I am a human

The moon's phases govern our body's biorhythms, influencing hormones, nerves, and emotional balance. Within the 72,000 nerves, three principal channels—Iḍā, Piṅgalā, and Suṣumnā—affect body, mind, and consciousness. The left nostril connects to emotions, the right to intellect and creativity, and the central nerve to consciousness. These channels intersect at energy centers, or chakras, which process experiences and toxins. Health depends on hormonal balance, which is swayed by the moon and the flow of energy through these subtle channels. Illness begins as invisible disharmony on an emotional level before manifesting physically.

Social health erodes through collective habits and distance. Substance abuse creates social illness and disharmony. Modern technology and isolation destroy human connection and quality. Social health requires gathering, understanding, and healthy traditions. Conflict, harsh words, and violence are social diseases. The foundation is personal behavior. Begin each day with a positive, spiritual thought to filter the day's events. Remember "I am human," an affirmation that awakens compassion, kindness, and forgiveness while subduing jealousy, greed, and ego. Human qualities are awakened through meditation, prayer, and giving. Kind words and humble requests are powerful. True spirituality is expressed in daily conduct, creating a healthy society.

"Our health balance depends on the moon."

"Spirituality is your behavior."

Part 1: The Moon, the Nāḍīs, and Social Health It is two tones at the same time. In singing, when there are two tones, there is no tone. One is singing opera, another is singing rock and roll. What is roll? Rock and roll. Opera and rock and roll don’t go together. No? So, good evening. Hari Om. Today is our second day, and something is always changing. Something new is coming. The day was good, but it is a dark moon night. From the full moon, it slowly, slowly decreases to become the dark night or dark moon, and then comes the new moon, the crescent moon. Slowly, slowly decreasing, increasing, it becomes the full moon again. With this entire biorhythm, the ocean and planets are changing. This means in our body, too. Many changes come in our body, in the hormones also. Nerve systems, circulation, hormones—as well as with these hormones, our emotional imbalance takes place either on the dark moon or the full moon. Our health balance depends on the moon. In our body, there are 72,000 nerves. Out of these, 27,000 nerves are responsible for receiving the conscious, clear consciousness—the energy in our consciousness—and transferring it as life, as feeling in the body. From the 72,000, three are the most valuable or most important channels in our body, and they affect our body, our mind, and our consciousness. These are called Iḍā, Piṅgalā, and Suṣumnā—the three nāḍīs. The left nostril is connected to our emotions, and the right nostril is connected to our temperament, intellect, and creativity. The third one is called the central nerve, Suṣumnā, which is a mighty one, connected to and controlling our consciousness. These three channels, nāḍīs, are the sympathetic, parasympathetic, and central nerve. They come together, and the central nāḍī goes direct. The left and right ones are always controlled or attracted by the mighty power of the central nerve. This right and left begins from behind our head, at the small of the brain; its reflection is on the forehead. This is also called the seat of knowledge, the third eye, and this is the place where concentration takes place. When they come down and cross, that’s called our first chakra, the energy center in our body, that’s called Viśuddhi chakra. Viṣ means poison, śuddha means purification. All kinds of toxins from the body are purified through this chakra. And here especially, those poisons which we swallow down in the form of negative experiences in life: bad words, bad treatment, bad society, many things, bad experiences which we have. Often we say, "Well, it was very hard, but I swallowed it down, I swallowed it down." And that goes to the Maṇipūra Cakra, to stomach problems. So, sometimes people have so many problems that they have trouble speaking. At certain times, you can’t speak, and it’s like something is stuck here. Many people have psychic problems. Or, you practice certain exercises; this will free you from those tensions and problems which you swallow down. It is that which reflects on our thyroid gland. Out of many, many glands, the thyroid gland is also very important, connected with the hormones. And the hormones of the thyroid are influenced very much by the moon phase, in which position the moon is, and what we should eat and what we should not eat on these two or three days. The entire hormonal system in our body is influenced by the moon, and we know the play of the hormones. We know how important hormones are in our body. These two nerves cross here and go down to the Anāhata Chakra, which we have here in the center of the chest. We may call it the heart chakra. That’s called the holy heart because the seed of the divine consciousness of God, or your soul, yourself, is there. That is the center of devotion, bhakti. But sometimes this devotion can turn into negative feelings. Likewise, the Jāmanīpur, which is also connected with our solar plexus. And that’s why it’s called the snake power. There is no snake, there is no snake power. But it is the attitude of this energy, how it’s flowing, that is going like a snake. Now, these movements of the nerves—and that is, not that the nāḍīs are moving like this, but the energy is moving. And these three nāḍīs—nāḍīs means nafs, and there is no translation in the English language, German language, Italian language, French language, Croatian language, Hungarian language, or Czech language. As far as I know, in all these languages, there is no translation of the nāḍīs from Sanskrit to these languages. Therefore, we always say nāḍīs. Otherwise, nāḍīs are different than these physical nāḍīs, which is what we mean. Our health condition depends on our hormones, and hormones depend on the nāḍīs, on the nerves, and how they bring the energy there. And that is also emotional, our chakras. We know that yesterday I spoke about these five different bodies: the physical body, energy body, mental body, intellectual body, and causal body. Any illness comes to us when we feel that we are ill. It’s already too late. The attack of the illness is in the form of disharmony. And this disharmony, which is not visible yet on the physical level, is on an emotional, very fine level. And that’s a social problem. Where we are somewhere, we can’t do anything. We just take it easy, that’s all. Suppose you are getting on your bus. I see here people have too many cars. Now nobody is sitting in the bus. You can’t tell people, "Go out, you are not smelling good." You can’t say, "If you don’t like it, you go out." So this is what I mean here, that we have to take it easy. We cannot do anything against it. But that goes into our subconscious, and that influences our fine energy body. That becomes a big problem one day. So, the first step of social health is that we can become free, easily free ourselves from the enemy, but not from the bad habits. And that means abusing drugs. After some time, drugs abuse you. You would like to give up, but the drug doesn’t want to give you up. And it’s very hard to get rid of it. And anyone who is using these things in social life doesn’t have that kind of respect or value for that person. Everyone tries to avoid them. That is connected as a social illness, social disharmony. Why? Because we changed ourselves in a negative way. Now, social life is different. The people who drink alcohol, they sit together, they don’t think it’s bad. But others who don’t think and who have a problem with alcohol, they think it’s bad. So also, those who take drugs think it’s not bad, but we know it’s bad. Now that we come into conflict, who are we to judge what is good and what is not good? Who are we to judge someone? And that is a problem. So the best education we can get is in childhood from parents. Listen to your parents. Don’t go to certain activities where people drink too much or take alcohol or some kind of drugs, and so on. Number one. Number two, there is a clear difference between ego and self-respect. So what is self-respect, and what is ego? What is the difference between that? Self-respect means you have to respect others, then you get self-respect. And to get self-respect, you have to dress properly and wash properly, because it is a respect to others. There are some people, when you have to sit beside them, it’s a little bit of a hard time, a challenging time, because it smells different. That’s very hard, so we would like to do that through my appearance. No one should have negative feelings or unpleasant feelings to avoid; that belongs to social life, social health, and social respect. Another thing is that we learn that nowadays people are having distance from human to human. Even from partner to partner, from children to children, there is a lot of distance taking place. Every one of us has a laptop. Every one had only one television at home. Now, in every room, there is a television. And now, in every room, there are two people. They also have what you call laptops. And now, this laptop is not enough. And every child has playing, game playing. So, we are divided in the things; again, we are not there. That destroys human quality and social health. Social health is there where there is a healthy society. A healthy society can only be when people come together and understand. Our old system, old traditions were very, very… very good to keep our society healthy. Means there were certain festivals; all come together from all different cultures and walks of life. Everyone comes and has a nice gathering together, having time to speak to each other. Now, you go somewhere in a big function, you have no time to talk to anyone, you listen only to what is there, and you go away. So social life is destroying. Day by day, social life is dying, and that is not healthy for us as humans. The wars are there, humans are killing humans, bombs are exploding, many, many things. Is this not a social illness? Yes, it is a social illness. What you think is your happiness—you kill someone, you are happy. And how many are unhappy that you kill someone? Nowadays, killing a human, one doesn’t think a lot about it. Just go and kill. So this is a social illness. War, fighting, is a social illness. Only one is there. It is called the first step to it. In the holy book, the Rāmāyaṇa, Tulasīdāsa said: "Vaśīkaraṇa mantra eka yahī hai, tajī bachana kaṭhora." You understand Hindi? Yes. Vashikaraṇa Mantra, ek yehī hai: "Tajde Bachan Kathor." The best mantra to make all your friends: "Tajde Bachan Kathor"—give up harsh words, give up hard negative words, speak kindly. Now there is a new movement. Young people say, "Why should I be kind to someone? Why should I say thank you?" We say, "Be nice." Why should I be nice to others? It’s a terrible situation. I’m traveling around the world, you know. At least once a year, I’m making the circle around the world. And I see so many countries and different people. It’s very, very… They don’t know what to do, and they don’t want to listen. We are bombarded day by day by certain media. You go into the kids’ stores, playing with toys. They are mostly toys with guns, and this, and wars, and fighting. They are also playing in this little game: fighting, war, shooting. These young children, they think this is the world, that’s how it should be. And we all from other generations, we know how peaceful our world was, what we have seen: respect and love. So, charity begins at home. If you want to change the world, then Mahatma Gandhi said, be the change you want to see. So, begin with your own children at home to give them a very nice spiritual and social education. Spirituality is not something that you think, oh, yeah, that is spirituality. You can’t see. It’s untouchable. You can’t imagine. Nothing. Spirituality is your behavior. That behavior will tell you if you have good spirituality, if you are spiritual or not. An apple is very good, looks nice, but when you eat it, then you will know if it is sweet, sour, bitter, or what it is. So you are good, dressed, everything, but you still don’t know what’s going on in you. Sometimes you smile, but you don’t know if it’s really smiling. And often I see when you go to some people and say hello, they say, "Mm-hmm," that’s all. Part 2: The Foundation of Spiritual and Social Health Spiritual health and social health depend on our own attitude. Do not put conflict in your mind. Trust. If trust is lost, everything is lost. Who has lost the trust? That beautiful bird has lost its wings, and now the cat of destiny is coming. The bird wants to escape, but the cat will catch it. The bird tries to move its muscles, but there are no wings. So we need the wings of spirituality and ethics, to be developed with the children from their youth. Last time I spoke about what we should give ourselves every day: self-suggestion, self-instructions. It is a very simple thing. When you wake up, as soon as you open your eyes, see the divine pictures of God, or your mother, or husband, or wife, or children—good pictures. Or say your mantra: "Aum," peace, happiness, something good. Put in your brain immediately a positive sentence. There are some people who say, "Swāmījī, when I wake up, I say, 'Oh God, again I woke up.' I don’t want to leave. Swāmījī, this is my problem: I don’t want to wake up." So the first thought should be a nice spiritual mantra. That will remain with you the whole day. You wake up and say, "Oṃ Śānti," peace, love, harmony, happiness, good health. Anything—a good sentence that will protect you the whole day. Anything that will come in the whole day’s life will be filtered through that one first morning thought. That’s why it is said the morning Brahmamuhūrta is the golden time. Brahmamuhūrta, the time of the Supreme. Then say, "I am human." Look at this one thought: "I am human." When you say, "I am human," and later someone tells you to do something bad, that morning thought which you put in your subconsciousness—that "I am human"—will prevent you. You can’t do this the whole day. You will say, "I am human, I can’t do this." If someone did something wrong, we would say, "Oh God, how cruel. It’s not human." Mahātmā Gandhījī said, "Vaiṣṇava jana to tene kahīye, pīṛa parāye jāṇe re." A Vaiṣṇava is one who understands the pain of others. And in Christianity, if someone did something wrong, they said, "Oh, this was not a Christian." And in Islam, it is also written very clearly: if you kill one human, you kill all of humanity. Do we follow these holy books? Or are holy books for us only a rubber stamp for our business? Many parties are having elections, you know, using this religion and that religion. So, I am a human. Oh, beautiful. Second, a thought will come: what does it mean for me to be a human? Oh human, you cannot hide yourself anywhere. There is no way you can hide, and you think that you will do bad things and no one sees. Always, there are two who see constantly. What you think—you think that nobody knows what I think. But there are two here who know exactly what you are thinking. You can’t hide. Don’t begin to sweat, okay? And there are two: one is yourself, and the second is God. You can’t run away from these two. So what does it mean for me to be a human? Act according to the human. Do not destroy. Do not challenge. Don’t do that. Don’t do this. Now we see people are happy to make someone unhappy. And they don’t look at their own karma, what they did. One man is riding on the bus. No smoking, yeah? But he has a cigarette in his mouth. No smoking. That’s it. So, what have you done? What is your life history? What is your inner chapter? We call it svādhyāya. Sva means the self, adhyāya means the chapter. What is your life chapter? What have you done? First you should purify and clear that, and then you can say yes. So, who are we to challenge someone and do like this? Therefore, I am human. What does it mean for me to be human? And the third question will come: what makes me human? Not two legs and two hands, not this human body. There are some people, what we call, oh God, like a devil. How can they do this? So to have this human body means still we are not human. There are human qualities to be awakened. And human qualities are compassion, kindness, love, forgiveness, understanding, giving, support, protection, and many more. These all positive qualities are the decoration of human quality, human life. And hate, jealousy, doubt, conflict, greed, selfishness, ego, revenge—these are the qualities of the devils. And both are hidden in us. Both are hidden in us. We think we follow these spiritual scriptures, but I don’t think we follow. Maybe we follow 1% for our selfishness. That is also for our selfishness. Is there someone capable of giving, of showing the second cheek if someone hits you on the left cheek? The person who himself reads the Bible and says, "Jesus said, if someone hits on the right cheek, show the left one," and you go and hit him on his cheek, what will he do who has the Bible in hand? Will he say, "Okay, brother, this is also one more here?" No. Immediately, fire will awake inside. Inner bombs will be active, exploding. Therefore, do we feel and are we worthy enough to say that we are human? So, how to awaken the human qualities and how to delete the inhuman qualities? These are the āsurī śaktis and daivī śaktis. And that comes through meditation, through prayers, and through giving. Give. Give attention. Give kindness. Give support. Do something good, and give good words. One sentence or one word can make you the best friend of a person, and one can make you their worst enemy. Go tomorrow to some office, and you have very urgent work to be done, and the office time is nearly over, Purījī, and the person is just getting up from his chair to go home, and you come running, and say, "Please, please,... Sir, please, kindly, can you do this? It’s just your stamp and signature I need, please, sir." Though he or she is in a hurry and doesn’t want to do it, but you are kindly. I said, "Okay, good. Next time, come one time, please, and give." The stamp, and your work is done. Please be kind. Can you help me do these? These are the humble words. This is a prayer. Instead of saying this, say, "Hey, bloody man, stop. Do my work and then go home." Oh, my God, he will do like this. That’s it. Vashikaran mantra, ek yehī hai, tajde bacchan kathor. The best healing power is to give up harsh words and have kind words. But kind words come when you really have kindness in your heart. Don’t see it on one side. Otherwise, it is said, there is a beautiful poem in Hindi: "Sabbe sahayak sabal ke, kohun nirbal sahay? Pavan jagavat aag ko, deepahi deta bujay." Clear? Yes. Sabbe sahayak sabal ko, sabal means the strong one, sabbe means sabhī, all. Everyone is supporting the strong one, kohun nirbal sahay, no one is a supporter of the meek one. Like what? The strong wind comes and it makes the fire even stronger. The whole bush is burning. It is the same fire. Deepahī Detā Bujāī, this flame, the same wind will blow off this flame. The same wind will give the strength to the fire to burn stronger and further. But the same one will blow off the flame. So people are always joining the political party which is stronger, always saying, "Bravo, bravo!" Whose football kicks once in the door, second time, third time—oh, and nobody is now concentrating on the weak ones. His or her power is going down and down and down. So what makes me human? I am human. How to awake the human qualities? That changes the entire behavior of the person. That means automatically in society, the appearance will be completely different, and that will create a healthy society. So, spirituality and health through yoga. Now, for this, we have today Swāmī Vivek Purī Jī. He is an excellent, perfect yoga teacher. I have known him since he was seventeen years old, and he is the president of yoga and the life of the whole of Croatia. Many, many centers are there, many people. So he will give you a few exercises. Do you want to have any particular exercise for any problem? Physical problem? Yes. That comes through what we have, what you call the Sarvahitāsana, in our book. Have you seen the yoga book? Is this your first time here? You are not here for the first time, and you don’t know our yoga book? Oh my dear, this is a mistake of your yoga teachers. They are not a teacher, you know. If they are a real teacher, they will give you the reality. So, this was what I was speaking about: chakras, hidden powers. When you read this, you will know about all the glands and chakras, and this is your yoga bible. You don’t know this book? This book is the best doctor of... You are the best teacher of you, and it is such simple exercise, everyone can do it. Yesterday we were practicing, you were lying one hour on the floor. We were doing exercises, but they go home and they will ask you what you did. You say, "Oh, we have one hour," and we were lying down. But what we did was simple, the simplest of the simple. But when you practice, practice makes the master, yes? Then you say, "I don’t like it so simple, I want to be a little bit stronger and something." Then we have something also that you will one day learn a little more strongly, I can assure you, which is, I myself was avoiding a little bit. So when I come next time, I will introduce, you know. So, why don’t you have this book? Then why don’t you display it here? You should, everybody, how to say, offer them, you know. You are showing them only a piece of pizza in the picture; you don’t give them pizza. A hungry person, and you give them a slice of pizza—oh, how nice. Mahāprabhujī Karatā, Mahāprabhujī Karatā He Kevalam. And during certain months of the pregnancy, it is very, very good. We know that we are preparing one book out of yoga and daily life. This is for women’s problems. There was a conference, a scientific conference on yoga and daily life. Thirty-five doctors, scientists, and physiotherapists declared this system as a scientific system. And what was researching this about eight years? The research works, especially for the women, from the early age when they get their period, men know, till the old, old age, how many difficulties they have. Women always know what problems they have. And there are exercises which can 90% help you, 90%. 10% is, of course, not possible. Second, the research works for the nurses. Nurses, what, how much problems have with the back pain with the nurses or driver or one-sided work you have, like a dentist, all the time one-sided work. The dentist’s hand must be very fine, just half a millimeter, it goes a little, oh, the doctor has to work very fine, but their back is terrible afterwards. So this book is something which you at home can utilize, and it will support you very, very, very much. It’s not that I’m saying this book is my book; it’s a book of this boy who wrote this.
