The rising of Kundalini

A discourse on the science of mantras, the elements, and spiritual destiny.

"A mantra has a great effect on our body, mind, intellect, consciousness, and spiritual development, as well as on other creatures, vegetation, all the elements, and the environment."

"Kuṇḍalinī is that energy... When we behave like animals, eating, desiring many things, then the energy goes downwards, so the next life will be as animals."

The speaker delivers a comprehensive teaching on the vibrational science of mantras and the living intelligence of the natural elements (earth, water, fire, air, space). He explains how respecting these forces through ceremony, Vāstu (architecture), and Jyotiṣa (astrology) creates harmony in life and home. The discourse connects this foundational knowledge to the awakening of Kuṇḍalinī energy, the purification of karma, and the critical role of a spiritual master in breaking cyclical destiny.

They researched which words, when formulated, produce what kind of effect. This is the language of humans. It does not matter which language it is, but it goes through the human brain, through the heart of the human, and through the voice of the human. The seat of sound is at the navel, which is the Maṇipūra Cakra. Thus, mantras have been researched for ages. It is not merely that someone composed a poem and declared it good. A mantra has a great effect on our body, mind, intellect, consciousness, and spiritual development, as well as on other creatures, vegetation, all the elements, and the environment. It unites with sound; this is a mantra. Through mantra, we can gain a lot of positive energy and positive protection. So, mantra: man means the mind, and tra means liberation. All desires, tensions, sorrows, and negative thoughts in the mind are purified through the mantra. It removes negative energy coming from others, such as magic. Therefore, in Vedic science, it is like this: whatever new thing we begin, we first sanctify the space. There is only one God, as I spoke about the last two days—that God who has no form but is omniscient and omnipresent. Yet it is not only God. God has given duties to others. Just as you have a president but also a clerk, everyone has their duty; the president cannot do it alone. Therefore, there are different divine energies, spread or distributed, and that is called God. We call that God. Without that, we cannot survive. We call Agni Dev, the fire God. Without fire, we cannot live. Fire can save our life, and fire can take our life. When there is high temperature in the body—a high fever—we are in danger. Or if the temperature goes down, we are in danger. So we must respect fire, Agni Dev. Similarly, Jal Dev, water. Water can kill us, or water can save us. Without water, we cannot survive. Ati sarvatra varjayet—too much of anything is not good. Similarly, Mother Earth. This Mother Earth is our mother, and without her, we cannot survive. Similarly, the air, the prāṇa, and space. All this we must respect. Respect means to adore with prayer. If these elements were not there, we would not exist. Similarly, there is also Sūrya Nārāyaṇa. Nārāyaṇa is Viṣṇu. Without Sūrya, the sun, we cannot exist. Can you imagine if for a few days the sun did not rise? The whole world would become frozen. Similarly, the sky. Besides this, there are certain gods: Gaṇeśa. Gaṇeśa and Īśa are the gods of all elements. Anything new you begin—for example, building a house—you have the earth-breaking ceremony, then the foundation ceremony. Then, when you make the first home-warming ceremony, the first time making a cooking fire, you have protection. All this is science leading to our subject of Kuṇḍalinī. Without all this knowledge, you will not understand what Kuṇḍalinī is. If you proceed without all this, you may become unbalanced. It does not matter; we have many hospitals for that too. But we want to be happy, healthy, and harmonious. Nowadays, in the family, harmony is missing. Between couples, after a certain time, harmony is lost. Between parents and children, with neighbors, we are all living in a society of conflict. That is why children also have no harmony. You do not dare to have a child, and if you have a child, you do not know how to care for it. The meaning is gone. Just to have a child is not the problem, but to educate the child, to make a child a human with human quality. You have a child and just let it go. After some months or years, you want to get divorced, so the child is split. Where should the child go? If it goes to the mother, the child misses the father; if it goes to the father, the child misses the mother. The real mother and real father are different from an adopted father or mother. Our joy should be to educate our child. We dedicate everything—all our joy, other kinds of pleasure—we must give our attention towards the children. But if we perform all these ceremonies, this question will not arise. The husband will be very happy, the wife will be very happy, the children will be very happy, the house will have a very harmonious atmosphere, your pet will be very happy, your neighbors will be very happy. Because these goddesses, these elements, will protect us. For this, you need two supports: astrology and Vāstu. Astrology is a science—the knowledge of the universe, the stars, the planets, and all elements. There are certain constellations during the day and night. Every one and a half hours, one constellation changes. There are good constellations and bad constellations. You should know when is a good constellation to do something or go somewhere to get something done. Suppose you have a court case. Choose the good constellation and then go. Also, the day which is best for your constellation, you will be successful because that energy is guiding you. Constellations are very, very important. It is said the Earth, Mother Earth, is a living planet. There are certain constellations when Earth is sleeping, awakened, or in other states. You should not perform earth-breaking ceremonies when Earth is sleeping. Your astrology will tell you if the earth is sleeping or not and which good constellation is active at that time. It will tell you which direction your face should be and which mantra you have to say. There is a mantra of Gaṇeśa. We should say, "Oṁ Śrī Gaṇeśāya Namaḥ." If you do not know more mantras, then one is enough: Oṁ Śrī Gaṇeśāya Namaḥ. Oṁ Śrī Gaṇeśāya Namaḥ. When we say, "Oṁ Śrī Gaṇeśāya Namaḥ," it means Gaṇeśa will take upon himself all the responsibility of our work, so that house will be happy, healthy, and so on. Then, it is called the stone foundation ceremony. In this, there are five bricks with five mantras. This should generally be in the east-north corner. The east-north corner is the residence of Kubera. Kubera is the treasurer of God. So we will talk about treasure. Wealth must not be only money. The first wealth is good health. Āyurveda says the first mantra for Āyurveda: the first happiness is a healthy body. So the first wealth is good health. You cannot buy health; you should gain health through the practice of āsana, yoga, prāṇāyāma, kuṇḍalinī, kriyā yoga, anuṣṭhāna, etc. When a house is built, you have the kitchen. If it is possible and you have the facility, the door of your house should be to the north. The south should be empty. Whatever you put in your house may flow out if the energy is not contained. But perhaps there is a street to the south, so you must have a door there. Then, on the door, you place a small statue of Gaṇeśa. Gaṇeśa will not let this emptiness come into the house. He is wealth. It is called śubha and labha. Śubha means the good; labha is benefit, the gain. This is Gaṇeśa, the greatest god. Now, if you make your house, the kitchen should be in the corner of the east and south. That is the fire corner. Like this, with Jyotiṣa and Vāstu, whether it is your house or your flat, you should know where to buy it, in which direction to place your bed, your kitchen, children's rooms, etc., and have a Gaṇeśa. It is element; it is energy. We must respect Mother Earth. We are the salt of the earth, and yet how many bad things we do to our earth. Still, a mother is a mother; she takes care of us. Like this, there are many elements we call goddess. Since people did not respect water, they manipulated it and caused pollution. Water is used in ceremony. Even in the church, you know, they use holy water. When you give a blessing, it is also with water. Water is life. It is said in every language that water is life. Scientists have researched it. The Supreme Court has given a statement that the holy Gaṅgā is not a river; it is a living being. Therefore, do not pollute and do not harm this river. It means all our rivers are living rivers. Jala, Jīva—water is life. What is life in us is water. The Jīvā, our soul, is water. If we respect it, it gives immense energy. In the morning, when you get up and go to the bathroom, you open the water tap and take water in your hands. How beautiful you feel. You put it on your face; how refreshing. So when you touch water for the first time in your bathroom or anywhere, say, "Thank you, God. Thank you." Similarly, the earth. When you get up from bed, say, "Mother Earth, forgive me. May I step on you?" Yes, this is the mother. The earth is the lap of the mother. Similarly, the air. When it is polluted, we can die. Similarly, there are different kinds of goddesses. It is said: where you need only a needle, you do not need a sword. And where you need a sword, a needle cannot help. So every goddess... All humans are gods, but now there are two qualities: divine quality or satanic quality—asura śaktis or devī śakti. If we have devī śakti, you will be known as a holy mother or a holy father. Yes, we have these qualities, abilities, but they are polluted. We do not accept, we do not follow, and we do not respect them. So in every world, in every country, there have been some great saints. Similarly, we preserve them; we respect them. Look at God Hanumān. God Hanumān is the incarnation of Śiva. So we have the Śaktis, and now it is just nine nights of the Divine Mother. Yes, I think today is already the fifth day. The Divine Mother is worshipped. Now, in India, our government has promulgated the prohibition of slaughtering animals during these nine days of the Divine Mother. So, do not think, "Oh, I am a poor woman." You are not. You have immense power, immense, immense. And so, Mother Earth—that is the power. You know, an earthquake—what is that? It is the Śakti power. It can move the whole Himalaya. It can move the whole Earth. That is the Śakti power. You have the same thing, but we do not follow the rules, and everything is gone. All vents are open. We shall respect, so respect is in the respect. Similarly, this soul which is in our body is a very old one. That is why you came as a human. But the human came and thought, "I am a human, and I can do all that I like." This kind of thought is the enemy for the human. "I am human, I can do what I want. I do not have any more life after?" Who said that? If you are self-realized, you can see where your life will go again. So that is a cycle—the cycle of birth and death, like a cycle. This energy which we have, we shall respect and be happy, and thank God that we became human. Human life is not only just for eating, sleeping, and getting children. There is a mantra. You have collected from many, many lives the vibration, the energy. It is like a snowball. From the hilltop you throw the snowball, and it gets bigger and bigger. Similarly, we have acquired so many karmas; we have bundles of karmas. But luckily, if we come to spirituality and if we get the guru, that master, he can give you that fire so all snow will melt. Then there is only water; it is melted. Similarly, through your prāṇāyāma, your practice, kriyā, and mantra, these karmas will melt. In the Bhagavad Gītā, Śrī Kṛṣṇa said: Yoga-karmasu kauśalam—your yoga practice will be successful through doing good karma. When you master yoga, then it is said: yogāgni-karma-dagdhāni—the fire of yoga will burn all your negative karmas. So this soul is turning, coming, wandering in space, and luckily it gets the human body. The center point is the navel. We have ten different prāṇas, but out of these ten, two are the prāṇa and apāna. These are the mighty powers: inhalation and exhalation. Both inhalation and exhalation touch the navel. Now, touch your navel here. Put your hand and say any word, but the moment you say any word, feel it. When you say any word, the pressure is first on the navel. You can just touch like this. Say any word. "Hello, how are you? Blessings, good day, good morning. I'm hungry." You see, here it is moving. So the seat of sound is here. A child who cannot talk properly must practice from the navel, which is in the yoga book. You have the yoga daily book; there are postures, different āsanas, so that you can correct the language. So Kuṇḍalinī is that energy. Through our kriyā, we will purify the chakras. When the chakra is purified, then the consciousness—the dormant energy is in the Mūlādhāra Chakra, where the border of animal and human consciousness is. We have involved a lot of animal quality, behaving, acting like an animal. Therefore, the consciousness is always on the lower chakras, so it is in Mūlādhāra. Kuṇḍalinī: the chakra is a circle, and kuṇḍa is a deep water place. But if you say Kuṇḍalinī, then it is a ring, an earring. Like this ring, that energy is dormant in the form of a coiled snake—three and a half coils, and the head of the snake is going down. When we behave like animals, eating, desiring many things, then the energy goes downwards, so the next life will be as animals. But if we can purify and awaken the Kuṇḍalinī, that head of the snake should come up. There is no actual snake; it is only a given symbol because it is coiled like a snake. Rising up means not a snake is rising, but our pure consciousness is rising, and so we can penetrate through all the chakras. Every chakra has its mantra. There are more other disciplines, things to learn, which came with you from past life—your destiny. With destiny, if you have no master, no energy and ceremonies, then you cannot change. There is one story from Greece, about a young man. A king had a child, and it was prophesied that he would marry his mother. You know the story. So he was turning and turning, and again went in that direction. You can practice many things, turn many things, but again you will go in that direction. You will have lectures and everything, and then you will go to a restaurant and eat meat again. You fall. So when... it is called the śabda bāṇa. Bāṇa means the arrow; śabda means the word. When the word of the wise master touches your heart, then it splits everything, and you are going straight. You can try many things, but we need that master who will shoot that arrow. Through that, your consciousness, your heart, your eyes are open. "Oh God, how many creatures were suffering because of me." It is not easy for animals. They are just torturing them, butchers. After death, it does not matter what happened. You can then boil them or burn them or whatever. But that pain, in your life, that pain is going to your karma, to your energy. So if you believe or you do not believe, belief does not change reality. If you say, "Today the sun will not set," we may believe it, but we will see the sun set. Our belief cannot stop the sun. And that is it. That is the pain. Life, the pain is the sin. After that, it does not matter. Otherwise, the whole world would be all humans as gods, and they would be going to mokṣa. In this Kali Yuga, it is rare to have the chance. Do not miss this chance. We will continue this evening. Wish you a very nice lunch time, nice vegetables, fruits, salads, milk, nuts, many things. Only one note that you know now. This evening we will continue. Come to the Mūlādhāra Chakra. There it is. What is happening there? That is in your body. This picture is a kind of imagination by an artist, but it has all the symbols in it. Oṁ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ tat savitur vareṇyaṁ bhargo devasya dhīmahi dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt. Oṁ bhūr bhuvaḥ svaḥ tat savitur vareṇyaṁ bhargo devasya dhīmahi dhiyo yo naḥ pracodayāt. Very good. You know, everybody. All right, well. Oṁ Sarve Bhavantu Sukhinaḥ Sarve Santu Nirāmayāḥ. How do you say, "Good appetite"? Karmas. Ādi Oṁ.
