The Wondrous Body: Chakras, Nāḍīs, and the Path of Awakening

The human body is a wondrous system of energy channels and centers. Yogic anatomy describes 72,000 nāḍīs, or channels, for consciousness and energy. Three are primary: Iḍā, the left, emotional channel; Piṅgalā, the right, intellectual channel; and Suṣumnā, the central channel of cosmic energy. Where Iḍā and Piṅgalā cross, energy centers or chakras form, such as the Viśuddhi at the throat and Anāhata at the heart. Chakras are grouped from the feet upward: earth, vegetation, animal, human, and finally divine centers in the head. Each group retains qualities of the previous.

Positive and negative forces, divine and adversarial, exist within. Mantra practice purifies and protects this energy field. In this age, spiritual practice is essential. Karma Yoga, selfless service, is a foundational practice. Teaching yoga or spirituality is a profound service; every word spoken to a trusting student enters their subconscious, so instructions must be authentic and careful, not based on personal fancy. Teaching harmonizes the teacher's own chakras, fostering unconditional, universal love. When personal interest arises, love diminishes and negative emotions appear.

The Mūlādhāra Chakra is the root foundation of human life and consciousness, a storehouse of past karma. The Svādhiṣṭhāna Chakra is connected to the subconscious, influenced by the parents' state at conception. The Maṇipūra Chakra is the city of jewels, the seat of consciousness, digestive fire, and overall well-being. An imbalanced solar plexus can cause digestive issues and pain. Simple techniques, like checking leg length while lying down, can diagnose a displacement, and a gentle pull can correct it. Exercises like Khatu Praṇām, Naukāsana, and Aśva Sañcālanāsana activate Maṇipūra, improve immunity, and aid digestion.

"The best safe way is that you do karma yoga."

"Awakening of kuṇḍalinī means first what awakes is ānanda. Ānanda means bliss."

Part 1: The Wondrous Body: Chakras, Nāḍīs, and the Path of Awakening Very good. As long as you can digest, that is very good. We come to our subject about chakras and Kuṇḍalinī. This morning, we come more to our physical and mental level, not to high aims and objects. But still, this body which we have is wonderful. It is said: "Yeh Banglā Ajab Banā Mahārāj, Jisme Nārāyaṇa Bole, Jisme Nārāyaṇa Bole, Par Gurū Bin Bhed Kaun Kholē, Banglā Ajab Banā Mahārāj, Jisme Nārāyaṇa Bole." This bungalow, this building is wondrous, in which God himself is speaking. But without Gurudev, who can tell the secret of this bungalow? It is made out of the five elements. On this planet, all creatures, and biologically, every creature, and the nature and the trees, have the same system like humans do. But if we come more deeply, then there are some differences, definitely. The nerves in our body, yoga anatomy says there are 72,000 nerves. 72,000 nāḍīs means there are 72,000 channels through which the consciousness, the energy, is flowing. From these 72,000, three are the major: Iḍā, Piṅgalā, and Suṣumnā. Iḍā is the left nāḍī, which is connected to the right hemisphere, and the Piṅgalā is the right nāḍī, connected with the right nostril and affecting more our left hemisphere. Now, the central nerve is called Suṣumnā, and that is the major channel through which the cosmic energy flows, and all the nerves and all the muscles and everything are under control. The left is known as the moon, the emotional nāḍī, where our emotions and our thoughts, coming and going, depend on this. The right one controls our intellect and our activities, and the central one is known as Suṣumnā, which controls consciousness. Now, these three nāḍīs, which move from up to down, from, let’s say, by the center of the Ājñā Cakra, from there they move. The left goes to the right, and the right goes to the left. And that’s the first junction, and that becomes our cakra called Viśuddhi. The right, which went to the left, goes again back to the right, and the left, which went to the right, goes again back to the left side. So, where the crossway is, a chakra is formed, the energy center; that becomes the Anāhata chakra, the heart center. And likewise, these nāḍīs keep on moving like a serpentine, and that’s why it is also called the snake power. Because the attitude is like this, like a snake is moving. This Iḍā and Piṅgalā, the Suṣumnā is balancing, is a central pole balancing. Wherever they cross, a very powerful energy center is created. In our body, there are 75,000 chakras, or 72,000, because each nāḍī—there are 72,000 nāḍīs in our body according to yogic terminology or anatomy. And 72,000 nāḍīs means these are 72,000 channels through which the cosmic energy enters our body, and also that the used energy from the body, with the help of the apāna prāṇa, goes out. Prāṇa is the ability by which we take energy from outside into the body. Apāna, which again rejects or clears up everything, the used energy or toxins. These are called the earth chakras, which belong to the earth, and they are located on our foot soles up to the ankle joint. And one should not concentrate on the foot chakras, on one’s own feet. From the ankle joint to the knees, these are the vegetation chakras, belonging to the vegetation kingdom. It is also not advised to awaken them. The third group of the chakras is from the knee to the hip joints. And this belongs to the animal kingdom. Also, it should not be activated, because then different feelings can come and cause certain damage to human consciousness or human qualities. From the hip joint, or from the bottom of the spinal column where it begins, to the top of the spinal column where it joins our skull, that is called the human cakra. There are human qualities, and from the end of the spine, where the whole of our head—this skull—begins, there are called devic centers, the divine centers. Now, every chakra, the group of the chakras, has certain qualities of the previous levels of the chakras. The earth chakras have much to do with the vegetation kingdom, and the animal chakras have much to do with this vegetation kingdom, and the human chakras have much to do with the animals. And then comes the Devī Śakti Cakras, whereas they are also human qualities. So, positive and negative are two qualities which began from the very beginning of creation. It’s called Devī Śakti and Aiśvarya Śakti. Aiśvarya Śakti, Devī Śakti, means the divine powers. Aśvarī Śakti means the devālīk or negative powers. Since the beginning of creation, there has been constant quarreling, fighting, and conflict between the devas and the asuras. It means the positive and negative parts of our body or our being. Through the practice of mantra, those who are utilizing their guru mantra can keep this energy field around the whole body very pure and protected. It’s like a bulletproof jacket. When you repeat your mantra, as soon as you practice your guru mantra, it creates a protection. Now it means it is also purifying your chakra levels, and the Kuṇḍalinī awakens by itself. So, in Kali Yuga, or in this iron time, it is called Kali Yuga Kevala Nāma Ādhāra. The hope of Kali Yuga is based on the name of God, which means mantra. Bhakti Yoga is more accepted. But Bhakti Yoga also does not mean that you are just sitting and singing, doing nothing. Therefore, it is put first as Karma Yoga, Seva. If you can do the Karma Yoga Seva, that is a great practice for you. For example, if you become a Yoga teacher, then you have a double benefit. You are teaching yourself, and you are guiding others to the good or positive path. That credit comes to you again also as your deed, your work. Not money, I mean, but the karmic, sorry. If you lead someone in the wrong direction, then that credit, that negative karma, comes to you. If you direct someone in the good direction, then that credit comes back to you as a good direction. When you sit down and teach some spiritual things, of course, in the school as a teacher, it is also very, very good. Professor, very good. But I am talking about spirituality and yoga. Yoga in daily life is balanced: physical, mental, social, and spiritual. The aim of yoga in daily life is for physical health, mental health, social health, and spiritual health. Means the way to self-realization, or what we call God-realization. So, some people come to us and tell, "Thanks to God, how happy I am that I found yoga in daily life." So, ask why. What do you mean? Because here I see life. In yoga in daily life, there is a spirituality inside. And a living spiritual lineage is information from the first hand. And that means, when you sit down in front of your disciples or students, look, this is a very interesting thing. Your students come to you with confidence. Now, your students are sitting in front of you on the yoga mat with confidence. Śrī Śrī... In this person’s mind and body, because of the confidence, the person immediately relaxes. Like a mother gives a milk bottle to a little baby, and the crying, restless little baby takes the milk bottle and is relaxed, you know. Now, you taught them to close their eyes. What is now? What is now? It means you have to awaken your wisdom, your knowledge, that what I can give this person is the best of my knowledge, and that is why the person is there. He or she has closed eyes with confidence and is lying there. Every sentence, every word which you speak goes to the subconscious of that person. And therefore, be careful while giving instructions. Give authentic instructions. Don’t make your own stories. Do not give those imaginary pictures or those visualizations which you like. One person is afraid of the water, oceans, waves, and sharks, and you tell them, "Now relax in your mind, and you come to the beach. Oh, wonderful way! And now you go in the water. Nice waves are coming, and you are swimming with the waves." My God, the person inside is trembling. So, because you like to go to the beach and you like to go swimming, and you find water to be good, but you don’t know if he likes this or not. Therefore, there are certain instructions given by the masters, and we should remain on that. And so, that will awaken in them such beautiful feelings and energy, chakra energies. So, it’s an everyday job. Let’s say you are a yoga teacher, and you have four yoga classes per day. The same people are coming next week again, and every day you have different groups. In every class, you have to give something new. You cannot tell every day, "Lie down and relax, get up and go." Lie down, relax, do this exercise, and then go. As a master means, within you, the treasure of wisdom is awakened. And that treasure of wisdom is in our Maṇipūra Chakra. That treasure of the divine qualities is in our Anāhata Chakra. And that treasure of the divine wisdom, light, love, energy, and so on is in your human brain centers. And this yoga teacher means the master, the guru. And he or she is treating the disciples like their own children, like best friends. And in this way, when you teach, then your chakras, all the chakras, begin to function in a beautiful way, harmonizing. Mūlādhāra, Svādhiṣṭhāna, Maṇipūra, Anāhata, Viśuddhi, Ājñā, Bindu, and Sahasrāra Cakra. All these eight centers in the body begin to awake and send the information to those parts of the body or to the whole body. A feeling of oneness and love, love without conditions, love without selfishness, the universal love equal to thyself and your friends, mother, father, and the whole vegetation, everything. That means you become the embodiment of love. And that embodiment of love is known as God. God is love, and love is God. But as soon as you put personal interest on something, then that love quality decreases immediately, and you have only the temporary emotional things. Then jealousy will come. Then the ego will come. Then the selfishness comes, then the desires come, then the anger comes, and greediness comes, and what not, because the quality of the love is decreased, and after a certain border of that, it goes down from divine to humans, to the animals, and so on and so forth. Therefore, these chakras and these three nāḍīs, which come and are said to be at the base of the spinal column, are called the Mūlādhāra Chakra. Mūlādhāra, it is also called mūl, which means the root. The tree is standing with the strength of the roots. The house is standing with the strength of the foundation. Ādhāra means it is based on that. And so, Mūlādhāra, the human consciousness and human development, the human health and human life, is based on the Mūlādhāra Chakra. And the Mūlādhāra Chakra is a storeroom of many, many past lives, karmas, and destiny. Svādhiṣṭhāna is the second chakra, where Svādhiṣṭhāna Swayamsthāna, the place of yourself or Kuṇḍalinī, but somehow, due to the carelessness of humans, it went one degree more down. Otherwise, Kuṇḍalinī is residing mostly in Svādhiṣṭhāna Cakra. Svādhiṣṭhāna means svayaṁkaisthāna, and it is connected with the subconscious, which we spoke about yesterday. And the subconscious begins, our subconscious begins from the first minute when the father and mother came together. Which condition did they have? In which condition was the mother sad, scared, angry, frightened, happy, very happy, or relaxed? In which condition was the father: drunken, aggressive, cruel, or happy, harmonious, and loving? Spirituality, that lot of spiritual energy on both sides, will result in a happy child and a happy psychic condition for that child. It’s not that you get a child, but you should know what kind of child you want to give to this world. As a mother and father, your duty is to have a next generation. But you have to give the light to the world, which will enlighten the world, not to give darkness or something poisonous. It depends on the mental state of the father and mother, the physical state also, and the purity in the body. Svādhiṣṭhāna has good qualities, but Svādhiṣṭhāna also has negative qualities, which we spoke about last year. Today is the Maṇipūra Chakra. Maṇi means jewel, and pura means city. It is the city of the jewels. It is the city of the jewels, and jewels means very precious. And that jewel is called the consciousness. Because the Kṛṣṇa or the Viṣṇu consciousness is residing in Kṣīrṣāgara in Maṇipūra. The form of the Brahman Supreme is the resonance, the sound. And the seat of the sound is also in Maṇipūra. The seat of the sound is in the Maṇipūra. Maṇipūra is responsible for our entire well-being. Maṇipūra is the seat of the sun, solar. And that is also the seat of the digestive fire. Whatever we eat, it is that Maṇipūra Chakra which is responsible for digesting and also for producing the immunities in the body. Maṇipūra Chakra is responsible for reducing all the toxins from the body. Healthy Maṇipūra, healthy body. Automatically, everything will be harmonized, neutralized, and purified through the Maṇipūra Chakra. If your solar plexus, if your digestive system, your digestive fire, and all this is imbalanced, it means the Maṇipūra Chakra is suffering. Many times, the diagnosis is okay. Your solar plexus is good. The pancreas is good. Everything, blood picture is good, but still you have the disharmony in the stomach. Diarrhea, mostly diarrhea, or loose motion, or after eating immediately you have to run, or constipation, or you have a kind of headache all the time. Now, there is one very simple technique to know if this solar plexus is in the right place or not. And if it is not in the right place, it is slid left or right or up or down from the right place, from the navel. No matter how much medicine you take, it will not help. It is just a little thing, but a powerful thing. And how can that happen? Sometimes when you go by steps down, one step is only half an inch lower than the normal steps. Because when we come from the first floor to the, from the second floor to the first floor, then, from the first step, the measurement of the steps is already registered in our brain. So automatically, our steps will make their own measurement. But suddenly the last one is two centimeters higher. And what will happen? You step like that, finished. It will attack your Maṇipūra Chakra. It will push your, what you call, the solar plexus in a different direction. Now you will have diarrhea. Now you will have back pain. Now you may have a headache. Now your digestion will be disturbed. Many things, and you don’t know what to do. Now, how should we know if our diaphragm is in the right place or if it is disturbed? That’s very important. So there are certain measurements to measure. Sometimes we need the second person for this. So when you lie down on the back, straight and relaxed, then he or she will put both your legs together. And you will see that one of them is shorter. One leg is short, smaller, half a centimeter, maybe one centimeter. That means that plexus has slid to the right side if the right one is shorter. What should we do? Very easy. That person should hold your right leg, okay? I mean, you are lying, not standing. And hold with both hands like this from the ankle joint, lift it 30 cm higher, and just once pull like this, like that. Finished, are you? Already in the right place. How simple. Immediately, you will feel the release in your stomach, very, very easy. Or also they measure your foot, both legs, as well as for the male, they measure from the navel. They take one thread from the center of the navel to the chest, the breast, and then on the other side you will measure. So one side is shorter, then it has gone to the upper side in the other direction. Again, there is a technique for that. So, to find out if it is in the right place or not, you lie straight on your stomach, relaxed, and the second person places the thumb, this middle part of the thumb here, on the center of the navel, like this, straight. What do we feel? Pulse, like our ear pulse. So there is also a strong pulse, but there is nothing, but you feel the vibration is coming from some different direction, then you put the thumb side there, oh, there is tak, tak,... So it has gone in the other direction, to bring it together again. The best posture for that exercise is called Marjari, the cat pose, or what we call dynamic movements, changing counter postures at the same time, and that is what we call the Khatu Praṇām. In Khatu Praṇām, there are, in one round, three or four times, there are postures which are counter. One leg is in front, the foot between the hands and the knee near the chest; the other is pulling down. And that is because of our Maṇipūra Cakra, to keep healthy. Khatu Praṇām improves immunity in the body immensely because of the Maṇipūra Chakra. Do every evening, when you come home from your work, five rounds of Khatu Praṇām, and you will notice in one week how good you feel your health. Or morning also, five rounds. There is another posture. In your yoga and Dalai Lama book, it is called Nokāsana. Nokāsana. Noka is the boat, and you hold your hands, fingers locked, stretching your hands. You lie down on your back, and you raise up both legs together a little and hold it like this, like a boat. That will help to activate your Maṇipūra Cakra, and it will help in your digestion. Then it is called the boat rolling. So it means that the boat is on the beach, and the waves come, and with the waves, like a cradle, it moves left and right with the waves. So you go left and right, but not in the beginning. For the first few days, you have to do only a peaceful boat lying there. It means that your back muscles and stomach muscles have to get strength. After that comes Aśva Sañcālanāsana. Aśva is a horse, horse riding movements, and that you also have in the life of Yogānanda. If I am correct, then it is the second part. It is a long time, I don’t want to tell you, but a long time I didn’t practice. This is the first or second. Yes, it is believed and researched that some exercises for the Maṇipūra Chakra every morning will, 98% sure, protect you from getting cancer in any part of the body. Why not? Then do it. And how long does it take? Maximum, maximum three or five minutes. It doesn’t cost any money, and you don’t have to buy it somewhere in a drug store or a naturopathic store or something. It doesn’t cost you anything. Only five minutes and willpower. Otherwise, tomorrow I will do it. Then who has seen tomorrow? Nobody. And these two exercises are known as Agni Śāra Kriyā. Agni is the fire, and śāra means to purify and awaken, to activate your digestive fire. And digestive fire is the healthiest and most important thing in our body, as it will keep our body weight and everything at a beautiful level. All the vitamins and whatever is called in the body, cholesterol and this and that, all will be in the perfect line. All will have, when you go for the diagnosis, then all will be negative results. Do not accept and expect a positive result in medical diagnosis. Okay? Only there is one thing where we don’t want positive. Because they say positive means yes, you have cancer. And the diagnosis said, "No, there is nothing. That’s negative." Now, Agniśāra Kriyā, again our dear Sevā Purī, no? Thank you. I have so many disciples, and how many disciples’ names must I remember? And if I don’t remember, then the disciple is so unhappy, saying, "Swāmījī, even you don’t remember me, but I love you so much, and all day I meditate on you, and even you don’t know my name." It is a very hard life for the master, you know. So I said, "I remember you as Ātmā, the Ātmā." Okay, Agniśāra Kriyā. So, our dear Sevapurī will demonstrate, and he will explain how to do it and so on. Please come to this side. And also, then someone will do, or you will do, the Agniśāra, Nauli also? Prasād Purī, okay. Part 2: The Practice of Agnisāra, Nauli, and Bandhas Please take your t-shirt off. Thank you. Explain to them what you will do and how you will do it. And all they can do then. Siddha Purījī, Siddha Purījī, Siddha Purījī. So, legs slightly apart. Oh, you were sitting too long. Hold her hand, yes. Let her walk a little, because sometimes a nerve is pressed and then our leg is what we call asleep. Okay, now inhale and exhale, five times. Inhale, inhale... and through the mouth, exhale. Bend forward, support your hands on the thighs, retain the breath outside, and move the stomach in and out. Then come up. Inhale. Yes, many of us couldn’t because our stomach muscles don’t follow our instructions. It will take some time, you know. You are doing like this and then going like this. Yes, completely relaxed, and you should go like this: up and down, up and down. So, one more: inhale, exhale, and go down and try quickly, and inhale, come up. It warms up our body also. Once more, inhale, exhale, and go down and in and out. Relax your stomach muscles and just move in and out, like you are expanding your belly. And come up, sit down. Well, in your yoga class, your teacher will tell you how to breathe, stomach breathing. And then do it a little quickly. At home, you can also do it, put one hand on it. And then increase the speed. So it goes quickly and quickly. It’s very easy, but it takes five, six days, seven days, or a few weeks to really come into practice. You will enjoy, then you will enjoy your breakfast. You will enjoy your lunch or dinner. You can digest everything, and the good thing is that your kilos will not increase or decrease. Because some people would like to have more kilos. So this is a blessing, I can tell you. The Maṇipūra is something great. After practicing half a year or one year of this Agni Sāra Kriyā, we come to the second exercise, which is called Nauli. You see, on the right side, the picture of it is called Nauli. Very good, I also have a point. Daytime is not so strong light, so it is okay. So one of our yoga teachers will come to demonstrate the Nauli. No, it’s okay. So who is the Nauli master here? Sevapuri? Prasadpuri? Please. Because we must have a good teacher, a good driving teacher, you know. The driving school teacher will not compromise. He will say, "Oh, doesn’t matter, take over." In front, a bus is coming. It doesn’t matter. That’s not good. So the teacher even takes five years. Again and again, he will tell you to practice, practice... the same thing. Practice, practice... then practice makes the master, okay? So he will explain. You understand all English, and you are very good. You look to that side; they understand you also. You can keep your weight on your hands and your arms straight. It takes all the pressure off the stomach, so it can work. But otherwise, set it free. The explanation is the same. And then, once you’re down, you start to work side to side. And when you’re just learning, it’s good to just squeeze one side first and try to get that side to work, and then the other side a little bit. But otherwise, it’s very similar, so I’ll show you one time. And then, on the other side. Alujī will show also? Yes? Okay. Can you demonstrate? Okay. Thank you. After doing this, now only one can eat the chocolate. Thank you. Well, now you saw, only looking at the movements, one can imagine what’s happening with our entire digestive system, our intestines, the stomach muscles. And what will be the influence of these movements on our gallbladders, also on the kidneys and the heart, as well as a supporting exercise for our liver’s function. That factory which produces a lot of immense hormones, the liver factory, will be very happy that you supported this. After this, or before doing the Agnisāra Kriyā and the Nauli Kriyā, when you come to Nauli Kriyā, then you need not do Agnisāra every day. You can do Nauli every day, and from time to time, once a week, do Agnisāra also to remain in practice. Also, there is a Maṇipūra Cakra. Actually, it is for many cakras. The Mūlādhāra Cakra, because Mūlabandha takes place, is for the Maṇipūra Cakra, as well as for the Viśuddhi Cakra. This is called Uḍḍīyānabandha or Mahābandha. Mahābandha is the Mūlabandha, Uḍḍīyānabandha, and Jālandharabandha. All these three bandhas together. Now, bandha means to block, to tighten, to hold. And when we tighten something, then the opposite power has a big pressure, a big force, which I always try to explain. So you can also do it now: put your hands up, hold like this, one hand, and now look at your palm, your... Palm, just look at your palm. It’s nice. You have nice, clean hands, very nice hand lines you have. Yes, you have very beautiful fingers, very good. Great. And now, thumb inside and close the fist slowly, tight. Hold your wrist with the fingers and thumb, and try to tighten your wrist strongly. Hold it tightly. And now, slowly open your palm and look at your hand, as it is a different color because we blocked the blood circulation. Keep on looking at the tips of your fingers. All the fingers, the palm, the thumb, and now feel your palm and look at your palm and find the difference. Now, when you release your right hand from the wrist. So now release the hand from the wrist, and now compare both hands. How is the feeling? Where we made a bandha is warmer, more relaxed. And especially the ladies who are constantly working on the machine and typing, typewriters, or nowadays people are sending SMS, working more with their thumbs. This bandha will be a very good exercise for them, again to send more new energies to the joints. So you will not have joint pains. Let’s do it with the left hand or the other hand once more. Now, on the other hand, because the other hand is offended, that is jealous between both, then you will drive the car, the left hand will not coordinate with the right hand, yes, you can feel it. So now do it with the other hand, look to your palm, beautiful color, and now the thumb comes inside, and tighten your wrist, or the palm, close the fist tightly. Now make the bandha, hold your wrist tightly and feel that you are doing bandha, and now slowly open your fist, you are opening and looking. To your palm, the tip of the fingers, the thumb, palm, color of the skin, yes, and now we release the bandha and feel the palm. Beautiful color without cosmetics. And so it happens, the awakening of the energy in the body when you do this bandha, kuṇḍalinī bandha. Either in standing, or you can sit in lotus posture, or in siddhāsana, or in vajrāsana. And you see that it inhales and then exhales completely and pulls the stomach in. And press the stomach up so that also your anus muscles tighten; that’s mūlabandha, and the chin, you press towards the chest. So that jālandharabandha, uḍḍīyānabandha, and mūlabandha, these three become mahābandha. After you release, the energy goes through your spinal column and the whole body, nearly like an awakening of the Kuṇḍalinī. Means feeling of happiness, lightness, clarity, love, beauty. So, try. Somebody should show us the Uḍḍīyānabandha, please. Any yoga teacher going to show us the Uḍḍīyāna Bandha? Nobody dared to say anything. So, Śrī Vāpurī, again you have to come, please. Because every yoga teacher, they didn’t practice, and their stomach doesn’t allow them to do it anymore. Sitting, you will sit up so that people can see here. Yes. You finished it? You didn’t make Jālandhara Bandhana, did you? Now show it standing. But you can do straight standing, yes. Okay. Thank you. I think you have to practice more Agnisāra every day. Okay? After doing these three exercises, Agnisāra, Nauli, Uḍḍīyānabandha, then one of the very beautiful is just like we call the Yoga Mudrā. So, sit in Vajrāsana and slowly, while inhaling, stretch your hands above the head. Keep your hands not too far away, only as wide as your shoulders. So, why is your shoulder not so big? Bring your hands more together, a little more, a little more, that’s it, and keep your elbows straight. When your elbows are straight, your hands go like this. Should your hand come like this? And slowly... While exhaling, bend forward slowly and place the hands on the ground, with the forehead touching the ground. Now, slowly move your hands parallel to the body. Your chin or your forehead is resting on the floor. Hands are relaxed near your toes or your feet or the ankle joints. You feel a very gentle stretching of your back muscles. Do not raise up your hips. Just remain seated with your buttocks on the heels. If it’s difficult, you may put your knees a little apart; it will be more comfortable for you. And feel the circulation towards the head, relaxing your face muscles, and feel your breath. And now, again bring your hands on the ground above the head, and slowly, while inhaling, raise your hands up, and head also, upper part of the body up. And slowly bring your hands down. You may remain in the same posture, or you may change. But for a while, be relaxed. Close your eyes and feel. Feel the flow of the energy through the whole body. Feel the prāṇa. Good. Open your eyes, and you can turn to my side. The Maṇipūra Cakra has a lot of beautiful aspects. The symbols, the petals, the animal Ram, Bīja Mantra Rāṃ, the colors, the triangles, and all this we have in a book, Hidden Powers in Humans, so you can just read that, what it means. But the essence, the effect from the Maṇipūra Cakra, and to develop the buddhi, as we spoke now. Also, people who cannot pronounce words properly, or children who have problems learning language or speaking, then this Nauka Sañcalan Āsana, which I told before, and the Aśva Sañcalan Āsana. Both are very, very good for the children. You will see, miraculously I see, it’s helping. It’s like a miracle. So, that’s all for today. Now we have time for some questions. Or do you want an interval first, 15 minutes? No? Okay. You know, you ask, and I answer. That’s something good, no? My God! Also not, also not, but for pregnant women, it is not good. Demonstration is okay. Thank you for asking the question. This Uḍḍīyāna Bandha, this Agnisāra Kṛiyā, and the Nauli should not be done by women when they are pregnant. The location of the Kuṇḍalinī? Yeah. Okay. Yes, that’s a wonderful question, because a person who is everyday practicing these kriyās, as well as mantra, meditation, and prayers, then the Kuṇḍalinī Śakti is already beginning to flow, starting from Mūlādhāra and Svādhiṣṭhāna, and then it comes to the Maṇipūra. When you are a Karma Yogī in the Maṇipūra, when you are more a Bhakti Yogī in the heart, when you are more a Jñāna Yogī in the Ājñā Cakra, and when you are a Rāja Yogī also coordinated with the Ājñā and Ānanda Cakras. So, awakening of kuṇḍalinī is not that you feel inside some sensation. Even you don’t know that your kuṇḍalinī is awakened. Awakening of kuṇḍalinī means first what awakes is ānanda. Ānanda means bliss, that indescribable happiness which appears in your body and in your mind. Second, the awakening of the kuṇḍalinī means that the next step is contentment. Suddenly, you become very peaceful and happy. Your anger disappears because you take it as it is, wisely, nicely, because you begin to understand. And therefore, the third step of every four petals of the cakras is that it develops the wisdom, the capacity of understanding. And the fourth, you feel that your consciousness is getting pure and uplifting. And these are, for example, the four petals of the Mūlādhāra Cakra. Similarly, when Kuṇḍalinī rises up, then the Svādhiṣṭhāna, which has six petals—some write eight petals—awakens as well, and now there is a counter-energy that awakens. So love may transfer into desires. Understanding may transfer into hate. So, Svādhiṣṭhāna Cakra is a very interesting center, and there is a seat of the subconscious in Maṇipūra. At that time, when Kuṇḍalinī is passing by, coming and going, or residing, your soul feels protected. If the negative awakening takes place, then your soul feels within itself frightened. And therefore, many wrong techniques can create in your body, kind of, you feel like an electric shock, meditating and suddenly, so, or spasms, cramps in the body, or you think something is at the Mūlādhāra Cakra near your anus, something is, like a pulse, pulsing something, different. So, the awakening of Kuṇḍalinī has no sign on the physical body, no negative sign. If you do, then something is different, and some muscles have lost the confidence that these muscles cannot follow the instruction from these three nāḍīs, what we call central, navel, suṣumnā, and iḍā and piṅgalā. So, the best safe way is that you do karma yoga. If you feel that your kuṇḍalinī is awakening and you feel something physically, the best way is to work. Work, do something useful for you and for others. Karma yoga. Say that one year I will dedicate my time to do more helping in that humanitarian project, or for animals, or for blind people, or for ill people. There are many, many things in the ashrams, in the church, anywhere. That will again harmonize the energy because it flows from you for beautiful things. So that love is converted into the sevā in devotion and helping. Yes, it is like that: husband and wife, the partners, first of all, they should become vegetarian. They should eat milk products, little cheese, milk, and yogurt. If it is organic, eat the almonds. For each meal per day, eat two teaspoons of ghee in your meal. Prayer, repeat your mantra, meditation, both. Fasting on full moon day and new moon day. Śrī Śrī... Ṣoḍaśa Saṃskāras, the sixteen saṃskāras, and from childhood, teaching, practicing, chanting spiritual mantras, and so on. Yes? Like the current is going on and off, and if I visualize you, then you’re moving like that all the time, and at the same time, I see you. I just wondered, is there a way to stabilize? Yes, it is to do something with your eye nerves and the circulation. Try, there is a way: when you go to the aeroplane or something, they give you something for your eyes to have a little, so the light doesn’t disturb you, to cover your eyes, you know. Then it will be little. And if you have the light of the eye, there it is still; there is, like, electricity moving. Okay? And if it is like that, for a while you hold your eyeballs like this, it will stabilize. Yes? Well, life is almost or never in the same situation. Constantly changing. Biologically, mentally, physically, emotionally, spiritually. Best is to be the observer. Life is given to experience and learn from this something and then proceed further, not to get stuck on the same. What they call a breakdown, actually it’s not a breakdown, but this is only the word they use. It means you are exhausted, you are tired, you have pain from disappointments, many, many. The situations which you experienced in your youth, during your student time, when you go somewhere, you don’t know the people, and someone treats you differently. Many times it happens in the night, in the streets, and this one should not go. So, this all brings a person to a point where that person loses interest in this world and in being alive. You see, so nerves never break down like your bones break. Okay, so there is a tiredness in these cakras, and for tiredness, good nourishment is good food. Organic, but in the morning, take a glass of milk with almond paste inside. Sorry. The almonds are very good for strengthening the nervous system and memory. One tablespoon of white almond paste, mixed in warm milk. If you like honey, one tablespoon of honey. That will give you again mental strength, and it will repair your nerves if they are broken. That is very, very good. One of the best. Simple and good. And, of course, Agni Sārkarīyā, or this one of this. You can do Bīja Mantra, that is the resonance of that particular Cakra, or your Guru Mantra. Only when you do it specifically for that cakra. There are thousands of insane cows that are slaughtered so that the mothers can continue to work out non-violence without higher principles. Are you all convinced about what to do there? Yes, this is one of the biggest problems. When we look at this, then of course, we should not consume dairy products. Have a friendship with some farmers and let them deliver the milk. This is a big problem, yes. All day, every cow, every ox was used for the fields, to work or to produce manually. It’s good for the fields. That’s right. There is one magazine from the Australian vegetarian and vegan societies, and they show the cows. They give a lot of courtesans and this and that, that the udder from the cows, what they call, is so heavy that she cannot sit on it. See, whenever she has to lie down, it’s on a different side, and she cannot walk. She is just like a milk machine, nothing else. And many, many things, so, you know, the male chicken babies, they just collect in the basket and throw in the machine to grind it. So, it is like you cut the potatoes, or something like this. People lost that feeling. In that case, of course, milk is not good. Take soy milk. Okay, I have 600 or more cows, but my cows and all these boys, they are not sent to the slaughterhouses. They all enjoy, they are all happy, and we have nice milk, one of the best milk, and best butter, and best ghee. They give a little milk, doesn’t matter, one cow gives half a kilo, or another cow gives one kilo, maximum one cow can give three kilos, okay, doesn’t matter, that’s all. And we have such beautiful calves. Oh, you can’t imagine. They are big. I’m looking forward to going to see them and pet them, you know. Ah, they have big, nice eyes. Indian cows are a little different, you know. They’re beautiful. And they come and they lick you, and one comes and one eats my dress, and one goes this. Now I have 70 babies, or by the time I come, it will be 90, I think. And so they are very nice. Some are like almond color, and some are snow white, with big ears and big eyes, and so gentle and beautiful. I can’t imagine that such a beautiful creature, you just kill it. This is terrible. Did you see the picture of some of our cows from Jadan? No? I think in this yoga book, somewhere, one of my, that, that she’s already mummy, double mummy, I think. She has already, this was a long time, she’s already, maybe grandmother. Somewhere, some kind of picture is here, I don’t know. Yes, look, did you see it? This face, how beautiful they are. So you must especially look every day into this baby when you think of this, how happy they are in our ashram there, very happy. So, I am supporting, I have five, what you call them, cattle refugees, the animals which people left, and they will be collected and brought to the slaughterhouse. And so, for one cow, we need one Australian dollar. And if there are many, then half an Australian dollar, and we can feed our one cow for a whole day. So, if you want to help in this project, you are most welcome. It’s tāmasik, tamas guṇa, batter paneer, or soft cheese. Doosre cheeze me wo hata hai, Lord, kāya kī charbī hotī hai. Yeah, that’s okay. Alright, then we will have, yes, I will go to the Anāhat Cakra evening and tell you, okay? Thank you. Yes, no, cakras are more; they are energy centers. And you know, the Kirlian photography, I think someone did it in Russia, and he cut the leaf like this and then made a photo, and the energy was equal. So, these are psychic centers. Yes, glands, of course. Nerves may be damaged; that’s true. Not too much fasting. You should not fast too much because you have little kilos.
