YOGA - a Path to Non-Violence and World Peace

Yoga is a path of non-violence, truth, and inner change that becomes one's religion—a connection to life. Real yoga is compassionate action, not mere talk. We often live like kings, for whom no kingdom is enough, yet we must learn the sharing spirit of fakirs. Truthfulness is essential; peace comes only when our feelings, thoughts, and actions align in harmony. Many live unconsciously, but grace can awaken us to non-violence, beginning with vegetarianism. Change starts within oneself. "Be the change you want to see." "Yoga is union, reunion."

Filming location: Jadan, Rajasthan, India

Part 1: The Path of Yoga: Reflections on Non-Violence, Truth, and Inner Change Respected Viśvagurujī, Dr. Narendrajī, Bhavajin, dear friends. In the last days, we have all consumed rich and tasty food—food in the forms of wisdom, words, sayings, and good stories. I learned one very important thing: when you are not prepared, keep your mobile with you. I can assure you, there is no picture of my wife on it. But for someone who may ask, "How can he manage this?"—actually, there is a picture of Gurudev. In that way, I learned something these days: to keep it always ready. Non-violence is a form that accompanies us through the day, through the hours, through every second of our breath. There are traditions where a disciple is allowed, only after ten years of being with his master, to start to talk, to give something of his experience, some lecture. As Viśvagurujī said yesterday, there are masters who, after ten years, start to talk only one word. So I am eligible to talk double time. But actually, I came to the conclusion that it is better to keep one’s mouth shut sometimes and to act, because real yoga means action with compassion. Yoga becomes a part of one’s life, a way how to live, and with some people it becomes even a religion. Religion, in the best original sense—religare—means to connect. In some interesting way, it also became my religion. Without the too-heavy shoes that we walk around, that is institutional and many, many rules and regulations, I applied for a visa. I do not want to tell you the name of the country, and there was one rubric. What was written? "Religion, which type of? Religion you belong?" I opened the box, and there were all the religions listed up, what at present in human presence are. I scrolled through. Christianity did not fit anymore. Hinduism also did not. So there was one part that was written "others," so I clicked on others. I wanted to open the next page, but it did not allow me because I did not specify. It seems "others" was not enough. So I tried again and again because I thought it is maybe a mistake or something, but no success. You had to fill in something, so I filled in yoga, and to my surprise, that babu who was sitting inside said, "Yes, continue." In that way, yoga became my religion. In India, there is a saying that very much guides me through many years. It says: seven fakīrīs, yogīs, or sādhus can sleep under one blanket. But for a king, not even a kingdom is big enough. It shows, actually, that dilemma which we are facing since civilization started, and it leads through the whole history of mankind. Try it by yourself. Start with your partner with one blanket. After a few days, you will see what will happen. We are all kings in some ways—kings in our home, in our work. And even then, the kingdom is not big enough. We always strive for more. We have to be fakīrīs, we have to be saints. Fakīrī, svědci, to share in a proper way, because all our trouble starts with me, mine, and not mine. So one very small thing we can practice, but it actually seems so simple, yet it is so difficult, and what yoga teaches us in so many different ways is truthfulness. Truthfulness in so many different small, small ways. Just think about oneself: how many times we feel something, we think something different. We express it in a different way, we talk in a different way, and we act in a different way. Every time when we can translate what we feel into action, there is a break, a crack. We can get only peace, harmony, happiness, contentment, and satisfaction when we start to align our all, our beings, what we express in different ways, into one harmonious circle. And that is yoga—union, reunion. We had a lot of good and delicious food the last few days. And you know, it is very important to find the proper time to digest. Otherwise, either constipation or diarrhea. I want to conclude with a picture of one Sufi saint who said that it is very important that you find time for yourself, and the best way is that you close yourself in a closet. For the next seven days, make sure you have some friends who provide you with some food, sandwiches. Do not bring in any TV, any newspaper, nothing, and then see what happens. Thank you very much. I hope you will enjoy the food that will come. Tathāṁ Gurudev, Hari Om dear friends. Hari Om, dear friends. I will not say the dignitaries, because when we say VIP dignitaries or something like this, we make walls. And I will not say, "Dear relatives," because when we say something like that, we build walls. But dear friends, what we learned here in these three days was something, that we are really living in a special world. We all know about the book Līlā Amṛt. And always, when we read such books, we think it was for some other in the past. But now we are living in this modern world, which is very hard and without magic and without beauty. But if we look at our lives, we are really living in a magical life. Your friends around you, how they are living. They are living like zombies. All the world around us is living really like a zombie. And only a few people on this earth are screaming, "Wake up, wake up, my friends." And in such places, satsaṅgs, ashrams, and conferences, we are alive. We are living, we are in such a consciousness. But usually we are on the sofa with an empty box. Some of you know what the empty box is. They say that men have a brain where everything is in some boxes, and we have one speciality, like a man, to have an empty box. When we have a problem, we are in the empty box. Nothing. Just a zombie. But look what we have done in our life. But only through the grace of the divine, through the grace of Gurudev, we talk about non-violence and peace, and we always start some big thoughts about this. But something that is for us completely normal, but in our Western world and now on the earth is not normal, is to be vegetarian. Imagine, I always try to remember myself before I became vegetarian. That was completely unconscious. We were doing this, we were eating meat, and for us it was completely normal to do this. We were on Earth, living in complete amnesia. We do not know about this, and we think that it is normal. And in one moment, Guru Tattva came and opened our eyes. And in one moment, we realized what Ahiṃsā means. And only to be vegetarian, it is enough for this life. Because you do not kill anybody, nobody suffers because of your food. And that is the first step. It is very easy to be maybe friendly with people because it is your kind. But people lose love and compassion for animals. If you talk about ecology and how to survive on this planet, yoga is the way. First, because they teach us how to become vegetarian again. We talk about India, but also we must know that that knowledge which is in India was before everywhere on the earth. Ancestors always talk: "Do not harm anybody." Ancestors’ religion and belief was that earth is not possible to get earth. You just borrow the land. You borrow everything on this planet. You are just in the hotel, and when you go, try to put everything in that hotel in the same, even better way. And that is the Sanātana Dharma. Try in our life to keep that magic awareness that our life is really a beautiful life because we have the opportunity to open your eyes and see the real world around us. We are living in magic because we are with such great souls on this earth, which is the aim. Like Swāmījī, the aim is to wake up all people and to gain real knowledge. And only through knowledge will we have peace and bliss in this world. Thank you. My praṇām to all gurujīs here. It was a wonderful conference we had. I am really delighted to see so many enlightened people here. Because it is very important for us to see people who are practicing, not preaching. Because there is a saying in India, whenever we ask people, "Do you practice yoga?" they say, "Yoga? Yoga is there in my blood." So it will remain in their blood from their childhood to adulthood to elderly age. And it will die with them. So what is important is to bring that, what is there in your blood, to bring it out. What I have learned is, it is not important to have something in your blood and in your genes, but it is important to adopt it when it is required. And this conference really opened my eyes to the fact that there are so many people, there is no barrier, and you all have adopted yoga in your daily life. I had one friend. When I asked him, similarly, "You have been doing yoga regularly," he said, "Yes, I am doing yoga." But he was putting on weight regularly. Then I thought, if you are doing yoga, you should not put on weight. One day, I went to his house at six in the morning. I went to his bedroom; he was sleeping very nicely. Then I really got angry, and I said, "You lied to me. You said you are doing yoga regularly, and you are sleeping." Then, in that sleepy body, he said, "No, no... Don’t worry, don’t get excited. Come," he took me. In the other room, there was one man who was doing yoga. So he said, "This is the era of outsourcing." Outsourcing. So I have outsourced yoga to him. So, daily morning he will come, do yoga, and go. So, we can use the world the way we want to progress. So, this place has really made me feel very happy that there is no outsourcing, there is inner sourcing. So this is one message I am carrying from this conference. And I have to really thank the organizers for really making our stay very comfortable here. Hospitality was wonderful, and Swamiji’s blessings were there all through. I am highly, highly blessed today to be amongst such great yogīs, and this conference gave me that opportunity. Thank you very much. Your Holiness Viśwa Gurujī, distinguished guests, brothers and sisters, my honor is to summarize some of the main activities in the network of Yoga and Daily Life. So, as most of you know, Yoga in Daily Life is active all over the world. Our home center is in Jadan, Pali district in Rajasthan. But also a center which is influencing the western part of the world is Vienna, with very important subsidiaries to say in WEB and Strelka especially. When I mention all over the world, I will not count the number of countries where the centres are, because we are active in all the different locations and places, starting from our own places where we are having the Ashrams, through the schools, somewhere even in working with the disabled people or in jails, so all the different locations we are using for our activities. The biggest number of the locations is actually connected to the history of Swāmījī arriving to Europe. I will not stress, especially the Czech Republic and Slovakia, although we are impressed with the number of locations here, but mainly the Middle European countries, including Southern European countries, are the biggest network. Then we spread all over the world. The largest number of these centers is generally in Central Europe and Southern Europe, and since then it has spread all over the world. And then the other continents are India and Australia. Of course, India is always the wishful target, where we all are trying to visit our ashrams at least once a year. And I do believe that you will agree that when we quit Europe and enter our ashrams, or even when we enter India, we are completely relaxed and out of our daily life. We are acting in the Western world with the lessons in yoga through more than 1,200 active instructors, and some hundreds, or a little bit more than hundreds, are not active. And, of course, the active instructors or teachers are working together with the assistants. Because the preparation for the teacher lasts three years, the certificate for yoga instructor is issued by yoga daily life organizations. We consider as our special activity, which is more connected to spirituality than only daily life, those are the satsaṅgs, which we are having once a week, usually on Saturday or Sunday. We are informed, we are singing bhajans, and we are having the lectures. And just a few words on some of the main projects. Although you have heard and read that we have Jadan School, Śrī Viśvadīp Gurukul, and then the Gyān Putra project, we are proud that one of our disciples from Croatia, Dr. Lakṣmaṇ Purījī is one of the leaders of this Jñāna Putra project. And recently, a special question, when Swāmījī was visiting Croatia, was concentrated on this question. Gyan Putra will explain what it is, because in Croatia it is not known. We are proud that Jan Putra Lakshman Puli is one of the leaders of this project from Croatia. And when we were in Croatia, he gave us a lot of emphasis on this project, because we do not know much about it in Croatia. Then there is our project of desert rainwater harvesting. Recently, I have seen somewhere in Jadan the old photos of Swāmījī, where he visited today’s Prime Minister Narendra Modi, discussing our projects. In Jadan, there is also the Sri Swami Madhavānanda Austria Hospital. The biggest Omāśram project you are aware of. Then we are active in preserving ancient handicrafts. And I will stress again the support of the people below the poverty line and the handicapped. And then I would like to emphasize the support of people who live under the border of poverty and disabled people. Thank you for your attention. I will not continue, because we could talk the whole satsaṅg or the whole lecture about our activities. So, thank you very much for your attention. Dear ones, dear brothers and sisters, when I should tell a few words about our three days, I feel that there is a new time beginning, and there is not so much power on position, on hierarchy, on clothes and titles, because usually these church authorities—we were stars in the world religious parliaments, and this time, our people, we practitioners from down, and we who wish, who love wisdom, second part. I would like to greet you all, dear brothers and sisters, and I would like to say that I am very glad. If I were to sum up the three-day conference, I am very glad to see that it is really without any hierarchy, sticking to titles, and so on. As we were used to in various church gatherings, it is really an initiative that comes from below, from people who practice. Second, I recognized that great power is coming not only from the blood, because often we remember India as the birthplace of holy masters, but somehow I feel these days that there is great power coming from India, action power and also young people power. And then I would also like to say that, from my point of view, it shows that it is not only about what is in the blood, because we all know India as the birthplace of spiritual beings and saints, but also that great energy is coming from young people from India. So, because we are also involved in many projects, it is now a good time to catch a chance and see three times in one. Not only look to the past, but to the present and also to the future. Because I felt all these days, as all of you, that we were blessed ones, with all masters, especially our gurudevas, so somehow I feel that it is coming, uh, follow as follow without effort. So, for example, we already, uh, our professor from university in Piešťany. We visited unexpectedly this morning, and we met a professor from Bangalore, our dear speaker, and also Gurujī. It happened that we began also projects or visited Bangalore during their conference, 567, as I remember, so we can do some. From there, how it looks at the university, we can somehow share experiences and help Střílky and Yoga in Daily Life and all of you to spread and materialize all these nice projects we spoke of, to run an Ayurvedic and yogic center here and research. So, somehow, like this is the future. So it is really amazing that now is the opportunity to use the energy that is here to make different projects. There are situations that one would not expect. For example, Professor Zpiešťan came to the lecture today, and our professor and future speaker from Bangalore, so it is possible to talk about various cooperation. Maybe we will record some document at the university in Bangalore. So I again thank you very much for the invitation. I again thank you for all your fruitful work during the last years, and what I could help, I will help. Thank you, Swamiji, for bringing us here from International Day of Yoga to International Day of Non-Violence. And Swamiji rightly said that yoga alone can bring non-violence. Non-violence is part of yoga, ahiṃsā. And our Mahātma Gāndhījī brought out this dimension in our country to bring freedom to India in a very unique way. From this International Day of Non-Violence, what is next? In January, we have an international conference on holistic health to bring the best of all systems available today to bring health to people, for prevention, promotion of positive health, and to deal with modern ailments, January 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th in our Prasanthi Kuteeram campus, and it is here that we are going to have it as a launchpad to bring the holistic vision of yoga for the health scenario. And we have Dr. Kashinath from Manchester, a great diabetic expert, and many, many top experts in the country and all over the world are coming to share their wisdom as to how yoga can become a platform on which we build this new mansion of holistic health. And our Prime Minister Narendra Modi ji will be inaugurating that, and we will be very delighted to have Swamiji. He has agreed to join us, and I invite all of you to join hands and see that this becomes a next wonderful day of launch of the applications of yoga to bring new aspects of prevention, promotion of positive health in the health scenario. With this, once again I congratulate Swāmījī for making such a wonderful event in the UNO Hall and more here in the Sarsham, in the serene, wonderful atmosphere. And that is what yoga can do, to bring people from all over the world to take up yoga in their daily life. And this is what Yoga Daily Life has been doing. And once again, congratulations to all the team who made this such a wonderful event. And thank you. I will shorten it, because the microphone did not work before. So we came here to talk about yoga as a way to peace and non-violence. And I must say that yoga is a foundation that allows us to go in this direction. I am very glad that, thanks to Viśwa Gurujī and the organizers, we had the opportunity to attend this conference that spoke on this topic and showed us how we can devote ourselves to it. I am also very glad that we have in this support the Prime Minister of India, Mr. Modiji joined us, and I am glad that you join us in this effort to revive yoga and enable its practical application as a way to peace and non-violence. Beloved Gurudev, dear guests, brothers and sisters. We spent a few beautiful days in this part of the world. Actually, when one is summarizing what was said in these days, one can see that the world, that everything is okay. The world is moving in cycles which have come from immemorial times, and they will go further into immemorial times, yugas, yugas which are transforming into kalpas, and so life is going on. That the world is moving in such cycles, and from this we can see that everything is in order. Because we are moving in yugas, and now we are in some modern time, and we are returning to the ancient times. Gurudev is teaching us that there is always a struggle between the light and the darkness. This happened in Satya Yuga, Tretā Yuga, Dvāpara Yuga. And it is happening now, very intensively. On one side, we have the power which wants to grab everything that belongs to this world, that belongs, that is the existence of this world. And on the other side, we have the protectors of the light, which is embodied in the saints, in the living saints. I believe that peace in this world is not possible to achieve so long as the saints do not again rule this world. I am talking about the saints, the realized ones, Brahma Jñānīs, Ātma Jñānīs. Because it does not matter who is guiding this world, he is guiding the world at this level, the physical level. But the saint is going far above, far beyond the world, the physical world. He knows where to step so that we will safely pass through these lives. We can see here what happened in these few years when Gurudev came from India, what happened with all of us. We know how we were living our lives just a few years back and how we are living life now. We are very lucky that we are followers and that we are protected and guided by the great saint Viśwa Gurujī Mahāmaḍśar Parāṇāth Svāmī Maheśvarī. But luckily, he is not alone; there are many more. And maybe the time came that all the saints stepped together, that we all stepped together, and we started to spread this light throughout the world. When the critical mass will be achieved, then the world will change. So as Mahātma Gāndhījī said, be the change you want to see. We are the change. We are changing ourselves. And as we are changing ourselves, other people will also change. And at that time, automatically, peace in the world will come. And we change ourselves, and when we change ourselves, the people around us also automatically change, and thanks to that, the change will come. So, with this I will conclude. Thank you very much. Many salutations to Gurujī. In whose blessing I am here and speaking in front of you. And I know it is a very tough task, but I am sure, with the blessing of Gurujī, I can do it. And the topic is very tough: how to keep harmony in family. So I will start with a story. They used to live as a happy couple in the 70s and married, living happily, married for the last, say, 50, 40, 50 years. None of them had fighting in between them. No quarrel, no arguments, nothing. So someone asked, "Why is there no quarrel, no fighting? We have seen." So what is the secret behind your successful married life? So the husband told the story, which started when we married and we went on our honeymoon in a beautiful valley of mountains. And we were trekking on a horse, two separate horses. My wife was trekking on one horse, and I was trekking on one horse in the mountains. And the horse stepped something wrong, and my wife was about to fall. She said, "It is your first mistake, I will forgive you." And after some time, again, the horse did the same mistake. She said, "It is your second mistake. Again, I am forgiving you." And they went ahead, and the horse repeated it a third time. She stepped out of the horse, opened her purse, took out a pistol, and shot the horse, and said, "It was your third mistake. I cannot forgive you, husband." After seeing this, he shouted, "What did you do? You shot that poor horse on that silly mistake? What is this?" And the husband started shouting, and the wife calmly replied, "It is your first mistake, I will forgive you." So this was the last argument we had in our life. And after that, we never had any argument in life. So anyway, this was a story. But the secret behind a successful life is that you honour a woman. Honor her feelings. Every time we think that it is not our mistake, it is her mistake or the opponent’s, just think calmly, and just if you think that it may be my mistake. And if it is still not your mistake, then, as Gandhi says, it is hard to change someone. The change will start from ourselves, so be the change you want to see. So if we start changing ourselves, the world will start changing, and the same will start within the family. And most of the fight starts with the ego. So, how to kill your ego? The best way is yoga. If we meditate and practice yoga regularly, we will calm ourselves, and there will be no fight in the family. We will start understanding each other. So that is the success of the married life, the family life. Because this woman sees a mother, and that motherhood is the strongest feeling in the world. A cow in a forest starts fighting even with a lion when she is with her calf. And when she is alone, she runs away, she starts fighting, she has a fear of this lion, but when she is with her calf, she fights, so that the courage comes from motherhood. So every living being has this strong feeling of motherhood. And God created this feeling of motherhood to maintain the continuity of life on earth. So let us respect that feeling. And then she is taking good care of this father, that, as Swamījī yesterday said, the mother cannot be a bad mother. So if we start understanding her and we start respecting her, we will have a happy family, and I will start with a Sanskrit śloka. It says, in Sanskrit it is like this: "Yatra nāryastu pūjyante ramante tatra devatāḥ." There lives God. So that is all from me. I need your blessings, blessings of Swāmījī. And thank you, thank you very much. Your Holiness, dear Swāmījī, dear brothers and sisters, these few days filled my heart with pure joy. I now even more understand that the only path forward for the whole world is the path to peace. And this path can also be achieved by following the sustainable development goals in each and every country in this world. And these development goals have now been confirmed by the United Nations. Slovenia will be a pilot country which will map the Sustainable Development Goals into our long-term strategy that we have started to develop. And this is also the reason why our Prime Minister has addressed the conference, not in person but in writing, with the letter that was then read at the conference, and I am very proud of that. Thank you very much for what you gave me, all of you. Thank you. Hari Om. Many, many salutations to Mahāprabhujī. Many salutations to Holī Gurujī and Swamijī, and all respected dignitaries who are sitting over here. Dear yoga friends, Swāmījī has given me the topic: how to earn money without doing anything. And I have to speak this in front of all persons who have renounced their everything, sannyāsīs. So it is very difficult, but I have to speak. So I have several ideas from which you can learn how to earn money without doing anything. The best way is you should not love money like your girlfriend. Part 2: The Path of Dharma, Guru's Grace, and the Unity of Sanātana Dharma One should not pursue money with the obsessive passion of a Romeo for his Juliet. You should not do anything wrong to earn it. You must respect money as you respect your parents. You should develop new ideas and not remain stuck in only one business. If you have one shop, you run it with various projects, yet you are not satisfied. You should have in your mind that you have accomplished one thing and must now move on to the next. You should not be satisfied like a sādhu. As my beloved Gurudev Swami Maheshwaranandaji told me: you will not get what you deserve, but you will get what you negotiate. The most important thing is that if you want, say, 100 euros, you should donate 20 euros for social service. These 20 euros will come back to you as 2,000 euros in the form of blessings from your Gurudeva. I can tell you a very real story. I was very naughty in my childhood. My home was just behind Gurujī’s ashram in Jaipur, India. When I saw the faces of foreigners, I would throw stones at them. Then Gurujī called me and punished me with a stick on my hand. Sometimes he told me, "Go and wash my clothes." He gave me various forms of punishment. But when I grew up, because of his blessings, those stones were converted into dollars. Earlier I was throwing stones; now I am donating dollars. This all happened because of Guru Mahimā. You should not adopt any unethical options to earn money. If you do, you may get the money for some time, but afterwards it will vanish and you will become nothing. Also, there was one great saint, Janakya. He said that conservation of money is the making of money. Saving of money is the making of money. That is all I want to say. If you want to ask any other questions, you can ask me. Money can be earned only by your brain, not from your body, and by the blessings of your Gurudev. If you do not have a Gurudev, you will not have money. Thank you, and Hari Om, and Jai Hind. We are all waiting for someone. When you eat well, still, at the last, something comes on the ice cream ball. That is, in India, we call Bābā, Bābājī. In some countries, Baba means grandmother, but I do not mean that. This is Bābā Jīn. Swāmījī, I thought I would not speak. That is why I asked to speak last, because everything that has to be said has to be said again and again. But now that you have put me here, I have to say something. First of all, from the bottom of my heart, I say thank you, thank you, thank you to each and every one of you. This kind of dedication, selfless dedication and service, is something I wish my Hindu brothers and sisters in India could see. Sometimes we take Sanātana Dharma for granted in India. So I hope that you people will keep visiting back and forth, meeting more and more people in India. Let them see, here, look at Swamiji. Fifty years ago he came. To me, I see you as more the practitioners and observers of Sanātana Dharma than many of my brothers and sisters in India. For that, I bow my head to this great Mahāguru who has been able to create this all over this part of the world. So, Swāmījī, this is to you. I wanted to say something to Sanjivanī Ben yesterday. You said that Michelle Obama practices yoga. I know Bikram, who studied hot yoga, but that is very different. It has nothing to do with religion, and the essence of Hinduism is what I see here. But there is something else also, Swamiji. Even President Obama carries something sacred to every one of us Hindus. Do you know what that is? He carries a little statue of Hanumānjī in his pocket. In his college days, his roommate was a Hindu, and he was introduced to Hinduism by his friend. How many here carry that? He also, I think, is influenced deeply by Hinduism, by Sanātana Dharma. I mentioned to Nāgendrajī and Swāmījī that I am making a proposal: with Swāmījī’s blessings and Nāgendrajī’s leadership, to have the International Day of Yoga on June 21, 2016, in Washington, D.C., on the Mall outside the White House. My mind is always on the UN. If all the yoga masters can come there, with the close friendship of President Obama—who is my president; I am an American citizen, though I may not look like an American in the typical sense—and with Prime Minister Modi. There is a special bond, a deep trust, a deep friendship between the Indian Prime Minister and the American President. Look at this dedication here. It is remarkable. You do not teach a child that. It just comes from his saṃskāra, right? Kya bhakti hai? This is remarkable. A child gets up like that. Swamiji, kamāl kar diyā. Hats off to you. Really amazing. Toh rahe uṣās nahīṁ kṛṣ ki kiyā udhiyālā hai. Going back to the International Day of Yoga, what I told Nāgendrajī is that if the Indian government, with the Prime Minister’s office, were to initiate it officially through official channels because of the protocols—and Swamiji mentioned protocol yesterday—it is indeed possible to get the White House directly involved. My work is what I call religious diplomacy. We look at geopolitics, see where the interests are between different countries and people, and try to forge and bring them together. America is the world’s superpower, but the world’s spiritual superpower is India. There are deep economic interests, and all collaboration is now actively being pursued by the United States and India. There is now a big trade exchange and a lot of interest. If you go to any department in the US today, Swāmījī, everybody is deeply yearning to learn more about India and Hinduism. They do not know much about Sanātana Dharma, but they want to know more about the Hindus. Your embassy in Washington can be a great conduit to spread that. Two ambassadors in the evening. She is your ambassador, right? I just wanted to propose that. One last thing I want to share struck me in the last two days with the way Saroj Purī and Saroj have taken such wonderful care of me. It shows how much they are dedicated to you. I am sure each one of you has that same feeling and aspiration in the name of the Guru, how they take care of all the guests. I hope I have your permission, Sarojjī, to share something you mentioned this morning, especially in front of your Guru. You are not shy, right? It is okay, I can share. I have your permission? One of the great things I learned in my life was also having a Guru since I was born. She shared with me that she gets very nervous when her Gurudev asks her to get up to speak. So I have just one question. If Swāmījī asks any one of you to get up and speak, will you be nervous, or can you get up and speak? Yes or no? I told you they will all get up and speak. Why? I told her what I learned with Gurujī. I was very shy also, once upon a time. So, Swamiji Guruji, when he asked me, I would tell him, "Guruji, this is this, and this is this." He said, "Get up and speak." I said, "No, no, I cannot, I am very shy," just like her. He just said two things to me: What is it for? Who is it for? If you are for yourself, it is in your ego; then you can be nervous, you can have hesitation, you can build blocks. When it is for you personally, it is actually only for the ego, and then there can be different fears and walls. But Gurujī is in each of you. He also wants to see that these are the conduits whom I have taught, and they can also share that message with everybody else in the world. Right? Že jo. So you all believe that. Tomu věříte. So why hesitate? Why be shy? It is not for yourself; it is for your Guru. It is to bring their teachings all over the world so people can also benefit. Swamiji, I think each one of the batteries is fully charged. They are ready to go out from this beautiful place and spread the teachings to all corners of the world. So I will end there. Are you ready? That is a very weak yes. Are you ready? Yes. Thank you. For what are you ready? One comes and talks about wives, you also say yes. One tells about shooting the horse, he said yes, and now the other one said, "No, it is not." Oh, my God, you see how the speakers can manipulate. It is tradition, culture, and respect. Even in Europe, when grown people are talking, children should not speak in between. Even when you ask children to tell something, they say no. But as soon as parents go to another room, then they create histories. So it is a respect not to talk too much in front of great personalities or masters or parents, in front of people. So, thank you, Bābā Jain. We can only talk so closely if we love and have trust. A best friend you can only test in your time of difficulty, to see if your friend is for you more than before. Your dharma also helps you when you are really in need. And your partner also; the best partner will not count the mistakes, as our Satyavrata said. No? So that is peace, tolerance, and non-violence. All our speakers were perfect. It was not boring. We all got many new ideas, and I do not know what happened. Many things happened. Since we were in the United Nations Hall, I am also keeping two telephones. So, our dear brother Swapnil, the floor is yours. I will not be able to speak since my wife is not there. Swami Jī has asked me to sum up this conference. I would just like to say that it is difficult to sum up because this is just a beginning. I would again say that pregnancy cannot be measured; it can just be felt. Happiness cannot be measured; it can just be felt. And grace cannot be measured; it can just be felt when we are with Swamijī. Lastly, I would like to say one more thing: I have found a new family. All of us are extended family; all of us are one big family spread around different parts of the world, and we have the divine blessings of Viśvajrojī. Thank you so much. Deepa Jyoti Parabrahma Deepam Sarve Mohanam Deepanam Sajjate Sarvam Sandhya Deepam Sarav Satyam Brahmanandam Param Sukhadam Kevalam Jnanam Uratim Dvandatitam Gagan Sadrasham Tasmasyadi Laksham Ekam Nityam Vimalachalam Sarvaddhisakshibhutam Bhavatītaṁ Triguṇarahitaṁ Satgurutvaṁ Namāmyaham. Oṁ Śāntiḥ, Śāntiḥ, Śāntiḥ. Our salutation to the cosmic light, which is within all of us. Our adoration to our Satgurujī, of the Ālagpurījī Siddhāpīṭha Paramparā. About Ālagpurījī, you can read in the Mahāśiva Purāṇa. Ālagpurījī was a great saint, a ṛṣi incarnation, residing—or still residing—between Kedārnāth and Badrīnāth. In the Mahāśiva Purāṇa, it is written that it was indeed a time of Śiva, Satyuga. The path from Badrināth goes towards Nīlakaṇṭha Mountain. There comes Satopāṭha. Satopāṭha is a lake, a beautiful lake. Several times a year, Brahmā, Viṣṇu, and Śiva, all three, bathe there. They also go on holidays at different times, and at that time, no other ceremonies or rituals are performed. The priest, the Pujārī, is named Rauljī. Raul is like a king, coming from South India. After the winter, he opens the temple of Śrī Badrināth. Before they go, when winter comes and everything is very cold, they close the temple, and that priest lights one deep flame. After four months, when he comes back, the flame is still there. No one has entered inside. When the Pāṇḍavas, after the Mahābhārata, decided to go to Svarga Loka (heaven or Brahma Loka), the five Pāṇḍavas, Draupadī, and one dog were heading towards the Himalayas. There is a place called Svarga Rohiṇī after the Satopāṭha. Svarga Rohiṇī means the stairs to heaven. The four brothers could not manage, and Draupadī also could not manage. They died on the way. Only Yudhiṣṭhira and the dog remained. He came to Svarga Rohiṇī. There came two messengers, like soldiers. They said, "Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira, O King Dharmarāja Yudhiṣṭhira, your time has come, and now we have come to take you back to your kingdom." They brought a chariot, which we nowadays call a balloon—a big balloon. You sit in the basket and go over the side signal. Yudhiṣṭhira was going to sit in, and his dog also came. The messenger said, "No, dogs are not allowed." Yudhiṣṭhira got out. "If my dog is not allowed, I quit heaven if duality is there because he is a dog. He is my very loyal friend." They said, "But we have to get permission." At that time, the dog changed into Dharmarāja, the king. "Until the last step of Yudhiṣṭhira on this earth, I was observing him. That is how correct he was. He always followed the Dharma, no matter what happened. Even he had to sell his brothers, his wife, and he was sold by himself too because of the Dharma, the words, the promise." Protect your dharma, and dharma will protect you. And dharma is that when once you said yes, then it is for a lifelong yes. That is why these two couples, for 60 years, did not have any quarrels, as our Satyavrata told in his lecture. Before the Pāṇḍavas went there, they had to have a darśana of Ālakapurījī. There was an eclipse, or a very big hole between two rocks, and they could not cross. So Bhīma brought a big rock and placed it between the two so they could walk. That was the first bridge in the world after the Rām Setu. And still there is a beam; the Setu is there. When you go to Satopāṭha and Ālagpurījī and Devpurījī’s cave, you have to walk through that. I do believe Yudhiṣṭhira managed to have a darśan of Ālakapurījī. Besides, there is what is called Śāstradhārā. Śāstradhārā means a thousand waterfalls from one mountain onto a big rock. These are the Sahasradhārā and Sahasrāra chakras of Śiva. Through his hair, water falls there. The beauty of that area is indescribable. Physically, I have not been there. I would like to go, but the time will come. Dr. Shanti went several times there, and she researched and found both caves of Ālagpurījī and Devpurījī. So Ālak Purījī is still in that current śarīra, in an astral body—transparent, able to go through rock, but very rare are those who can see him. He is with us, within us. As Dr. Neal said, "He has no form, neither he nor she. He has no eyes, but he sees us. He has no mouth, but he speaks to us." Such are the Siddhas in the Himalayas. One side is called Svargarohiṇī, and the other side is called Ālakapurī Tāl, Velī. There is also a village called Alakāpurī. From there, the river begins. One small river creek is called Sarasvatī. That river which begins there is called Alaknandā. Alaknandā comes to Badrinath, and the Gangotri Ganga comes from the other side, from Kedarnath. These are the holy rivers; then come Mandākinī—these three rivers. When Alaknandā and Bhagīrathī—the Ganga is known as Bhagīrathī; Bhagīratha was a great saint, a ṛṣi who brought the Gaṅgā from Brahmaloka and gave it to Śiva; the story is long—when Alaknandā and Bhagīrathī meet together, that place is called Dev Prayāg. Prayāg means "union." Dev means God. The union, meeting, or oneness of God is. Please make a connection in your notes and books: there is no semi-god. God is God. It cannot be semi-god. There is a big fire, like a volcano, and a small fire, like this flame. Fire is fire. Someone wrote the word "semi-god," and this is a big mistake. Someone did it out of selfishness. That created only one word and created a lot of dispute. The first god, or who manifested himself, Swayambhu, is Śiva. And they also call Śiva a semi-god. The triśūla is here. If they tell, the triśūla will take their knowledge or ignorance away. When the Bhagīrathī and Alaknandā, both rivers, meet together, then the complete Gaṅgā is formed. After a very short time, it meets the Mandākinī. That is called the Trikuṭī. Trikuṭī means three meet together. In yoga we say Iḍā, Piṅgalā, and Suṣumnā—Trikuṭī, Bṛkuṭī. This is Saṅgam, three Saṅgams. It becomes the mighty river Gaṅgā. So, Ālak Purījī met Dev Purījī in this century, last century. He attained all that one can think of, whatever he can do. There is much evidence that Devpurījī could walk on water. Devpurījī could walk above the earth. Devpurījī could go through rock, and that was a blessing of Ālakapurījī. So it is called the Śiva Svarūpa, like an incarnation of Śiva. This is our paramparā, our spiritual lineage. Those who have heard and received these names, mantras, bhajans, and information, we are all rooted in Ālagpurījī’s paramparā. It is called the Ālagpurījī Siddha Pīṭha Paramparā. This is Siddha Pīṭha, like we have Śaṅkarācārya Siddha Pīṭha. This Ālagpurījī Siddha Pīṭha Paramparā is divided into two parts, as Śaṅkara, Mount Kailāśa, and so Ādi Guru Bhagavān Śaṅkarācārya. Śaṅkarācārya was incarnated in South India, three and a half hours driving from Bangalore, the birthplace of Śaṅkarācārya. There is a seat called Saṅgherī Maṭh near Mysore, where there is one of the best forests of sandalwood. Now the government of India has banned it; no one should cut or destroy the sandalwood. Saṅgherī Maṭh is such that our paramparā, Purī—we are all Purīs—are belonging or connected to the Saṅgherī Maṭh. My mālā was given by Śaṅkarācārya to Gurujī. I was with Gurujī there in 1966, in January. Gurujī gave me this mālā, so this mālā is still with me. This mālā has a specialty. I gave a new thread to put inside in Haridwar to someone. His father saw this and immediately put it in the treasury, locked it in the safe, because this mālā is very rare. But you all got the blessing of this mālā. You have a mālā, and this mālā is different; it is a seed inside. Anyhow, it is a blessing of those ṛṣis, and we are disciples of that great incarnation, which Ālakpurījī still is. They are with us, and all who come to the center of this Siddha Pīṭha immediately have their consciousness connecting there near Kedāranāth, Badrināth, Ālakāpurītāl—the valley of Ālakpurījī. Above that is a village, the highest village in the world, called Mana. From there is the border between India and China, meaning the province of China, Tibet. But it was the kingdom of Śiva. The whole Himalaya is the kingdom of Śiva. Also, that Śiva—there was another king; every king was known as a Śiva—that king’s daughter had two daughters. One was Gaṅgā, and the second was Pārvatī. Pārvatī means the queen, the king or the queen, or the prince or the princess of the mountain, Pārvatī. It does not matter though. Even they said Himalaya is the youngest mountain; one of the youngest mountains is Himalaya. But Yogesh said, "No, the youngest one is in Jadan. We made a mountain. You have to go by car to the top. There were no mountains." Yogesh made a big mountain. Anyhow, my dear, what we wanted to do was that we should unite, but we should unite to that path which is called a highway. If you get a footpath, it will go for a while in the jungle or forest and will disappear. Gurujī knows what I said in Hindi. So the highway is that path called Sanātana. And Sanātana Dharma does not mention any name of other gods, any gods. Only that God is the Ātmā, the Self. Jīvātmā is not Ātmā. The jīva is individual. Śaṅkarācārya did not accept this. Jīva is seen as an ātmā; it was not accepted. Jīva has karma; jīva has a destiny. Jīva is individual in the body. But ātmā is not individual. Therefore, that paramparā, that path, brings us to the highest consciousness, the Supreme. Therefore, it is taught and explained in India—it does not matter who is who—that we respect every dharma. You will see in Indian temples and with Indian organizers, they put on one piece of paper the symbol of all dharmas. Bābā Jain is the president or general secretary of the world religions. Ask him: in how many other religious temples do they have the signs of all others? Where was it necessary for Obama to have Hanumanjī in his pocket? He could have Hanumānjī’s mālā. Of course, Hanumānjī himself can manifest as small as possible. How did he go to Lanka? I do not want to call the name of some minister, but here is one. One minister wanted to win the elections, and it was very tough. There was an 85% chance of no hope. He came to me, we were talking, and I gave him a little Gaṇeśjī. I said, "Whenever you give his peace, hold Gaṇeśjī, and always adore Gaṇeśjī." And he won with the highest votes. Anichka knows this. No, Anna? Yes. So there is power, blessings in everyone. Our aim for this conference is non-violence and peace, which yoga can bring. You believe what you believe. But yoga does not ask you to marry this lady or not marry that lady. Yoga does not say. It is your choice. So if you practice this yoga or that yoga, the main thing is you should practice yoga. Now, there are 200 apples in one basket, and there is only one organic apple. Which is the right one? That is a challenge nowadays, to get the right one. That is what Modiji, as well as our Dr. Nagendrajī, would like to bring: the reality and real yoga. Some people said Swamiji only left his side three times to inhale and exhale for a few minutes. Do you think it will function? I said, "Yes." No, I do not believe. The tablet is very little, but it can give you diarrhea within half an hour. Where there is power, there is quality. Quality has no compromise. Where there is quality, there is no compromise, no tolerance. Therefore, yoga has become nowadays like a commercial. They give many different names, and they go to India or go on some beach for 15 days or 10 days for a retreat, and come back with a yoga certificate. What will they teach? "Yoga in Daily Life" takes three years. Then you can ask, "Can I become a yoga teacher?" We have a long list you have to learn, and after one or two years, you may get a diploma. So we want to have quality under such a divine energy of great saints. Nowadays, many people say we do not need an Indian guru. Yes, okay, how long? Ultimately, you have to come there. So, knowledge is a guru, neither Indian nor Western. That is the supreme, the highest knowledge of Brahman. That is the knowledge. So, my dear, we shall see equalness, oneness. Renunciation, and our aim is service, seva. Our motto is: we do care. We have many different organizations for the protection of different creatures, forests, water, etc. We have an organization, Save the Birds. It means also the bees. Can we imagine one day there will be no bees and no honey? I would ask Nagendraji, where he will meet earlier than me, Modiji. If Modijī can make a few words or one speech or do something to save the bees. In some countries, bees died completely, and they bought bees from other countries. Pesticide is killing all the creatures, and that is the cause of cancer. I do believe that world rulers, people, dignitaries, should think of the honey. Thank you, all our dear brothers and sisters. They gave fantastic, wonderful thoughts and knowledge. I found it was not boring. It does not matter how it was; everyone was, their stomach was full, their stomach was laughing. Only they can bring the word of peace, tolerance, and non-violence. I am looking forward to the next one, and I invite you only today. I have more than fifteen conferences every year. We are experts now; for us to organize a conference is just like eating chapati, which is not easy to get here. I am always international. So anytime we can have a conference, and I am sure, without you, what will I do sitting in this big hall? Thank you for coming, thank you for helping and practicing, and we should become one. We are not separating; we are uniting. Union. Swapnil is talking about his unions. He has so much masala. Can I tell you one of his masalās? Oh, he has so much masala. When he opens this container, masala goes from India to Africa. So Inka Chutakala, Chutakala. There was one man; he had a toothache. He was eating something, and there was a cavity. Some jīrā—you know what is jīrā? What is a jeera? Kumit. Jeera went into that cavity, and the tooth was so painful. The tongue goes there to take out the jeera. Anything stuck between our teeth, the tongue’s duty is to take it out. The tooth was so painful, mucus inside, and he said to the tongue, "Please do not disturb me." After half a minute, again the tongue goes there against it. "Please do not disturb me." The third time, the tooth says, "Do not disturb me. It will not take even half a minute. In one second, we can destroy you. We are thirty-six, not thirty-two. We have a big union." So Swapnil smiled on his tooth, because they have a union. Nowadays, people are very afraid of unions, especially in India; there are so many unions. So the painful, dispirited tooth said to the tongue, "Do not disturb me. We have a big union." The tongue said, "If I say one wrong word, the whole union will flow out." Śabda. Thank you very much, everyone, for your coming.
