Bhakti

Steady practice and satsang are essential for spiritual progress. Neglecting regular practice, even for a day, leads to significant loss. Initial enthusiasm often fades, replaced by distractions like television, which halt spiritual development. Do not blame God or the teacher for a lack of progress; grace functions alongside personal effort and devotion. Practice must be continuous, with awareness on each breath and the divine name. Spiritual love must grow daily, like a plant or a child in the womb. Satsang is a purifying bundle of energy; avoiding it leads one astray into negative company. Practice without devotion and satsang remains mechanical. Continuity is step-by-step, building the path. This discipline brings holistic development to millions globally. Conferences honor the teacher and promote a culture of peace, which is the true foundation for harmony.

"On my each and every breath, I repeat and remember Thy name."

"The lucky one, the fortunate one, will go to the satsaṅg."

Even for half a minute, even for a few seconds, the heart is doing its duty. Similarly, if we think that today we will not practice because we have somewhere to meet friends or other engagements, it seems like only one day—nothing. Then after two days, again something happens, and so we do not practice again. This means that by not doing regular practice, we miss a great deal. Sometimes that mālā breaks. If you do not practice for a longer time, you understand that practice is far better, much more than only theory. We begin with great interest and curiosity, and we are very happy about it. But slowly, slowly, it goes down. Some sit in front of the television; they will watch more television than practice. This means you have lost your spiritual development. Do not blame God. Do not blame your teacher, and do not blame your Gurudeva. Then you say, "Oh, I have my Gurudeva, but he doesn’t help me; I’m ill." You see, Guru Kṛpā and practicing are together. No one will give you anything without something in return. We need that devotion. We need those feelings. And our heart is all the time aware, and should be aware of it. So, what did our beloved Gurudev say? And then? What is next? If you speak, then speak loud. Do you see, someone remembers? Svāso ’svāsa yāpa kāśa mhira. Svāso ’svāsa means each breath, inhalation and exhalation—the ascending and descending breath. While inhaling and while exhaling, svās on svās, inhalation and exhalation, apkahī sumaraṇa: O Mahāprabhujī, on my each and every breath, I repeat and remember Thy name. Even when I am sleeping, even when I am giving a lecture, walking, anywhere, my every breath never goes empty. Din, din, nita, nita, din—every day, day by day. Prema mera adhik badi jo: my love to Thee, O Mahāprabhujī, my devotion to Thee, O Mahāprabhujī, it should increase day by day more. Like you have a little plant, and every day you look, oh, it’s growing. It’s very big today, and it’s growing and growing. A pregnant mother, not only once, but how many times she touches her stomach and feels, "How big is my child now?" That’s it. So the bhakti of one who is practicing more, day by day, more and more—that one achieves that mokṣa. That one gets that self-realization. We practice only three minutes, four minutes, or a maximum half hour, and two and a half hours we are watching television. So, this half an hour, what you did, the television took over. We broke the connection, so how could Guru Kṛpā function for you? So, continuous working is essential. As it is said, "Mukme rām, hatme kām": In our mouth, we have the name of God, and in our hands, we have our work. Always, our vṛttis—our thoughts, our attention, our awareness—all these should be towards our spiritual development, our mantra, our sādhanā, our satsaṅg, our Gurudev. Mahāprabhujī said: Satsaṅg, Satsaṅgyārī Olu Avere—I long for my brothers and sisters of the Satsaṅg. I’m longing in such a way that when I think of them, my tears come. Because they are my real brothers, sisters, or friends. At the end of the bhajan, Mahāprabhujī said, "Badbhāgī jan satsaṅg pāī": The lucky one, the fortunate one, will go to the satsaṅg. Can you remember which day you were in satsaṅg? One day I was, but which day? Which hour? How can you, or what can we expect, our liberation? Oh my mind, you lost everything with the kusanga, with the kusanga people, and the kusanga looks sweet and good. Gossiping, backbiting, and blackmailing, and seeing the negative in others—that is very sweet and very pleasant for the Kusangī. But a satsaṅgī will immediately purify everything and say, "Stop, let’s have a satsaṅg." So satsaṅg is like a bundle of energy. Lucky are they who attend at least once a week. Manasabhoyore kushangyokeshang Jñāna, dhyāna, bhakti sabhoyi chalrayo kudhang: Everything you lost, chalrayo kudhang, and now you are walking not in a good way. Your behavior is not in a good way. You know, the horse always needs training. The horse should have the walk. Everything remains in the training; otherwise, you lose it all. So, the satsaṅg is an ocean of nectar. We are bathing in that, and that is purifying the negative energy. So, if you don’t go to the satsaṅg, maybe you can meditate from time to time, sometimes. And you know, we have such a beautiful Kriyā, which has to be practiced. There is a Guru Kṛpā. If you practice just mechanically, and you have no devotion, and no satsaṅg and sādhanā, your Kriyā also will not function. When you get Kriyā, how must I explain to you? How many rules do we give? And how many times have you promised? And where is that? So, that is, no one is to be blamed. It is one’s own mistake. So continuity is that. It’s step by step. Day by day, stone by stone, that’s it. In that way, in the whole world, Yoga in Daily Life is practiced by millions of people. And it must not be that they are always here. They practice at home. They teach further. This is like a huge banyan tree; its branches have covered the whole globe. And they are having the benefit of physical, mental, social, and spiritual development. We had our World Peace Council conference last weekend in Prague, in a beautiful hall called Lucerna. People around the world who saw that through the webcast were admiring the hall, how beautiful it is. They didn’t concentrate on what the speaker was saying, but on the hall, the harmonies, and what they call pin-drop silence. It was so silent. Every speaker enjoyed it. They were very good speakers. It was a very successful, very nice conference. The conference, the Sri Swami Mādhavānanda World Peace Council, which is an NGO of the United Nations—this is not that we like to make a conference. It is a token of our thankfulness to our Gurudev, our Holy Gurujī, to bring his knowledge, his glory, his blessing. And so, we honor our Holy Gurujī in these conferences. It is not a political conference; it is called the World Peace Council. This morning we spoke about peace. The attaché of culture from the Indian embassy came. What I spoke about for nearly one hour was culture. That chapter we should write. It is a culture which can bring peace. Where the real culture is, there is no fighting, no dualities, no wars. There is harmony, peace, understanding, tolerance, love, etc. That means the culture. And so, about Holy Gurujī’s bhajans and līlāmṛts, and Holy Gurujī’s lectures—unfortunately, many we did not record, and some were on cassettes, and those cassettes, chemically, are not working anymore. But it is His blessing that brought you to Holy Gurujī. I was brought to Holy Gurujī, but who brought Holy Gurujī to Mahāprabhujī? Holy Gurujī was brought to Mahāprabhujī. And who brought us to Devpurījī? It is Mahāprabhujī. And now, who brought us to the Alakhpurījī? It is Devpurījī. Step by step we came to the Satya Yuga, the beginning of this mantra. That time was the time of Alakhpurījī. Day by day, we get more and more information about the presence of Alakhpurījī. And we are only lucky that we are belonging and we found our roots of our spirituality. That is the Siddha Pīṭha. And now I brought this Siddha Pīṭha in Rajasthan. More. So you will say, "Swamiji is only building ashrams." It’s better to build the ashram than the slaughterhouse. And so, about holy gurujīs, you should write something. We will acknowledge it in the next conference. I’m trying to make an award for the one who is the best writer who writes about Gurujī. That one will get that kind of award. It’s Gurujī’s teaching. It’s not me who is talking, it’s Gurujī talking within me. And so, I feel that if not complete, then at least 1% I can share my devotion with the whole world for my Gurudeva. It is the disciple’s main duty. As much as you develop devotion, that much you go towards spirituality and higher consciousness. And as little bhakti you have, you become less and less; again that lamp is going to finish. And so, how does one feel in one’s own heart? He said: "Lagi, lagi, sab koī kahe, Lagī nahī̃ lagī, Lagī jiske aise lagī ho gayī ārampar." Everybody said, "Oh, I was hurt. Oh, I was hurt by an arrow." But that one who was hurt by that one arrow, which went through the heart to the outside, through the hearts—so that devotion penetrates through the hearts. What a devotion! When Gurudev’s darśan, when Gurudev comes, each and every cell of the body is happy, recharging with beautiful energy. Everything is vibrating. So this bhajan we know from Lālā Nānjī. This ḍālak is, you have to tighten it, it’s not good. You sing. And so, Mahāprabhujī said, "Let’s go to the Satyaloka." Let’s go and get the nectar. We all follow the words of Mahāprabhujī. We follow the holy Gurujī’s words, bhajans, and everything. Try to write one bhajan yourself. Yes, I will be very happy to sing your bhajan. So let’s sing the next bhajan. Dr. Shanti will sing. She likes this, her bhajan. Jaka Lena Musa Phir Gun, yes, the Sant’s favorite bhajan. So, we will see first this bhajan. My dear, we are at the time of Christmas. In the whole world, people remember Jesus’s birth. You know more than I do, because you have received teachings about Jesus. And now is the time of Christmas. This is the forgiveness. It is a time for forgiveness and a time for understanding. It’s time for giving and time for hugging, not physically, but mentally. There was one man who always hugged me so strongly. He was strong, so he hugged me and lifted me up. After slowly, slowly, my stomach was getting bigger. But it was with love, with respect. He was a very loyal disciple, living in Linz. Then he came to Carinthia, and he unfortunately died from a heart attack. But his whole family is very devoted, a very loving family. So whenever I come, he comes and he will take me, and I will go all the way up. So when I came close to him, I inhaled so I would be a little lighter. So this is the culture, the Jesus time now: forgiveness. Can you forgive something? Try. If you forgive all negative things and bring up the positive things, all this winter depression and all other kinds of depression will go away. It is a practice: forgiveness, mercy, blessings, kindness, giving, etc. This is a culture. It’s a beautiful culture. But we’ve forgotten, so let’s go there. Mahāprabhujī said, "Have a test." When once you taste that nectar, nothing is tasteless in the world. And that is the nectar of the Supreme, the Spiritual, God. Otherwise, you will try it for a while, but you can’t achieve that nectar. Then, what do you say? It is like the fox: the grapes are too sour. But there’s a person, tall, like our Satya Nārāyaṇa, Lakṣmī Nārāyaṇa. They are very tall, and they take the grapes, and it’s so sweet. Then the Fox said, "Can I test?" He said, "No, no, you have to catch yourself." So, chakle nām musāfir guṇḍagalī, Dr. Shanshan. Don’t worry, it will come. More or less, we are here today for this satsaṅg, and we also take the opportunity today to remember and worship the incarnation of Jesus. So, I can’t sing, I don’t know the bhajan about Jesus, but you should sing, at least in three or four languages. So, I pray to Mahāprabhujī for his divine blessing. And also to Jesus, to bless all of us for peace, harmony, and good health. We pray for world peace. We pray for forgiveness and forgive all our mistakes. We pray to Thee, O Supreme One. With this, our webcast will be finished. It will be tomorrow morning about 9:30. And now we will have something for Christmas, something for children, some chocolate we have. At home, children have so many toys. The rooms are full; there is no place for anything. There are so many of what we call dust collectors. So many toys in the dust collector, but the chocolate doesn’t remain long. All the best, and I also wish all you dear ones a Merry Christmas and a Happy, Prosperous, Peaceful, Healthy New Year. Om. Bhagavān, Om Śānti, Śānti,... Śrī Dīp Nārāyaṇa Bhagavānandajī, Devādideva, Deveśvara Mahādeva, Satguru Svāmī Madhavānandajī Bhagavānandajī, Satya Sanātana Dharma Kṛṣṇānām.
