Christmas is the festival of Unity

Christmas reveals the incarnation of love, light, and oneness. Rarely is its true spirit known. Most celebrate without this knowledge, leading to conflict in God's name. True worship respects all religions and incarnations equally, seeing God in everyone. The Hindu tradition exemplifies this by honoring all paths. When we know Jesus as the embodiment of mercy, we cease causing suffering. God is one positive energy known by many names. Our duty is to adore this universal presence.

Festivals exist to cultivate love, kindness, and shared understanding, uniting families and communities. Human fear is profound and diminishes our strength. Spiritual faith, an injection of God, counters this fear and maintains peace. Culture is carried by people and brings joy; we must respect all cultures. The real celebration involves praying for the lonely and serving others, surrendering all actions to God to become instruments of light and peace.

"To worship that Jesus and that Christmas is real worship. If we do not respect others, then they suffer."

"Love unites, and jealousy divides. Love creates harmony, and doubts create fear."

Deep Nārāyaṇa Bhagavān Kī Devadī Dev Deveśvaramā Dev Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavān Satya Sanātan Dhām. Good evening and welcome. This evening is a very special and significant program. This is the period of Christmas. Many of you know about Christmas, but 99.9% we do not know. Even with that 99.9% unknown, we still enjoy it. That one percent which we know changes the whole world and its thinking. Imagine how it would be if we knew one hundred percent of what we currently do not know. Rare people know rare things. Hundreds of thousands of people do not know. We say that when 100,000 people come together, we do not find anyone who truly knows. Among crores, maybe some; among millions, maybe a few; and among billions, perhaps we find one or two. It is said that those who know Kṛṣṇa, then they know what the Bhagavad Gītā is. Those who know the reality of Jesus know what the Bible is. Only the mother knows who the father is. That is it. So, Hari Ānand. The glory of God is endless. God is endless. The glory of God is endless. On the day when we will see God in everyone, when we will adore every God, every religion, every creature, and every country—at that time we will have the knowledge of who was or is Jesus. Sanātana Dharma is the eternal religion, and in Sanātana, all incarnations and all holy saints are equally worshipped. This is the difference between different religions. The Hindu religion has love and devotion for every religion. You will never see in India that someone humiliates a statue of Jesus. But you see, in some other religions, they humiliate other religions’ statues yet call themselves missionaries. They have been working since the end of the Second World War, or the First World War, or from the time the British entered India. They converted people, destroyed Hindu temples and statues, and put in Jesus or the Holy Mary. This is a difference between Hindus and Christians. Religion is not bad. Jesus is great. But people do not have this knowledge, and that is ignorance. That is why in the world there is no peace; there are wars. They are killing each other in the name of God. God does not want this. If God wanted this, then He would not have created others. So, Christmas for us is a message of the spiritual incarnation—the incarnation of love, of light, of peace, of harmony, of oneness, and the incarnation of the remover of sin. It is the incarnation of mercy. So many qualities and names are there. If we know who Jesus is, we will not let anyone in the world suffer or be killed. To worship that Jesus and that Christmas is real worship. If we do not respect others, then they suffer, and selfish people also suffer. Just as we are now suffering without oxygen, let us have some fresh air. Thank you. So, Jesus is within us. Wherever you remember, Jesus will be present in you. Or Kṛṣṇa. According to astrology, Christ and Kṛṣṇa have the same horoscope. So you can say, "Hare Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa." Why not? We support that. In this part of the world, the months of December and January have short days and long nights. We do not know exactly when Jesus was born. When I first came to Australia, it was Christmas Day. I had already been in Europe for about ten years. At that time, from the beginning of November, there was already snow. I experienced a lot of snow and then had enough of it. I said, "Jesus, you were not born in the snow." So He said, "Okay." I said, "On Christmas Day, you can put snow." He listens, so we have less snow. Perhaps I am the guilty one, but I prayed, and He listened to me. Now, Jesus might say, "You are a Hindu. I will not listen to your prayer," but Jesus will never say this. Because it was a prayer from my heart—every year I had a cough and a cold—I asked the merciful Lord Jesus, if you want to leave me for a long time, then remove this cold snow. Jesus said, "OK." But you have to consult, yes? It is not a joke. I said, "What do you mean?" He said that at this time, Śiva stands up in the Himalayas and moves His head like this, spreading all the snow here. So I said, "Śivajī, please, before you stand up, you should dust your hair; otherwise, shave your head." So many bhaktas of Śiva are shaving now. You know, before 1970, you could hardly see anybody here who shaved their whole head. If someone did, it came to one person who was making an advertisement. Yes, many know but have forgotten. That was a superstar actor advertising glue. He saved all his hair, put a little bottle with glue inside, stuck that plastic tube there, and it was perfect. For money, one is ready to cut not only the hair but ready to cut like this. Money comes. I said, "No, I will not do it." Anyhow, now you see people have found that having little hair or shaving the head makes their thoughts and visions very clear. All the heat of the brain is neutralized. It is said in Āyurveda: "Warm legs, soft stomach, and cool head." Do not be afraid to have such a person as a friend because they are very beautiful. If someone is angry with you, they can hold your hair, but when you have nothing, they cannot. A most intelligent person, especially in winter, goes without hair and a cap; their life range increases. Life will be long, the brain will be healthy, and memory will be good. Yes? There are many, many good things. I will not tell all because of Christmas. So, I told Śivajī, please either clean your hair or shave it. Śivajī said to Pārvatī, "Okay, we will dust it if this boy is happy. For some time, let him be happy." So even the snow in the Himalayas lays, not only here. The heat came out from the brain of Śiva before He had good hair, so everything went down. My dear, this is an example, not a reality. Who dares to tell Śiva, "Clean your hair?" And who dares to tell Jesus? But we humans are so selfish because Jesus or Śiva is our father. Sometimes children can play with their parents. So the festival, ceremony, worship, Christmas, or any religious festival is for the sake of love. Love means kindness, friendship, understanding, humbleness, sharing everything, and not being angry, then bringing your friendship back. What a beauty! This is for humans to keep peace and harmony. Otherwise, the most dangerous creature is a human. This spiritual injection the great saint gives us, and this spiritual injection keeps us normal. Spiritual injection means God. Believe in God; otherwise, you are creating sin. You will go to hell. You will come to heaven. We humans have immense fear. We have fear. If you say, "I am not afraid," then you go somewhere and sometimes people tell you in the graveyard, cemetery, there are ghosts. There are no ghosts. One man believed in ghosts. Every day he walked through a big graveyard; it was a peaceful place. One day, an owl in the night was moving somewhere, and he looked but saw nothing. Again, he was walking, and some noise came. He looked. In the subconscious, everyone has fear. Sometimes, definitely in life, one hears something about ghosts. Two or three times a peculiar sound came, but he was not afraid, yet his hair was standing. No matter how strong you are, when a little fear comes, your strength decreases, your power decreases, everything decreases, energy decreases, and fear increases. Suddenly, the owl—oh, God! Now he was trembling. Nothing happened. He said, "Oh, how stupid I am. This was a bird." Then, because of the full moon, a little farther away, a child was crying at midnight or eleven o'clock at night. Why is the man walking there? Maybe his wife was angry with him. Some child again—a child somewhere. Now he was completely gone crazy. And what was it? A cat. On a full moon day, the cat meows like a little child. What I want to tell with this example is that fear in humans is very great. As one becomes aggressive, they have more fear inside. This body energy, which goes through the hair, releases heat from here. Someone has, by nature, no hair till here. So why not all save it? I did it. But my people are guilty, always asking, "Why do you cut hair? Do you have a problem? Have you a mental problem, Swāmījī?" So again, you know, I completely saved that for one month. So, what is the connection with Christmas? If we love God and worship Jesus, all our problems will go away. We will understand what God is, and this means every incarnation, all God. God is God. Everyone in their language has one name: God. So our duty is to adore God. What is God? God is a positive energy. God is that energy which supports us. Our willpower will be stronger. Certain people have awakened some energy in them. We adore them, and after some ages, people will worship that person as a god. Our faith is functioning. There is one story about how one can create faith. Even kings go and come down. Very clever things. One day, a person selling vegetables at the farmer's market—where people have a basket full of vegetables, every farmer comes once a week to sell their products—one, what we call Bahadza, or you call the Sheikh, a Muslim from Turkey who moved to India. That king said, "What is blind belief?" His secretary said, "Do not you believe in blind belief?" "No, I do not believe that all people are so stupid." The secretary said, "Because they are ignorant. And do you think that I can also be like that?" "Of course, you are the first one. Me? Of course. You can kneel down anywhere." "How do you mean, 'anyone'?" He said, "You can even kneel down in the toilet, oh God." When the king and his secretary talk like this, they will tip up the head. So he said, "Go away, do not come here anymore." In that market, the secretary was moving, and there was one lady selling vegetables. She had about a one-and-a-half or two-year-old child. In the middle of the market, the child made a toilet. She had no time to clean, so she put all the leaves of the vegetable on the toilet. He was observing the secretary. When the market finished, people went home. That lady took her child and went home. What did the secretary do? He put a green cloth over it. Someone next came and said, "What is that?" He said, "Allah." Oh, the next man came home, brought a green cloth, and put it on it. By morning, there were about 50 cloths. The next day in the market, everyone said, "Oh, what is that? Kuda came here, the mercy of the Kuda. Allah." They put cloth, they put cloth. In one week, there were many, many cloths over it. The baha’atza heard that there is an Allah. He came with his elephant, horses, and all kinds of functions. They brought a very nice green shawl. He got down from the elephant, and another secretary was holding the cloth, a very expensive green shawl. Baha’u’llah first bowed his knee down, and the secretary came and said, "What are you doing, sir, here?" "I am praying to the Malik, to Allah. Is this not a blind belief?" He said, "Shut up. You are humiliating Allah." "How do you show it? Do not talk to me, go away." "It is a sir, you believe, blind belief." "What do you mean? There is a toilet inside." "What? Yes. Let us move the cloths." They moved the cloth, and the toilet of the child was there; it smelled bad. "Let us go back." So the king said to his secretary, "Thank you very much. I was in blindness." Many times we do not know; we are only doing. We do not know the reality. One man said that he could collect here, within half an hour, thousands of people. "What? Here?" He said, "Yes, in the center of the city." "Well, we will see." He said, "I will tell you after three days." So he came to the center of the city, stood there, and suddenly looked up like this, like this, took the camera, took photos. Another came. "What is that? Do you see? Flying saucers. Flying saucers, look." Another came, another came, the media came. "Yes, yes, flying there." And he left. He was sitting in his house on the fifth floor, in the window, and called his friend: "Can you look in the city center? How many people are there?" My God! All the roads were blocked. There were many, many cameras. In reality, it was nothing. This is how psychologically we can influence people. But that is not correct. Many people manipulate like that. We should never manipulate anyone in the name of God or anything. What you think, you know that you think that nobody knows. But there are two who know just now what you are thinking. One is yourself—what you are thinking, what I am telling. Yes, you know very well. And there is one more, a second one here, who knows everything you are thinking, better than in this room, and that is God. So you cannot hide from yourself, and if we try to hide ourselves, God knows everything. Therefore, if we do not know what God is, then we should not fight in the name of God. Because God will never tell us to fight, there is only one religion: that is humanity. And there is one God, who is the creator of all creatures. So it is beautiful to remember and worship the holy days. New Year? Everyone has a New Year, and the real New Year for us is our birthday. The next day is a New Year, so every day there are New Years, and this is all. What we have here is inspiration for us and education for children, so that children are inspired. This culture keeps the peace. Where there are humans, there is culture. And where there is culture, there are humans. Where humans go, they bring the culture. Culture moves with the humans. So when I came from India, I did not bring culture purposely, but culture came with me. Though I am here more than in India, I still have that culture. And you also go anywhere; you bring your culture. When you come to your culture, how happy you are. You go somewhere in Japan, see one Czech person, and two other Czech people come, and they are talking in the Czech language, and you say also in Czech: "Are you from Czechoslovakia? I know." Immediately, you are so happy, very happy, relaxed. So this is our culture, which makes us happy. And other cultures also make us happy. So we respect the culture; we should not humiliate other cultures. We have today the celebration of Christmas. Because there are many offices and companies, every company has their celebration of Christmas, as on the 24th everyone would like to be at home with family. There are some people, old people, whose children are not here or who have no children. They are in the countryside alone, elderly people. So we pray for them and send our good wishes and blessings of Jesus. Let us be part of them as a family member, mentally. When we are young, hundreds of people are telephoning. But when we will be old and can hardly walk, maybe a telephone will come from one of your children who is in Japan: "Hi, Mom. Wish you a Merry Christmas. Are you okay? Everything is okay? Take care. All the best. Bye-bye." That is all. Next, the telephone will come on a birthday. Slowly, slowly we are separating. So festivals are for remembering and coming home. In the evening, when the sun sets, every bird comes to the nest. Similarly, we should, on particular days, come to our house, our friends, our families. Many children have lost their parents, and they also would like to have a Christmas. So we pray for them, and if we can, we should personally go and give them something. There are some children at home in every country, or on Christmas Day they go to the hospital where elderly or ill people are, give them something, and wish them Merry Christmas. Yes, it will make great that is our humbleness. That is called love, so that love is love, which will bring us closer to God. In the friend of God, we should not be like a proud one. No argument, no dialogue. In the friend of God and Guru, no arguments. When you are doing, then you will get back the fruits. But which kind of fruits? That I will not tell. You cannot open that fruit. It is a coconut, so you can open it here. That coconut is very healthy. And from here, we send love through our heart. So, love unites, and jealousy divides. Love creates harmony, and doubts create fear. When there is pure love, then you are feeling safe. But when there is doubtful love, then it will create many mental illnesses, mental problems, what we call psychic problems. So, whatever happened, we surrender to God. We are human, like all other creatures. So we are also humans. We are not perfect. God is perfect. So we have to surrender to God, and we have to give everything. December ended, January began, and we began our work for the New Year. 365 days are over. We are in December again. How many times did you do good things? How many days have you missed the prayers? How many times have we done wrong things? How many times were we angry? How much we practiced, what we achieved in this one year—one thing we achieved, without any doubt: we achieved one year more of becoming old, yes. So we are one year older, more. But what we have done spiritually, we do not know. So we surrender everything to God, good and bad. Merciful Lord, forgive us our mistakes. We surrender to Thee our all actions, our mind, our body, our soul. We surrender to Thee, and let us be Your instrument, that we can serve Thy holy creation. Lord, wherever I come, may I bring Your blessing in the form of the light. Let me be the light in darkness, so that I can bring this light of wisdom. May no one suffer, and no war, and no fighting. Lord, when will this happen, that on this earth finally there will be peace? We trust in Thee, and we pray to Thee, and please fulfill our wish. That is the best celebration of Christmas. So, thank you, and wish you a happy Christmas. Om Śānti, Śānti, Śānti. Śrī Dīpnalen Bhagavān, Kītse, Devasvar Mahādī, Kītse, Mādhav Kṛṣṇa Bhagavān, Kītse, Sanātana Dharma, Kītse.
