Seva will bring us to Brahmaloka

The principle of selfless service and reverence for all life is paramount. Depictions of spiritual figures should reflect joy and compassion, not perpetual suffering. All life, whether born from womb, egg, or sprouting from earth, is sacred and given by God. Destroying life opposes divine will. The current age promotes violence against life through disregard for creation and selfishness. True service, or Seva, is action without expectation of reward. It is a greater spiritual pursuit than even personal liberation. Selfless action upholds righteousness and is the foundation of a harmonious world. All incarnations arise to serve this principle.

"God gives life, God sends life, and we destroy it. That is against God’s work, God’s will."

"Seva is greater than Mokṣa. Therefore, Bhagavān Viṣṇu said, 'I give up my comfortable life... and I incarnate again on this earth to serve.'"

Today is Sunday. In Christianity, this is a day of prayer and worship, commemorating the day Jesus came down from the cross. It is a day of thankfulness to God. This Sunday should be for thankfulness. We should not kill any animals, eat fish, or eat chickens. When we see pictures of Jesus at Christmas and other times, he is often depicted with many animals around him—sheep, goats, donkeys, and others. This means he loves animals. Otherwise, he would not carry goats in his hands, in his arms, protecting them. He is known as a shepherd, so he lived with the animals. If we compare his life in this way, as I told you yesterday about Bhagavān Dattātreya, and the Bhagavad Gītā also mentions Him with animals, like dogs—because they love animals. We are now in the 21st century. We do not know exactly how it was; we had no cameras. Some painted as they liked to paint. But as I see the compassion of Jesus’ being, he was vegetarian. We think many things, but many people will not accept this. In my opinion—it is my personal opinion, I do not want to argue—but we should not see Jesus constantly hanging on the cross. At least now he should have a comfortable life with us. You know, in all of this, it is mostly the Hindu religion, which adores all spiritual qualities, that gives to God the most beautiful decoration and the highest place. So the Hindu religion is a religion of happiness, of joy. Similarly, other religions must also be very joyful. So with Jesus, it was not only sadness always. It was joyful and knowledgeable, full of mercy. Mercy and compassion contain joy. Therefore, we should not still let him hang on the cross. Of course, it is a decision of the Pope and patriarchs, etc. But my personal opinion, which I want to tell, is this: I actually cannot see him like this. I am so sorry. Anyhow, I have said my thoughts. So you should have Jesus’s photo, if you have one or if you want to have one, with nice decoration—joy, happiness, dancing, colors, singing, praying, many things. It was said that they asked Jesus, "Are you God or are you Lord?" And he said, "No, I am only the son of God." Like we are all sons and daughters of God. Therefore, it is not counted in the counting of the incarnation. We are not fighting over who is an incarnation and who is not. We are also incarnations, and other creatures are also incarnations. "Incarnation" is a very spiritual word; otherwise, it is called a birth. Born, that is all. You are born, I am born, Kṛṣṇa was born, Jesus was born, our horse is born, our cow is born, our goat is born. Our chicken is not born, because that came out of an egg. So this is a different story. It is said, when the soul comes descending to this earth, according to the Vedānta and Sanātana Dharma, there are four paths, four ways for the soul to come to this earth. One is like a sprouting, or the bark of the trees—all vegetation. This means vegetation has a life. Of course, even a blind person will say, "Oh, this tree is still living, please give it water." So the question is, how is the life coming, and we should not destroy life. God gives life, God sends life, and we destroy it. That is against God’s work, God’s will. The second is through bacteria, what we call from sweating, dirty waters, etc. Bacteria are also living, and they are very intelligent. When one person comes, some bacteria are in his mouth, in his cough, and they are very intelligent. So one person will come to the door, entering the hall, and he may... The bacteria say, "Now we have the whole ocean here. Everyone gets it. They have a new field. How are they multiplying?" No! It is harmful for certain creatures. And we try to feed them with antibiotics. Antibiotics are called the family program. That is how to minimize the pollution of the population. They began in Europe, and the result is negative. Now you know that every country tries to get more children. If you get a child, the government gives you money and many other things. In some countries which have a large population, if they get children, their salary is reduced. So they have a fear of having a child. It is very complicated family planning. But if Europeans continue like this, you know, once there were Romans. We only know them from history. The Roman people were there. So you Europeans will be in history like the Romans. And in this way, Namah Śivāya, Om Namah Śivāya, Om... Hara Hara. So it is... you have to think it over. Many intellectual people say what Swāmījī is telling is stupid. Yeah, today it is stupid, but after a few centuries, you will be pulled only into one room. That is it. Therefore, you should have healthy children, and do not have only one or two children. Do not refuse your wife, or do not refuse your husband; you must have five, six children, ten children. God gives everything to everyone. It is God who provides food to everyone. No one sleeps hungry. If humans are going hungry, it is the human’s problem, our mistake. So there should be happy lives and happy families, joint families. Anyhow, we are going further. So one is through vegetation, sprouting. Then it is called the bacteria. And in them also come the creatures in the water. The second is the egg, which gives the egg. Some fish give birth to a baby, others give an egg—birds, etc. But in that egg, there is life. There is life inside. So if you destroy one egg, you destroy a life. If you destroy the egg, you are destroying the embryos in the mother’s body. In the nest, one bird lays a few eggs, and she has no hands; she has only two legs and one beak. How hard she is trying to make a nest! In every aspect, that nest is safety from the high speed of the wind, rain, etc. She lays the egg, and she is observing, watching, waiting for the baby to come out. So it is the same as with a human. When a woman gets pregnant, she is waiting for the baby to be born. So life is in eggs too. Now people make the argument: there are some eggs which have no baby inside. This is manipulated, and that is more harmful for your health and for the chicken. Always, she thinks she is giving a baby. So we humans have come very far. This is a hiṁsā, not an ahiṁsā. This is violence, not non-violence. Similarly, the second is then the birth, where we are born as a baby. It may be human, it may be cows, buffaloes, goats, sheep, dogs—all which give birth to a baby. They are in these high qualities—not the qualities and categories, but life is equal. It is prohibited in the Bible. In any Vedas, Upaniṣads, or Purāṇas, it is prohibited. In the Koran, it is also prohibited to make an abortion. I do not know how it is in the Jewish religion, but I think they also do not. Then why do you begin these things? On one hand, you are praying to God, and on the other hand, what are you doing? Okay, forget it. You do not like children? Then there is one option: do not live together, wife and husband, that is all. If you cannot manage this, then how do you manage that? No husband, no wife, no girlfriend, not a good boyfriend. Tapasyā. Har har bholī namah śivāya. Har har bholī. So there is an option. God has given an option. And God does not force us to have a child. But if it happens, then we have to take care. And so, our generation should survive. This is very important. Otherwise, with these European white-skinned people, it will be counted how many are left in Slovakia, how many are left here in the Czech Republic and Austria. It will be only a story, like what they call the Neanderthals. So, Neanderthals, they were here. Yes, they were our ancestors in different ways. But now, they are nowhere else. But sometimes we can see somebody’s... Yeah, they are not bad; they are very great, intelligent, and they can survive every condition, every weather. So they should not vanish from every country. Humans are humans. Therefore, what I want to say today, in the name of God, is that we should not fight, we should not bring wars, and we should not kill any creatures. We should follow the principle, and that is why Patañjali said, "Atha yoga anuśāsanam." Keep the discipline, then we will all be happy. So these are the four incarnations. In this incarnation, the vegetation and eggs—they are not incarnated, not born; they developed in an egg outside, but they have life, they have a right to live. It is God’s miracle, because God maybe wanted to have the world quickly, with different creatures. Some humans take nine months, elephants take twelve, thirteen months. So God wants to have different kinds of creatures, so He said, "Give egg," like the hails from rain. Clouds come, and when I see the hails falling down, I said, "Oh, God gave so many eggs today." So He brought life in these eggs, the hails, and water was for life for all. So respect life. That is very important. So the story about Jesus crucifying and all this, it remains in the Bible, it remains in our memories, but not hanging him constantly. Well, they are all who are born. I am taking now incarnation and born as the same. The aim is one: Seva. Serve. For humans, it is Seva and Dharma. So it is called Seva Dharma. Seva Dharma is the greatest religion. Seva Dharma is the greatest... I have forgotten the one word in English. So it is said that God, one day, in the Brahma Loka or in the Sarūka Loka, everyone has a big apartment. Kṛṣṇa had another apartment, Rāma had another apartment. The universal is only Śiva. He had no house, and he had no ground. It was only everywhere, wherever he wanted to fall down, but where to fall down? Ages and ages he tried to fall down, but nowhere was there a solid place to fall down. So he is only the one, and there are no other things. But all incarnations came through the mother’s body. And so it is said that Viṣṇu one day was resting on Śeṣanāga, and Nārada came and asked God, "What is better, the sevā or mokṣa?" That was the second word. Mokṣa means liberation. Now, liberation means not Brahmaloka. So, do not misunderstand. Do not say, "Swāmījī, can I have mokṣa?" That is very cheap. For me, it is very easy, OK. You will get mokṣa. But after some time, you come again. "But I had mokṣa. You enjoyed already. Now you have to go again to the Chaurāsī." Then say, "O Gurudev, I am not asking for mokṣa. I only seek for the holy dust of thy holy feet." So after a certain time, when all karmas and everything are finished, then we have to come back. Therefore, complete ātma-jñāna is coming. That is very important. So Bhagavān Viṣṇu said, "He tried." So Nārada said, "What is better, doing seva, karma yoga, or making a sādhanā for mokṣa?" So Bhagavān Viṣṇu put on this scale one side seva and one side mokṣa. So the mokṣa went up like a chocolate, and seva went down. So it means Seva is more than Mokṣa. Therefore, Bhagavān Viṣṇu said, "I give up my comfortable life in the milky ocean, Vaikuṇṭha, and I incarnate again on this earth to serve." So even God is coming for making Seva. So that Seva will bring us to the Brahmaloka. So there is the Seva. So Dharma, Dharma is the greatest. So Dharma, that is called Seva Dharma. Now, seva is helping. But I always say, the helping hands have more value than folded hands. So help. Now, helping, Seva, and there are two kinds of Seva. One is called śeva, self-feast, with some kind of expectation that if I do this, I will get this. If I do the seva, I will have a chance to sit beside Swāmījī and eat. Many, many people are waiting to have lunch or dinner with Swāmījī. And I am longing that one day I will be having lunch with all my bhaktas together. And that is why today again my karma was like this. It is too cold. Otherwise, we can all sit together on the window, not on the meadow, and eat all together. Then again, the jealousy comes. Why? He is sitting close, and why is she sitting just near? And why is he serving, and why is she serving? And I am so far. So again, duality is there. I would like to ask Mahāprabhujī for one siddhi, and that was... it is a bhakti jealousy. So there was a holy festival. And there they played after the rākṣasa died, and Bhakti was survived. The victory over the adharma, over the sin. So they were putting color and dancing. The Holī began at the time when Kṛṣṇa was. So they were all dancing and putting colors. A few were around Kṛṣṇa. Others are far. And when they want to come close to Kṛṣṇa, they are always pushing you back. When the American president comes, everyone wants to go and take a selfie with him. That is why there is security in the country. So, of course, he cannot go to everyone and make a photo. So Kṛṣṇa had seen this. So what happened? Kṛṣṇa himself multiplied, and he was with each one, Kṛṣṇa. I said, "He is with me." Arjuna said, "No, no, he is with you." So, a thousand people, a thousand Kṛṣṇas. Oh, everyone is dancing. You will see that one nice video. All gopas and gopīs are dancing. And between the two is one Kṛṣṇa. Left is Kṛṣṇa, right is Kṛṣṇa, above Kṛṣṇa, below Kṛṣṇa, in front is Kṛṣṇa, behind is Kṛṣṇa, everywhere is Kṛṣṇa, Hare Kṛṣṇa Kṛṣṇa, Hare Hare. So therefore Mahāprabhujī said, "I am in all, and all in me." That is why Holī Gurujī said, "Okay, Mahāprabhujī, I understand now." Mahāprabhujī said, "What? You said just now." What? I did not say anything. Oh yes, Mahāprabhujī. One in all and all in one. So that is that seva. When you do the seva, then do not make any doubts and differences. Otherwise, it is selfish. So now they have the camera selfie. And selfie means selfish. The word selfie means selfish. So we do not want to be selfish. We do sevā, and that karma is called niṣkāma karma. Niṣkāma means without expectation, without expecting to say thank you. And what we say, my God, I did everything, but she did not even say thank you. Because if she says thank you, then your niṣkāma karma is deleted. Then you have sakāma karma. And sakāma karma means selfish karma. It means you will get good fruits, good work, good salary, but you asked for it. And you will get it, but you can only enjoy it in this life. In the next life, there is no more. So if I do Seva, then I should not expect anything. So Kṛṣṇa, Bhagavān Viṣṇu, He put on the scale one side seva and one side mokṣa. Mokṣa went up because it was too light, and the dharma went down. It means the Seva, Seva is greater, and that is why everywhere you are doing Seva. What we call a social seva, a humanitarian project, an environmental project, saving the animals—this is a seva. But if you say that you come to me, you come to my religion, I give you money, and you will have studies, you will have this and that, that is not seva. That is not seva. If you do seva, do not ask for anything, no conditions; that is real seva. But if you make some condition for that, then it means you will not get that blessing of God. It will bring the vikṣepa. And we know in yoga, the vikṣepa. Mal, vikṣepa, and āvaraṇa. So mal is impurity. Impurity also means trick, lie, hide, many things. This is called dirtiness. That is called not honest, you see? So love is different. And lust is the difference. That is the desire, and Prema is God. That is why Holī Gurūjī said, Prem means love. Pyālā means the bowl. This is the bowl, this is the bowl of love, but it is empty, so we are all empty. So Holī Gurujī said, "Premakā pyālā, this bowl of love, O God, when will you fill it? When will it be full?" Why is it empty? Then it is said, "Uparse bhare, nichese dhare, Guru Mahārāj kyā kare?" Very good, yes? You understand? So, from the top, Gurudev is filling. But this pyālā has a hole down. Everything flows out. So what should Gurudev do with you? First, repair your pot. And what does that mean? That we take this love in a different way. We misuse it. Keep it, so premakā pyālā is a heart. Love in the heart. Which one? That is for God’s mercy. To come to Brahmaloka, it is said: Tulsī, Mīrā, Kabīra, all had the pot full of their love, Amṛta. And they were drinking and they were drinking, and they were so joyful and happy. Will one day my pot be full, O Mahāprabhujī? This is so beautiful, bhajana. When you understand, you will sing day and night only this bhajana. But you have to understand the meaning. So therefore, the prema, we are doing Seva. So the Seva is greater than Mokṣa. So many of you are going to Jardin, India, or to other countries and doing Seva there. We have one Sevapuri, and his name is Shivapuri, so he became a Shivapuri from Sevapuri, and he is still missing, so he is going back to the Jadana. His whole family is doing the seva. Do not think that there are no people or bhaktas like these. Many sitting here are complete, complete seva bhaktas. Even they are working hard, and they are paying for their eating. People said, "Swāmījī, at least you can give them something to eat." I said, "They give me eating." So if they give me, what can I give them back? So that is their seva. If they eat from the ashram, then it is selfish. So there are many, many different principles. And so God Viṣṇu said, "Time to time from the Vaikuṇṭha, I go to this Mṛtyuloka, the mortal world, to do this Seva, so that I again come to the Brahmaloka." You know, Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva, they all have an office. Yeah, ask Viṣṇu. He said, "I know, I am counting how many manvantaras have finished." Then I will retire. Yes. So Brahmā, Viṣṇu, Śiva, Bhagavān, Rāma, Ela, all and all and... we are searching for that Brahma-loka, Brahma-jñāna. So we are struggling, we are seeking, we are searching, we are meditating on how to come to God and to Brahman. So all this, how Jesus came, how the yesterday unhackle, unhackle, so they also came to make a seva. You know, you know all. I only hear sometimes. And it is said in the Bible, Jesus was fed up and he was very desperate. He was sitting in the mountains, and there came a big cobra. Carl. Carl means not good karma. But Jesus said, "Father, I cannot do any more. It is the end of my energy. Why do not you choose somebody and send them here to do the seva?" And the voice came. No, my son. I trust in thee. He said, "But I cannot. It is the end of my energy. I will give you. Carry on, go ahead." Whatever happens, you have to go through, and so God gave the duty. And it is difficult. You say, "Let us walk, let us go ahead," but how to go ahead? So sometimes bhajans give us answers. And that is, which bhajan is that? Very good bhajan. And that is, even if I have to walk on the thorns, even if I have to walk through the fire, even if I have to leave my country, Gurudev, I will be there. So, how is that bhajan? Milta, milta, hey, you know, you know milta, milta, miluchka, my miluchka, that is love. Milta, hey, please, I am searching for that love, my beloved. Who is there? We are everywhere disappointed. Oh my Lord, I am on that path, and I want to work, go out that way. Swāmī Gajānandajī will sing, because he is a Gaj and Ānand, ok? Satcha sutta kī val milatahe, satcha sutta kī val. Bhagavān āp kī caraṇam, bhagavān āp kī caraṇam nilatahe. Sākṣāt sukh ke guru dev āp ke caraṇam. Even the deep ballapālakṣaṇakṣaṇ. Yet even the deep ballapālakṣaṇakṣaṇ. Thank you for watching. Chahe thar mujhe chalana, chahe agni me mah jalana. Chahe thar mujhe chalana, chhor ki desh nikalana. Āpke caraṇa satsa, āpke saṅkat nāmahe gherā. Cāhe cāra or andhīrā, cāhe saṅkat nāmahe gherā. Cāhe cāra or andhīrā.
