Khatu Pranam with Mantras

Kaṭhūpraṇām is a practice for peace and harmony. It originates from a holy mountain where all religions coexist. The accompanying mantra invokes peace in all elements and within oneself. This practice is designed to create harmony between humanity and nature, as yoga postures are imitated from the natural world. Yoga is a science for holistic well-being, not a commercial sport. The system of Yoga in Daily Life is scientific and designed by experts; it must be followed faithfully to be successful. Teaching must come from love for the practice and for oneself, not from a desire for money. When you renounce the demand for payment and act with selfless love, success follows. A spiritually developed person masters themselves and responds to negativity with kindness.

"Peace on the earth, peace in the water, peace in the air, peace in the space, peace on the divine, peace within us, peace and peace everywhere."

"Yoga is not a sport, neither is it commercial; it is for the well-being of humans. Physical, mental, social, spiritual health."

Good morning, everybody. Today is Friday. We are more or less completing our second week of teacher training. I think we will have more teacher training courses, either on weekends or over a longer period. There is a program in our yogic life that is very well accepted and loved; people like it very much. It is called Kaṭhūpraṇām. Kaṭhu is a very holy mountain, a hill where all kinds of religions exist and all live in great harmony and oneness. It is where our Mahāprabhujī was residing. So, the first Kaṭhūpraṇām with mantra, and our Vijayā will guide you. Please. Saviṣaṁ svasti bhavatu, saviṣaṁ śānti bhavatu, saviṣaṁ maṅgalaṁ bhavatu, saviṣaṁ bhavatu. Vaikṣaṁ śānti, vṛtti śānti, kapha śānti, sādhya śānti. Anusprataya śānti, śvaiva śānti. Very good. With the Kaṭhūpraṇām, page number one, with mantra. This mantra means peace, health, harmony, contentment. You have practiced the first Kaṭhūpraṇām beautifully. And this mantra means peace, harmony, and health. Peace on the earth, peace in the water, peace in the air, peace in the space, peace on the divine, peace within us, peace and peace everywhere. May we achieve completeness. So, first we’ll repeat after our instructor, then you will repeat the mantra and change the posture. Can you tell us, Wendy? The second version? Yes. Look around. Yes, the whole mantra. Again, the first one. So, it is like this. First, he will chant, then you will chant and go to the position, okay? So, first he, then you, all of you. Saviṣaṁ svasti bhavatu, saviṣaṁ śānti bhavatu. Saviṣaṁ maṅgalaṁ bhavatu, Saviṣaṁ bhavatu. Vaikṣaṁ śānti, vṛtti śānti, kapha śānti, sādhya śānti. Anusprataya śānti śvaiva śānti. Very good. One round more. Very good. One more round. Kīrti-pāya namaḥ. Sato mā sad gamaya, tamaso mā jyotir gamaya. Tyo mā vitam jñāmayaḥ. Sarveṣāṃ svasti bhavatu. Sarveṣāṃ śāntiḥ bhavatu. Sarveṣāṃ maṅgalaṃ bhavatu. Sa viśaṁ pūrṇaṁ bhavatu kya samastaḥ sukhino bhavantu. Śānti rikṣaṁ śānti śānti pāśānti sādhaya śānti. Svārthāya śāntiḥ. Oṁ viśva-dhīva-śāntiḥ. Mā-śāntiḥ. Sa-vām-śāntiḥ. Śānti-dhīva-śāntiḥ. Sa-mā-śāntiḥ. Perfect, very good. Kaṭhūpraṇām with the prayer of good health, happiness, peace, and harmony. On the earth, in this space, on the herbs, vegetation, water, and air, in the highest, the peace on the higher one, the Brahman, and peace within me. Peace, peace, peace. Address to Bhagavān Dīp Nārāyaṇ Mahāprabhujī. Every posture has its meaning, and more than 90% of all the yoga postures are imitated from nature. What we call Bhujaṅgāsana is a cobra. What we call Matsyāsana is a fish. So many postures in the name of nature. So the Kaṭhūpraṇām is designed to create harmony between man and nature. On this occasion of the International Yoga Day, we designed a second part of Kaṭhopaniṣad, which has more physical and spiritual effect. The number one also has beautiful physical and spiritual benefits. As our yogis, and especially also the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi ji, said, yoga is not a sport, neither is it commercial; it is for the well-being of humans. Physical, mental, social, spiritual health. It is a science of body, mind, and soul. So these two versions of Kaṭhūpraṇām are perfect. Around the world, we have so many centers where Yoga in Daily Life is taught. And Yoga in Daily Life has been taught around the world for nearly five decades. This is a scientific system. It has been designed under the guidance of doctors, physiotherapists, psychologists, philosophers, and yogīs. So it is a science, a scientific system. And a system you cannot change, because a system is not only temporary. For example, mathematics. Mathematics will remain always mathematics, okay? You can develop something, make research, but it is within the frame of mathematics. Ayurveda is Ayurveda. It is not allopathic, but when you change allopathic into Ayurveda, Ayurveda into allopathic, then you neglect the system, which cannot be successful. So there are different subjects, different systems. We have many centers in Australia. In Melbourne we have this very nice teacher, Gītā, and one of the teachers from Hungary, Swāmī Gopāl Purī. For nearly ten years, Gopāl Purī has been teaching there on local television, morning Yoga in Daily Life, very successfully. Because they remained on the system, and he was taught and learned, educated by Hungarian, because he was in Hungary. So Gopāl Purī’s yoga guru is Kṛṣṇānanda from Budapest. So you can understand, those who go under training from Kṛṣṇānanda from Budapest, they are perfect. Those who don’t follow him, they fail. The system of Yoga in Daily Life. Three persons from Hungary got a gold medal from the Olympic Games. Yes, and they are from Debrecen, under the guidance of Tyāgpūrī. Also we have one disciple, Nirañjanpurī. He has a very high post in Nokia, a telephone company, like a director, and he is a Yoga in Daily Life practitioner. It doesn’t matter where he is; he will practice every day. So there are many examples, many, many. So, five decades practicing this system, Yoga in Daily Life, there you see the success. And look how many systems they start and they fail. Generally, people do not have a love for yoga but love for the dollar. You see, not divine, dollar. So now, everywhere in every corner, people begin to teach yoga, but they don’t have ideas, background, and why you teach them that love; they don’t have it. This morning I had a talk with our dear Gītā and Gopāl Purī. The beautiful center where you go in Melbourne, you should visit. And especially the students, the followers of Gītā, they are very dedicated. When they come to their center, they feel like they are bathing in the divine energy, the nectar in a beautiful ocean. Similarly, all other centers—Sydney, Brisbane, Sunshine Coast, Gold Coast, Adelaide, etc.—are very much focused on this and love that. But unfortunately, many are just doing it for money and moving quickly, quickly. That’s not yoga. When you practice yoga, you should feel in your heart love. Love yourself. Love yourself. Love your body, love your heart. Love your organs, kidneys, liver, muscles, joints, nerves, mind. This is a divine ceremony for you every day. To worship thyself is a service to God. How do you worship yourself? Not that you put agarbatī and light and you say to yourself, "Hari Om, I pray, Pratyek, you are great." So, worship yourself means love yourself to get good health, be happy, relaxed, and develop wise thoughts. A spiritually developed soul, a person, will never pronounce a negative word to others. If you are angry with someone, with your husband or your wife, or your colleagues, friends, don’t say you are stupid. Oh yes, now I know how wise you are. Why do you say hard words? This is your weakness. You did not master yourself. Answer the gun with flowers. That’s it. I don’t know if it’s true or not, because I was not there. But when everybody tells, I also believe why Jesus said, "If someone slaps you on your left cheek, then also offer the right cheek." How many are here ready to accept? You must accept you are Christian because of the immortal words of Jesus. So, Vivek Purīhā, Vijaya, stand up. Is there somebody ready to take the gate to sleep on the... with full power? Please, come. Sit down, because Vijaya doesn’t dare to do it. Before that, he gives the sleep. He feels the love. Love to Jesus. So Jesus cannot give the slip. Therefore, there is no one who can give the trick. So, santabhāva, saintly. You must be saintly. Don’t think of money. When you think of money, then everyone will become very funny. Then it’s a poison, no honey. So don’t worry about money. Money is the dirt of the hands. It comes and it goes. Thanks to God. Nowadays we don’t touch the money. Only credit card, and even not a card. That’s it. So yoga, if you have a love for yourself, not for the money, and you understand why I’m teaching, then it reflects on your students, and your students, they have so much love for themselves and for their teacher and for their center. There are many centers, many centers, they said, "Don’t pay, come and practice." Now you will say three times in German or Austrian, they say three times, "Heads, heads, heads." Three times: heads, heads, heads. Now you will say, "Swamijī is making a joke," and your answer is three times, "Ha-ha-ha." Now you will say, "Swamijī makes a joke. There are centers." They said, "Come, practice, and go." But they have a donation box, because there will be electricity, this, this, and then out of a hundred, maybe three or four will not pay. Others will give the donation. When you renounce, you get more. And when you ask, you get half. At the same time, there is one organization from the disciples of Swāmī Śivānanda of Ṛṣikeśa. They have a few restaurants in India, in Malaysia, in Singapore, in Perth, and in many other countries. Beautiful restaurant. In Singapore, at the main center where all the business companies are, the rent is very expensive. It is pure vegetarian, and it is written, "Come, eat, don’t pay." So I was in a hotel, and I think Harriet from Vienna was with me and others. And we want to go eating for vegetarian restaurant, and taxi man said, "I bring you to one of the best restaurant." 100% vegetarian, neat and clean, on the second floor, very big business companies are there. And you know, you can eat free. No, who doesn’t want free? Even if it’s free, even if it’s poison and free, we will take it. And really, we went and everything was for him, no payment. And they served me specially, and they have one candle and one donation box. They don’t ask for donations. So one day, a very big company of India, like Tata or Birla or someone, so he went to eat there. And they said, "No, he did. Please don’t pay, no payment." And then he saw the donation box. And he left a check there, 5.25 million CZK. So they say, not Slovak, Czech. So trust in God. And all who are working there are volunteers. Mostly they are South Indian. So, my dear, if you practice and teach yoga for the money, then you lose that love and meaning. So in Melbourne, our Gītā and Gopālpuri and others, there is so much love. They work with the people, and people love them very much. I have been going there constantly for 20 years, and there are great bhaktas. So, it depends how you behave to others. I am to you as you are to me. I am kind to you, but I have selfishness, something I wish to have from you. Then you will not be successful, because others are also not stupid. Therefore, the principle is this: renounce. Just be, that’s all. Be humble, kind, Sant Bhāva. So, second Kaṭhūpāraṇam. And this time we will have mantra only: Oṁ Śānti. So, Kaṭhūpāraṇam, number two, or version number two. Yes, please get ready. Put off your sleeping blanket, are we? Come out of your sleeping bag. Okay. Oṁ Śānti Śānti Oṁ Śānti Oṁ Śānti Śānti Śānti... Looking up, not too much. Bend a little more, knees. Yeah, but straight back. Like horseback. Like horseback. Śānti, Śānti,... Śānti, Śānti,... Śānti, Śānti,... Śānti, Śānti,... Śānti, o śānti, o śānti, śānti,... Śānti, śānti,... I wish you all the best, and the next webcast will be in the evening. Tonight is the night of the incarnation of Bhagavān Śrī Kṛṣṇa. People are making the ceremonies in different ways. Mostly they love all Krishna as a little baby, who does not? Every baby is a Kṛṣṇa. Every little child is Kṛṣṇa. We say Gopāla, Bāla Gopāla. Bāla means the little child. And Gopal is a Krishna, the protector of the cows. So many they do for the householder. Every woman likes to have a little baby, you know, and every father admires. So every āśram admires because the new generation is coming. So we will make also here nice jhāṅkī, it’s called jhāṅkī, a kind of exhibition. So everyone can come and move to Krishna’s cradle, and you can give a donation. Krishna doesn’t want money, but this will go to our school children, for Gyān Putra, and it will have—fifty will go to our Shiva temple, which we are collecting in Vienna. Also, there will be a concert by our Havel, the Havel. He died long ago, and he will come back only this evening. So, our dear, dear, dear Havel, and some others also, and we will talk a little about Kṛṣṇa. What can we tell? As much as we tell, it’s too little. So we can say in one word, Kṛṣṇa was good. That’s all. So this is the evening program, and some are going today. We wish them a happy and comfortable journey. See you again. And they say, "Jai Śrī Kṛṣṇa." It means victory of the Kṛṣṇa. So all the best. Thank you. Hari Om.
