Guided Self-Inquiry Meditation

Guided self-inquiry meditation begins with relaxation and mantra resonance.

Sit upright. Close the eyes. Feel the body relaxed.

Chant Oṁ three times. The resonance moves from navel to throat to Sahasrāra.

It reverberates through the head and every cell, then expands into space.

Send positive, spiritual, harmonious vibrations with the Oṁ chantings.

Relax each limb. Observe thoughts. Analyze their necessity now.

Turn toward the Ātmā within. Feel the body from toes to crown and back.

Analyze the five bodies: Annamaya Kośa, Prāṇamaya Kośa, Manomaya Kośa, Vijñānamaya Kośa, and Ānandamaya Kośa.

Between these resides the Ātmā. Be aware of deep stillness.

With breath, a light moves up and down from body to Sahasrāra as mantra.

See the body from outside with closed eyes in the cidākāśa.

Observe all five bodies one after another.

From the heart, a flame emerges into a dark blue space.

The mental body sees; the flame’s sound is So’ham.

Hold the mantra to avoid getting lost. The light illuminates all space.

All five bodies merge into the Ātmā’s light.

The mantra is the only path to return and go further.

The light returns to the heart as bliss, peace, harmony, fearlessness.

Bow down, touch the forehead to the ground, feel circulation and chakras.

Slowly come up and open the eyes.

"Hold on to your mantra, otherwise you will get lost."

"So’ham, the sound resonance, So’ham."

Make yourself comfortable, adjusting your position so that you will feel no discomfort. Sit straight and upright, and close your eyes. Feel your whole body; it is relaxed. Now we will first chant Oṁ three times. The resonance moves from the navel to the throat, and from the throat to the Sahasrāra. The Oṁ resonance reverberates throughout your entire head and transfers to each and every cell of the body. Afterwards, the sound expands into space. What kind of energy, what kind of thoughts will you send? They will return to you in time. Therefore, let us send positive, spiritual, harmonious, and peaceful vibrations with our Oṁ chantings. So close your eyes. Be aware of being yourself in this hall. Feel comfortable. Relax each and every limb of the body. And be aware of your thoughts. Just observe your thinking. What kind of thoughts do you have? Analyze them, and ask yourself if these thoughts are necessary to have now. Turn towards your Ātmā, that Supreme which is within thyself. Feel your body from the toes to the top of the head and from the top of the head to the toes. Try to analyze, or try to feel, or try to think, all your five bodies: Annamaya Kośa, the body of nourishment; Prāṇamaya Kośa, the vital energy body; Manomaya Kośa, the mental body; Vijñānamaya Kośa, the body of intellect and knowledge; and Ānandamaya Kośa, the causal body. A, A, Telo Kri Chin. Between these five bodies resides the Ātmā, the Self. Relax, and be aware of the deep stillness of the body. Up and down. With inhalation and exhalation, a light is moving up and down, from your body to your head, to the Sahasrāra. That light is moving in the form of your mantra. Try to see your body from outside with closed eyes. Imagine that you are sitting or standing in front of your body. Step by step, try to see your body with your third eye. That is, in the space between the eyebrows, in the cidākāśa, where your inner eye resides. In your cidākāśa, see all the five bodies, one after another: Annamaya Kośa, Prāṇamaya Kośa, Vijñānamaya Kośa, and Ānandamaya Kośa. And see the other, which you can find in your cidākāśa. Analyze your physical body, your subtle body, and all your mental and knowledge bodies, the Vijñānamaya Kośa. Observe yourself from the front. With closed eyes, you are in meditation. You are in the cidākāśa, standing far from your body. Self-inquiry, Ātmānubhūti: from your chest, where the heart is, visualize and imagine that a flame is emerging from your heart. And this flame is moving into a beautiful, dark blue space. You are with it; you see that. The mind, the mental body, is seeing, and Vijñānamaya Kośa is the Ātmā in the form of that light. Hold on to your mantra, otherwise you will get lost. Keep your mantra, otherwise you will get lost. That flame which is going far—and you hear the sound from the flame: So’ham. So’ham. Everything you are hearing, you are hearing it. Your mantra is leading you. That your own light, which came out of your body, is illuminating the whole space in a very bright white light, like a fog. This means all the five bodies, all the five tattvas, everything is merging into this Ātmā, the light of the Ātmā. So’ham, the sound resonance, So’ham. Hold on to your mantra. That is the only path to come back. That is the only way to return and to go further. Full of awareness, full of peace and harmony, the light—so I am that I am. Ātmānubhūti, self-inquiry, self-realization, know thyself: this Ātmā in the form of the So’ham. Manifest your visions to feel your five bodies. And let this light come into the heart in the form of Ānanda, bliss. This light into your heart in the form of Ānanda, bliss, peace, harmony, blessing, fearlessness: I am the Self, Ātmā. Jai Sem Tato Yaa. Jai Sem Ātmā Soham. Breathe consciously in and out. Ascending, descending breath. Breathe consciously: your own So’ham. Feel the purity. Bow down, hands on the floor, touch your forehead to the ground, and feel the circulation towards the head, face, and all the jñānendriyas. Feel the stretching of your back muscles. Feel your chakras in your spinal column. And slowly come up, and open your eyes. Hari Om, bless you.
