I am your disciple." But I am not Hanuman, that I can open my chest and show that you are in my heart, my Gurudev. Trust me also. So not only does God have to trust the disciple, but the disciple also has to trust God. Same thing after so many years. The Rāmāyaṇa time was about 10,000 years. And Jesus’ time was about 2,000 years ago. Jesus also showed his holy heart. Why do we call it the holy heart? Because in that heart, God is living. In every heart there is a God, but adoration to that heart in which the Lord speaks Himself. And so Jesus was capable to sow the holy heart, to give the holy heart. It means you give your confidence, you give your faith, you give your love, you give your trust. And so when the God Rāma came back from Śrī Laṅkā to Ayodhyā after 14 years, he came after 13 years, 14 years. After 14 years, Bhagavān Rāma comes to Ayodhyā. On the other side, Mother Kauśalyā is waiting. She became old in 14 years, like she would be about 40 years old. Different. In 14 years, she was more old, like, she would be, it will take 40 years to become so old. The other side of Bharat. If the brother, then he should be like a Bharat. And Bharat or Rām Milān, that is something beautiful. Now, people are fighting to get the kingdom and kill the father. Even like a cunt’s. And even they don’t want to give one square foot of the land to their brother. When the god Rāma went to the forest for fourteen years. And people ask, "Ram, what do you think?" He says, "I am very happy." They say, "Why are you happy? You got a punishment." He says, "No, no,... that you think is a punishment. I am blessed." I am the luckiest and happy. Bhagavān kī param kripā ho gayī mere par. What? First, my father became free from his promise. Wo apne rind se mukht ho gayī. And my dear mother, Kekai, she fulfilled her promise. What can be greater happiness for a child than when the father and mother are happy and free? Third, how great I am that my brother will be king. Bharat, if anyone does something to me, I will say, "Careful, my brother is king." I will be proud to say that my brother is the king. And fourth, how happy I am, how blessed I am that I will have the opportunity to have darśana of so many swāmīs, saints, and satsaṅgas. I am happy. So God Rāma comes back. Whole Ayodhyā was happy. What did they do? Because it is dark. Diwali is coming when the sun is setting earlier. Diwali pe thandī chalo ho jātī hai. So people decorated the trees in the street, put out oil lamps, and because so many people will come to see God, Rāma, who will be there in their service to give them some food? Who will be the host? Everyone will be sitting like a guest. And therefore, they placed a lot of food, water, milk, and yogurt. That time, there was no bread. There were chapatis and sweets and decorated trees, so that every creature could find something to eat. That tree is called the tree of the light. And the same tree, now you go to South India, you will find, we call it, dīpak ke jhaṛ, a lamp tree. And so the Christmas tree reminds me that after 10,000 years, again when the Jesus Christmas came, we brought this light back, and we have this tree here. It reminds that Rāma is coming back, or it reminds that Jesus is born, that everything is illuminating, divine light is coming. Children get the presents, friends get the presents. And today is the day in Christianity that everyone should forget and forgive others’ mistakes. Because Jesus said, "Father, they don’t know what they do." Please forgive them. So this is the day of forgiveness. I would say it is not only for Christians. But for all humans, it doesn’t matter which religion you believe in. Open your holy heart, embrace all in your heart, and forgive their mistakes. Who does not make mistakes? They said, even in heaven, there is a small hole. Heaven is also not completely, how to say that, foolproof. So, every one of us, none of our hands are clean. We all make mistakes, but still we are the children of one God. And we should be able to forgive everyone and forget all that they did. And let us live in harmony and in peace, no fighting. Jesus never brought a war. He didn’t fight against. And so, also in Hinduism, it is saying, "Sarve bhavantu sukhinaḥ, sarve santu nirāmayāḥ, sarve bhadrāṇi paśyantu, mā kaścid duḥkhabhāg bhavet." All should be happy; all should live in peace. And the risk is, they were not thinking only for humans. I am telling you, look, don’t say human service is the biggest service, no. Manavsevā sabse mahān hai, yā baḍī hai. You forget this word. Remember what the ṛṣi said in Vedas time. That time: "Om Dhyoḥ Śāntiḥ, Antarikṣaṁ Śāntiḥ, Pṛthvī Śāntiḥ, Āpaḥ Śāntiḥ, Vanaspatayaḥ Śāntiḥ, Nākṣatraṁ Śāntiḥ, Vedeva Śāntiḥ." They didn’t pray only for them. Even they pray for the trees, for the herbs, for the water, for the planet, and even for the entire universe. And even they pray for the divine consciousness, Brahmā Śānti. And the same śānti should be within me, and viśva śānti, world peace. World peace came from this Vedic prayer, the śānti prayer. Therefore, dear brothers and sisters, I am very happy to celebrate Christmas here in our ashram. Many Indians were asking me, "Swāmījī, you are living now 40 years in Europe and you became Christians." I said, "Yes." Because we were not born as Christians or Hindus, we are humans. I take the good knowledge from every religion, like a bee takes the honey from every blossom. The problem is that we make the differences. And Sanātana Dharma is that root, the trunk of all religions. And Sanātana Dharma respects every path, every belief. Therefore, India is the home of many religions. India is a home of many cultures. India is a home of many tribes. And India is the holy land because it is the India where so many holy incarnations and holy saints incarnated. Therefore, India is known as a holy country. Unfortunately, in the last 50 or 60 years, the Indian constitution brought the word that called it a religiously free country. It is a secular country. Now, this Dharma Nirpekṣatā brought in India the biggest problem ever. As long as this world will exist, in the constitution of India, India will not be free from all these attacks of the terrorists or any kind of difficulties that India is suffering. Because this is misunderstood. The constitution has to be changed or suffer. India is a country of religion. India is a country of love. India is a country of philosophy, culture, and India is a country of understanding and ahiṃsā. All religions are welcome and understood in India equally. But due to the modern political situations, they are making the religions fight. Religious people don’t want to fight, but due to their political benefit, they are making the people aggressive, provoking in them the fire of differences, religions, and caste, and countries, and nations, and cultures. Unless this will not go away, there cannot be peace in the world. Now the whole world knows only the Vedic Dharma can bring peace in the world. The human rights points, 80% of the human rights points are from the Upaniṣads. You can read in this. What a great risk it is. Therefore, India was known as the guru of the entire world. It is, and it will be. But we Indians, unfortunately, through politics, have destroyed all religious feelings. People are afraid to be religious, and that is not good. So, no doubt, India is a holy country. India is a mother of religion. India is a mother of God. India is a mother of philosophy. India is a mother of religion, and India is the holy, the greatest soil on this earth. Where again the divine consciousness will incarnate, will descend here on Indian soil, and so Jesus was also welcomed in India. He spent a lot of time in India when the Bible, in the Testament, the years are missing. No one tells where Jesus was, but he was in India. There is a clear sign that Jesus was in India, and that is 100% sure. He practiced yoga. He learned how to go to samādhi and the time of the crucifying. He went into samādhi, so he did not feel that much pain which one should feel. All religions are the same. My adoration, my respect to every religion and to all divine souls and holy incarnations. God bless us all, and that’s why today we have Christmas celebration in our ashram. I wish that every church will celebrate the Rāmnāmī, every church will celebrate the Janmāṣṭamī, every church will celebrate the Eid, and all these holy festivals of other religions, as well as Guru Pūrṇimā, like we are celebrating Christmas and all others. Festivals of different religions in our ashram. So, dear brothers and sisters around the world, I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Happy New Year. God bless you. And if I spoke something wrong, please forgive me. Let us adore the one God, the universal God, that is the Lord of everyone’s heart. Only one truth, there’s no two truths. And that truth will remain ever as a truth, and that’s called dharma. We should go on the path of dharma, not the path of adharma. If you kill others, if you have discrimination towards others, even other animals, then you are doing adharma. Therefore, lead the vegetarian life. Jesus said, "Finally, thou shalt not kill. Thou shalt not kill." He didn’t say you should not kill humans. But he said only one sentence: "Thou shalt not kill." Jesus’ life was full of miracles. Ill people used to come to him to get healthy, and Jesus said to them, "You are ill because you don’t eat what you should eat, and you are ill because you are eating wrong things. You should eat honey, the nuts, and the grains which are growing in the field: milk, honey, grains, and the nuts. You will be healthy." Jesus was vegetarian, no doubt. But if we believe Jesus, then we should also be vegetarian. If you believe the word of the Holy Bible, "Thou shall not kill," then we should be vegetarian. And to become vegetarian is the answer to protect and solve the problem of global warming and climate change. Change, therefore, ahiṁsā paramodharma. Pitāmaha Bhīṣma said this before 6,000 years or more at Kurukṣetra, and after that also, Bhagavān Mahāvīra and others accepted this word, and Gandhījī brought the words of ahiṁsā. We are all connected. All beliefs are connected because truth is one. And it is in love you are next. All, not only humans. Love your next, your wife. You need not to be told to love your wife. You love your wife, or you love your husband. And if you don’t love your husband or wife, and someone tells you to love your wife, you will say, "Stupid, why should I do that?" And you will get divorced. So no one can force you to love just your family members. But what Jesus said, "Love your neighbor," means after you, all creatures. And that’s why Bhagavān Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Mahāprabhujī said, "Finally, love each and every entity as much as you love thyself." If you cannot love more, then love as much as you love thyself. Mahāprabhujī said, "Love each and every entity." If not more, then at least that much, as much as you love thyself. Once more, dear brothers and sisters, wish you a happy Christmas. And if you have a birthday, then also, happy birthday. If I spoke something wrong, please forgive me. Adios.
