The meaning of Yoga

The divine resonance is the manifestation of God, from which all creation arises. This universe is endless, with a horizon that recedes as one approaches. The center of this universe is mirrored in the human body, beginning at the navel where the individual soul enters. Life develops from this point, as described in sacred texts. The science of the body is understood through authentic practice, not mere physical competition. True power arises from mental will and spiritual discipline, surpassing physical strength. The cycle of birth and death continues until self-realization is achieved, merging the individual with the infinite. World peace requires leaders to practice tolerance and recognize our shared humanity.

"World peace is possible only when all religious and political leaders of this globe practice tolerance, recognition, and respect for all other cultures, traditions, languages, races, nationalities, and religions."

"The soul has got this consciousness, awareness, feelings, etc., but no physical body. Now this soul is fluttering on the waves of time around the whole universe."

Welcome, everyone. It is lovely to see you, and I wish you a very pleasant Sunday. Sunday is a day for individual sādhana, practice, prayer, and for being with children—to explain to them the way of life, cultural life, and spirituality. Sunday is the day of the sun. Each of the seven days belongs to the seven planets, and each planet represents its own energy and vibrations on our Earth. In astrology, the Earth is not counted as a planet. It is known as the living planet. There is life on this planet; even in the stones and the soil, there is life. But it is the mortal world, not the immortal world. Those who come to this earth will enjoy a full life and overcome destinies, śikṣā. If it is not completed, we will come back again. Time is given, and you cannot avoid it. We are going to the airport or railway station. This is the skeleton. We will step on it, and you are going up, and it comes. Its time arrives, and it disappears. Steps. Similarly, we are now just stepping on it. But some are in front of us. They will go away. We will go away. New ones will come. This is called the cycle of birth and death. Through that Nāda Nāḍī Yoga, Nāda Rūpa Parabrahma, that resonance is the manifestation of God. From this resonance, taraṅga, the vibrations arise. Tarang means like waves on a pond. If you throw a stone, waves come, and they are in their own form. They do not go in a triangle form. Therefore, mostly clocks are round so that resonance goes equally in all directions. But if you have some kind of bell which is a triangle, it will ring in three corners. The rest will be recovered, and the resonance will still go equally in every direction. So Nāda, Rūpa, Parabrahma—that resonance is equally in the entire universe. With this resonance, it is called the light of God, which is the soul of God, and that is multiplying. Eko hampahu syāmī. I am one, and now I will multiply. That time begins the new creation, a new world. Maybe this earth will disappear, and some other planet will come. Other forms of life will come. You will hear sometimes from scientists that this earth will disappear, the ocean will disappear, everything. And then there is somewhere else, a better place. So, that place is maybe already being prepared. But as long as that consciousness is in peace, nothing is happening, because consciousness can do nothing. Chetan. Chetan means conscious, and that conscious has no desire; therefore, it can’t do anything. But that life is in that consciousness in the form of awareness. In awareness is the desire. Then, in desire are the thoughts, in which thoughts you... can say intellect, that comes into the emotion, then comes to the movement of the mind. Then develop the different indriyas. Don’t forget what I’m telling you. Okay, I will ask you, what did I say? Rozumiješ? Rozumiješ, čuješ? Okay. Each indriya, the senses, have different desires, and then the elements, the five elements, then the body is developed. The center of the universe, this you should know. The endless universe—we don’t know where the border is. How should we know the border, and how should we know the center? If we find the center, then we will find the border too. And that border is known as endless. That border is like a horizon. What is a horizon? How will you explain it? A very simple explanation: the horizon is that, the closer we come, the farther it goes. Even if we fly with an aeroplane, and we say, "Oh, in the horizon the sun is rising, or the sun is setting," and we fly quickly. As quickly as we fly, that quickly the horizon expands. So, as far as we go, that far is the endlessness. So, the middle point, the center point, is a Yadah, Brahman Day, Tathah, Pinday. What is in the universe is in this body. And what is in this body is in the universe. The rest, there is nothing. Emptiness. So, the center is the navel. And the first Jīvātmā enters the navel. That Jīvātmā is the Viṣṇu Śakti. And it comes in the form of the liquid, because that is a fire. And fire cannot exist without water, as cold is to the hot. When you hold something cold for a while, like an ice ball, your hands begin to burn because the coldness, the hotness, is gone. The coldness is gone, but this cold develops the heat. So this is in the garbha, in the embryo, of the earth. The heat sometimes breaks out, what we call the volcano. We have different explanations, but it is that heat of the Viṣṇu Śakti. And Viṣṇu has a Śeṣanāga over him. And the Śeṣanāga is balanced, the whole earth. When the Śeṣanāga feels a little tired, he makes Sarvahitāsana. Like this, or this earthquake is there. Viṣṇu looks to the Śeṣanāga. Śeṣanāga again, again balances. And you hope we don’t go so far that Śeṣanāga be peaceful. So life begins from the navel. Then develops intense time, with that, the spine, then comes a little, like a head of the needle, the brain. Then energy goes down, organs begin. And this is described very nicely in the 15th chapter of the Bhagavad Gītā. Bhagavad Gītā is a very holy book. Not in the dogma, but it is scientific. According to the Bhagavad Gītā, there are 18 different kinds of yoga. Every day when you read the Bhagavad Gītā, may you read the same śloka. You will get new knowledge, so it’s called the ever-giving milk cow. That is the science of the perfection of that language, which is called Sanskrit, the Sanskrit language. The Bhagavad Gītā is written in many, many languages, more than the languages existing. It is also written in the dialects. But the Sanskrit śloka, no one can change. That’s because it’s a śloka or sūtra. And in your language, "sutra" is tomorrow. So, Bhagavad Gītā, there is nothing we say tomorrow, not today. Bhagavad Gītā is not something that we say tomorrow, not today. Tomorrow is always tomorrow. The present is present. Anyhow, the 15th chapter describes the banyan tree and the human body. Same. This tree has the roots down and branches up. And human trees, the roots are above and the branches are down. Our brain is the main root. Our brain is the main root. And the udās are the branches that go down. So in the brain there is a Brahman, Viṣṇu. And Śiva is Antalāī. Gaṇeśa is Mūlādhāra. Because Mūlādhāra is not what you think it is, what is Mūlādhāra? Muladhara is not what you think it is. Mūl ādhāra. Mūl means roots. Ādhāra means the foundation. So the entire earth is balanced by Gaṇeśa Śakti. That is in our body. So there are many, many things which we have to understand. So in this life, where the endless comes, as long as we see, there is a horizon. Still, we did not get self-realization. When self-realization is there, then you become your self-horizon. You are one with that. But the first time when the resonance begins, then the souls come. That resonance begins in the ocean. An ocean is that, our belly, so the seat of the sound is in the navel. When children cannot speak properly, then in our Yoga and Lailāyī book there are a few postures, and children should do this exercise. Immediately their language will begin to get better. So we have postures, which ones are they? Aśva Sañcālan Āsana or Noka Sañcālan Āsana. Urda Sanchalan, many, many. So the āsanas are not gymnastics. Āsanas is not body building. Āsanas is not a competition. It is a science of the body. And what does the body science mean? If you will understand the body, the science of the body, then you must practice āsanas. Then you will understand. The sports, running or walking or swimming, biking, they are very good also, but they are one-sided, just to recharge more energy, and lose the energy. When you lose the energy, then you awake the energy. I was never marathon doing. My marathon was few meters several times a day. When Gurujī said, "Where are you, Mahesh?" then I was marathon. Bring this marathon. That was my marathon, but dormant energy in the body. We have active energy, some passive energy, lazy, tamoguṇa. Sattvaguna. These energies are for daily life. We need to relax to get energy. But when you do some kind of physical training, when you begin every day, there is one energy. With this power, you move. You run, but it comes to a border. That energy is finished. And immediately, in the body, energy begins to awaken. There was dormant energy, which immediately overtakes. Nowadays, they made a car which has petrol and electricity. And that was exactly what they researched from our body. So when petrol is finished, the electricity takes over. When electricity is less, the petrol takes over. So this is the main hidden path, the science in the movements of the sport. So these are the two principles, but there is a third one. And that leads to success. These two, when electricity is finished and petrol is finished, but our ambition is not finished, "I don’t want to die before I will reach my point," there comes called will power, mental power. And so, all the winners of the Olympics or any kind of game, they have to develop willpower through yoga practice, through yoga nidrā, through meditation, and through sāttvic diet. If you think that you eat more meat, you will have power. Yes, you will have power. You will have the power of that bull, but the bull will be finished. But the vegetarian diet, and when you eat what they call now vegan, and the seeds, there is a life which supports to grow further, so if you practice proper postures, then you can lean. So when we designed the yoga in their life, it was in Czechoslovakia. We began from 1974, and so, that time Czechoslovakia was supporting very much this sport. And they said, "Swamiji, this is yoga." I said, "Yes." Yoga is the father of this sport. Aha, rojumis. So, we were working. So, luckily, I had one disciple; he was a professor, a sports professor, and very spiritual. So we were talking together, and we came to improve the yoga, how to help the sport. So which posture, which prāṇāyāma, which nāḍīs will give strength to the brain? That brain is that which can bring us beyond the limitations. And that’s called mental power. So eating meat or some such kind of food and becoming muscles like this, that’s only physical. Mental power is stronger than physical. And more stronger than mental power is saṅkalpa. That saṅkalpa with the mantra, so this is how one can achieve what one wants. But again, it should be a very clear and authentic program. We get an apple, beautiful, shining, because there is wax on it. And beautiful, but it’s hybrid. Manipulated, and pesticides. Apple looks nice. But now we eat a plastic wax, not a real wax. Because real wax is finishing, bees are dying, so we have an organization, "Save the Bird," meaning every flying creature. When they will not be here, forget fruits and nectar, the honey. No honey, no Āyurveda. No scientist can make the honey. Honey, propolis, blue, what do they call it, pollen. Till now, no scientist can make blood. We can make blood in the battlefield. This we don’t want, so they cannot make the blood. Everyone has different blood. If they try to make some blood, what kind of germs do they have there? The genetic proof. Only God can do. So they made the seeds, seedless seeds. But the God seed will not die, and that is very spiritual. So the science of yoga is not something, what we call, science. It is a perfect science, and yoga can achieve it. But practice properly, authentic. So I looked in the authentic books. I spoke with a scientist, a psychologist, a physiologist, doctors, and philosophers. I had enough time, and in Czechoslovakia they also had enough time. They go in the morning to the office, drink coffee, everyone. Then they go for shopping, coming back, working a little, relaxing. Condition was one: everyone had to work; nobody should be unemployed. And if one is unemployed, go to the prison. And not sitting in the prison, go to the field and collect the potatoes. Perfect system. Perfect. Work is relaxed. Money is paid. As high position, little money. Street workers, more money. Penises. Anyhow, so yoga. These techniques, they are very divine techniques. What yoga and daily life have, many schools don’t have. And if they have, they have lost. You know, the snake is gone. You are beating on the line only, because this yoga and death life is a guru paramparā. And guru paramparā is eternal. For example, the system cannot exist if there is no guru-paramparā. It’s finished. If there is no guru, Croatians are trying to have the gurus. I will explain to you which one. You send your child to the nursery school. Who is there? The teacher. School, the teacher; learning car, the driver guru; learning music, my music guru; electric work, my guru; medicine, doctors, professors, surgeons—they need the guru. Now, you call the teacher, and we call guru. So fighting is with ignorance. Those who have ignorance, who don’t know, they fight. But those who know what a guru is will never fight. Croatia is a country which wants to have all its people educated. All should have academic education, but when there is no guru, then they will run here and there like a kangaroo. So every teacher we call teacher, and Indians call guru. The language. Then the teacher is called the master, and the master is called the guru. Only the language is different. Yes, Croatians are very strict. You cannot work certain if you have not diploma. And you cannot just write a diploma for your hands. You must have a record; you study so many years. So when someone writes negative words for the guru, then you should write a letter. I think you did not study. You didn’t meet the guru. Please come, I will tell you the guru and then correct your mistake. So many foolish, I thought people are very wise here, that’s it. The language is the problem. And that language problem creates religion. And that religion is fighting because of a language problem. Yes, that’s it. So the Bhagavad Gītā was written so perfectly that till now, no one could change one half alphabet. That is the miracle of that language. If you change half a sentence or half an alphabet immediately, the disc will stop. It will not go further. The break. Put technically, what to do. No techniques are there. That is your knowledge. That is your perfection, so we should have a perfect language. Croatians have beautiful poems, many good philosophers, good writers. It’s a very good language. But now it became a new, new, new age, like this. So we don’t know what to keep. Your old culture, that would be great. So that vibration, Lada, it goes like a wave, and each wave is the soul, the light of God. And these waves go around the whole universe. Becomes a life, dies. Dies the soul? Not. The soul has got this consciousness, awareness, feelings, etc., but no physical body. Now this soul is fluttering on the waves of time around the whole universe. Sometimes, through the happiness, light, darkness, and again, continue the journey. We are sitting here, we met happily. Who knows who will take off again, separated, gone? Which side gone? Then we can’t do anything. Now we can do something. We call the... Ambulance, we go to hospital, we get treatment, but there is no ambulance. Everything is your destiny, what you did, good and bad. Temporarily, you think you are happy, but this karma, what you do, it will not let you free. You got the guru blessings. Blessing will remain always, but what you did negatively towards that’s your guru. That will close your doors. So it doesn’t matter who your guru is, the professor. You should be thankful because your professor taught you medical science for five years. And your whole family is surviving because you are a doctor and earning money. First, thanks goes to your guru, the professor. So, humans should be thankful. Where there is no thankfulness, it is not a human. Even we say, "Hey, Holy Mother Maria, we pray for thy divine mercy." This is a mantra for Christians. Holy Mother Maria, pray for thy mercy. So even that we pray to Jesus, and Jesus’ prayer is also to God for those who are in ignorance. But we cannot be in ignorance, life after life. Wake up. Wake up. So, this individual soul is around our earth like a fog. All creatures, the human, can become again some other animal. Maybe someone from them becomes a human. You have no permanent certificate to be a human. Except one. We do good things. We pray. We get blessings. From any priest who is working for the name of God. That priest does not make dualities about other religions. You call priest, we call paṇḍit. You call monk, we call swāmīs. You call the pope, we call the Śaṅkarācārya. So, things are the same. Problem is language and power. We are the best. But when you go, there is only one door to go to the higher. Everyone has to go through that door, either king or beggar, sinner or the holy—one gate. That’s called death. Then, which direction they will take you, they have the chart. So I taught today in Mantra Dīkṣā: this mālā which is around your neck, this mālā is constantly scanning your energy, your thoughts. All good and bad, what you eat, what you drink, everything is scanned in this mālā. And this mālā is representing a light, so whenever the negative energy is coming, this is scanned out, the darkness, and the light comes in. When we will come to the highest door. This mala will be there for you, waiting. That is your passport. If someone says there, it’s not yours. I will be sitting there. My signature, please. So, you cannot destroy. Now, there are two immortals. One is the ātmā, and the other is immortal. God is immortal. So, Ātmā is immortal. And now, the second one is born. That’s called the plastic. The plastic is immortal. You see? You see how strong plastic is. So there are two energies: Āsurī Śakti and Devī Śakti. The Devī Śakti is the divine. But for distraction, Āsurī Śakti. Plastic is Āsurī Śakti. In the plastic, there is how much ambition there. In our blood, it’s already plastic. So, when the Asurīśakti awakes, then Devīśakti is going far away. So, in the Kali Yuga, it is more Asurī Śakti than Devīk Śakti. And we don’t know who is Aśura. People try to take the drugs. Young generations, just try. Just try, and then they are caught by this drug. So, like this, we are caught by āsurī śakti. And that is a dangerous thing now, so we all should pray. We should work for world peace, and we should do good things. If someone has done something wrong, you should pray for that person. To support: one alcoholic person lying on the road, and everybody said, "Oh, that alcoholic, oh, alcoholic." And one comes and says, "Friend, come, I will help you." You see, so there are fewer people now who can help you. Don’t say, "Don’t drink alcohol." Don’t ask them, don’t drink. Ask their very sensitive point. Why do you drink alcohol? Since I lost my wife, I’m unhappy, so when I drink alcohol, oh, I forget my wife. Oh, the wife is the cause of that. So, they did not begin to drink alcohol just for fun. Someone has a problem, and the problem has a cause. And if we can solve the cause, this problem can be solved. Therefore, we shall work for the good things in the world. Who makes the mistake, we shall forgive them. We pray to God. Pray to Merciful Mother. Tomorrow is the declared World Peace Day. That’s great, and we shall have prayer tomorrow. If someone comes and says, "What are you doing? Are you angry with us?" You should not be angry. He says, "Well, we are here for world peace." And it’s nice that you came. Join us so you can bring the message. Now, there are many different ways. You can send in your Facebook, or any book, my World Peace message. Read, please—someone, you can read it. So you must write, record it, or you will forget it. I will read in English, and then I will translate, or just in... Croatian first, English. There are many English sitting here. World peace is possible only when all religions and political leaders of this globe practice tolerance, recognition, and respect for all other cultures, traditions, languages, races, nationalities, and religions. Their prime duty is to guide humanity towards forgiveness and brotherhood, and to preach that we are all children of one God. There is only one religion to which we all belong on this earth, humanity. Give them time to write. Shall I read it once more in English? World peace is possible only when all religious and political leaders of this globe practice tolerance, recognition, and respect for all other cultures, traditions, languages, races, nationalities, and religions. Their prime duty is to guide humanity toward forgiveness and brotherhood. And preach that we are all children of one God. There is only one religion to which we all belong on this earth, humanity. Their main task is to lead humanity towards forgiveness and brotherhood and to preach that we are all children of one God. There is only one religion that we all belong to in this world, humanity. Once again in Croatia. Now the question is whether to translate in the same way. World peace is possible only when all religious and political leaders of this world practice tolerance and respect for all other cultures, traditions, languages, races, nationalities, and religions. Their basic task is to lead humanity towards forgiveness and brotherhood and to preach that we are all children of one God. There is only one religion that we all belong to on this earth: humanity. Free hands, everyone can send to your friends. Only I don’t have Facebook, but my Facebook is great. All of you, happiness.
