Avoid manipulated products

A satsang discourse on the roots of ill health and the supreme value of spiritual community.

"98% of us do not live healthily. So what shall we expect? Our body is suffering. Our mind is suffering."

"Lucky are those who can come to satsaṅg. And unlucky are those who cannot come. Satsaṅg is so pleasant."

The lecturer addresses the gathering, analyzing modern causes of disease from artificial food and polluted water to the manipulation of animals and crops. He stresses the need for disciplined control of the senses, particularly taste. The discourse culminates in a lengthy parable about the ṛṣis Viśvāmitra and Vasiṣṭha, illustrating through a divine test that the blessings of one minute in satsang are more powerful than 62,000 years of solitary tapasyā (austerities).

Satguru Swāmījī Mahārāj Jī, Mahārāj Jī Kī…. Today we have a surprise, a surprise you still do not know. Our dear Swami Shāntījī has made a beautiful kīrtan about Alagpurījī. She should come to the front, but she has disappeared. Therefore, this afternoon… The first wealth is good health. What do we think about good health? We come back to our health, which is very nice. It is good to know that to live healthy is an art. 98% of us do not live healthily. So what shall we expect? Unser Körper leidet. Our body is suffering. Our mind is suffering. Unsere Psyche leidet. Our mind, our psyche suffers. Und so, zum Beispiel. For example, die Leute hier wohnen, hier in der Stadt. People who live here in the city. Wir haben alles. We have everything. Komfort. Komfort. We have cars, subways, mopeds, motorcycles, everything. At each corner, we can get food and also water. As soon as our mouth is without food for half an hour, we don’t have anything to bite, so we have chewing gum, and it is one of the worst things for our health. We put chewing gum in our mouth, and our whole intestinal system gets a signal. We all know that, I don’t have to repeat that. The intestines are waiting, the stomach is waiting, and hormones are produced, but there is nothing coming. There is the fire, but no fuel, so the fire will burn us. This is one cause of many illnesses in the body. We know how many people have diabetes. When I came to Europe 45 years ago, there were not so many diabetics. Now, every second person in the family has diabetes. Why? Because we have avoided much sugar. We think sugar is so bad. It is bad that we have not gotten it. If we had taken natural sugar, we would not be diabetics. If we had not manipulated the sugar, there would not be any diabetes. So what shall we do? We want to have something sweet, so we buy chemical sugar. Sweetness. And that’s the worst. But our tongue and our gums are spoiled, and that’s the main entrance for the body, what comes into the body. So the disease starts at our mouth. What we eat and what we drink, and there are artificial tastes. And that’s even worse. Again, the information goes into the stomach. Something sweet is coming, but there is nothing. But much insulin is produced, but it doesn’t have anything to digest, so it goes in the wrong direction. So our body doesn’t take on the insulin because we give artificial insulin. That’s the next catastrophe. If we had not given up the sweets, there would be only a few people with diabetes. Honey and natural sugar, the sugar cane, the cane sugar, also there is much, but we don’t want it. We want snow-white sugar grains, and even there, there are chemicals. It is washed with the bones of the cows. That’s another subject for slaughtering animals. Butter, butter and ghee, butter and ghee, oils that are very natural. If we had eaten it regularly, there would not be any high cholesterol and only a few heart diseases. People from former times, 90 or 100 years ago, why did they live so long? Because they ate properly; we don’t have good nutrition. We think we have it. We think we are rich, and we go shopping, and it is a Mahā Mantra: we buy something and we say, "Do you have a plastic bag?" Nobody says, "A paper bag." Or a fabric or fabric cloth bag, so is that? So, das ist auch eine Ursache von dem Plastik. That’s another cause for the plastic. Plastik ist sehr, sehr schlecht. Plastik ist sehr schlecht. Aber wir können jetzt nicht Nein sagen zum Plastik. We cannot say no to plastic. When I sit in the plane, and about 11,000 meters high, 11,000 meters, sometimes 13,000 meters, sometimes 13,000 meters, there are many parts of the plane which are of plastic. And in this height, I cannot say no to plastic. But the plastic that we use, the water bottles, that’s the worst, one of the worst. You should drink Viennese water. If you cannot get it, come here for one week and take the water soon. The mayor of Vienna will say it’s expensive. Some tax, pay the water. Thanks to God, 98% of Austria has good water. 98% of the water in Austria is good water. 80% of the fast in the whole of Europe is good water. 80% of the whole of Europe’s water is good water. But we want to make bad water of the good water. Many chemicals, chlorinated, we have polluted the water. That’s not good. So what we drink is not clear water, fountain water. We open our tap and say, "Ah, good water," but what comes with it we don’t know. Again, we don’t have a healthy drink, so no water bottles. Plastic water bottles, 40 years ago, all over Europe, there were glass bottles. And that was good. Direct mineral water. Mineral water, direct mineral water in the glass bottle. And do you know the nice noise it makes when you pour out the water of the glass bottle? And it stimulates the appetite. You sit at the table, and the good water is coming. We think we have everything good here in the city, but we don’t have anything good. Now we go to the mountains in Tyrol. 2,000 to 3,000 meters high, and there live the farmers. They can run up and down the mountains like a deer. They don’t chew the chewing gum all the time, and they don’t eat permanently. They eat a good breakfast, a bit for lunch, and then they eat for dinner. And we here, in the start between breakfast and dinner, have already eaten two to three kilos. Between breakfast and dinner, we have eaten two to three kilos here in the city. Obst, Kuchen, Zucker und was noch nicht. Auch unsere Haustiere und die Tiere von den Bauern, hochkommenden Bergen ist ein großer Unterschied. Wir haben gelernt, schlecht und gesund zu leben. I do not know why milk is manipulated. Yesterday I read there was in the Koran when a Muslim said the cow milk is a medicine for the human. When you drink cow milk, you should put water in it. Also, butter and ghee are very healthy. So he spoke very nicely about the cow. What we have here, we think it is milk, but we don’t know how much there is inside of pesticides. Nobody says anything. We don’t want this milk. We don’t want to buy this milk, but it is the law, and we are all bound to this law. But once we all say no… We want real milk or no milk. Stop all milk products. So many cows would not be slaughtered. This is one aim and one cause for which millions of people have become vegan. No milk, no dairy products. First, there is too much manipulation. Secondly, the animals are slaughtered. Do you know how they have manipulated the cows? The udders of the cows are so big, they cannot walk. It cannot sit, and when it sits, it cannot stand up. Because it is pain. When it sits, it cannot properly sit. It cannot sit properly. It cannot lie. And when it lies, it has to lift one leg up. It is such a torture for this animal. The animal doesn’t know when it sat normally when it was a baby. They have so much pain, automatically they go where they are milked, as we go to the toilet automatically. So, to manipulate the animals is a shame. It is a sin to manipulate animals like this. Und das wirkt auf den menschlichen Körper, menschlichen Geist, menschlichen Intellekt und so weiter. This has an effect on the human mind and intellect. So, sagen wir kein mehr Milchprodukte. Say no to the milk products. Es wird ein großer, großer Vorteil. It will be a big, big advantage. And now the oils. Somebody said, "What is written in the testament?" The ill people came to Jesus, that he should heal them. Jesus said you are ill because you don’t eat. What you should eat: you should eat cereals from the fields, nuts and oils from the seeds, and honey and milk. You will always be healthy. We throw away healthy things, and we eat meat and manipulated milk products. What shall we expect? How healthy should we be? This is what was said in the Testament. So, who follows this? Yes, we are believers and religious only through the book. That’s all. Practically, we have nothing, so this is one way of protecting animals. Also, the bees have also been manipulated. And on the fields, so many pesticides, so many poisons. So many animals, birds, and butterflies die and die. The time will come when we don’t know how we get fruits, or from where we get the fruits. Without bees, butterflies, or wasps, we cannot live. And the oils, the oils are refined at a high temperature. The oils are refined at a high temperature. So only the fats, the greases stay. The aroma, the taste are gone. And so this fat is also dangerous for us. And now, in these ten years, or five years, a new disease has developed. Now, within five or ten years, a new disease has developed. When the sunflower seeds are ripe, they spray poison. So the whole plant is poisoned and burned. It is turning black. Why? So they can harvest all at once. Otherwise, the half-field is not ripe. So the sunflower seed oil is not healthy anymore. Also the sesame oil. Also the rapeseed oil. Everything is manipulated. Thank God we have olives in some places in Europe. And they have their own fields, and they make healthy oil. But also, the olives are manipulated. The trees only grow up to two meters, so they can easily harvest them and grow them. The olives are big, but they don’t have this taste and this oil. All kinds of vegetables, everything is manipulated. And also, the humans so manipulated it, is nice or not, I don’t say anything here. Then you would say, "Swamiji is racist." We are all children of ṛṣis; our roots are by the ṛṣis. There were different ṛṣis, and so from these ṛṣis, there is a caste. And it states that from certain ṛṣis, there has developed a caste, but not in the negative sense. Each has a different talent. For example, this German shepherd dog. And there are also many other nice dogs in the streets of Romania or Hungary. But you cannot train them in the same way as you can train the German Shepherd. And when you cross them, this baby will be very different. And this is called Varaṃ Śaṅkara in Sanskrit. And it is written in the Bhagavad Gītā very clearly that this crossing with the other races will bring… …the Kali Yuga will be too rash and very bad. In the Bhagavad Gītā, it is very clearly written that the crossing of different races will develop in a bad manner. Three or four ślokas were written about this. How our buddhi will be manipulated without saying anything. That is why a certain group remained, a certain group of life. That is gone. Therefore, nobody knows where my roots are. Where is my origin? Yes, we have our Alakpurījī Siddhārthī Paramparā. We are lucky that at least we now accept and follow the Alakpurījīs. And maybe it can be from some yugas we were from there. But a storm has come up. What happens in the storm? The seeds of one field are thrown to the other field. As it is said in German, the Altweibersommer, the old women’s summer, word-by-word translation, weil bestimmte Blumen von den Löwenzahn, certain seeds of the dandelion, wann die reif sind, trocken sind, und kommt Wind, die fliegen. They fly, the seeds of the dandelion fly. They even come from Europe to Australia. That’s no joke. Often we have sand from Australia to India. The grasshoppers come from Australia to India. From India to the Middle East, and from the Middle East to Europe. They come from Australia to India, and from India to the Middle East, and from the Middle East to Europe. We cannot avoid anything. But as humans, we can be reasonable. And eat reasonably. Good food has good energy. Energy, good hormones, then you also have a good child. One cause of our diseases is the kind, the way of life that is dangerous. But now we say we cannot avoid that. Yes, Mrs. Avoider. We can avoid, but one control. Our taste, our sense of taste, and the tongue. In this body we have ten indriyas, the senses, but some yogīs have them under control, others have not. Weil die Bremsen, unsere Bremsen, sind entweder locker oder feilt. Are they not fixed, or do they fail? So 80% unserer Bremsen, von unserem Lebensauto, ist kaputt. So 80% of the brakes of our life car are broken. Aber lucky, zum Glück, so wie ihr alle sitzen vor mir. Luckily, as you are all sitting here, I’m not speaking of myself. But you are here, disciplined. They say people from Yoga in Daily Life are so disciplined. Why? Because they have a master. He is so friendly. Ten indriyas. Under the control of the yogīs. You are yogīs. If not practically, then theoretically. But the two indriyas have no confidence. The svādha indriya, the taste indriya. Everything that is on the table is something wonderful, sweet. Ice cream, but you have diabetes, but your child says, "Come on, take one spoon, Daddy," and you say, "Okay," because the signal is here, but the two cannot trust, and the taste and the sexual organs, our gender system. These two can, at any time, suddenly suppress us. All the time, these two indriyas can suppress us. Death is going along with us like our shadow and waits for an occasion. That is the Yama, that is death. And so, we are all failures. We miss it. We all miss it. We are missing. So, what shall we do now? Let’s pack our things and go home; the food is waiting for us. So this is a wonderful bhajan from Swāmī Ācārya Rāmajī. Your mind and your indriyas are your people. Do not be dependent on them or a slave to them. Du bist ein König von deinem Königreich. You are the king of your kingdom, and the indriyas are your slaves. The indriyas are your slaves. But as king, you should not become a slave. But as a child, you shall not be a slave. Sorry, as a king, you shall not be a slave. Now, there are so many things. There are so many things. If I tell you everything, you will say, "Swamiji, we have no joy of life anymore. You have spoiled our joy of life." Anyway, we have spoiled it. It’s only a little that I have said, then the thoughts are coming. And the thoughts are stronger than the body. The poor body is not guilty. Our mind, our thoughts, everything comes from our eyes, from the ears. When you see your mother, you have such a wonderful motherly love for your mother. When you see your father, you have love for your father. Suddenly, you see a cat, and you have this love for this cat. When you see a dog, you see a dog. Somebody said in Hamburg, the people in the supermarket, they have no smile anymore. They don’t even say hello. They simply say, "So," then I say, "Tic." And I say, "Tic." Tactic. Tactic. So "tic" means good. "Tic" means good. So, but one comes with a little dog. But one is coming with a little dog, and all the people turn around. And the other people turn around. So beautiful. What a nice dog. What do you think? Oh God. How are you, little doggy? The dog doesn’t know what he is talking about. Nobody is so friendly to a human because people have too little radiation of love and joy. So, Jesse, Drusty versus Rusty. Wie ist dein Blick? As your view is, or your sight is. So wird innengefühlt, deine Welt wird ändern. Your world will be changed inside, and so is this indriya also hearing. So the Indriyas, also hearing. Einer, den du gar nicht magst. Someone you don’t like at all. Ist deine Feind. He’s your enemy. He calls you. He says, "Hello." And you say, "What’s up again?" Why do you call me? When your love calls you. Hello. Oh, never mind. You call me so late. This is how our inner world changes. This is how the inner world changes. So, Geist ist stärker als unser Körper: the mind is stronger than our body. But Geist and Intellekt together, so Geist holt eine Sehnsucht: the mind and intellect together, but Sehnsucht means the mind. Has a desire, and so good and bad, both good and bad, but the intellect decides. And so it is also a cause of our illness and our mental illness and our state, the atmosphere, through our jñānendriyas and our spirit. So the other causes for diseases… Are our mind and our jñānendriyas. So man, the mind is terrible. Yes. Then comes saṅgha. Saṅgha means to be with someone, a society. It means the society. Where you are, that is how you are. From all sides, we are attacked by such negative energies. How do we expect health? In former times, the yogīs and the ṛṣis had a small hut. They had a small cabin, a small hut, with two or three children. And the disciples came, five or ten disciples. For a hundred kilometers, nobody else. There was no path, only desert or jungle, and many animals. They had nothing to do, to do something stupid. They were in ānanda, going to bed early and rising early, living naturally. And they studied the Vedas, and they learned. They had no planes and also no air conditioning. So they had no cough, and my cough is permanent. Sometimes it turns better, but then I fly again and I get it again. So, it’s hard to avoid. The ṛṣis have lived for a thousand years. We think it’s not possible. It is said that Viśvāmitra Ṛṣi had his tapasyā for 62,000 years. It is said that this Ṛṣi lived for 62,000 years. No, he lived more. Even longer. His sādhanā was 62,000 years. Tapasya. He gave to the, what is the ṛṣi? He gave to Vāśiṣṭha Ṛṣi. Do you know this story? Yes. Who doesn’t know? Hands up. Very good. So, if you don’t know, you will know. You will know one time. Because Vishwāmitra gave a title, his name, Brahma Ṛṣi. Vishvāmitra had a title, Brahma Ṛṣi, from Vasiṣṭha Ṛṣi. Vashishtha Ṛṣi was the master of the king, God Rāma’s father, and God Rāma’s guru. That was the family guru. And Viśvāmitra, he was a yogī in the Himalayas and everywhere. But he had one desire: to have a title. He wanted to be a Brahma Ṛṣi. A ṛṣi is normal. Rishi is a swami, it’s normal. But now they want to be Vishwagurujī. Everyone can write Vishwagurujī today. Nobody can forbid. Everyone can say, "I am Doctor So-and-So." But even if you have no title from the university. So Viśvāmitra wanted to be a Brahma Ṛṣi, and this title could only be given by Vasiṣṭha Muni. He tried many times, but Vasiṣṭha Muni said no. No answer. So Viśvāmitra was very churning. Don’t think that the holy saints were not angry. The holy ones are very discerning. They are so churning. They are like a fox that has this disease. What do you call it? Tollwut. Tollwut. They are so angry. We are, my God. Like the fox who has rabies. The holy ones, when they are angry, they are like a tollwut. They are angry like a fox with rabies. We are. But they are not holy. But they are not holy yet. That’s what you call self-made masters. And when it is self-made, then it is like a rabbi. So Viśvāmitra was angry. And he killed a son of Vasiṣṭha, and he stole a cow. And now he had an aim. I will kill Viśvāmitra. Well, that’s how it is, my dear. Es gibt viele Leute, das ist so wie der Fuchs, der Weintrauben essen möchte, aber nichts erreichen kann und sagt, die sind sauer. Reach the grapes, but he cannot reach them, and he says they are sour. So one evening, a full moon night, it is beautiful. It comes in September, August. It is beautiful in September, August, when you make this milk rice in the evening and you put it in the moonlight. And this nectar of the moon is radiating in a special way on the earth in this night. The next day, you eat a spoonful. This is enough. Some eat whole plates. One drop is enough. So another ṛṣi, another ṛṣi invited Vasiṣṭha Muni and his wife for satsaṅg, and Viśvāmitra was not invited. And he said, "Good, today I will…" So he said, "Okay, today I will kill," and he sits on the way and waits with his… Bow and arrow. So at 12:30 in the night, Viśvāmitra and his wife return to their hut, and Arundhatī said to her husband, "My lord, how beautiful the moonlight is today, how beautiful the nature is, and the butterflies." How beautiful, it’s so pleasant. And Vāśiṣṭha Muni said, "Yes, goddess, yes, my Devī. Today the light of the full moon is so pleasant, full of feelings, so clear, so pure. It’s like nectar." It is so beautiful, such as the presence of Brahma Ṛṣi Viśvāmitra, and he heard it. Oh, he threw away the bow and arrow and bowed to his feet. And Viśvāmitra said to Vaśiṣṭha Muni, Rishi, please forgive me. I only wanted to hear that from your mouth once in my life. Damn it. How often have I asked you? Today, you have fulfilled, you call me Brahma Ṛṣi. For that, I give you 72,000 years of my sādhanā, of my tapasyā, as a donation for having called me Brahma Ṛṣi. Well, Vasiṣṭha Muni said, as a blessing, "Ich gebe dir ein Minute die Früchte vom Satsaṅg." As Vasiṣṭha Muni said, as a blessing, I give you in one minute the fruits of the satsaṅg. Viśvāmitra exploded. For 62,000 years, I gave everything, my heart, sādhanā. You only give me one minute of your satsaṅg? That’s not good. It is nothing. Vishvāmitra was very sad and angry. How can you give one minute for 62,000 years of meditation and mantras? So they went to Śiva. "Come with me to Śiva. I cannot give an answer that is too big, too complicated. This is not in my power." So who can do that? Then he said, "Go to Brahmā." And Brahmā also said, "I cannot give an answer." But also Brahmā said, "I have no answer." So they go to Viṣṇu. Viṣṇu said, "Śiva and Brahmā can’t answer." What should I answer? Vishnu said, "When Shiva and Brahma cannot answer, what shall I answer?" Viśvāmitra said, "Everything is so unjust. Who can give an answer?" Shivaji said, "Sheshnāga, the thousand-headed snake where Vishnu rests, and the snake is there." Shiva said, "Sheshnāg, the thousand-headed snake can give an answer." And Vishnu said to himself, But now you know and think, who should I say thank you to? Whom shall I thank now? Because he can’t say, "God, thank you." He cannot say, "Shiva, thank you." He cannot say, "God, thank God." Because he is God, the other is not God. That is the ego of Viṣṇu. But when he says "then," that means there is another God. So in Austria, when the children are born, then they need a certificate. They need a birth certificate. When we go as a Hindu, they give a form to fill in, and it says the religion. They ask for the religion. You say Hindu. They say, because in our constitution there is no single name as Hindu. World religions, but in this small Austria, they must open their eyes. The Buddhists recognize Muslims, of course. Who says no to Muslims? Who would say no to Islam? And also, of course, the Jews, all religions, even the Baha’i religion, but not Hinduism. But Hinduism is not acknowledged. This is injustice. Okay, so Vishnu said, "When everything is done, if everything is done, I cannot give the judgment." If I don’t have to give the judgment, Viṣṇu wants to say thank you. He started saying, "Thank God," but then he said nothing. He said, "I am God." Shiva said, "Sheshnāga will throw you into the ocean." You know, who gave you this holy seat of Śeṣanāga? Yeah, God, you, Śiva. God, Śiva, you gave it. Also, by the Pāśiṣṭamuni and Viśvāmitra come the Śeṣanāga. So they come to Śeṣanāga. And it is said, on his head is the whole earth. If he moves only a little, the earth goes. So the earth rests on Śeṣanāgar’s head. Sheshnagar is not a small area like Austria. It is a very big area. So Viśvāmitra said, "Mahārāj Śeṣanāgar." "Yes, Ṛṣi." He said, "Don’t tell me Ṛṣi, I’m Brahmaṛṣi." Śeṣanāg, he said, I know. But not really. Then he said, "62,000 years of tapasyā." He said, "62,000 years of tapasyā I gave to Vasiṣṭha Muni." And he only gave me one minute. How can he compare? It is not just. So Śeṣanāga said, "Of course, I will give judgment, but Viśvāmitra, Can you hold the earth for a bit, for a while? I have pain in my neck. So Viśvāmitra said, "I will give to you, Mother Earth, these 62,000 years of Tapasyā." Please lift yourself up a bit, but nothing happened. Nothing. Not one millimeter. So Sheshanāga said, "With one eye too. He cannot turn his head." He must not move one millimeter, only for one minute. Only for one minute. Only for one minute. What is correct? What is more, tapasyā or satsaṅg? Śeṣanāga said, "Then say to Mother Earth, ’Lift it a little bit.’" So, Vāśiṣṭha Muni said, "Mother Earth, the blessing of one minute of satsaṅg." Vashishtha Muni said to Mother Earth, "I give you the blessing of one minute of satsaṅg, so I can say two words." What is more, tapasyā or satsaṅg? So Viśvāmitra gave Mother Earth one minute of satsaṅg. And the Earth lifted out of the ocean. And Śeṣanāga had an opportunity to take the chance to do the Sarvahitā āsanas. And that’s where the Sarvahitā āsanas come from. And Viśvāmitra said, "What are you doing, Śeṣanāga?" Give us the judgment. Give us the judgment, your judgment. Can you see how a snake is smiling? But I already gave you the judgment. This is injustice. You said nothing. This is not right, but Mother Earth gave the answer. For one minute of satsaṅg, and then for the 62,000 years of tapasyā, she did not react. So lucky are those who can come to satsaṅg. And unlucky are those who cannot come. Satsaṅg is so pleasant. You don’t have to sit for hours in meditation. He said, "Don’t relax. You need not sit in meditation for hours." You cannot move. Eyes closed. It is said, "Close your eyes." And in satsaṅg, you are singing and dancing happily. So, tapasyā and satsaṅg. Satsaṅg gives us health, but we have to learn ourselves. There are so many things we have to learn. Our intellect and our mind will be pure and healthy. Our life will be pure and healthy, and we will be blessed with wisdom. Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya. Oṁ Namaḥ Śivāya… Drinking now comes the kīrtan, so we all will listen. Surprised when kīrtan from Dr. Shanti, she wrote for Alak Purījī. Come on, and we haven’t had money, the… The people in Linz go to satsaṅg very disciplined and punctually. There are 30 people, and they send me a postcard from each satsaṅg. And the signatures are only four or five, with four or five signatures. Yes. Everybody can sing with, because the text is only. So first we will only listen, then we will sing. After five times, then we will sing with. Very good.
